Here is a full list of all the books I read in 2023 and links to the art I’ve made for them.
Just a few quick notes. I didn’t make art for everything I read. I also fell off the wagon a bit toward the end and went through an art block. Not sure if I’ll continue this project into 2024 but I might do some variation. We’ll see.

Total Reads For 2023: 95
My goal was to read 90 books and I beat that by 5. I think I’m going to set my reading goal to just 80 this year. Just to give myself a little more freedom. I did read a lot of really short books just to get my number up and I’d rather just focus on reading whatever I want.
Shortest book read: Ice Planet Honeymoon: Raahosh and Liz by Ruby Dixon
Longest book read: Winter by Marissa Meyer
Current read started in 2023 but will finish in 2024: The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

Questions for the fanfic writers about Leon S. Kennedy's lack of background story: How do you deal with it?
I've been haunted by this problem for MONTHS and I needed to spit it out. I feel like Tumblr is a better place for long text and reasoned discussion, and most importantly: fanfic writers.
It's long and I sincerely look forward to your opinions. Even though I only draw Cleon, I didn't mention any ship in this post so I won't add ship-related tags here; if you're gonna list examples based on your ship, please respect each other.
So hear me out:
The best part and the worst part about Leon S. Kennedy is that HE DOESN'T HAVE A BACKGROUND STORY and a CONSISTENT characteristic development...and it's driving me insane.
The benefit of it is that I can shape his past into whoever I want to fit my stories. But it brings out a bigger problem: the development is solely depending on my understanding & knowledge of character design. He's pretty much a blank sheet of paper, except he's extremely famous, and I don't want to stray too far away from the canon info that we've got on him(and get "canceled" for OOC).
(I don't actually write stories into fics, but I DO write short scripts for my art when they are intended to be a series. I guess the prep work to start anything is the same: write it down in words, then expand the idea.)
I love AUs and I'm more interested in sci-fi/fantasy than modern/zombie-apocalypse kinda thing. But when I wanted to dig deep into their backgrounds, to start world-building, there's NOTHING for me. It's so frustrating.
For example, I'm currently working on a Monster Hunter AU based on the RE4R DLC Hero Outfit, which basically is the whole RE gang running around in the woods hunting supernatural creatures. (Not just CAPCOM's MH series but with the general mythical creatures, werewolves .etc)
And they have a Hunter's Guild, different tribes and clans, you know the drill. Since the setting was in a fantasy world, their surnames have caused me great pain from the start.
The easiest one is Redfield. It can be interpreted as "fertile land" or "battleground", and from these I immediately have quite a few visual ideas of how they'd look like, and what they'd do for a living. Chambers, Valentine, and Oliveira are "OK", but the surname Kennedy doesn't fit in ANYWHERE.
(Yes, I googled. It's Irish; but let's be honest, our first impression was a certain American political family.)
Then I read this article that shares a similar concern: Is Resident Evil 4’s Leon S. Kennedy Italian? An investigation
It pretty much sums up the most common FANDOM theories of Leon's background info. But all of them are still just, headcanons.
The more I try to dig in, the lack of this crucial element--a character's canon background story--is really blocking me to create things I enjoy. Even though I've been drawing him for almost 50 pieces of fan art, I still don't know what he's actually like. I can only imagine his personality by referencing other fictional characters/actors whom I think share a resemblance. (I have a soft spot for Keanu Reeves, Faramir from TLOR, and Sanji from One Piece. But that's another story for another time.)
Of course, I'm aware of the fact that, instead of spending this huge amount of time to rewrite a fictional character I don't own, I can create my own OCs and build everything from scratch. But that's not the point. I only started playing video games in 2019 when I bought a Nintendo Switch; and my first-ever, modern game experience was Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The whole game-wise fandom and RE series are pretty new to me. But I've been in fandoms of books/movies/TV shows for over a decade. It shocked me that Resident Evil, this world-popular series has almost 30 years of history but non of the main characters have a consistent background that follows through the in-game timeline. There're huge gaps between the games even if we add all of the movies in it. How did that work? How do you get to know them? How do you get attached enough to write your own fan story?
In conclusion, I don't think I like Leon S. Kennedy, cuz he remains a mystery. Instead, I just combine all of the good qualities of other characters I like, create my version of Leon Kennedy, and hopefully pray that when he reappears in a new RE work, I didn't do him wrong.

