dungeon meshi will tell you "come closer im a normal fantasy slice of life manga" and then 27 chapters later you're watching two people re-assembling the skeleton of their sister/best friend because she was entirely digested by a dragon throughout all these past chapters and these sparse bones are literally all that remains of her to resurrect her
you should be able to report to someone’s therapist that they are engaging in self-victimization and cannot be trusted to recount the events in their life as they actually happened
I just absolutely adore how much love was clearly put into bg3. I just finished the game and as I was skimming through the credits I stopped to read some of the thank you messages ppl left for their loved ones, their families, their DnD groups, their pets, and for the ppl they lost in the past few years, and I was bawling my eyes out and am still tearing up honestly. This was clearly a labour of love and it's so heartwarming to see ppl being able to bring to life something that is so dear to their hearts
the icarly writers really missed out by forgetting they made spencer an artist because in reality he would be a part of the greater seattle polycule and that's already a good set up for spencer-related hijinks
I think this last page is so good because I believe this is Sylvia's moment of truth. Not only with her brother but with herself.
The key is in the flashback.
The flashback is the scene when Sylvia downplays her own artistic abilities. And she denies the desire to dedicate herself to art because 1. She came from a family of blacksmiths and 2. It was just a hobby, it was not that serious.
I'm not that interested, I'm not that good, I don't care that much, my family are blacksmiths I couldn't do good art. Excuses. For herself. We all know that's not true and so does Iruma. That's why he involves her in everything that had to do with art: Go to the Art Battler, talk to Zeze's brother, convince Beem and work with them on the painting.
It was so that she could at least make art without pressure to admit that she wanted to do it. And during all that, she says she is enjoying herself, she is enjoying doing art.
Then Beem's piece is banned and when everyone feels bad about it, she is devastated (so are Beem, but in a different way). And seeing Beem give up that quickly infuriates her, she hates how they lie to themselves, pretending like they don't care, that not being able to make art and show it doesn't hurt them at all; putting excuses, like she did before.
And now that she is the one painting, a dangerous task, she has to convince her brother why it is important. And when she remembers what she said before, she probably realized that she can't say it again, she can't say that she will risk her well-being for a hobby. She can't keep lying to herself and can't lie to her brother (especially when he is always so honest with his own desire and passion) She has to admit what art really means to her.
