18+!!
okay, so you're a playmate for playboy, but not just any playmate, you're steve harrington's favorite playmate...
your magazine is released for his birth month and he immediately becomes obsessed, looking at your photos daily and buying 2 copies, one for the usual ~purposes~ and one meant to stay in pristine condition
he has your centerfold hanging above his bed, replacing his old celebrity crushes
he reads your data sheet and falls in love with the little piece of personality you let shine, finding that you two might actually get along in real life. but what throws him for a loop is the hawkins sweater you don in one of your photos that shows you fully clothed with your best friend
you're his age so why doesn't he recall you?
he flips through his old yearbook until he finds your photo. it wasn't too hard since you used your real name.
he looks at you and concludes that you've definitely changed. you've got a more mature face and the professional hair and makeup artists definitely played a big part in making you look ethereal
not to say you were ugly in highschool
because steves remembers finding you pretty cute, having considered pursuing you before nancy wheeler came along and stole his attention...
he can't help but fantasize what his life would be like if he went after you instead
if he carried your books and backpack, met up with you in the girl's bathroom, loved on you and stayed devoted...
when it comes time to vote for playmate of the year, he votes for you of course, even shamelessly hounding his friends to do the same. of course they tease him, robin even scoffing at him for being so caught up with something so stupid but he doesn't care
when you win he rejoices internally, knowing that you deserve that title more than anyone. now you're gonna be known as the most beautiful woman to the whole world, not just him
as a way of promoting your brand, your team encourages you to go back to your hometown to meet some of your fans
when steve gets wind of the news he nearly melts. he will do anything to see you, to breathe the same air as you
the time comes and he stands in the bookstore nervously, fidgeting and clutching his prized magazine fated to be signed
once he gets to the front he almost faints. you smile at him happily and greet him
he stutters out a "hello" and nervously slides his magazine to you. "i know you hear this a lot but you're gorgeous, i'm like in love with you-", he cuts himself off, internally cursing himself for rambling. you giggle and sign his magazine before asking for his name
"steve...steve harrington...", his voice trembles. "we, we actually went to high school together" he flashes you an awkward smile, trying to gain his suave nature back but failing miserably
you pause and think for a second before shaking your head, "i'm sorry, i don't remember a steve harrington, but i'm sure you were cool!" (you're fully lying, you just wanna humble him/embarrass him even more😈)
his face somehow gets redder and he nods, mumbling about how he understands
you slide the magazine back and wave him off, ready for the next person
as he walks to the side he looks at what you wrote:
"steve h.,
thanks so much for your support! you're my favorite fan! i'd love to see you again sometime!
xoxo..."
his fingers trace your words as he re-reads them over and over again
sure, it's just cheesy fluff that every celebrity writes
but it soon turns to a reality when he runs into you at the bar where he shows you just how much of a big fan he is...
(should i make this a full fic/series lmk...)

Hiveworks Interview with Clover, author of Go Get A Roomie! and Little Tiny Things
June 2023
Go Get A Roomie! is a queer found-family slice-of-life comic that began in 2010, featuring Roomie and her friends as they work through their internal and interpersonal struggles, as well as journeys of self discovery.
This month, Hiveworks is hosting a crowdfunding campaign to print the fourth and final volume of beloved webcomic Go Get A Roomie! by Clover.
We asked author Clover to talk about their experiences with GGAR, webcomics, and staying creative.
Tumblr media
As the creator behind several comic series, what drew you to the webcomic medium?
I first found out that webcomics existed around 2008 and had a few favorites I followed regularly. Being into drawing comics myself, the thought of doing a webcomic creeped into mind slowly but surely. I loved how accessible webcomics were, how easy it seemed to be to start one, how certain webcomic communities were. So I started one :)
Go Get A Roomie! started in 2010. The world has changed a lot since then! What was it like to post queer content online then and now?
There are way more queer webcomics now than before! Go Get a Roomie! probably partly owes its success to the fact that there weren't too many queer ongoing webcomics back then.
Readers demanded more queer content, more specific to their needs. Now there's more choice. If you don't like a queer webcomic, you can find another one without any hassle!
How has the landscape of posting webcomics online generally changed for you? Has your audience changed?
Posting for three different webcomics means discovering what it's like to have a different audience for each, though some webcomics are similar enough that the audience remains largely the same. Generally though, I've had very positive experiences with most of my audience! They've been caring, and understanding enough that I've never felt rushed, or judged for taking time off when needed.
Go Get A Roomie! has concluded and you're now onto your newest slice-of-life work, Little Tiny Things, which updates Tuesdays and Thursdays. How do you stay motivated with posting your comics regularly?
I do it because I love doing it! Not that it's always easy to maintain the same schedule, but I like knowing that the story advances at a "fast" enough pace. I want readers to discover more of what I want to show them!
In addition to LTT and GGAR, you are also the creator of Headless Bliss, a surreal comic that bends towards horror. It's very different from your slice-of-life work. How does Headless Bliss fit into your creative process and identity as an artist?
Go Get a Roomie! had a few surreal elements when a character dreamed, or told stories, and I had a lot of fun with those moments because it was so different from the slice-of-life, 4-paneled, jokes I wrote for GGAR. It meant I could explore more, narration-wise and tool-wise. But it wasn't enough, I had ideas for another story that was way more psychedelic, because I've always loved those kinds of stories too (comics like Sandman have inspired me a lot), and so Headless Bliss was born. I loved having two comics of two different vibes to jump from one to the other.
Go Get A Roomie! has been successfully crowdfunded into three books, with the fourth and final volume currently underway. What do you think are the benefits of transforming webcomics to print? What are the challenges?
Webcomics online are neat because they're accessible for so many people, for free! But having them on print means more people can enjoy them, and I'm one of those who prefer reading on print than on screen. Crowdfundings are a great way to make a little more money from your hard work, but they're also a challenge because of all the extra work that needs to be done! Preparing the book, the rewards, sure, but also managing everything else surrounding the printing and the shipping of the materials promised, and on time too! Thankfully, having Hiveworks as a partner in crime means being able to share some of all that work, it's an immense help!
Outside of comics, what do you do to refuel your inspiration?
I try to not work too much! Give myself time to do something else, to go outside, breathe a little, you know? All that is told within stories has to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is you living things.
Any advice for comic artists who find themselves stuck in a rut?
Take a break and try not to feel too guilty about it. It's okay not to be at your best all the time!
What is something you're looking forward to?
Right at this moment, settling down in my new home, to be able to work once more on comics in a nice and welcoming environment. Once that's done, I'd like to try out the more "traditional" path to publishing and start a new comic for a publishing house! While still continuing webcomics because I love doing it :)
Go Get A Roomie! Book 4 crowdfunding campaign is hosted by Hiveworks. The campaign concludes June 16, 2023, at 12pm ET.