hello! i hope this isn't too weird but i'm a former winchester mystery house employee who checks the tag on a semi regular basis and i saw your post about the house not following traditional haunting rules and you are 100% correct!! among tour guides i don't think any of us believe the "she was trying to confuse spirits" or "a medium told her to build" narratives. popular theory among tour guides is literally just that she liked building (a pet theory of mine is that sarah may have been autistic and architecture was a special interest for her) and that there were likely no ghosts during her lifetime. the ghosts we're currently aware of are almost entirely former employees, and i expect in a hundred years or so those spirits will move on and the house will be full of ghostly tour guides.
this turned into a long ramble but basically you are totally right and i am SO glad to see someone who recognizes sarah as more than just "crazy ghost lady". i hope your essay went well :)
Hi!
OMG! An actual employee! My report was rushed and I didn't get enough to talk about the architecture, but I got an A. Captive of the Labyrinth by Mary Ignoffo (one of the few non-ghost centered sources I could find) does paint her as a bit of a "recluse" and "loner child" and there are a couple behaviors of hers that do feel like they could be Autistic (I speak as an Autistic myself trying to learn as much as they can about Autism for personal reasons). Mary also says that Lenard Pardee, Sarah's dad, worked in woodwork and had his own company and that during the height of Victorian architecture and design becoming like a worldly go-to style which may have influenced her as well. You might know more than I do on the matter- I can't find any records of his company and I currently don't have the book to investigate a source.
It would make a lot more sense ghost-logic-wise if Sarah herself or people that worked at the estate or frequently visited were the ghosts. Or if whoever owned the supposed original farmhouse that didn't pass on after Sarah started building would have done that.
I was watching a debunking video (one of those really lengthy ones) and I figured given how much everyone talks about the ghost stories in relation to Sarah while sleeping on the fact that this was a female philanthropist of the 19th-20th century trying her hand at architecture. It made for a good, original-ish Art History Senior thesis paper and I just wish I could have properly researched and wrote more about the art and architecture. There's way too much misinformation about her and ghosts.
Sorry- I'm rambling too lol. According to my research- she did just like building and really just wanted to make a really grand Victorian estate, taking bits and pieces of several movements or from county fairs and adapting parts of it to accommodate to her aging body. The 1906 earthquake also had a big impact on the "stairs that lead to nowhere". I'd say "grieving Autistic woman with special interest in building" is a lot more plausible than "ghosts murdered by rifle patented by husband's company has beef with wife or wants to help her build a house to prolong her life". I do believe in ghosts, but I really REALLY believe Sarah Winchester was done dirty by being associated with ghosts.

Thanks @real-life-senshi for tagging me! I rarely do these kinds of 'get-to-know-you' posts but why not?
The Rules: Tag (9) people you want to know better and/or catch up with, then answer the following:
Four Ships:
Victuuri (Victor Nikiforov x Yuuri Katsuki, Yuri!!! On Ice): I got pulled into the YOI fandom when someone I was following started posting what I thought at the time was an annoyingly excessive number of YOI-related memes and gifs. I ended up watching the series out of curiosity to know what the hype was all about and enjoyed it a lot, which led me to find other people equally interested and talking about it around here, and ultimately led me to the wider world of AO3 where I found many talented writers both in this fandom and others. So I would like to take this opportunity to formally thank the aforementioned YOI-meme poster who unwittingly introduced me to the fandom: @rosepetalrevolution please receive my most heartfelt thanks and this metaphorical gift basket 🎁
Judiki (Julian x Dick Kirrin, Famous Five): If you've been around my blog lately, you know I've been introduced to this pairing by the lovely and talented @sweetsorcery and @majormcnerdy-geekinfantry-blog. This pairing was an unexpected and delightful find that is now living rent free in my head.
Zeus x Ganymede (Greek mythology): @littlesparklight is solely responsible for my discovery and enjoyment of this ship! This prolific writer has also produced many different works around various Greek myths, both shippy and non-shippy, and I can only urge you to visit her AO3 page.
Writers x Readers x Artists: I love collabs. I love when a reader makes a comment that sparks a future idea for a writer. I love when an artist surprises a writer with art for their fics, or when a writer makes a snippet based on a piece of art. Just keep that virtuous circle going!
(I just realised that the 3 ships I listed are all MM but that's not exclusively representative to my tastes. I equally enjoy MF or FF or any other combinations!)
Last Song: The Eurovision 2023 playlist that I listened on repeat for my ratings. I don't really listen to a lot of music on my own; I find it too distracting when I'm reading or looking stuff up on my computer. I listened to music a lot more when I used to draw, though; I always had music as a background then.
Currently Reading: Bill Bryson's The Body: A Guide for Occupants (non fiction) ... as well as a lot of ongoing fics on AO3 -- mostly original works but some fanfics too.
Last Movie: That would be Alexandre Astier's Kaamelott (Premier Volet), based on the legend of King Arthur. It started as a short-format humoristic TV series made of 3-minute episodes, then evolved into 50-minute episodes as the plot got more involved and explored deeper concepts, and the conclusion should now be in the form of a movie trilogy, the first one of which was released a couple of years ago. For a long time, my awareness of the franchise was mainly about the earlier 3-minute humoristic episodes, as they benefit from regular (but out of sequence) reruns on TV. Only recently did I watch the full 6 seasons in the order they were meant to be watched, which greatly enhances the experience. I hope they can get the final two movies made!
Craving: TIME. Seriously. Give me time to read the growing pile of books sitting on my 'to-read' shelf. Give me time to re-read books I've enjoyed in the past and see if I have the same outlook now as I did then. Give me time to read and re-read and comment on AO3 fics. Give me time to resume drawing and learn how to properly use digital art tools. Give me time to practice the piano again. Give me time to exercise so I can feel fitter and stronger in my body. GIVE ME TIME.
Tagging: Absolutely no pressure doing this! Just tagging some of my mutuals and people whose posts and contents always brighten up my dash :) @moonwhing @proantagonista (whom I have not mentioned above but whose YOI fic "Winter Song" was one of the earliest I read and convinced me there was really good stuff to be found in fanfic) @sweetsorcery @majormcnerdy-geekinfantry-blog @littlesparklight @rosepetalrevolution @happyheidi @somethingyoirelated @sheepskeleton-art

