Pet Names That Valeria, Farah and Laswell Use

Valeria: I don’t think she’d use too many pet names as she does believe they’re somewhat embarrassing. Will absolutely not use any in public, but might use some when she’s drunk and alone at home with you. When she’s drunk she usually speaks some Spanglish, so chances are, unless you know both languages, you won’t fully understand her. And even then, her pet names are very few and far in between. They’re also nothing too special. Something along the lines of cariño/a or querido/a. Really, it’s nothing too fancy as Valeria isn’t usually one to show her affections through words. However, you can call her jefa and she’ll go wild internally. Naturally, she’s the boss among the two of you, but it’s nice to hear that anyway. Also the implication of you being family is nice.

Farah: Unlike Valeria, Farah is all for sweet pet names. Loves calling your romantic things that show you just how much she cares about you. She can go either way as well, either calling you something adorable in Arabic or English, she’s fluent in both languages after all. Calls you “my love”, “my moon” or “my heart”. It’s important to note that she usually puts “my” in front of your pet names since it’s important to her that you are hers. However, in Arabic she’ll call you something along the lines of habibi/habibti, rohi or ya amar. Maybe I should mention that she’d also love nothing more than to be sweet with you in Arabic, so her saying things to you in that language aren’t restricted to just pet names. She’ll compare you to the most beautiful things in existence. Farah can be quite eloquent in Arabic, actually, so it’ll always be sweet.

Laswell: Oh, she can probably go any way. Laswell knows so many languages, there’s a good chance she knows yours as well. So she likely wouldn’t be above calling you a pet name in your own language. Besides, if she doesn’t know your language then she’ll simply learn it, she really wants to indulge in the joy of speaking your native tongue with you. So she’ll definitely learn some sweet things she can call you in your language. However, if we go by English alone, then she won’t be too fancy on that one. She could be, don’t get me wrong, but she usually chooses to stick with something that will convey that she loves you, but won’t go overboard. You can expect something along the lines of “my love”, “sweetheart”, “sweetie” and, if she’s feeling especially daring that day, “cutie” from her.

OKAY HI I'VE BEEN SHAMELESSLY SEARCHING THROUGH YOUR ACCOUNT DIGGING FOR ANSWERS I COULDNT FIND ANYWHERE ELSE (Ik I'm late asf but I hope you still answer questions related to wmmap seriously I'm desperate lmao) So I've read the entire novel and there wasn't any mention of their marriage (Lucas and Athy) 😭 IK THERE IS A BRIEF MENTION ABOUT "SOME" MARRIAGE In BOTB but all the translations I've read haven't specified who she decided marry at the end when she turned 26 💀 how is everyone so sure it was Lucas and did they decide whose gonna rule the empire in the end? I think from Hari's pov, it was yet to get decided later on, and a prince consort was chosen again, I wanted to clarify if it was really Lucas and I don't think there was any mention of her having kids except for in that one parallel dimension.

I mean, WMMAP and BOTB explicitly take place in the same world (they aren't parallel universes, there are no "what-ifs" or anything similar), Athy even meets Cabel and Hari (indirectly). Indeed, the marriage mention is in BOTB, not WMMAP, but it's pretty obvious the groom is Lucas, even if he isn't mentioned by name. Athy also isn't mentioned by name, Hari just says it's the wedding of "Obelia's princess". Considering the novel ends with Athy kissing Lucas, and that they keep dating during the side-stories, it would be very strange that she didn't marry him. As you say, LP! Lucas even sees their future daughter (granted, that could be a different world, but even so, he says that Athy is always with Lucas in all the worlds he visited except one).

I guess it's technically possible that the groom isn't Lucas, but considering that Athy was dating him and that she explicitly rejected Ijekiel, it's incredibly unlikely. What would be the other alternative, Athy marrying a random guy?

