Historical legends: King Tutankhamen
The Boy King Tutankhamen was born around 1343 B.C, his father was the pharaoh Amenhotep. Out of all of the pharaohs of Egypt Tut's father was amongst the strangest. As you guys know, Egyptians believe in a poly-theistic religion which means that they believe in many different beings, the Zeus of Egyptian gods was Amen-Ra. Instead, Amenhotep changed the religion to mono-theistic which means that they will believe in one supreme being, called Aten-Ra. His appearance also seemed strange, Amenhotep's head was oddly shaped, it was very long and narrow. His hips were also very large for a man, what rare disease caused this? Spite of his looks Amenhotep married a very beautiful queen, her name was Nefertiti. Although not of royal birth, Nefertiti looked every inch of a queen. Amenhotep had many wives, Tut's mother was one of the less important ones. Amenhotep established a new capital at Amarna, that is where Tut spent most of his childhood. These changes however did not last after Amenhotep's death, Amarna was soon deserted. It was a confusing time for the kingdom of Egyot because when people are getting used to all these changes it will take an iron will to alter it back. King Tut is now king, a boy King and growing up in ancient Egypt is full of surprises especially if you are living in a palace. Palace buildings were made of brick walls and were covered in white plaster. There were separate buildings for the pharaoh's wives. When Tut got older, he would go on a vacation down the Nile or go hunting with his bow and arrow. His chariot had two fine horses with plumed headdresses. Evidently Tut liked playing and Egyptian board game called Senet(he made sure that two sets were buried with him). Tut loved music, musicians would play the harp for him whenever he felt like it. Because of the heat princes and princesses wore light, simple, and reflective clothing. Tut also knew how to write, Ancient Egypt was one of the first countries to have a written language. Whenever Tut did not want to write, a scribe would do it for him. A scribes job is the write down what the pharaoh says. The Egyptians did not have any pens or pencils they just had a feed with a chewed end on it. A student had to dip that in ink and then rub it on papyrus. The ancient Egyptian writing was called hieroglyphs, ever since the empire fell, hieroglyphs were a mystery for centuries before the Rosetta Stone was found. The empire did not run smoothly, the lands under Egypt's control had to pay tribute. For instance, Nubia:gold, Lebanon: rare cedar wood. But the Egyptian army had gotten weaker, goods stopped coming in. Tut was just a boy, how could he have brought the kingdom up again. The cause of Tut's death was unknown but scientists found evidence of a broken leg, probably and infection caused his death. Tutankhamen was mummified for the afterlife and gold and goods were buried with him so that he can have those stuff in the afterlife. He was sent to the great pyramids of Giza and there he will lay rest away from bandits and robbers. His advisors thought he would remain safe for the rest of his life, they were wrong. Alexander the Great took Egypt and did not find tut's tomb, Julius Caesar took Egypt and still did not find it, so who found it. Howard carter and lord carnavon found it in 1922 and it played a Great Part in archeology. The death of King tut is a mystery and scientists are still trying their best to uncover the secrets of the ancient empire