Who is your favorite visual artist? Are there any artists you consider an inspiration?
it’s difficult to pin down just one; however, many of them has served as inspirations.
it was love at first glance with Magritte’s works. after studying some of his paintings at a young age, i became transfixed with Surrealism. i appreciate essentially all the artists of this movement—Dalí’s mind and execution is a huge fascination of mine. [albeit, he did suffer from schizophrenia.] Man Ray’s photographs are of subjective perfection. so on/so forth.
before giving a fair study to Warhol’s works, i loathed him. but he was truly so revolutionary. in my opinion he had far better works than the iconic imagery, ie: his appropriated images & portraits. as far as i’m concerned, he was thee axial point from Modern into Post-War/Contemporary art.
Holzer & Kruger’s conceptual works i likely associate myself with more deeply than anything else i’ve witnessed. my personal collage pieces contain a deal of influence from their artistry.
Weegee’s photojournalistic film captures of candid urban situations always leave me begging for more. i would’ve loved to have a conversation with him—i’d envision a ‘snarky’ demeanor.
Doré’s engravings & illustrated works i became acquainted with on here in my mid-teens. i’ll forever be perplexed & astonished by them.
i’ll conclude this ramble by sharing my favorite series: A Week of Kindness by Max Ernst. i’m constantly fighting the urge to tear up my physical copy and scan it in its entirety here. no one person’s ever established a concrete analysis on what the series summarizes—if anything—with the individual collages being absurdism at its finest.

Far too many pics of the Palais Garnier! (Part Four!)
Tumblr media
In October of 2022, I had the extraordinary experience of getting to complete an 15+ year old dream of mine to visit the Palais Garnier. I took a metric fuckton of pictures and now I want to share them with you all, the PotO community!
Before I start dumping, a few things:
Please reblog this post. I usually don’t post a lot, therefore I don’t have a big following. I’d really appreciate people sharing these as much as they can. When I was a dumb kid in ye olden days of the internet, finding a post like this was the sort of thing I would have been hyped up on for weeks. Help spread that kind of joy!
Feel free to use these photos for any sorts of graphics, artistic reference or any other fandom related projects, as long as it’s not for profit. Please just credit me in some way. In fact, I'd love to be tagged to see whatever creations come from sharing all this!
This is Part 4, which will be pictures of the stage, things that were on display and a few extra pics from my Paris trip.
Part 1 (Exterior) | Part 2 (Staircase) | Part 3 (Foyer) | Part 4 (HERE)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, we were shocked we were even allowed to see the stage at all! The day we took our tour, it was closed for rehearsals. When we came back the next just to have more time to wander around, it was closed again. Right as we were about to leave though, rehearsals finished and we got to see it! This was the view from box 25.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were lots of costumes from past productions on display throughout the halls. These were a few of my favorites.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The very impressive Opera Library!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were a few halls that have been turned into museum spaces. This painting was part of the series of concept art that was eventually turned into the ceiling paintings in the grand foyer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The outside balcony area, the grand foyer is right inside.
Extra Stuff!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The interior of La Madeleine. We couldn't get any good pictures of the exterior, as it is currently going through extensive renovations. This church was about a 15 minute walk from the Opera. In the Kay adaptation, I remember Erik making a sarcastic comment about marrying Christine here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A few shots from the Paris catacombs. If there was interest, I could also make a photo dump of this place. It was pretty extraordinary. It was very easy to imagine our favorite sewer goblin hanging out down here.
Tumblr media
Notre Dame! She is doing well after the devastating fire in 2019. Not open to the public yet, but it was very neat getting to see construction work happening while we were there! Under the scaffolding, we could see parts of the roof starting to take shape once more. Hopefully, it will be finished in time for the 2024 Olympics.
Tumblr media
While in Europe, I also stopped to see Phantom in London! This wasn't originally part of our plans but knowing I wouldn't likely be able to make it to New York to see it on Broadway before it closed, I made a priority to see it here!
This concludes my epic photo dump. If anyone has questions about anything, please ask! I will try to answer to the best of my ability. I absolutely can't wait to see how the community uses these!

