Nerd-to-nerd communication

Something super pointless and self-indulgent I've had on the backburner for a while. I love trying to make the pieces they gave us fit together!

Al-AN and Robin would absolutely bond over learning about each other's biology. I could talk about this forever but I'll get into all of the headcanons I have for these two in another post eventually

Below the cut is another version with some extra bits and pieces and the transcription

Transcript :

Architect Anatomy A. Architect "Brain" - Doesn't "store" information so much as allow for easy communication with the network B. Brainstem - connects the information received to the central nervous/circulatory system C. "Heart" - Circulatory system pumps the bioluminescent fluid to other organ systems and surface veins. Each node connects to a vast vasculature network D. "Kidneys" - Organs that filter the bioluminescent "blood" and other bodily fluids, absorbing and distributing collected material E. Nerve Center - Receives raw sensory data and filters it. Filtering can be unconscious or intentional

F. "Respiratory" Tract - Intakes gases or liquids and filters out material for use. Disposes of waste on exhale. Provides cooling to internal systems

The respiratory tract functions less like a set of lungs and more akin to a computer's cooling system, with the ability to absorb material from the environment to use in other parts of the body. It also would likely help the architect's body analyze the environment it is currently exposed to on a molecular level. It is also truly unidirectional, with the intake vents near the "collarbone" and the exhaust vents on both sides of the abdomen

The architect organ cache in-game felt like it was definitely not a complete model of the internal organs, so I wanted to come up with something to fill some more space. I also just really liked the idea of Al-An being capable of something similar to breathing, without having a respiratory system in the traditional sense. Feel free to use any of this in your own headcanons if you would like :)

you know what here’s my art hot take: if you are a YOUNG BEGINNER ARTIST, do NOT begin with the fundamentals. in my experience that will make art seem like a chore. you’ll get MORE frustrated then before because you are starting with something crazy complicated!! just start drawing! draw stuff you want to draw! then your art will develop from there.

because if you start with the fundamentals of human anatomy, but like drawing dogs, you’ll frustrate yourself because you don’t like drawing humans. you shouldn’t be worrying about being “good” at art if you literally just started. the fun thing about art is that it has no rules! you don’t NEED tutorials or anything!!! you can just go!!!!!

The Heart

As I wanted to do more analyzation on the heart I went out to the butchers to get a lambs heart. It was interesting capturing photos of it as it gave me insight into the shape and I could see more in depth of where the veins were. I was fascinated by the anatomy of it, especially seeing the blood vessels and the valves.

Okay the eye vein color thing was a short moment of dumbassery that took like 5 minutes of thinking to figure out. I've revised my headcanons to suit it but now I'm grinding my teeth trying to figure out how open vs closed circulatory systems work precisely and if open ones are A. Even possible for a species as big as trolls and B. Able to exist alongside the "veins" in their eyes if I stretch and say that they carry pigment instead of blood.

I'm probably just gonna have to suck it up and say they're closed, which sucks for no reason other than that I really liked the idea of open ones. I guess it'd probably make more sense for sea dwellers anyway.

I will say, the funny thing about people arguing that there is a fundamental difference between "skilled" and "unskilled" art is that there are so many professional artists who are massively talented that choose to make "unskilled" art even though they very much have the ability to make "skilled" art. it's almost like there's merit and worth in it, ain't it?

#very funny moment i had was when i was complaining about how i heard some people making fun of a very potent political piece in my college'#s #art wing for being 'just spray paint on wood'#and i was saying i think saying shit like that is stupid and someone was all like 'yes but..... some art is just better than other art :)'#and then later that day in my art class we were analyzing how artists depict mood in their pieces and there was a lot of art people like #that person would consider objectively 'bad'#by very talented and prolific artists! because that style and way of portraying things can be incredibly effective!#apologies for the overuse of quotation marks i just want to make it abundantly clear i dont believe in “good” and “bad” art lol #i think if you can only view art as either good or bad youre entirely missing the point and missing out on so many ways to view and #experience and appreciate art #so yeah actually even though you said it like it was obvious and no one would disagree. i do think there is very little difference between #a child's deviantart oc or scribble of their family and art made by professional artists #i love you tadpole people i love you sparkledogs i love you mary sues i love you chicken scratch i love you scribbles i love you bad anatomy

Pretending i know anatomy meanwhile I absolutely do not and am just bullshitting it.

#eh proportional anatomy is just a suggested concept anyway #as long as it’s not completely unrealistic there’s probably someone with proportions like that somewhere!#but honestly I did improve my anatomy a lot within the past ~3 years so!#most of it was just over analyzing other people’s art. tracing practice can help too but I prefer referencing :]#though I also tend to improve after not drawing for months on end just from over analyzing so. maybe a little magic too.