*Important!!* “What to Expect from This Blog”
Blog Background:
I originally created this blog to share links to my various writing endeavors in one place and while it still functions as such, I am branching out more in what I reblog and post to include other things I am interested in, therefore, in this post, I want to clarify what potential viewers can expect from this blog
I am an adult and will occasionally be posting things related to adulthood and adult themes
What I will be posting:
Check out my Tags Masterlist to see a breakdown of my tagging system
As I stated above, this blog was originally created to share my writing updates, so you can expect the occasional self-promotion of my essays, books reviews, fanfiction, novellas, short stories, short screenplays, and poems
On this blog, my reblogs and non-writing update posts will relate to general things that interest me, so they will cover a wide range of topics from cool art that came up on my feed to thoughts about life to think-pieces regarding identity
All of my posts and reblogs, unless I have tagged them otherwise as NSFW (not-safe-for-work), will be non-graphic and/or SFW (safe-for-work) besides the occasional swearing
I will occasionally reblog and post things related to current events and politics as a left-leaning person, so if that makes you feel uncomfortable, you are welcome to block me
At the same time, please don't take my occasional reblogs/posts on current events/politics to be representative of everything I am doing or believe regarding a particular issue; of course, I'm not perfect and I have my blindspots, but I have a life outside of Tumblr and if I reblog/post something about a particular topic here, it does not mean that I am ignoring other issues or not doing other things to support particular movements in my life outside of Tumblr
I like talking about my identity, particularly as an adoptee, as such, you can expect some content on that topic; once again, if that makes you uncomfortable, I do not mind if you block me
Notes about NSFW tagging:
On this blog, I will tag posts NSFW if they describe or show sex, violence, gore, severe wounds, nudity, slurs, and pornography in extremely graphic detail
For me, non-graphic means that posts can still mention directly or indirectly any of the above as long as it is not shown/described in extreme detail, so I still encourage you to block me if you feel uncomfortable
Just because I tagged something NSFW does not mean I believe the original post to be bad; I am just protecting potential viewers who may be coming to my blog with histories and backgrounds I have no idea about
If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding how I tag NSFW content, please DM me or send me an ask; I am happy to discuss and listen
What I would appreciate from viewers:
Please do not repost my essays, book reviews, fanfiction, novellas, short stories, short screenplays, and poems without permission to other sites or copy and paste them into a separate Tumblr post; you are, of course, welcome and encouraged to reblog, comment on, and like them though if you choose to
If you’re confused about something I wrote, shared, or reblogged, I encourage you to DM me or send me an ask; I am always happy to clarify and listen to concerns made in good faith
This should go without saying, but you don’t have to agree with me; it’s okay to comment on and/or reblog my posts with counter-arguments, ignore a post I wrote/reblogged, or, as stated above, reach out to me for clarification because like everyone else in this world, I’m not perfect and I am always happy to learn from different perspectives
On that note, if you are arguing with me that people of certain races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual/romantic orientations, religions, etc. don’t deserve to exist, be respected, or fight for their liberation or rights without any intention of listening to and learning from the perspectives of people from marginalized backgrounds, then I will not engage in dialogue with you
Critical thinking is so important to me and I completely believe you do not need a college degree to take a few moments and think through context, emotions, evidence, etc. to make a strong argument and critique others’ (including mine!!)
Another thing that should go without saying is that you are welcome to block me if any of my posts make you uncomfortable; I don’t know your history and background and while I try to be sensitive in what I post and reblog, I know I’ll make mistakes without realizing it, so please do what you have to in order to protect yourself