Wonder Woman Reviews: Historia: The Amazons #3
By Kelly Sue DeConnick (writer), Nicola Scott (artist), Clayton Cowles (letterer), Annette Kwok (colorist).
---
Incredible.
Tumblr media
It's very fitting this book had a tribute to the tragically late-George Perez in the previous issue because now having read the concluding part of this story, it's the same kind of mythic reinterpretation of Wonder Woman's world that Perez's 80s reboot of the character was. Something DC often tries to poorly with the character, or when they don't just shoe-horn the character back into bog-standard superhero tropes.
While this isn't really a story about Wonder Woman herself, DeConnick definitely joins the great tier of Wonder Woman creators for a variety of reasons but probably first and foremost being her depiction of Hippolyta here.
As I've said in previous reviews, Hippolyta isn't a character many writers try to go deep on outside of a select few (Perez, Jimenez, Simone to name some), and even then it's rarer to see a story about her that isn't ultimately about her relationship with Diana. But other than she's almost always just "Wonder Woman's Mom" and the imposing Queen of the Amazons.
Tumblr media
So while this story has retreaded some similar ground before, it's quite refreshing to have a story where Hippolyta is largely the central focus and allowed to stand as a character on her own. And that includes having her questionable decisions that we and in-universe characters are given reasons to doubt, as we see at the end of book. And unlike previous times this has been done, it comes off as a questionable decision that character actually would make and not just character assassination like making her bang Zeus.
Tumblr media
Another bit of praise DeConnick deserves praise in this series for is her handling the pantheon. Unlike previous depictions of them in DC's comics, these depictions of the pantheon don't sway to hard in the direction of HBO/CW rejects or the more traditional togas and robes speaking in faux-Shakespeare. They actually look and speak as if the way you'd assume deities would but have some bits of dialogue here and there that don't make them to stuffy to a modern reader.
The scene between Ares and Hera would probably be my favorite "Olympus scene" in the issue. Shows a side of the two (one of which is traditionally the Big Bad of Wonder Woman media) that we don't often see in modern depictions of the Greek pantheon. Though any scene with Artemis is also pretty great.
Tumblr media
Much like Jimenez, Scott was a fan favorite Wonder Woman artist for many prior to this book so I was interested when I saw her name attached to this book how this stuff would compare to her prior work on the character in Rucka's run. And unsurprisingly, this was as much of a level up for her as it was for Jimenez when he did the first issue. A certain scene with Heracles was masterfully well done and it'd like be my favorite scene in the book for both her and DeConnick if it wasn't for the ending.
Tumblr media
After 10 years, Wonder Woman's true origin finally gets the lovingly rendered modern depiction it deserves. I know this isn't the first instance DC's done the clay origin since making Diana another offspring of Zeus but it's always to nice to not only see it get used but also treated with the respect it deserves in such a high profile project. Especially as DC otherwise blows on with the Daddy Zeus origin. This is just one page but the whole sequence probably surpasses George Perez's depiction of the event back in Gods and Mortals.
I've become fairly uninterested in the direction of DC's comics as of late, especially with the direction of Wonder Woman given what they've already announced. So this makes appreciate this book all the more as just great standalone WW-verse story without being shackled to the rest of the DC Universe. I can only hope the series has done well enough so far to greenlight the sequels.

Do you know why Krist is such a hated artist? I see that he doesn't have the best reputation especially social media wise fandom really seems to hate him but no one really ever explains why is he like Ohm/Foei really problematic or more Phuwin/Pond said some dumb stuff when he was younger just before going into BMF I want to know
the reason why no one explains why they hate krist is bc he was the first thai actor to get cancelled, and he's the only one who stayed cancelled lol so I think everyone assumes that everyone else knows krist is homophobic. basically many years ago, he posted this picture in his story after a fan asked if he's gay:
Tumblr media
he's also said he'd rather skip the gay scenes while watching friend zone the series bc no guy wants to watch that, he called a fan a stupid bitch for shipping him & gun and has refused other queer roles (until now that his career is taking a dip bc singto left gmmtv lol.) here's a good post that compiles everything.
now, your question is about whether krist is truly problematic like foei & ohm or said a dumb thing in the past that he now regrets like pond & phuwin, and the thing is that no one knows. bc of it being a repeated behavior, we KNOW krist was problematic at some point, but all of these things happened years ago at this point. has krist changed? maybe, but since he's never addressed this we'll probably never know. which is why I'll be advocating for my favorite thing in these situations: NUANCE! it's okay to acknowledge people's ability to grow & better themselves, bc it happens to all of us. but so far, have we seen significant change from him to conclude that it's all in the past? I don't think so either.
I believe that his behavior stems from a lot of toxic masculinity & insecurity in himself, which made him try to push the gay label as far from him as he could. which is NOT an excuse at all & what he did is still deffo homophobic, but thinking about the fact that kristsingto were the first thai ship to ever blow up that big puts things in perspective. I don't think they were equipped for the toxic fans tbh.
now though, will I ever be a krist fan, even if I end up potentially loving be my favorite? no. but do I hate krist? no. or do I let his presence in shows ruin them? no. he's just someone I'm very indifferent to & imo that's the best thing to do about him. hope that answered you well enough!

