Duskull can pass through any wall no matter how thick it may be. Making itself invisible, it silently sneaks up to prey once it chooses a target it will doggedly pursues its prey wherever it goes. However, the chase is abandoned at sunrise. A glare from its single scarlet eye makes even burly grown-ups freeze in utter fear. It is a nocturnal Pokemon that roams about under the cloak of darkness.

Note: As Stated by @nighttime-pokemon​ Duskulls are known to sometimes decide humans will adopt them, regardless of their opinions on the matter. They will make themselves at home in a basement or attic and start acting friendly with whoever lives in the house. – Professor Fanalia

SIDE NOTES: Another fact reported by Alice of @nighttime-pokemon​ if you have a Duskull or Dusclops and find that many of your house items such as pokemon toys, plushies, sheets, or even clothes seem to disappear fairly frequently, it’s very likely that your pokemon is taking them. Duskulls and Dusclops are theorized to engage in intense nesting behaviour, and they’re probably the one taking you stuff away. – Professor Kryspyn

ADDITONAL NOTES: fascinatingly once a year, on the first full moon of the New Year. The Duskull line were rumoured to descend from the mountains to scare villagers, in search of naughty children. They particularly enjoy scaring small children and new brides. Despite their ferocious appearance and behaviour, they are actually well-meaning Ghost-types. Some old wife’s tale stated that they are sent down from the mountain as messengers of the gods to warn and chastise those who have been lazy or wicked. – Professor Fanalia

Writober2k19 - Day 5

If I were smart I would do something different but...

It was a night patrol day for Tapu Koko, it something he liked to do just to keep watch on the entire Island just to make sure nothing strange was going on. You why you normal go on patrol really. And today was his biweekly sweep of the entire region, not just Melemele Island. It was going to be a long night, but he needs to keep his eyes peeled.

But first, he had to take “it” to an Incineroar, Keahi (@incinemania​) he belive his name was (he had a hard time telling them apart). What was “it” by the way? An Autograph Hat. Don’t question it he was a fanboy. 

Koko had agreed to meet him on Ten Carat Hill, at night because he wasn’t busy at this time. Flying over Iki town the Tapu noticed some Drifloon and Drifblim hovering overhead. They better not be going after Hau. Thankfully it seems like they were just meeting a Misdreavus and Mismagius. Still, he was going to keep an eye on them when he got back.

Anyways, flying over to Ten Carat Hill. Past where some Sabyle were chasing down a Carbink. The diety met with Keahi and gave him the hat, made some small talk and left. Gotta do the rest of his patrols after all.

Let’s see next was Kukui’s house. So after flying down there, he spotted some Inkay, Malamar, Zorua, and Zoroark hanging around. Nothing out of the ordinary so he moved on to Malie City.

Unlike everywhere else, the cities on Alola were always bustling even late at night, although it wasn’t that late really. To keep an eye on things, the diety change into his human form to observe things. Other than the Alolan Ratata and Raticate trying to steal some food until an Umbreon came and chased them off, nothing of interest was happening.

Hmm, you know what he should probably grab some Tapu Cocoa. So he headed to the Pokemon Center Cafe to get some. As he was ordering he saw people watching a live stream. The diety was a bit confused since nothing seems to be happening, but he did see a Poltegeist, an Impidimp, a Morpeko, and the Galar forms of Zigzagoon, Linoone, and Obstagoon. Strange. Anyways after giving his trash to the Alolan Grimer and Muk, he flew to his next Patrol Destination Akala Island.

Koko arrived at Akala Island at the beach near the Hano Grand Resort. He saw some Sandygast and a Palossand trying to fend off a Dhelmise from getting on to the beach. Strange. Well, first off, let’s check out the Lush Jungle for obvious reasons. Hmmm, a Blacephlon was walking out of the Jungle, well that made sense since Xurk seemed to be close with the other Ultra beast with the exception of the obvious two.

Well, anyways nothing was going on so now it was time to check on Lele. Hmm, looks like some Litwick, Lampent, and a Chandelure were visiting the Phantump and Trevenant Memorial Hill and were doing some sort of dance. Maybe they were doing something for Halloween?

Oh, he also saw his friend “Dark Dark” the Darkrai (@darkvcid) looking as anxious as always. He was talking to a Sprititomb, probably to vent all his anxieties too. Probably best to leave him alone.

Arriving at the Ruins of Life, it seems that the Tyranitar that Olivia and Lele have been nursing back to health was recovering nicely, but other than that, nothing of interest was happening. Which was good considering Lele.

