Amusingly, that type of game play would be available in the VRMMO in the game, you'd have to select the "Naval Captain" class on character creation instead of Independent like Diane does.
As far as "Why MMO?", it's because the series this work is intended to be part of is all based on some variety of VRMMO:
Trouble with Horns - CORA, fantasy MMO
Illegal Alien in a MMO World - CORA
Witch of Chains - CORA
Coven's Rebellion (Patreon Exclusive, unfinished) - CORA, but most of the book takes place outside the game

Most of the books have different MCs, though the MCs of the earlier books will appear or be mentioned in later books. They all take place in the same "100 years in the future" setting, all of them feature transfemme MCs, all have some sort of romance sub-plot, and all have a specific "feel."
Basic "universal" plot is:
Egg doesn't know they're egg
Egg goes into VR
Shenanigans Ensue, Egg plays as woman
Egg feels really good about playing as woman
Egg 'comes out' and becomes woman in either digital form or IRL
Digital Exodus is the odd duck (heh...duck, egg...geddit?) because it's intended to be the last book in the series. It's going to bring in it's own plot threads (there's a [SPOILER] storyline that seemingly comes from nowhere) but it's all about wrapping up the meta-story introduced in "Trouble."
"Code of Ethics" follows the same formula as the others, but it's "feel" is "spy thriller," so the "MMO" part is only backdrop, not the primary driver of the story.
If you happen to play Star Trek: Fleet Command, you might just recognize a lot of "Galaxies Unlimited: Master and Commander" if you tilt your head and squint. 😉 I'm on the constant lookout for stuff that would keep it from being a carbon copy, so I might have to take a look at Nebulous Fleet Command if I feel like my writing of the setting is getting stale. 😊
While QuietVallerie hasn't endorsed my book as canon (yet...hopefully...knock on wood), I'm intending for it to fit with everything else she's written without altering her timeline or plot events. The idea is the events of "Code of Ethics" are spycraft, nobody is intended to be aware of them on the same scale as, say, the events of Coven's Rebellion.
(And for anyone reading this that's unaware, the subject of this post is Code of Ethics, currently being written and published on Scribblehub.)

i would also like it to be known that my version of miguel is not here to be either an instant ship or a punching bag. i understand the appeal and the temptation, and that, particularly in the across the spider-verse movie, he's coded as the antagonist, but please don't assume he's here for automatic smut, or to be hated on or humiliated by your characters! thank you!

i think the only drama i actually witnessed unfold is the one that just happened on twitter wrt: Tor publishing a book with AI cover art 💀 they really said "omg we didn't know :( we're still gonna publish it tho" like BRUH. they deserved all the shit they got and more, i really hope the fallout of that was big enough for publishers to at least think twice before trying that again

10. What's your V's signature drink in the Afterlife?
i do not drink and know very little about alcohol but i do have an answer for this one for vex at least. screaming orgasm. because she is obnoxious and also i saw a youtube video about "aggressively horny cocktails" and couldn't/didn't stop myself. it's either that or like, a whiskey sour. or something radioactively purple. again i know very little about drinking. i do eventually want to figure out drinks for the other two. someday.
12. Does your V have any special mementos/tattoos/etc.?
i can actually give an answer for all three here so i'm gonna. who's gonna stop me? two of them are tattoos and the other is an item. kinda.
so for vex, she is covered in tattoos but not a lot of them have like...bigger meanings. two that do are on her left upper arm. she's got the "don't bite the hand that feeds" on her inner arm, which used to kind of mark her as an "employee" of the guy she worked for and acted like a tracker and when she stopped being a joytoy she got the don't crossed out and the tracker de-activated (mentioned this on the vex facts i posted the other day) but also on this arm, above her inner elbow she has 2072, which is the year she met jackie. so both those tattoos go hand in hand i guess, since they both kinda lead back to when he saved and changed her life.
vesper's tattoo has less to do with her story in cyberpunk and more to do with who she was when i originally created the character. vesper was originally an altered carbon oc that i made back in 2018, and when the game came out, she just fit so unbelievably well (like from being a merc down to hallucinating the guy she loves through some questionable tech in her head kinda well). in her altered carbon verse, she has a v tattooed behind the left ear of every one of her sleeves. in the game i put it on the back of her neck because otherwise it gets hidden by her hair, but it's my nice little reminder to myself.
now vera's isn't a tattoo. it's a recording. i liked to headcanon that the bakkers record comms when they have teams out on jobs or drives. and vera's mom, who died when she was around 6-8 years old, died out on a drive, and because the comms were on and she knew they were being recorded, used it as a way to say goodbye to her daughter, even though it cuts out before she manages to finish. vera snuck into wherever they kept the recordings and pulled this one off before she left the clan. it's one of very few things other than her clothes that she actually took with her. only other thing is a bracelet that she's had her whole life (might have been her mom's or her dad's) that she wears on her right wrist that she will later give to saul.

Stephen Holder is such an underrated character honestly. Shows so much range in Joel's part. He can be snarky, tough, angry, and/or depressed in every episode. Season 3 so far made me appreciate Joel's acting more. It was truly peak Joel.

please feel free to like or reply to this post if you are a rp blog that is interested in interacting with takeshi kovacs, canon character from richard morgan’s / netflix’s altered carbon (though interactions are welcome in any and all verses, crossovers and alternate universes!). these interactions might include random starters, memes from him, edits, drabbles, headcanons, gifsets, wishlist items, playlists, you name it. please note activity levels and muse do fluctuate widely so interactions w/ any character may be sporadic: feast or famine.
trigger warnings for this character do include violence, possible gore or torture, combat (military and otherwise), allusions to situations involving abuse, sex trafficking, murder, rape etc.. mention of drug use and occasional detailed descriptions of their effects etc. will occur; drinking and smoking mentions happen frequently as does sexual content (varying degrees of kinks depending on partner and verse). also worth mentioning, he suffers from varying degrees of ptsd that varies depending on verse and has been known to disassociate / turn off.