What do you like about the Red Sky 87 TMNT episodes?
The Unstable Mutation arc!
(oh and I like the character, Carter, too)
Not sure if that's an official name for it, but I'm a sucker for the story concept of slowly devolving into a monstrous being out of your control. Like, if y'all liked the "Good Genes" arc from TMNT 2003 or the whole "Savage Raph" thing from Rise of the TMNT, then this arc is like those, but on steroids!
I hope y'all are ready for me to ramble about one of my favorite parts of TMNT 1987, cuz that's what I'm gonna do! Thank you anon, for giving me that excuse reason! Heavy spoilers for TMNT 1987 below the cut!
Before I get into the arc, first let's have a quick overview of the "Red Sky seasons" of TMNT 1987. "Red Sky" is a fan-made name for the final 3 seasons of TMNT 1987.
For whatever reason, during those seasons the background artists started coloring the sky red. Those seasons also got a bit more plotty and dark, and had more over-arching storylines instead of being episodic. So they are referred to as the "Red Sky seasons" due to them being both figuratively AND literally more ominous!
For comparison, the Red Sky seasons are to TMNT 1987 what the Rise of the TMNT movie is to the rest of the series, or what the "Leo being thrown through a window" incident is to most other TMNT series.
And while my main critique of these seasons is that they were kind of still figuring out how to do chronological storytelling, so parts of it are a bit awkward (particularly in season 10), and there is also a severe lack of April O'Neil, it had some really cool concepts.
It introduced a pretty neat character, named Carter, who joins the turtles in fighting the bad guys:
Tumblr media
And it had the Unstable Mutation arc (spoilers below)...
As the name suggests, the basic plotline of the arc involves the turtles' mutations becoming unstable, causing them to slowly transform into much more monstrous mutants, giving them a boost in abilities and physical prowess, but at a cost of intelligence and morality. In short, they get big and feral.
Tumblr media
What I love about this arc is that it is actually paced rather well. They hint at it later on in season 8, follows through a slowly progressing destabilization throughout season 9, and then finally concludes in season 10 (the final season of the series).
It starts with them transforming suddenly, and very briefly at first, affording them a boost in strength and endurance, before they change back to their usual selves. However, another side-effect of the transformation is that it tires them out. Their first transformation literally knocks them out afterwards. As the story goes on, the transformations stay longer and of course often happen at very unfortunate moments, and it begins to effect their mental stability. As it progresses throughout the season, the unstable mutation threatens to become permanent as they lose themselves to the transformations.
Spreading the arc out in this way manages to keep up the tension really well!
Another cool aspect about the transformations themselves is that it's the first time that the turtles really look different from each other. For instance Leonardo gets some metallic-looking bits on his plastron and Donnie gets a cyborg eye. And I honestly wonder if "Rise of the TMNT" took some prompts from Raphael's unstable mutation design, because he's much spikier than the others.
Tumblr media
The whole arc comes to a head when Donatello manages to find a way to stabilize their mutation, but due to some villainous shenanigans, Leonardo's transformation gets WORSE and they have to deal with that for a couple episodes.
The consequences of the arc even ties into the villain's main plot in the end, so it actually fits together quite nicely as a whole. The character Carter, that I mentioned earlier, also has a major plot to play in the whole arc, too, and he deals with similar mutation issues throughout. There's just so much going on in these seasons and it's epic and angsty and great!
If I had to choose, I'd still say season 1 of TMNT 1987 is my fave overall, but Season 9 (where most of this arc takes place) is a very close second, and it's largely because I think the whole "unstable mutation" idea was really well-executed!
Thank you again, for the ask, anon! I feel not enough people talk about this part of 1987, and this gave me the opportunity to talk about it!

Anime Talk - In Memory of Nami Sano
As we are nearing the end of the year, I would like to bring attention to one manga artist who is no longer in this world. I write this with the intention of paying her my respects. Anything that may seem offensive have no such intention behind it.
Nami Sano was born on April 17. 1987 and died August 5. 2023. She was 36 years old and passed from cancer. She left behind many works, two of which have been animated. The first one was Sakamoto Desu ga? (Haven't You Heard, I'm Sakamoto) which was animated in 2016. The other is Migi to Dali (Migi and Dali), which was animated in 2023, the last episode airing December 25. 2023.
I have watched both these anime and want to talk a little bit about both of them. I want to start with Sakamoto Desu ga?.
The story is about a cool high school student named Sakamoto. He transfers to one school and solves problems in the coolest way possible, making friends and enemies along the way. I didn't watch the series as it aired, but it's still been a while. I do remember enjoying it a lot. It is seinen and mainly a comedy series. I can't describe it very well, so I encourage you to watch it, or at least check it out on MAL. I gave it a 7/10 ranking. This is also called "good". I will admit, comedy is not what makes me rank a series highly. My favorite part about the series is probably the titular character, Sakamoto and all the character dynamics he is part of.
As for Migi to Dali, I have quite a lot to say. I had seen the series as part of the line-up of the Fall season 2023 and was considering to watch it. I originally decided against it because I simply had too much to watch on the airdate, Monday. Yet, after another student from my university recommended it to me and mentioned that the author had passed, I decided I should at least watch the first episode and see if I liked it. I definitely did. I couldn't look away. A middle-aged couple named the Sonoyamas, living in Origon village, decide to adopt one child, just one. They find the perfect son, a 13-year-old boy named Hitori. However, there is something the couple do not realize. Hitori is not Hitori. Hitori is two 13-year-old twin boys named Migi and Dali, who both play the role of Hitori. They often swap places and pull off little tricks to make sure that no one will ever catch onto this.
I will say no more on the story. As it is a comedy, mystery and suspense story, I would hate to ruin all the fun. The final episode is great and I ended up giving it a 9/10 score (great) on MAL. If you enjoy mysteries like I do, then I can't recommend this series enough. You can check it out on MAL if you feel like it.
Knowing that this is Sano-sensei's last completed work, you would suspect it ended around the time of her death, but this is not the case. Apparently the manga finished in November 2021, long before she was diagnosed. According to Wikipedia, she was also working on a new project around the time of her death, which further proves that Migi to Dali ended as she intended.
While it is possible to tell that the author is the same through the art style, the stories of Sakamoto Desu ga? and Migi to Dali are so different it is hard to believe they are written by the same author.
What I can conclude is that Nami Sano had a creative mind with many ideas for gimics and interesting stories. It is sad that the world has lost such a great, creative mind this year. My heart goes out to her loved ones, and I hope that none of them are left alone at this difficult time.