Flying over the rest of the Island, other than wondering why the Alolan Marrowak were not dancing with the dance troupe, nothing interesting was really happening on the rest of the Island. Which honestly was a good thing, peaceful days were becoming increasingly rare.

Oh right, Scarlet’s ship (@swordsandfeathers)was dock at KoniKoni city he probably should say hi to her while he’s in the area. Although once he arrived he saw her underlings Murkan the Absol and Sangir the Houdoom, were talking to a Poochyana, Mightyana and a Houndour. Hmm, it looks like a serious conversation. Better wait until later.

Wow, Heahea City was quite lively this evening. It must be because of the Halloween spirit. He saw that an actor guild, which included a Nuzleaf and a Shiftry were doing a little play for all to see. He also saw that the Haunted house was training the Shedinja and Drapion, as well as the Honedge, Doublade, and Aegislash to play there part. And of course, Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist were here for some Halloween fun. He even saw his friend Grey the Decidueye (@spiritedoperetta) partaking in the festivities. He wanted to say hi, but he lost him in the crowd. Oh well next is Ula’Ula and that’s was going to take a while.

Flying past the school of Frillish and Jellicent, Koko arrived at the Thrifty Megamart. Peering in he could see the usual suspects: Gastly, Haunter, Gengar, Shuppet, Banette and of course, Mimikyu. Nothing out of the ordinary, which was good, don’t want Acerola’s hard work to go to waste.

Sigh, guess he better go to Po Town to see what Team Skull was up too. He really didn’t want to go. He’d rather watch the Pangoro and the Bisharp fight he saw on the way and cheer along with the rest of the Pawniard, but duty was a duty.

Thankfully it did seem like he had to keep watch over Po town for long. Looks like Team Skull’s latest scheme using Stunky and Stuntank backfired on them. Haha serves them right!

Maybe he should go stop by Nanu’s although when he got there he found that he was out for the moment oh well. Might as well give some of the Alolan Meowth and Persian a pat on the head... As well as the Purrloin and Liepard?! Where did they come from? Well, that was Nanu’s problem, so he better not mess with it.

Next, he should head to the observatory. No Team Skull members in sight. Just some Rotom having fun after there shift had ended with a Golett and a Golurk. Apparently, they were putting on a light show for themselves or something.

After that Koko headed to the Pokemon League. There wasn’t a League battle happening right now but some Sneasel, Weavile, and a Froslass. Was watching a rerun with a Greninja

Lastly, he needed to go to the Haina desert. There were some Scraggy and Scrafty beating up some Team Skull members. Nice. Huh, oh look it was Greed the Cofagrigus (@ghostlysands) and his cohort of Yamasks talking with Cacturne. Those aren't something you see on this Island but neither were Cofagrigus. Must be an old friend visiting.

Oh, there was Bulu. A family of Sandile, Krokorok, and Krookodile were trying to get his attention but to no avail. Oh, Bulu. As much as Koko wanted to stay and help(?) he needed to head to Poni Island.

Flying past the Carvanha and the Sharpedo that were swimming in the opposite direction he landed on Poni Island. There he was surprised to see Lysandre (Yveltal @lyvandre) here for some reason along with his swarm of Murkrow and Honchkrow following him around as usual. Oh, perhaps he was going to see the Oricorio dance? No, he walked past them. Oh well, no time to figure out what he was doing now. Gotta check on the Ruins of Hope.

After making a pitstop to help a baby Vullaby get back to her Mommy Mandibuzz, Koko arrived at the Ruins of Hope. There he found that Tapu Fini’s shrine Dusknoirs were busy training some Dusclops and Duskull. After giving them a little pep talk the Tapu headed for the last stop of the night, the Altar of the Moone.

There he was going to meet up with Nyx the Lunala (@starlitbeast) to say hello. Although when he got there he was surprised she already had the Marshadow (@legendsbehold) visiting her as well.

After a small chat, Koko found out that she saw some Pokemon that weren’t native to the Alola region at the north end of the Island. Well, that wasn’t good. Saying his goodbyes to the two the diety set off to investigate.

After telling a Crawdaunt that the area was dangerous, the diety saw that the Pokemon that Nyx saw were a Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon. Three Pokemon that should not be there. But when the Tapu approached them to ask them why they were here they were suddenly teleported away and lots of cold water was teleported on him.

