// Ok I didn’t want to go this far but at this point, you guys are hating on Ayato just for clout and it shows. It’s okay not to like a character but straight up spreading misinformation about him is not okay. If you lack reading comprehension, just admit it.
What makes Ayato’s past so sad isn’t only the fact that Cordelia was mean towards him. She mentally and physically abused him, yet what genuinely hurt Ayato the most was the way Cordelia treated ALL the triplets. A part of him didn’t even want to kill her, given that he CRIED in the MB flashbacks because, despite being a huge abuser, he STILL felt sympathy even for someone like her. No matter how horrible Cordelia was, Ayato still wished for Karlheinz to reciprocate her feelings only to finally see her happy.
Don't even get me started on the Adam curse. He was practically used as bait and abandoned to death by his own brothers, but he still hoped for their safety after escaping. That curse literally destroyed his entire life because its purpose was to make the person who ate the fig drown in despair and go insane. That's why he was sooo obsessed with Yui's blood. Heck, he's cursed in routes other than his own, as he goes insane in Ruki's MB one, to the point that his brothers had to lock him inside the dungeon. In addition, in his MB Vampire Ending, he falls into a coma because he refuses to hurt Yui and keep drinking her blood.
Other than that, Laito was the one who made him believe that he wasn’t special, hence he adopted the “I will never make someone special again” mentality. He also wanted to kill him when he was younger (no hate towards any of his brothers though). Kanato was the only one who never did something bad to him, considering that when Ayato was a child, Reiji called him the disappointment of the family after failing a test.
Ayato did twisted stuff too; no character is a saint, but he always tries his best to fix things. Even when not dating Yui, he’s capable of showing compassion, support and a desire to improve his relationship with his brothers BY HIMSELF. Check this analysis for example.
Other than that, despite every time being hurt when trying to show kindness, he still became a very selfless guy who’d sacrifice himself for anyone at any given time. What makes this even more admirable is that according to Karlheinz, he’s literally the only one who actually VALUES his life. This guy who loves life would risk it all for Yui, even when not dating, or for any of his brothers.

On top of that, he's incredibly empathic?? He forgives everybody, no matter what they do to him, and seeks to maintain good relations with them. In Kino's LE route, for example, he tortures and burns Ayato, but Ayato is the first person to recognize him as his brother because he wanted Kino to feel that he, too, belonged to a family.
Last but not least, nobody silences Karlheinz as good as him. He was also the only one who connected the dots by himself about his dad being the root of all evil (Laito too but that was after the letter), including being the only one who didn’t want to kill him only because he didn’t want to fall into his plan. Check this post.
Oh and, Ayato is actually really big; it’s not that only his fans make him that way! This post basically proves that he’s the IT boy of otome games and I should also mention that he’s the character that sells the most in Japan and China! Just look what Japanese fans think of him. ;)
You can dislike him as much as you want but nobody can deny how brave and pure-hearted he is. He’s the definition of from zero to hero.
As I mentioned earlier, it's fine to dislike him, but don't become obsessed with it, lol. At the end of the day, he's merely a fictional character with endearing characteristics and the male lead. It's really not that deep. Besides, it's embarrassing when the hate comes from Yui stans because she definitely wouldn't be happy of any of you talking about her man in that way.

How would you rank the boys from most to least possessive? Kind of random question I know but I'm just interested in your opinion :3
it makes me really happy knowing you all love my opinions even though I feel like that's it's been long since I read a few routes and hopefully don't make any misinterpretation 😭
I didn't know what kind of interpretation you wanted so I gave my opinions in what way they were and now are possessive and why.
there are chances some people's ranking might not match with mine but I tried my best to rank the boys based on my (not so horrible) memories. it was difficult to do overall so I did family wise because many boys were ending up on a tie.
(don't forget to read the conclusion note!!)
I ranked based on them giving freedom to Yui from least to highest !!!
Sakamakis:
1. Ayato: it's wayyyy too obvious that Ayato is the most possessive out of all his brothers, and one of the reasons being Cordelia's obsession to make him no.1 which narrowed down his mentality to "yours truly" and always getting/acquiring "first class things" it can also be seen in the anime how obsessed he became to make Yui only his after being the first one to taste her blood, to the point he left hickeys on her before she went for a bath. I wouldn't say his possessiveness towards Yui was just as "a prey", more than that, his obsession to be number one due to Cordelia surpassed that reason as Yui's blood was considered special as it was the finest of its quality in the whole world, according to them.