Fanfic Writing - New Year's Resolutions
Hey fellow fic writers <3 I know it's still not the end of the year, but it's December and I'm impatient, so I would like to share with you my writing plans for 2024 and ask you to do so too, if you want to. My Ao3 for convenience is Yuujeong, where you can check out all the things I'll be referencing below. So, in my case, I *hope* that in 2024, I will be able to: - write at least one more chapter for "Little House on the Hill" (I make no promises though, I've kind of moved on from that fic, even though it holds such a special place in my heart) - write and post the third installment of my "Heroes and Villains" series (I have neglected this one for months but I hadn't figured out this fic completely up until last month, when the full picture of it came to me and I managed to get unstuck. Hopefully, next year you'll be reading it) - finish and post the sequel to "Broken Vows" (istg I haven't forgotten it, on the contrary, it haunts my dreams, it's just such a tricky little shit that I ended up asking for help about it. It'll be in such capable hands now, and I hope people will enjoy reading it) - continue my Kim&Pete fic series (the second installment won't be too difficult to write - she says, as if she doesn't need at least a month for a fic to be written and edited before posting - but the one after that will be multi-chaptered and looong, so I'll need time and a lot of effort to pull it off. 2024 *will* see this series written and concluded though, I swear) - ARMPETE!! (I have a fic I've been meaning to work on for months now and it'll probably end up not being multi-chaptered as I intended at first. Unfortunately the inspiration for more than that has run out BUT I will enrich the fandom with this rarepair or so help me-) - write at least one BostonNick fic (there's one that's the most likely to be written, which is about Boston getting a haircut and I think it's cute and would love to explore the idea. Also, a Nick character study fic because my boy deserves the world) - write smut! Yep, in 2024 we're getting horny baby (prepare for some VP somno shenanigans, because there's not nearly enough of it in the fandom and that's a huge shame) - participate in at least one fandom event (the kpts Big Bang, while stressful for multiple reasons, was incredibly fun and I would love to do something like that again - same goes for things like Secret Santa events which are cool too) - try writing fics for some of my other favorite shows besides kpts (kpts was unique in the way only TMNT has been for me before, which was it giving me so many brainworms I needed to express my self artistically in the only way I was capable. In 2024, I would like to revisit some of my favorite shows and figure out if the same can happen with them too) I probably have more to share but I'll leave it here. Now, for the tags, I'd love to see the plans of @wisteria-daydreamer @wretchedamaranth @xxhappy-chickenxx @coleslaww @raksh-writes @mightymightygnomepriest @lu-sn @suzteel @fleet-off @justanothervariant @theoldastronomer @dual-desires @emberfaye @tsttoain @thisautistic and ALL the other people who are escaping my mind rn but their works are equally important! Please, if you want to share your writing plans, do so and tag me, I'd love to see them <3

Before The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, or Who’s Who: The Definite Directory of the DC Universe, there was Lore of the Legion.
First published in Superboy (vol. 1) #202 (June 1074) .which was a 100-Page Giant issue, and concluded in issue #205 (also a Giant issue), Lore of the Legion served as a scorecard for all the members of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

The Legion, even though its membership had been capped at 25, was the largest superhero team in either the DC or Marvel universe at the time.  That was a lot of heroes to keep track of, especially for someone like me who had only recently been introduced to the Legion.
Lore of the Legion served as a fact sheet for all the Legionnaires and some of their ancillary characters.  There weren’t as many details as the later Marvel Handbook and Who’s Who would have, but you still got all the essential info you needed.
Additionally, all the Legionnaires were drawn by the late Dave Cockrum.  Cockrum had started out as an artist on various fanzines in the 1960s, but had become a professional after serving in Vietnam.  He worked as an assistant for legendary artist Murphy Anderson at DC.  Cockrum was a HUGE Legion fan, and he jumped at the opportunity when DC needed an artist for the team.
The Legion, far from its heyday in the 1960s, had been relegated to a back-up feature in Superboy.  Cockrum’s first work on the Legion was in Superboy #184 (April 1972), and response from the fans was immediate and overwhelming!  They loved the new art and direction of the series, and by issue #197 the Legion had taken over the book!
(The cover title read Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes, but the indicia still listed the official title as Superboy.  The indicia title was finally changed with issue #222.)
Cockrum’s tenure on LSH was all too brief, but he had a lasting impact.  He redesigned a majority of the Legionnaires’ costumes, as well as updated their headquarters and equipment.
Ironically, the first issue that ran these Lore of the Legion fact sheets, #202, was Cockrum’s last.  He quit due to a dispute with DC over having his artwork returned.  He then went across town and started working on an obscure comic book, entitled X-Men, that Marvel was bringing back from cancellation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Legionnaires that Cockrum redesigned were: Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Light Lass, Duo Damsel, Phantom Girl, Chameleon Boy, Colossal Boy, Star Boy, Shrinking Violet, Element Lad, Dream Girl, Princess Projector, Shadow Lass, and Timber Wolf.
Wildfire (originally Erg-1), was a brand new character co-created by Cockrum and writer Cary Bates.  Wildfire made his debut in issue #195 (as Erg-1), and became a member in issue #201.
Cockrum had designed numerous other characters that he wanted to introduce into the Legion.  Many of those designs and characters made it into X-Men when he left DC for Marvel.
This is my favorite era of the Legion, and Dave Cockrum was definitely my favorite artist on the team.  I keep hoping that someday DC will collect all his Legion stories and reprint them in a trade.  Actually, a treasury-sized book would be better, if only to do justice to the wedding of Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel from issue #200.
Oh, and before I forget, here are some of the Legion’s ancillary characters:

More questions and answers from Riley Farmer, the editor of the G5 My Little Pony comics, on Twitter! Note that she has stated that she will not be answering more questions until "maybe next Friday".
Part 1 of this post
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main G5 My Little Pony comic series "will last 5ever probably". There will be more One-Shots and miniseries after Camp Bighoof, which will conclude in December.
She is not at liberty to discuss the future of Make Your Mark.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Misty will be debuting in the comics soon! "I just want to see her exploring her freedom and powers. I'm curious to see how she'll change, and if she remains awkward and shy."
There are plans for characters like Alphabittle, Sprout and Phyllis to appear more often, and "they'll all probably show up eventually". (Alphabittle has yet to appear in the comics.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I wish Zipp was less suspicious [of Misty]! I'm excited to see them grow as friends."
In her opinion, the wackiest or weirdest MLP crossover would involve "something super dark". "Like, imagine the Dark Knight meeting Fluttershy. But then again, Adam West Batman and Pinkie Pie would be fun… I think Star Wars would be a difficult sell."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her favorite ponies are Pinkie Pie, Izzy Moonbow, and Pickle Barrel (Natalie Haines's OC, not the pony from Rainbow Roadtrip).
She can't draw, so she doesn't have a favorite G5 pony to draw.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"All of my artists are remote! From all across the world."
In an artist portfolio shown to IDW, it would technically be sufficient to include storyboards and animatics as "sequential artwork", but she'd "prefer to see actual comic samples if you want to do interior art work".

