In the small town of Dell, Arkansas, Amanda Tusing, a 20-year-old young woman, resided with her parents. She was a petite, spunky brunette affectionately called "Mandy" by those close to her, and had a promising future ahead. Amanda was engaged to her high school sweetheart, Matthew Ervin, and they were planning their wedding for the following year in June. While Matthew sold insurance after graduating from Arkansas State University, Amanda had aspirations of becoming a veterinarian.
On the night of June 14th, 2000, Amanda departed from Matthew's home in Jonesboro, Arkansas, around 11:30PM. It was a rainy night, and she promised to call him once she arrived home safely. However, when Matthew hadn't heard from her by 1:30AM, he called her parents, Ed and Susan Tusing, only to discover that she never made it back home.
Filled with fear, Matthew and Ed immediately began searching for Amanda along the route she would have taken to reach her parents' home. As they drove along Ark 18, about one mile west of Monette, Matthew's headlights shone on Amanda's black 1991 Grand Am, pulled over to the side of the road. At first, he assumed that she had broken down, but upon closer inspection, he realized that the car was empty, and the keys were still in the ignition.

The Mysterious Death Of Amanda Tusing
Amanda had visited her fiancé Matthew on the evening of June 14, 2000. When she left to head back to her parents' house at 11:30 p.m. and it was raining heavily. Matthew tried to persuade her not to leave, but she went against his wishes anyway because she had work the next day. Amanda told him she would be fine and that she would call him as soon as she got home.
But several hours passed and Matthew still hadn't heard from Amanda, who had a 1 a.m. curfew and should have been home. He was worried enough to call Amanda's parents. Her father Ed ask Matthew to begin driving the route she would have taken home, and he would drive from Dell to meet him halfway in hopes they would stumble upon Amanda in their travels.
It didn't take long for the two men to find Amanda's 1992 Pontiac Grand Am along the side of Arkansas Highway 18. It still had the keys still in the ignition and Amanda's wallet was open on the passenger seat. They called the police and a desperate search for the young woman quickly began.
But three days after her car was discovered, Amanda's body was found in a ditch 12 miles away from where her car was left along the highway.
An autopsy of Amanda's body showed she had water in her nostrils but not her lungs and no injuries other than a small bruise on the back of her head. Her death was officially ruled a homicide by drowning. No physical evidence was found with Amanda's body, likely due to the heavy rain during the storm, and Dell police had little to go on to track down who may have been responsible for Amanda's death.
Amanda's mother Susan told ABC News she believes her daughter was pulled over by either a real law enforcement officer or someone posing as one, and then killed by that person.
“We had always told Mandy that if she ever got stopped at night to go where there were lights, and her car was found surrounded by homes and it was underneath a streetlight,” she said to the news station.
Investigators say they still haven't given up on the case and will do whatever it takes to make sure Amanda gets the justice she deserves.

Ok lol, hi tumblr my name is Annalee and Im a true crime fanatic.
The first case I wanna send out is the case of Amanda Tusing
Amanda Tusing was 20 years old when she went missing from her fiancé’s house on June 14 2000. She left her fiancés house at around 11:30 pm in Arkansas. Amanda’s car was found a few hours after she was reported missing, abandoned along Arkansas highway 18 five miles away from the St. Francis bridge. Three days after she was reported missing, her body is found in a water filled ditch. There was no sign of any kind of assault and her water was found in her nose but not in her lungs. How was she killed? Who killed her? Was it a serial killer? Was someone posing as a police officer?

On the night of June 15th, 2000, 20-year-old Amanda Tusing left her fiance’s house in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to visit her parents in Dell, Arkansas. Alarmingly, she never made it to her destination. When her fiance got in touch with her father at approximately 1:30 AM, they both got in their cars and met each other on Arkansas Highway 18. Eventually they were able to find Amanda’s vehicle on the highway. The car was still running, the windshield wipers were paused midway across the windshield, and the radio was turned to her favourite station. However, there was no sign of Amanda in or around the car. Until three days later, when her body was found 12 miles away from her car in a rain-filled ditch. There didn’t appear to be any signs of a struggle or sexual assault, although it was determined that she was most likely killed before her body was dropped in the ditch as there was not water in her lungs. Since it had been raining heavily on the night of her disappearance, any evidence the killer might have left behind was completely washed away, essentially hampering the investigation. To this day there have been no arrests made in Amanda’s tragic death.