Glory on the artist: Vita Sleigh
I make drawings which combine detail with mixed-media texture; most often I use a combination of watercolours, coloured and graphite pencils, sometimes combining digital elements. I have an interdisciplinary practice which spans illustration, writing, activism and research. I am interested in what can be told of the outside through coming to know the shape of the inside: my work explores interior worlds, often visiting themes of gender, queerness and queer relating, human-nonhuman interactions and experiences of injustice. I also come back to enduring inspirations such as folklore, psychoanalytic theory, and the sea. I am currently studying an MA in Gender, Sexuality and Culture at Birkbeck University. Illustration commissioners have included The History Press, Popshot and Firewords poetry journals, and Unbound. Publishers of my written work include Animals and Society Institute, Vegan Feminist Network and Dark Mountain Project. (vitasleigh.com)
I found Vita Sleigh's work through a conversation between Tom White from Fruit Journal and Maria Sledmere and Colin Herd.
Sleigh's essay Making Oddkin: Relationships in the Cracks is a brilliant piece that can be found on their website and in the Spring '22 issue of the Dark Mountain Project (theme: confluence).
The essay investigates fluid sociality, non-monagamy, and is book-ended by reflections on the binaries that starve us of knowing each other and the world. They weave together a beautiful range of poetic, politics, and portraits of their own relationships - I pray a book is in the works I would buy several copies.
They also have a linktree that includes a page of polyamory and anarchic relationship resources. I haven't check them out yet but appreciate the signpost a lot.
As a side note to myself, I need to make Glory on Donna Haraway and Bayo Akomolafe also. I've been tired a lot at the moment and am absorbing more than excreting (...)
Sleigh's essay on non-human pain Nonhuman Consent: On Touching Other Animals provoked me to reflect on my own relationship to my ex-vegetarianism/veganism and consent around the cats and dogs in my life:
Recently, to better understand the experience of the animals I interact with, I have been trying to imagine what it’s like to do what they do, and how they experience it. For example, I watched dogs in a busy street being stroked by passers by – what are they experiencing? Pleasure? Shock and surprise? Irritation? Violation, even? Certainly, this will be different for each individual and probably at different times, too. (veganfeministnetwork.com)
Sleigh's methodology of imagination as tool for understanding also reminded me of the conversation around Feminist Philosophy of Mind, 2022, ed. Keya Maitra and Jennifer McWeeny.
I'm thinking specifically of Amy Kind and Janine Jones' comments on the limits of imagination as empathy in particular power structures: Kind's essay in the anthology examines the gender bias in the Turing Test and Jones' examines the failings of white empathy. Kind also made a reference to Sam Liao's exploration on the right not to be imagined - although I haven't read this work so can't comment but am very intrigued to see how it would apply to human-animal empathy methodologies. Linked below:
Feminist Philosophy of Mind is not yet available to b u y online, but I'm linking the discussion below:

Sleigh's visual art is just fucking gorgeous. They are organic and fluid forms that really embody the artist's ethos as a being. Each subject seems celebrated individually in their stylised world - I particularly resonate with their hybrid jellyfish figures and they remind me of my utopic visual 'interruptions' of figures born from whale hearts.

Research | Personal Branding - Initial Realisations
Tumblr media
This module has us think about who we are as people, what we want to do and how we want to represent ourselves. Who am I? What makes Drew (that's me), Drew?
First, I analyzed my current portfolio and art style to try and identify any strengths and weaknesses, a SWOT analysis if you will. As mentioned earlier, I plan on focusing on 2D animation and illustration and mixed media artwork for now, so my work mainly capitalizes on these aspects. I realised that my art has a certain flavour; sketchy, with a soft palette and somewhat simplistic art style, but still packed with details. In my work, I enjoy adding smaller intricate designs and easter eggs, one could think of it like an onion (admittedly, I stole this phrase from a friend of mine in our Visual Communication department who follows roughly the same work ethic as me. Sorry, Dulana). Furthermore, I am also fond of the process that goes into making art, so I've included process work from concept sketches to the roughs of all my pieces.
The most glaring weakness in my portfolio however, is a severe lack of work that I can tangibly showcase. Although a lame excuse, the reason for this is my investment of time in the degree programme, however this would change with this semester, as the focus is to find a decent internship.
With that done, I now come to the question of what makes me? Why would people want to work with me? Am I a person who is part of a larger machine, or am I the pilot? Am I even related to the machine? Maybe I'm just some painter on the side of the road? I see myself as a creative force of nature, so to speak. I do not think I could merely be one part of a larger project, I'm more like a spontaneous burst of energy on a whim. I do recognize that due to my activities in the Student Chamber at AOD and my previous position as Vice President that I do have a certain skillset that pertains to leadership, communication and consistency, however I feel that in the future I want to make things that are successful because of what they say, not because I made them. In other words, I do not want to chase fame.
At the end of the day, I want to be an independent creator, which is a difficult journey for sure. In order to get there, I need to learn the skill of selling people my ideas, which is essentially (dreadfully) marketing (what a BORE). I'll need to foster an entrepreneurial and narrative mindset for this. At the end of the day, it's simply a means to an end. I also asked the question of where I would proliferate myself, and to that I do not have a solid answer as of yet. Off the top of my head, the first and easiest thing that comes to mind is social media like YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, Instagram, anywhere people interact. Furthermore, I would love to proliferate in real life as well, through some form of design campaign (AR perhaps?). These are merely initial speculations, so I will have to properly think about this and the feasibility of it as time passes.
Finally, I asked myself what my story was. What got me where I am now? Right now, nothing of note comes to mind. I studied English Literature at school, and on a whim, decided to drop out during my Advanced Level examinations and change gears to the arts. I had realised that the education system in schools are extremely flawed, and wanted a new, non conformational change of scene. I'd always been an artists (in a sense, I wrote novels and drew anime characters from time to time, and my mother and I have a string background in music) and I felt joining the Motion Graphics and Animation programme on campus would help me become a better storyteller. Somewhere along the line, I fell in love with the visual arts again and as of now, I'm on a trajectory to combine my love for literature and art going forward by creating books, graphic novels, short films, table top games (maybe?) and essentially creating my very own universe with all these interconnected characters and stories.
This made me realise that maybe to get where I need to go, an unconventional internship may benefit me here. As a creative, broadening my scope could possibly help me get where I need to be in the future. For example, an internship in finance could help me learn how to actually price my work, lots of creators ask the question "how do I price myself?" Art is hard to quantify as it is, but we need to do it in order to make money (I'm not saying I want to intern in finance, God no, but it illustrates what I'm trying to say about a different sort of internship). In my case, maybe I could look at places with strong connections to art and culture, or hone in on my strengths of music to learn how to create a multisensory experience through my work? I believe now, it's time for a bit of self reflection.