Fem February: Black Canary
Ahh, DC Comics, my forever home, it feels like, where fandom is concerned.
And specifically my beloved, the incomparable Dinah Lance aka Black Canary? WHOO HOO.
Black Canary has been through many changes, and I may have given away the answer by naming 'Dinah Lance' instead of 'Dinah Drake', as to who my favorite is. Even still, WHICH Dinah Lance is my favorite?
Justice League: Year One may have come LATE on the scene, but it codified the Justice League Origins that had been in play since Crisis had concluded. Wonder Woman had not been a founding member of the League — Black Canary was.
This Black Canary is short (5'4" was her most often given height), young (at 19 she was the youngest founder), dealing with mommy issues (seriously, Crisis's changes set Mama Canary up to be a difficult stumbling block in Baby Canary's growth), and she was the 'well the JSA did it this way' voice on the team.
This particular version did not contradict the one I'd been following even longer, the one fleshed out by Mike Grell. But ASP! HE MUTILATED HER?!
Yes. Grell stripped the Canary of her voice, put her at death's door, and then, over the course of 75 issues, showed her growing into a new kind of tough while putting her through hell at Oliver Queen's side. The reason I still prefer The Longbow Hunters concept for Dinah is that she OVERCAME GRAVE ODDS and is still committed to being the best damn vigilante she can be.
That said, I keep the pre-Crisis story of her being Roy's savior. I don't see a conflict there. I keep the Gotham-born, grew up on the West Coast implied by mixing the canons she's present in. And, most of all, these make a wonderful cocktail shaker that delivers the penultimate Black Canary:
Birds of Prey Black Canary.
All of Justice League, all of Green Arrow's solo book, even her mostly-panned solo miniseries evolve into the woman that takes Oracle's offer to fly under the radar and kick ass, take names, and make the world a little safer. I faithfully followed the original miniseries and one shots, then the first series of the book through so many artist and writer changes with absolute delight and glee. She was older, she was jaded, she held her ground, she was selfless when it mattered, she cared…
Just. Everything I needed in a woman that was at one point in time considered to be in the top ten of DCU's martial artists. (Richard Dragon, Cassandra Cain, and Shiva are all considered better than her. For a time, the jury was out on if she or Connor Hawke was the better, and Tim Drake was up in here during that era. In at least one issue, Batman says she is better than he is.)
I love, adore, and worship the woman that Dinah Lance was between Crisis and Identity Crisis, considering her my end-all, be-all favorite of that character.
(Honorable mentions to the animated TimmVerse Canary, but TimmVerse got a LOT of my faves perfectly. And the spin they took in the Birds TV show was intriguing, but there, it was Mama Canary that stole my heart with her brief appearances.)

Sharon Kovacs - Volkskrant Magazine - mention of Till
Volkskrant magazine (dutch) edition 2023-02-18, on the release of her new album Child of Sin
Tumblr media
This article always has a short interview with an artist or person in the media, and they talk about their favorites. For Sharon Kovacs those are Diva: Marlene Dietrich, Books: Non fiction crime, Type of concert: Theatershow, Diva (2): Eartha Kitt, City: Istanbul, Food: McDonald's, Fashiondesigner: Vivian Westwood, Instrument: Strings (violins, cellos etc). in the short interview there is a mention of Till Lindemann.
In my best attempt at translation:
Sharon Kovacs carries a lot of history with her. She hardly knows her biological father and in her early childhoodyears she had a stepfather. In old interviews here and there, there are covert mentions of abuse. At 12 she was placed out of home and from that time she lived in a series of foster families. Kovacs: "For a long time I suffered from depressions and fears. When in the Covid-years those become so strong that it made me feel all alone, I realisedmy mother is the only one who has always been there for me. Even though there's still much pain and unspoken things."
She has moved in with her mother on a small farm in the Eindhoven area. The song Mama tells about the reunion. She took up painting and sewing clothes. Pointing at her bat-outfit in candy-colors "Made it myself too".
And then she roped, the admired by her, Till Lindemann, frontman of the worldfamous band Rammstein for a duet. She sings with him the titlesong, which refers to herself and on which Lindemann with that theatrical grave voice, dins she is a child of sin. A choir follows with tar and feathers. She had said in the media before it was a requirement Lindemann would sing. "I don't know if I would have dared to publish the song without Till. Because, for, yes, I don't know, it's.." At that those busy hands (note: earlier in the interview is mentioned how she expresses her fleeting thoughts with fluttering hands) eventually land back safely in her lap and she sighs.
"Releasing a single like that, may be calling out something you're not quite ready for. That people will start asking questions about abuse. The fact alone that I'm talking about it. Till is a bit of my lightning rod. The intent is that people watch the video and say 'Look at that, that is Till Lindemann of Rammstein!' and they forget about me." She bursts out laughing.
Is Sharon Kovacs okay again? She seems to conclude so in Mama, the final song on Child of Sin. I've spent so long hoping / And now that you've opened your eyes / I'm fine / I'm fine / I'm fine. Kovacs: No, I'm not there yet. I'm still a long way off, but I have come a long way already".

