In 2010 I broke down in tears in front of my thesis advisor. I had no friends, no life outside of college, and i had come to hate my degree field. I was contemplating dropping out of college. I was sent for counseling. It didn't help I went once and didn't go back. In 2011 I graduated with a bachelor's degree. In 2012 I got a full time job in a call center. I hated it. I was miserable. In 2013 I hit rock bottom. I couldn't stop crying. I would cry at work between callers with a scarf wrapped around my head and face so no one would notice. I told coworker I liked him. I was rejected. I had never even been on a date. It was a big deal for me to step out on a limb and tell him. In 2013 I received a diagnosis of Major Depression with probable ADHD inattentive. It was determined I had been depressed for at least 5 years possibly longer. In 2014 I bought a house. By myself. With a full 20% down payment. I had 2 or 3 close friendships In 2015 I was out of therapy. And by the end of the year off medication. In 2016 I finally got the chance to blossom. I had 4 or 5 close friends. I started to to think I might be happy. In 2017 I got a transfer out of the call center to actually use my degree. I am the happiest I have ever been in my life. This is my journey. I want to tell you that you are not alone. In 2013 I could never have imagined where I am today. In 2013 just going to work and getting out of bed was a task. Fandom is part of what saved me. The ability to lose myself, just for a little while, in a world not my own. Don't give up. You are not alone.

I have mental health issues. Others are fighting the same fight as well. So many don’t say anything at all. It’s an invisible battle that never ends. When defeat, pain, loss or the new incoming tide of dark thoughts...let it in. Feel them. Allow that. It’s OKAY. It’s wallowing & surrounding yourself with a negative mindset that becomes a dangerous habit. Feeling like others understand is affirming. Spending time or seeking out those who wallow is like an anchor. It changes nothing. It poisons every moment if every day with each word and thought you put out there. Wallowing offers no solutions. Just more of the same negativity making the cycle of hopelessness seem that much more dark & endless. Flip the script on negative thoughts. What positive can I see in this? How can I view this as something that’s not as harmful to my psyche? Reword this thought to sound affirming & less harmful? Practice, try, again & again & again and never ever stop. Keep trying. Keep doing it. Keep fighting. Hate And Love

Where I live most people are very judgemental and stereotype, they are very closed minded and don't like change even if it's for the better. From the age of 10 I've battled with depression, I had a bully in school that bullied me both mentally and physically. I went to my principal about it and even though he said he would make it stop nothing happened. I was bullied by the same person till grade 7. The only reason it stopped was because she moved away. During the time I was bullied I not only had depression but suicidal thoughts as well. It got so bad to the point where I almost committed suicide. In grade 7 when the bullying stopped I was still having issues with depression and suicidal thoughts, I still battle with it even today. When I got to high school I started getting bullied again, this time by guys who thought it would be funny to push their friends into me while I was walking by. At that point I started cutting myself. When my parents found out my mother told me if she ever saw me do that again she would put me in a mental hospital. I continued to do it in secret. In grade 11 and 12 the bullying didn't happen as often. I haven't cut myself since grade 10. I still battle with depression and sometimes suicidal thoughts. Even with all the happiness around me it's hard to overcome the depression when it's so strong. In a world where there is so much bad and hate I can see how staying positive can be difficult. What helps me sometimes is the little things that can distract me from the world, helping my grandma, watching my favorite TV show(Supernatural), my art, and just making people laugh. For me it's hard to tell my story because of all the bad that has happened to me but it also feels good to let people know that good overcomes the bad. Something good came into my life in high school and with her (my best friend) I would not be here today. #morelovelesshate #Supernatural #depression #AlwaysKeepFighting