For 3 months I welcomed Stonehouse and Kerry James Marshall into my house. I checked out The Mountain Poems of Stonehouse (Copper Canyon Press, 2014) and Kerry James Marshall: Mastry (Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 2016) from the library. Both are books that you can flip through and read in short installments. In November I renewed Mastry. Finally the due date for both books approached and I gave them back a week ago.
I am not usually so sentimental about returning books to the library. But these two I had gotten used to. Before returning them I scanned a few pages from each, a digital memento for the box of memories and muses under my bed.
Part 1: Turning point and arrival
In 1980 Kerry James Marshall painted Portrait of the Artist as a Shadow of his Former Self. He was inspired by the 1952 novel Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. He was 25 years old, and the painting is tiny, only 8 x 6.5 inches. This self portrait marks a turning point and an arrival for Marshall. Previously, he made mainly mixed-media and collage. From this point onward, Marshall has almost exclusively painted Black figures in everyday life, painting them with black skin, with black paint. I've heard artists say this before, that there is one piece that they make that shows them who they are, something that speaks back to the artist and illuminates a clear way forward.
A year later Marshall painted Portrait of the Artist & A Vacuum, which I am obsessed with and very much want to imitate.

Part 2: "Right now I'm writing a right-now line"
Here are some of my favorite lines from Stonehouse:
Tumblr media
very practical… sometimes feelings linger.. i would love to take my basket across the ridge and gather vine flowers…
Tumblr media
In the accompanying commentary, the translator Red Pine explains that in different times in Chinese history monks were given land to live off of. Stonehouse lived during the Yuan Dynasty and was temporarily head of the Monk affairs office in 1331. I don't want to glamorize this system, which Stonehouse clearly has a critique of, but throughout the whole book of poems you get a picture of a very different society from ours, one where being a monk is an established vocation with some supporting infrastructure in place. It is cool and thought provoking as we are currently pressed with the urgent work of crafting a new world.
Tumblr media
"i've never been cheated by a hoe," good for you stonehouse… also very relatable, feeling lonely because your friends are out in the world striving for success.
Tumblr media
this verse stuck with me and I copied it into my journal. sometimes i feel a bit desperate in terms of not wanting to make the same mistakes again and again, wanting to break habits, especially those that harm my relationships with others. I really like how Stonehouse says "when life becomes simple old habits end." it strikes me as both optimistic and pragmatic.
Tumblr media
hold the PHONE "right now I'm writing a right-now line" is an unreal line, tattoo-worthy, sky-writing plane worthy, very good, very excellent poetry. Stonehouse gets an EGOT.
In Conclusion:
Those were 2 very good books. Furthermore, returning books means I check more out. Currently I am reading:
Cassell's Encyclopedia of Queer Myth, Symbol, and Spirit by Randy P. Connor, Mariya Sparks, David Hatfield Sparks
Dyke Strippers: Lesbian Cartoonists A to Z Edited by Roz Warren
Act of State: The Execution of Martin Luther King by William F. Pepper
Rock Steady: Brilliant Advice from My Bipolar Life by Ellen Forney
I am finding momentum in reading poetry, comics, and nonfiction, especially any text that is illustrated and/or that you can read non-linearly. On that tip, Act of State is the outlier, but it is so eye opening and righteous that I am locked in. I'll report back later~