For AO3 Wrapped: can you please answer all? 💋
Right. So by popular demand (hahahahaha)
ao3 wrapped [writers edition]
1. How many words have you written this year?
121,711 words were published on AO3, and I have another 10k sitting in drafts, so...quite a lot? 2022 brings up my total word count on AO3 since 2017 when I first started posting on AO3 to 853,262..which..blows my mind, honestly.
Putting the rest under the cut!
2. How many works did you publish this year?
6 works, in total. This is the year when I used AO3 to “archive” rather than “publish”, which I will talk about in another year end post, maybe. But as a quick round up:
For Twenty Five, Twenty One : Rival which gives Na Heedo and Ko Yurim the romance they and we deserved, and Hakuna Matata which is a light romp in which two besties take twenty years to do what their moms had planned for them all along.
The bulk of my work   was for an entirely made up fandom :  The Chung Jung One Soy Sauce ad ft Lee Jung Jae & Jung Woo sung  aka the Terms of Surrender series (3 works and counting), which I’ll probably continue into the next year.
I tried to FIX Lee Jung Jae’s directorial debut “Hunt”, which features his bestie/soulmate/jagiya Jung Woo Sung in Juche, which is the first of a planned two-part series.
3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)?
I answered this as Rival, yesterday, but I think Juche also is pretty good.
4. What work of yours has the most hits?
Rival
As a side note, AO3 doesn’t allow me to track hits on older works in the current year, but the 2020 fic I wrote for TKEM still gets a lot of hits, perhaps from re-reads, and there are even people clicking on my older Black Sails and The Rise of Phoenixes fic, which I am grateful for.
5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
I have very very few readers this year compare to last few- which was as expected. But! Terms of Surrender got a comment from someone who’d subscribed to my work and just jumped into a completely niche fic and it melted my heart a bit!  I still get comments on older fic that I didn’t expect anyone to be reading- just yesterday, my notifications were filled by someone working their way through my fic for Serenade of Peaceful Joy, and that was completely unexpected because (a) it was a terrible show and (b) it was a flop and (c) the fandom is dead and buried, and should stay that way.
6. Favorite title you used
“Instructions for Dancing”
7. If you use song lyrics, which artist’s songs did you pull from the most?
I was trying to recall if I’ve used song titles more than once -”Instructions for Dancing” this year is from  “The Book of Love” by The Magnetic Fields- and I think I’ve only done it once before, using a David Gray song lyric -Tell the Stars Above (You’re the One I Love)- for the concluding part of the Stars’ verse in TKEM.
8. Pairing you wrote the most for this year?
I’ve answered this before, but just to elaborate for the ones wondering why I had to make up a fandom to write in - Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung  (aka the Cheongdam Couple) are actors, producers, directors and have been the best of friends for 20 plus years. I just find their entire deal so damn charming and lovely- imagine being able to have that in such a brutally unforgiving industry. However, their combined filmography is largely what I put in the column of “TRAGICALLY UNWATCHABLE” and I feel I’m just inventing the stories that I wish they’d make and star in. They’ve only acted in two movies together- 1998′s City of the Rising Sun, which is a really good, fun film and 2022′s Hunt, directed by Lee Jung-jae, which was mediocre on the whole, though with some undeniably good elements. I just want the ahjussis to make the movies in which they are as soft with each other onscreen as they are irl, and failing that I’m going to have to write the fic. It is what it is. * shrug hands emoji *
9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?
I’ve written almost 100k words (including WIPs) for the characters Jang Do-chul and Kang Hong-gi; the protagonists in a fictional universe being collaboratively created by me and my babygirls (real) @rain-hat  and @elderflowergin
10. What work was the quickest to write?
I think I wrote both Hakuna Matata and Instructions for Dancing in a day. (They’re quite short!)
11. What work took you the longest to write?
I took about three months to write  the Terms of Surrender series, that was a total of ~ 75 k words .
12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?
I’ve answered this before- not too many- 3. Two are continuations of Terms of Surrender and The Exiles series, and one is a different fictional universe for the Cheongdam couple. But my head is teeming with ideas for stuff, time will tell if any of it will actually make it to a document. :D
13. What’s your longest work of the year?
Longest single work: Terms of Surrender.
14. What’s your shortest work of the year?
Shortest single work: Instructions for Dancing.
15. What WIP are you taking into next year with you?
I don’t publish WIPs for good reason- I’m never sure whether I will finish them, so there’s nothing on AO3 that’s in progress as such. But as I mentioned above, there are a couple of WIPs in google docs that I hope to plug away at.
16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?
Oh, this turns out to be a little hard to figure out, but I guess it would be the most boring- “Romance” ;)
17. Your favorite character to write this year?
I really, really enjoyed writing both Jang Do-chul and Kang Hong-gi, as well as the assorted characters I’ve put into  Terms ‘verse, but shout out to Ko Yurim (Rival) and Park Pyung ho (Hunt).
18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
I didn’t much- one of the reasons is that the characters I spent most time on were sort of entirely original creations (with very little reference to any particular established canon), and that was freeing.
19. What’s one pairing you want to explore next year?
I’ve been spending some time thinking about another pairing that exists nowhere but in my head and a discord chat- based off a tumblr post that I can’t find now- but basically it would be Tang Wei and Kim Hye soo starring in a Hallmark Christmas movie- with some twists.
20. Which work of yours have you reread the most?
I go back to 2020′s Destiny’s Child for a comfort read, but from this year, I think it’s been Moon River, and I re-read Juche sometimes to get me to think some more about the sequel.
21. How many kudos in total did you get this year?
257
22. Which work has the most comments?
Rival
23. Did you do any collaborative works this year?
I feel that @rain-hat and @elderflowergin are my co creators for the Terms of Surrender ‘verse and also Juche, though I wrote the stories. They wouldn’t exist without my babygirls, my cheerleaders and fic conspirators. (Sorry y’all, I’m just very EMO about them)
24. Did you write any gifts this year?
Yes! Terms ‘verse and Hakuna Matata for Gin and Rain.
25. Did you receive any gifts this year?
Yes! Gin wrote The Process of Discovery for Rain and meeee. (Niche pairing, best writer, you GUYSSSS)
And in creative works that were not really gifts for me but felt like it:
@revolutionaryjo did amazing, beautiful podfic for not one, but three of my fics: 2 parts of The stars are filming us for no one and Aphrodite Comes Calling , all three for TKEM fandom
@rhea314 did a stunning podfic of Tell Me the Truth About Love  and it made me cry and fall in love with my own fic again.
26. What’s your most common category?
M/M
27. What do you listen to while writing?
I’ve taken to making playlists for thinking about fic- thematic playlists- usually because something in the lyrics pings me as appropriate for the characters. I find music distracting when I’m actually writing.
28. Favorite work you wrote this year?
I can’t choose between my fic this year, I wrote them all at different points in the year and love certain elements in all of them.  I love Rival because it’s funny and cute and achy; and I love Terms ‘verse because it’s a love letter to my two years of kdrama/ movie watching and also because it made my babygirls laugh and cry and I think Juche turned out to be crisp and delicious, even if tonally very different from everything else I wrote this year...sowwie! I can’t choose between them!
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
Again, hard for me to choose and I’m sure my answer will change next week!
Single line, from Rival: “ Here’s how it works: When Heedo’s around, nothing is out of reach, not even happiness. “
Passage, from Juche:
“Last stop,” calls the driver from front. “Ahjussis, you getting out or what?”
The others had already disappeared, Pyung-ho catches a last glimpse of blue as the ahjumma got down.
“We’re taking the bus back, ahjussi,” Kim Jeong-do calls back.
The driver stares at them both, and then shrugs.
“Fifteen minute break,” he says, “You can sit here or get out.”
“Do you want to-”
“No.”
“We’re fine here, ahjussi, thanks.”
The driver grunts, and gets off, leaving the door open.
A cold draught of air fills the bus.
Kim Jeong-do opens the window, asking, “Smoke?”
“Those can kill you,” Pyung-ho says, “You know that right?”
“Not fast enough,” says Jeong-do, and Pyung-ho can’t help the chortle that escapes him.
Jeong-do smiles too, eyes crinkling at the corners.
It makes him look handsome.
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
To have been able to write at all, in the midst of a bad mental health year has been a surprise and a blessing. And this isn’t a new feature- it happens all the time- but I’m somehow also always shocked by how stories take a life of their own and go where they will, just dragging you along. It’s the best thing, really.