Koko was so confused about what had happed until he heard laughter behind him. Turning around he saw Giratina and Hoopa laughing at him. The nerve of those two. Koko charged in for an attack, but they teleported away before he made contact. Cowards! If you're going to prank someone, stay for the consequences like a man!

Well, time to go back he guessed. Hmmm was that Guzzlord (@ultraruined)? What was he doing here? Oh wait he lived here didn’t he? Well, he doesn’t seem to be doing anything wrong, but the diety decided to spy on him for a while before heading back.

Overall just an average night in the life of Tapu Koko.

Pokemon News Issue #130

  Oh boy its a Pokemon News! And its me, Viger, bringing it straight to you. Also, good lord do we have a lot to report on in this issue. I’ll do my best to cover all the bases, but without further ado, let’s just get right into it.

  First up, we have the English translated version of the previous USUM trailer that hinted at more of the story. With these translations, it has been confirmed that the story being told in USUM will be far different than Sun and Moon. The story in USUM is reported to be twice that of Sun and Moon, and that their will be far more post-game content, far surpassing both Emerald and Platinum. The trailer’s main showcase was Necrozma, and its goal to steal the light of Alola, as it did in the past. Check out the trailer yourself and tell me what you think will happen.

    Aside from this massive story themed trailer, we also have confirmation of another new Pokemon specific Z-Move. This time, its for Mimikyu. This report comes from a retail description of the upcoming Z Power Ring toy, which comes with a small figure of Mimikyu and a Z Crystal called “Mimikum Z”. As to what this move is called of what its effects will be is currently unknown, but more will be revealed in due time.

  Remember that super weird 2DS game “Detective Pikachu – Birth of a New Duo”? Well, its being made into a full length movie. And there are rumors that Ryan Reynold or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson might play the role of Pikachu. Yes…..this is currently a thing that is happening, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I am most certainly keeping my eye on this story, as should you.

  Pokemon GO is receiving a pretty big update for Halloween this year. Not only will you be able to catch a festive Pikachu wearing a witch’s hat, and not only will there be an increase in Ghost and Dark Type Pokemon to catch, but you will also be able to catch Sableye, Shuppet, and Duskull, making the first appearance of Generation 3 Pokemon in the game. No release date for the update has been announced, and a timetable for Generation 3’s full inclusion in the game has not been revealed. My guess, lots of connection issues, cuz its Pokemon GO. Its kind of its thing.

    A new distribution event has been revealed in anticipation of USUM’s launch. This distribution will net players a brand new Shiny Silvally for Sun and Moon. According to Serebii, “In North America, you’ll be able to get it at Gamestop (US) or EB Games (Canada) from October 23rd to November 13th 2017 while in the UK you’ll be able to get it at GAME from November 3rd through to November 16th 2017. The code can then be redeemed until February 13th 2018. This distribution matches ones that hit Japan, Korea and Taiwan last month.” Not moves, abilities, or held items have been revealed yet.

  One last thing that came out as of writing this new article relating to USUM, and its pretty important. During an interview on Famitsu, it has been confirmed that various legendary Pokemon, including Mewtwo, will be able to be caught through the use of different Ultra Wormholes, just like how the Hoopa Rings in ORAS worked. During another interview with IGN, game producer, Shigeru Ohmori (Of whom our very own Fluffiest got a nice picture with and a nice chat with as well), confirmed that USUM will be the last main series Pokemon game to release on the 3DS, claiming that USUM will be a “culmination of their work on the device.” This fuels more speculation as to what the upcoming Pokemon Switch game will be like, and what a possible main series Pokemon game will be like on a main console, as opposed to a handheld console. We will most certainly have more information when it is available.

Hex Maniac: What is your favourite ghost type? 

