“I—“ Janus can’t help but laugh. This is ridiculous. “Yeah, fuck it. Do your worst. I’ll be expecting it next time.”
Patton nods, enthusiastic. Janus gives him a quick nod back, before going to take a seat.
The next time he comes in during Patton’s shift, he gets a haphazard flower drawn on his latte. The next time, it’s a cat. Sometimes, it’s generic latte art. Sometimes (read: often), it is unintelligible. Once, he overhears Roman ask for a portrait and wishes he could have seen how the fuck that turned out. It does make his day a little better, having the little latte arts. It’s also weirdly validating to know that Patton looks at him too, sometimes. They smile at each other now whenever they go to look at the same time.
Janus no longer feels like he’s been caught doing something bad when Patton’s eyes meet his.

college AU relationship chart..... the girls are fighting </3
edit: forgot to indicate the relationship between roman and patton, also would fall under the buddies category (will elaborate in later posts on the specific dynamics between the sides, they are all very close and have deep + significant friendships with each other <3)
edit 2: this is an AU that i created but have had the privilege to really develop and expand upon with @djbead123 and a lot of the characterizations + plot points come directly out of convos with them so definitely wanna credit them in blorbo-posting hehe
gonna start posting more actively about this AU so wanted to sketch something out !! the basic premise of this AU is:
everyone is in undergrad. remus and roman used to have a very tense and negative relationship with each other but have recently been working on actually building a friendship, forcing their separate friend groups to interact more. virgil used to be friends with both janus and remus (janus since they were children, remus only in their first year of college) but had a falling out with both in his second year-- at which point he became close to roman, logan, and patton.
relationships are developing and changing with the (re)introduction of janus and remus to the social circle. janus and patton specifically develop a very quick and intense platonic + sexual connection based on mutual curiosity. this puts a rift in virgil and patton’s friendship because janus has historically been Not Great to virgil. i have written two fanfics about this specific part of the “story” that can be accessed here (cw: NSFW)
this AU is where most of my anamoceit content (atm this whole au will be tagged #anamoceit uni) will get dumped into. i do have previous posts that are part of this AU!

pre-canon anxceit from the anamoceit college au >:3 they are such dramatic and silly lil dorks !!! <3 also with the lore drop of "virgil used to have a crush on janus" i figured i could speak more to that, since the current canon of the au is much more moxiety/moceit-centric but it's anamoceit for a reason babey >:33333
(my most recent fic in the series takes place during this point in the timeline)
additional info:
janus comes out as aromantic in his second year of university, after him and virgil had already had their falling out. later IDs as aroflux.
virgil comes out as genderfluid around the same time and uses all pronouns. at this point in the AU (first year) virgil would just be using he/him pronouns and has a gender identity of "shrug emoji"
the significance of them not coming out until after they stop being friends isn't because they couldn't have come out to each other, but is instead meant to indicate that they are both more introspective and self-confident after their falling out + as they are just, like, getting older and living life.