Louis Tomlinson Hugs His Biggest Fan on ‘Late Late Show,’ Reminisces About Horrifying One Direction Hotel Pranks
Billboard, September 14 2022
"That is an actual torture," James Corden said of one of the singer's pranks.
Louis Tomlinson has the most dedicated fans. James Corden proved it to him on the Late Late Show on Tuesday night (Sept. 13) when he presented the former One Direction star with a series of images featuring some of the creative signs at gigs on Tomlinson’s recently concluded world tour.
“Delayed surgery for this,” read one. “Don’t do that!” Tomlinson laughed in response. Others read, “If u want another dog I can bark” and “You’re like my tea: hot & British.” Louis said the signs definitely make him chuckle sometimes, but they’re also so distracting that if he tries to read them while singing, he often forgets his lyrics.
The best sign, though, was from a fan who double-fisted it, with one reading, “I have Faith in the Future that I will meet u today!” along with a “To do list” that just read “Meet Louis Tomlinson” three times. That young woman, Jessica, began waiting in line many hours before the late-night show’s taping, and when Corden asked if Tomlinson could help her cross things off her list, he happily obliged and ran up into the crowd to give her a huge hug.
Louis also answered the most pressing question: How does he keep himself entertained on the road? The singer described a favorite pastime that began in his 1D days and has carried through to the present. Basically it involves torturing any member of his entourage who goes to bed a bit too early after a night of drinking. “I get a master key in the hotel, which lets me in to every single room,” he explained, recalling a time a few weeks ago when one of his managers turned in before 11.
“Didn’t do anything too bad, just screamed in his face, seen him cower a little bit and ran out,” Tomlinson explained. “Just silly antics you get up to on tour.”
Corden, however, noted that “that is actually how they torture people.” Without skipping a beat, Tomlinson then gleefully recalled that in the 1D days, they once grabbed an ice bucket of water and threw it on a sleeping security guard, then watched as the unwitting man was shocked out of his slumber after sucking up the water and thinking he was drowning.
“NO!!!” Corden yelled as Tomlinson said it was “the best” night. “That is an actual torture,” Corden and fellow guest Adrien Brody agreed. “What you’re describing as great hijinks is genuinely trauma-building for these people,” James said.
Tomlinson stuck around to play the ballad “Bigger Than Me” from his upcoming album Faith in the Future. “It was challenging coming out of a band the size of One Direction and then kind of finding your feet musically,” he said about his 2020 debut solo album, Walls. And though he’s “immensely” proud of that album, the singer described the trial and error process one goes through at the start of your career as a way of saying that Faith more clearly defines him as an artist. “It makes me really proud, definitely,” he said.
As for the most difficult question Corden had cued up for his old friend — one he said he gets pretty much every time he goes on social media — i.e., will he kidnap Tomlinson and the former members of 1D? “It makes me uncomfortable,” Corden admitted as Tomlinson wondered why anyone would want that.
“I could kidnap you and put you in a room and make you perform together one more time,” Corden surmised of the strange requests. “Are you open to being kidnapped?” he wondered.
“That’s definitely a question I’ve never been asked before,” Tomlinson said with a pleasantly concerned look. “By the right person,” he concluded, before asking what the exact process would be and then laughing when James said it would probably involve a master key of some sort.
Watch Tomlinson chat about his hotel hijinks and perform “Bigger Than Me” below.