My art piece was "Post No Bill, Jute Sacks" created by Ibrahim Mahama back in 2015 located at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University:
This presentation was Mahama's first major work in a US museum!
Mahama made his piece of art out of reclaimed jute sacks and fabric offcuts from his home country's, Ghana, from different trading markets.
Mahama often works with "found objects" and transform them into art which gives them new meaning.
Mahama as a student of Kari Kacha seid' ou, who created a larger sense of art history and theory internationally, which lyes within Mahama and motivates him to move further into the symbolic aspects of art.
Mahama founded and runs a non-profit cultural organization called Savannah Center for Contemporary Art in Tamale
When I first looked at the image I was confused because at first all I saw was a wall of woven sacks. After some research, I found that the artist, Mohama, used the jute sacks to give them more meaning and symbolism. In other words, my point of view changed as I learned more about the artwork and its purpose. Learning more about the piece of art allowed me to understand  that its more than sacks on a wall, its how Mohama wanted people to look at wach and every hole, scratch, and stain and understand that there is a story and meaning behind each sack than what people, including myself, initially thought.

2. This piece of art was bought from a street vendor in down town New Orleans, Louisiana back in 2021. The media used to create this image is black charcoal copied and printed with ink. I serves the purpose of reminding me about all the fun I had in New Orleans and shows the heart of the town, which is the historic buildings, railing, and plants which is seen all over the town making it unique. I definently think that this art piece is beautiful because its a great depiction of what you see in New Orleans, which is history, culture, and uniqueness. (Sorry that this art piece isn't on a wall we have no art on our walls currently since we are in a rental).
3. When I look at art the "baggage" that I bring along is what this image reminds me of in relation to my life. I can understand and feel emotion towards a piece of art if I can relate to it. Hi, I'm Ellie and I am 17 years old. The gender that I primarily align with is female. I am from Bradenton, Florida. My ethnicity is white. For fun I like to do crafts like paint pouring, furniture building, or even just a simple coloring book, along with playing flag football, hanging out with friends, and traveling to places like New Orleans and New York. I am a member of my high school and club flag football team, and I am vice president of the club Skills USA. For work I am a babysitter, a student, and I am a cook at a local food trailer, Gulley's. The thing that makes me uniquely me is my caring and kind personality, and my determination to work hard.

4. My self portrait is in black and white to represent these images as my personality and memories, the border is red to show that all of these pictures and memories live inside my heart!

!! PLEASE READ !!
" Hello and Hi !
My name is Zephyr! But you may call me Ze! I go by any pronouns and welcome to my blog! Here are a few things you might need to read before venturing down into my account <33 As of the moment, please enjoy your stay here lovely reader! "
First off, What is the purpose of this account?
This account aims to be a sort of writing dump for me. Meaning all my writing related and story-telling related blog posts will be put here. Mainly, there will be one-shots, prompts, drabbles, full on fics, book reviews (once I start reading again) and many more!
If that's not what you're looking for, then I have my general dump account: @gettingsuckedintoablackhole where you'll find random shit like reblogs, and random things I think of. Some of them may be related to here, some of them don't. It sorta just depends. I'm also currently in the process of creating an art dump account so will definitely be linking it once I'm done with it!
But that aside, this account is for my writing/fanfiction/story-telling related works only and that's pretty much it.
What will I be writing about?
It can be my current brainrots or just random ideas that come to me.
Fair spoiler warning however. This account will always reflect my current brainrots. For example, if my brainrot is TSOA, then this account will probably have a theme that reflects that. Transition phases, however, are likely to happen from time to time and you might get radio silence from me then but that's to be expected.
If my brainrots transition or return to other brainrots then I will most definitely be updating about it. You are free to unfollow though if the transition is too jarring for you!
Most of my works can be read as standalone without needing to know the piece of work it's based on, but I will always put a spoiler warning for pieces of works that explicitly showcase a spoiler for a piece of work.
What sort of contents will I be writing about?
Thing ranging from fluff, angst, hurt/comfort and AU ideas are very common. I do specialize in AU writing so you will see that from me. Smut content is very rare, and is always non-graphic. I do not feel comfortable writing graphic smut, so sorry if you're into those things.
Even more so, I will provide trigger warnings for themes depicted in my works that may be heavy for some people. There will also be general heads-up for what kind of content can be found in my work.
Will I be taking requests?
Likelihood is no. I'm too busy for requests at the moment and that I write for my own satisfaction. Though, I am open to receiving ideas from all of you and discussing said ideas in my DMs! I might write about them as well if I feel like it and I will most definitely give credit to you if I do happen to take inspiration from your idea.
But generally, no. I am not taking requests at the moment.
Where else can you find me?