Regarding how they decided to rule the empire, there's no direct answer to that question, but Claude said that Athy would be the next empress and she knew that the day would come when she had to rule Obelia. BOTB's novel says that the prince consort (actually, there's no mention of the term "prince consort" as far as I remember, but I'll use it since that would be the title used for Athy's husband/husband-to-be) married into the royal family, not the other way around (naturally, since Athy is the powerful one of the two from a political standpoint), and that's about it. It isn't that the prince consort was going to be decided "later on" after the wedding, that's not how it works, Lucas (or whoever the mysterious guy is, but he is totally Lucas) most likely got that title after the wedding. I think it's safe to assume they rule together but Athy is the one with the most power and doing the most work (I can't see Lucas being very interested in ruling lol). This is the most logical explanation of post-canon's events, but the reference to Athy's wedding/future is pretty brief. Take a look at @lithi's translation.

So is nobody going to talk about how lesbian coded Rukia is?

Everytime she interacts with Kaien's wife during the flashback she's always either nervously stuttering(which is pretty uncommon for Rukia) or swooning over her, almost like Miyako was an awakening for her.

The way she looks at Miyako is also pretty different from the way she looked at other people, even during the flashback before the tragedy occured.

Then there's this monologue where she lovingly talks about how Miyako's her idol and how beautiful she is, only being able to gaze in the distance knowing that she's married.

Look how worried and forlorn she is when Miyako gets sent on the Hollow mission, maybe knowing this is the last time she'll ever see her alive.

The way Rukia looks at her in the episode is also the same way she looks at Orihime.

There are a lot of Very Gay™ moments between her and Orihime but it's especially apparent in the novels. The only reason she ever gave Ichigo his powers back is because seeing him depressed made Orihime sad and cry and even at her own wedding preparations she thinks more about Orihime than she does her future beard husband.

Despite proposing to him, she doesn't show much attraction to Renji in the novel or men at all in the anime/manga(she also acts in a more confrontational or dismissive way towards men than she does with women which is a queer coding trope) and even names her own child after Orihime herself.

It didn't go very well; Elias acted on impulse and quite literally hit O'Neil over and over on the head with a keyboard until it broke, and then started strangling him. O'Neil, needing to defend himself, grabbed the nearest item - which was a pen - and stabbed Elias in the eye with it. Then, cue comic!

While we absolutely should make telling your friends that you love them a more socially acceptable thing I think we should show just as much energy in normalizing not saying those words back because many of us do not feel the emotions attached or simply don't like saying it from personal discomfort or other completely valid reasons!! Honestly y'all I can't imagine Aloy dating/liking anyone other than a girl, like, her interactions are on average way richer and way more engaged with lady NPCs (not to say that there aren't rich and engaging interactions with guy characters, there are, but Aloy herself seems way less interested/invested in those than the ones she has with girls)

#benjamin sisko #ds9 #st: ds9 #star trek #this is very rough but there's jsut something ive been feeling a lot with certain characters #when they become Very Mythological it's like they loop around and I relate to them from a certain experience #and ds9 does support this read of him as highly obsessive in ways that sometimes harm him #and someone who feels emotions in very powerful ways #and of course someone who's going through grief and ptsd #the prophets as religion and as science affecting his mind and his body #and all along he's really *just* (affectionately) a guy who's trying to get his people through something #and wants to make his dad proud and be there for his son #and whose mindbody betray him #there's also this thing (the episode where he gets stuck out of time and only sees jake a few times before he dies #but then it does get reversed)#where there is such a palpable sense of fighting the inevitable #and that feels relatable in terms of struggling with mental health issues or degenerative illnesses/having family members who #struggle with these things -- jake maybe having to prepare to say some kind of goodbye #i say all of this delicately because i firmly am in the camp that avery brooks is that sisko would never just *leave* those he loves #and I want him to return I imagine that he does (although idk when exactly in my head)#but the pain of that leaving is still real -- and I don't think it works as an absent father metaphor #for it being a cheap stereotype and because sisko simply isn't like that and because there are all these signs #like having a parent whose mindbody you see deteriorating for some reason and trying to continue for as long as you can #it's very vague right now but it is there in my head