Unsolved: The Amanda Tusing Case.
[Lake City, Arkansas]
On June 14th, 2000, Amanda Tusing (21) was headed back to her home after spending a good portion of the night with her fiance, Matt Ervin, at his apartment in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She lived in another city called Dell, Arkansas with her parents. It was around 11:30pm when Matt told her to call him when she got home safely and she began to make the 40 mile drive back home on Highway 18. Two hours passed without Amanda calling Matt so he called her parents to ask about her. Matt and her parents realized that Amanda never made it home and was missing.
Amanda’s father, Ed, immediately jumped in his car from Dell while Matt jumped in his car from Jonesboro. Both men drove toward Highway 18, the route Amanda would have been traveling on. Amanda’s car was found halfway between Jonesboro and Dell. She had pulled off into an area around houses and under a street light. When they approached the car, the keys were still in the ignition. It appeared as if her car was turned off abruptly in the middle of her windshield wipers swiping across the windshield. Her dead cell phone was found in the passenger seat and there was a Coke can sitting in the drink holder that was still cold. Matt turned the car on to see if anything was wrong with the car where Amanda could have wandered off to find help, but everything appeared to be in perfect condition.
Police showed up and processed the vehicle for forensic analysis. Partial fingerprints and a few traces of hair were found, but they were just too inconsistent to make a positive identification.
3 days after Amanda vanished, hunters were in an area known as Big Bay Ditch, 12 miles away from where her car was found near Lake City. It had been raining heavily and the ditches in the area were flooded with water. As the hunter passed by one of the ditches, he found Amanda’s body face down in the water. Police assessed the scene and weren’t able to find any signs of trauma to her body, even scratches and bruises.
Her fiance was brought in for questioning three separate times and given a polygraph. He was the only person of interest that police had, but he passed the polygraph and maintained a solid story. The FBI joined Amanda’s case and developed a profile of the killer; around 50 years old, a white male, lived close to where the body was found, and possibly a serial killer who has done this before.
A medical examiner could not find any cause of death. They couldn’t conclude that Amanda had been suffocated, but they also couldn’t confirm that she had drowned because was absolutely no water in her lungs. The only water that was found was in her nasal passage which made police believe she was tossed into the water after death. The medical examination also determined that there was no sign of a sexual assault.
A very popular theory connected to Amanda’s case came from Amanda’s parents. Growing up, they always taught her to pull over into a well populated, lit area if she was being pulled over by a police officer. Everything within her car was untouched and it seemed as if she willingly got out of her car quickly. Therefore, her parents believe that Amanda may have fallen victim to a police officer or someone impersonating one. Other people believe that Amanda could have given her trust to someone else who is deemed easily trustworthy such as, the elderly, a child, a military member, or people who appear wounded. Everyone who lived in the area where Amanda’s body was found willingly took polygraph tests and passed.

In 2001, Unsolved Mysteries attempted to cover Amanda’s case. They reached out to Matt Ervin to participate in the segment, but Matt denied their request for an in person interview. Due to Matt refusing to talk, her case was never aired.

Amanda Tusing
On June 14, 2000, twenty-year-old Amanda Tusing vanished after leaving her fiance Matt Ervin's house in Jonesboro, Arkansas at around 11:30PM. Just a few hours later, Matt found her car abandoned along Arkansas Highway 18, five miles east of St. Francis Bridge. Three days later, Amanda's body was discovered in a rain-swollen ditch near Lake City.
There was no sign of sexual assault. Although police believe she was suffocated and thrown in the ditch, the medical examiner could not confirm that. He did determine that she did not have water in her lungs, suggesting that she was dead before she entered the water. Detectives believe the killer was someone unknown to Amanda. They believe that a man impersonating a police officer pulled her over, lured her into his car and drove near the Big Bay Ditch, where he murdered her. They believe this man could be a serial killer who has done this before, judging by the lack of evidence found at the crime scene; however, this has yet to be determined as rain may have washed away crucial evidence at the crime scene.

Amanda Tusing
Amanda Tusing, 20, left her fiance's house in Jonesboro, Arkansas at 11:30 pm on June 15, 2000, to go to her parents' in Dell, Arkansas. She never arrived. At approximately 1:30 am, her fiance, Matthew Ervin, got in touch with her father, Ed, and they both drove toward each other on Arkansas Highway 18 until they found Amanda's car. Her wallet was in the car, keys in the car, the windshield wipers were paused midway across the windshield, and the radio was turned to her favorite station. After discovering the car without Amanda in it, Ervin and Ed went to a nearby town to call the police.
Tusing's body was found in a ditch three days later, on June 18. She was found 12 miles west of her car, which was odd as she had been traveling east. The heavy rain on the night that she disappeared severely messed up the investigation; if any evidence had been left by the killer, it was gone. There was no water in her lungs, meaning she was most likely dead before being placed in the ditch. Investigators believe that she was strangled to death, but this cannot be definitively determined-- again, due to the rain. There were no signs of sexual assault.
The case remains unsolved.