4Kids Korner - Season 2 - Episode 3
I'm a bit late this week because I got caught up with work and school-related dread, but now I'm back to bring you more 4Kids products! This week we have an epic trifepic: Winx Club Magazine Issue one - the castle, Kirby Right Back at Ya - Ice Kirby (DVDouble-Shot) and Kirby Right Back at Ya - Kirby Comes to Cappy Town!
Let's start by getting the smallest one out of the way. Here's Kirby Right Back at Ya - Ice Kirby (2005)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's something I oddly like about DVDouble-Shot. Starting In 2005, the DVDouble-Shot line was introduced featuring two-Episode DVDs of 4Kids most profitable shows as a way of promoting 4Kids TV. As for the consumer, the main selling point is that you could buy them for a low price, collect and possibly trade them with your friends, kind of like Pokémon cards. I like the idea of one kid saying to the other on the playground, "hey, wanna trade your Ninja Turtles for my YuGiOh?" How successful they were, I have no idea, but they're fun and easy to review on this show. Given their small portion size, practically every DVDouble-Shot is the same. This one had the episodes "The Chill Factor" and "DeDeDe's Snow Job," in accordance with the ice theme of the disc. It also features assorted promos for then-current and upcoming 4Kids shows identical to those seen in the 4Kids TV September demo disc (which I will hopefully review some time in the future.) Before we move on, though there's one little thing I want to point out about the box art. You can't see it in the photos I've provided, but the ice monster on the cover is far more pixelated than Kirby, if you look closely at it, so it appears to me that they lifted it right out of the episode and placed it on the cover. I guess that's just what happens when no official art of a character exists for your graphic designers to use...
Now that we have that one out of the way, let's talk about the stars of today's episode, which actually turned out to have much more historical value than most of the other stuff in my collection. So say hello to the Winx Club Magazine Premiere Issue, The Castle (2005)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a very special addition to my collection not only because it's part of what I consider to be 4Kids' absolute peak year, but since the book was presumably printed in January of 2005, it means this was one of the first pieces of of merchandise to feature the now-famous 4Kids TV logo. Heck it might have even been printed before then. As for the book itself, it's quite cute as it features everything an 8-11 year old girl wanting to be a hip and trendy 2000s teenager could want, and contains surprisingly few ads for Winx Club merch. And even more adorable, is the publisher's attempts to fit that description using words like "slammin'" in sentences. I call it a magazine, but it's really more dedicated to the comic included, "The Castle," which I would have read, but I needed to get some sleep the day I read it, so I skimmed the book's numerous activities, instead. But for those still interested, the comic is a retelling of Bloom's enrollment in Alfea, with original art that's pretty accurate to the actual show. But the book's real allure is the activities. Like the free trading card you'll see in the photo above. It even comes with a full-page description of what a trading card game is, making reference to YuGiOh in the process, which I thought was funny since 4Kids owned that, and also because it heavily implies that only boys play YuGiOh when the show itself has many female duelists. After that, you have a faux interview with Bloom taken from the perspective of a fellow Alfea Student. What I remember most clearly about that, is that Bloom says she listens to top 40's, which made me think "man, she's got some trash music taste," even though I, myself have said on multiple occasions off of tumblr that I listen to basically everything. Also included on the magazine are a paper fortune-telling toy, a best friend diary which includes a "secret crush" slot to fill in, a page for writing down predictions about the reader's future, and even a personality test which assigns your traits to a type of flower, as suggested by Flora on the page. The funny thing about this is that one question asks for the reader's favorite kind of movie, and one of the options is "anime everything," which I thought was funny since anime was just starting to get big at that time in America, and the online anime community was just starting to grow. Finally, on the last page, probably the most creative of all, is a step-by-step slumber party plan by Musa, which details inviting everyone over, having them show up dressed as their favorite popstar (like Brittany Spears, for example) and bring their favorite CD from said popstar, then taking turns playing them and talking about them. It sounds quite fun, and it made me smile imagining all the little kids who tried this. That's exactly what I think is awesome about children's entertainment: it makes them happy and builds their imagination. So that's the Winx Club Magazine, a really good buy, but I must admit they used the same art of the girls more than once on a few occasions, and also wrote in a plot hole in the interview with Bloom, where she says she discovered her powers as a child, but in the show she unlocks them at her current age when saving Stella from the first monsters of the series. So it may have a couple flukes, but still quite enjoyable.
And last, but never least, it's time for Kirby Right Back at Ya: Kirby Comes to Dream Land (2002)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one is also historically significant for two reasons. One is that it was the very first release of one of the more famous non-Pokémon/YuGiOh shows 4Kids had to offer, but it also played a part in promoting the very launch of the Fox Box, as you'll see on the box art. This disc may only have the first three episodes of the show, but it super makes up for it with a plethora of special features, more than any of the DVDs I currently own, and that they strangely enough don't tell you about on the box. And speaking of the box, though you might not see it, the episode descriptions on the back are written entirely in comic sans. Yeah, it's clear to see 4Kids wasn't quite as sharp as they would be in the next few years... and the DVD menus are also written entirely in this font. But that doesn't take away from the outstanding value. much like the Fright to the Finish DVD, this one's special features are split between two menus. For this one, there's "More Kirby" and "Added Attractions," which is the far superior one, but more on that in a minute. The More Kirby menu features a character gallary telling you about the main cast, set to music from the show. Then there's "Kirbyoke," which is there to teach the kids the words to the theme song. And finally, we have a preview for the next DVD in the series, which at that point hadn't a proper name, so Mike Pollock's voice just refers to it as "Kirby Right Back at Ya Volume 2." Then, in the "Added Attractions" menu, we have a promo for Cubix - Robots for Everyone's first DVD release, a short promo for the newly-launched FoxBox.TV website, and the star of this review by far, "What's Inside The Fox Box?!" This incredible 14 minute long promo (which you can find on Youtube, by the way,) previews every single show in the Fox Box's initial lineup as a way of hyping up the network for it's September 2002 launch. Well, kind of... You see, 4Kids made multi-minute promos for their own productions, complete with plot synopses by Mike Pollock and others and theme songs for the shows. Meanwhile, Stargate Infinity, a third-party show, only got a promo featuring still images of the main cast, a paper-thin explanation of the plot and no opening, all clocking in at under a minute. So, yeah, pretty lame move on 4Kids part, but at least we get to see HD footage of 4Kids lost Ultraman Tiga dub. Ultimately, it's a really fun promo from 4Kids' very beginnings as a dedicated children's entertainment company, even though it uses some uncut clips of guns in Fighting Foodons since the dub wasn't finished at that point. One last thing to point out: the promo for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which hadn't even started production at the time,) features an unused theme song demo for the series which also made it's way onto the illusive Fox Box CD. So there you have it, one of the DVDs that started it all. Thanks for reading about it, as well as my other items this week. I will be back with more next week, so hang in there, and I'll see you all next time. Take care!