Oh shit that is difficult because I have many ghost favs. I love Gengar (well their whole evolution line is great) because they have a nice simple design and they are shaped like a friend (they are also a good fighter). There are also pokemon like the shuppet line (creepy hand puppet to evil voodoo doll that deserves love). the duskull line is cute. Shedinja (undead cicada shell who cannot eat), Sableye (gem eater goblin). Drifloon and Drifblim (creepy ballon that steals children and simple happy blimp). Froslass may be not the strongest defensively but she is still good and was a good edition to the Snorunt line. Rotom has a great design and concept (being the alolan pokedex is great as well). Griatina is a def fav for being a shapeshifting ghost dragon centipede thing.  Yamask and Cofagrirus have nice designs and I love how the latter move. the Litwick line are cute and evil (and fucking good fire ghost types), Frillish line is good design wise (being ghost jellyfish monsters) and they can take a lot of hits. Golett and Golurk were my number #1 favs as ghost types because they are one of the few ghosts that protect people and they are giant golem robots (I dig giant robots! Also, them being ground/ghost types helped). The honedge line may be overused but I still love their design and typing. the phantump line and Pumpkaboo line are equally good with cute designs and creepy backstories behind them. Decidueye is a pretty good grass/ghost type as well (grass/ghost has been a good typing for me) and they are an awesome owl (I’ve been wanting another owl pokemon for a long time). Sensu style Oricorio I still need to use to see how they are but I dig their design. Lunala is a pretty good design with the space inside their eyes and being a skeleton bat doesn’t hurt as well. Alolan Marowak has a good typing and I like their design (I actually prefer Alolan marowak over kanto marowak). Mimikyu is a great fairy AND ghost type pokemon that packs a fucking punch! The totem Mimikyu almost took my whole team ddown in Sun becuase of how much of a hard hit they are. I used them throughout most of my journey in Sun. Sandygast and Palossand are cute and good with being really good special attackers with decent defense plus they are a HAUNTED SANDCASTLE THAT EATS PEOPLE! They were going to be my number one favorite dethroning Golurk that was until I got myself a Dhelmise. Dhelmise is a 12′10 tall monstrocity that when I first saw it I thought it was going to be a ghost/water type or ghost/steel type but instead is a ghost/grass type which is odd but cool. I love how this thing is and anchor with a broken helm, a compass eye, and a ships’ jet propeller. It looks like it’s covered in seaweed but that seaweed is it’s flesh! This thing as just normal seaweed and somehow becomes a ghost pokemon and absorbs what falls on the ocean bed. I named mine the Goryo after the sunken haunted ship with seaweed monsters from Okami. 

Gen: Your favourite Pokémon generation?

My original fav generation was Gen 5 for taking what started in Gen 4 (attempting to add more lore and story in the series) and expanding it with developed characters, good heartfelt story, and new experimental pokemon. But now Gen 5 has been surpassed with Gen 7 taking everything from Gen 5 and taking what worked in Gen 6 and just multiplying it by 12. Sun and Moon has made me feel so many emotions and I felt so invested in the game with the story and characters. I love so many aspects of it and a lot of the mechanics are fun. The Z-moves are silly and I love the pokemon rider since that means I don’t have to use HMs. The changes it made with the trials instead of gym was a fresh breath of air to the series and I fully welcome it. I like it when pokemon does something new and different. I’m glad they put more effort in Gen 7 than they did in Gen 6. I’m also glad what helped Pokemon make Gen 7 the way it is was by having good competition of another series I like, Yokai watch. 

Rotem: What is your favourite region in Pokémon?  

That is a tough one because each Region has something to offer. But if I had to choose, the top for to me in no particular order would be Sinnoh, Unova, and Alola. 

After watching Chuggaconroy’s lets play of Pokemon Platinum I started remembering all the good things about Sinnoh. Sure, Sinnoh’s victory road is annoying and a bitch to get through and having to use defog in certain areas was just no. But everything else in Sinnoh is well nice. Mt. Coronet being in the center of the region dividing it in half, the lore in sinnoh with the Canalave Library, and the Distortion world being one of the most unique looking places in Pokemon. Sinnoh was one of the good things from my days in Middle school.

Unova was a lot of fun to explore and all the things one can interact with was very nice. The change of seasons, the best victory road (and victory road music), very cool cities that some has designs differences between version and after the time skip in Black2 and White2, the bride at the time showing the improvement of the graphics in pokemon and the start of the improvement of them. How music was a key thing in pokemon with certain npcs you could talk to who played instruments or could sing and you would start hearing their inclusion in the background music. The return of characters like Looker and Cynthia. I have replayed black 3 times so far and I loved replaying it. This was the region that helped me start experimenting different pokemon to use in battle. 

Alola just looks beautiful and I love the islands and just how different all of them are. The architecture differences like with Malie Garden stating that people from Johto who came to the island made Malie city or Seafolk Village with people living in boats OR even the Aether Foundation being an artificially made island. Alola is new similar to Unova but moreso. Alola brought a lot of new things and I loved how the Elite Four was new for them and how when you become champion (the first champion mind you) you have to defend you title similar to Blue to Red back in Kanto in Gen 1. It brings back all the old stuff but mixes it into something new.