Hi! First of all, I really like your work, it's satisface me the fact that you write so well and have develop an instricate story. I want to ask facts about you guys, like 10 facts about each one of you (something like where are you from, your names and ages, etc.). My name is Carolina, I'm 31 and I'm from Chile 🌻.
Thank you so much. We honestly love writing this universe and try to do it as often as we can while also trying to juggle being adults, haha!
Both admins have some facts in common. We are both 27 (admin M's birthday is actually today! June 1st!) while admin N's birthday is 20th January (both born in 1993). We also both live in the same town in the UK. We met around 10 years ago while at college where we were in the same tutor group. While we have some differences in taste, we are both obsessed with River Phoenix films such as 'Dogfight' and 'My Own Private Idaho' which we often watch together. We both got into BTS at LITERALLY THE EXACT SAME TIME as we explored them together. We have been to see them 3 times live so far together, including last year at Wembley on Admin M's birthday.
10 facts about admin M:
- My bias is Yoongi, and while my bias wrecker changes, it is usually Jungkook!
- I have been writing fanfiction since I was 12 or 13 years old.
- I have a Master's degree in History of Art
- Other than BTS, my music taste is actually quite similar to Jeong-sun's. I love The Cure, New Order, David Bowie and other 80s groups.
 - My favourite song from BTS is probably 'Tear' but changes depending on mood, while my favourite song from the members solo is Suga and Suran's 'So Far Away'
- I have a huge interest in perfume which also translates into our works, as we often include what the members and their girlfriends smell like/what perfume they are wearing
- I am a big whisky drinker, so can relate a lot to Yoongi
- I love old movies such as 'Casablanca' and Ingmar Bergman films. We see V and Cassandra as also loving old films, so I often incorporate my knowledge into their fics.
 - I have a big interest in pop culture and quite a sporadic knowledge which I try to incorporate into my fics.
- If I had to compare myself to a member, I am probably most like V in that I can be quite hot-headed, sulky, passionate but also love art, old films and music that is not always popular with my peers.
 10 facts about Admin N:
- I studied Fine Art Practice at university and have a Post graduate degree in education
- I currently work as a restaurant manager
- I’m an Aquarius and share the same birth flower as Hoseok, my bias!
- I own a Bearded Collie called Boo, but I live with 5 other dogs which all exhibit at Crufts dog show.
- My favourite BTS album is Tear, the first one I purchased.
 - I have a total of 25 BTS albums in my collection!
- My favourite non-BTS piece of merch is my White Night fidget spinner (released by Taeyang of BigBang, dope spinner congrats)
- I can speak basic European Portuguese and am currently trying to learn Korean.
- My guilty pleasure recently is the series 90 Day Fiancé.
- My favourite book is ‘Finn the Wolfhound’ by Alec John Dawson, a must read for animal lovers.
 Thanks for asking :)