Kanato: I haven't read his routes much, actually I tried to but just couldn't make myself sit through it, but based on what I have seen in anime and some routes, he is one of the most possessive ones after ayato (maybe?) and.... not in a good way. I don't think I need to expand on it because we all have sat through it in anime in scenes with Kanato. though there are chances he might have changed a little(?) in future games, Kanato stans are free to come and correct me because he is one of the characters whose content I have never read much.
Laito: it might be surprising to some but let me tell you, his possessiveness started on Yui as "a prey" behind that facade he puts on due to what Cordelia did to him. it's more like he is conflicted. his possessiveness is way too conflicted because of Cordelia. openly, people think that he let's Yui to be shared to others but I think it's more like, he don't wanna succumb to any feelings or have anyone special to him, to the point he don't wanna be possessive to someone in either good way or bad way. but ofc, after staying with Yui, he finally started to open up and slowly became possessive (in mid of MB maniac/ecstasy, then VC and further) I would say he is a silent possessive man, because people will think he is being carefree but he is indirectly protecting Yui (encounter with Carla and Shin in DF)
Reiji: the only reason Reiji is considered more possessive than Subaru is because of his obsession to not let Yui in contact with Shu, which is of course because he was scared. Seeing how everything eventually belonged to Shu, no matter if he wanted it or not, meanwhile he, Reiji, being neglected by everyone, even servants, he was scared to lose Yui to Shu. and thus he was such a nasty possessive man in the first game, but his character slowly developed and his possessiveness turned towards the direction of sweetness. it was good to see how he went from being scared of Shu snatching Yui away to not feeling the fear anymore and having full on trust on Yui which is a very big thing in Reiji's case.
Subaru: because of his distrust in women due to his mom, even though he was possessive with Yui, it was not in a good way but, thankfully, eventually as he became comfortable with her, he slowly became a sweet gentle boy. what I liked the most was that despite being possessive he let Yui freely roam around but magically appeared whenever someone advances at her. tsundere.
Shu: my lazy sloth, who doesn't want to have anyone close to him because of his past. he was the least possessive for obvious reasons but gradually as his relationship with Yui developed and he came out of his bubble, his possessive side could be seen. Just like the other two before, he did give freedom to Yui but easily gets jealous so his possessiveness was never in a bad way that much.
Mukamis:
(these brothers were so hard to rank because they are equal to each other when it comes to possessiveness)
Kou: ┐(´ー｀)┌ he was very much possessive of Yui in MB but in a very wrong way due to obsession of Adam's apple plan but thankfully by the end of ecstasy he started becoming a little normal. he gets easily jealous, so Yui always watch out for herself. in conclusion, he is the most possessive in his brothers and thankfully it went from toxic to normal possessiveness.
Ruki: livestock. yes that's the word he used to rationalise his toxic possessiveness towards Yui for completion of his plan. it was cute to see how he went from being possessive as "master" to being possessive as a jelly boyfie. plus one of the reasons he is very possessive with Yui is because he can never get any "undisturbed" alone time with her due to his brothers which makes his actions ,when he is being possessive with her, very cute.
Yuma: my sweet Gardner boy. (Yuma Stans help me because I'm out of words (╥﹏╥))
Azusa: my cinnamon roll and one of the members of "eve's no. 1 protector" club. Azusa is cutely possessive (if we ignore the knife obsession in starting). best boi, will do anything for Yui. Might not look possessive of Yui but he secretly is but more than that, to him her happiness matters the most. I read somewhere that in his route in chaos lineage it was revealed he asked Karlheinz to turn back time 3-4 times??? I'm not sure if i remember it correctly but this also directs towards how he remembers in almost most of the routes in CL, and in some, to us readers, it's indirectly hinted that he remembers but he is hiding it.... but that's a topic for another day. also feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. and we got distracted from the topic.......
Tsukinamis:
Shin: insecure possessiveness. after losing his eye and getting his pride hurt, his only aim was to surpass his brother, Carla, which he was never able to. just like how Carla wanted recognition from his father, Shin wanted recognition from his older brother. this is why he was so obsessed to get Yui in every single route, even in his own route. this is why I loved his route, because of the development. minor details matter too. his toxic possessiveness turning into normal boyfriend possessiveness yet the goal to acquire her remaining the same but not in toxic way (LE being an example when he pushed Yui away to keep her safe no matter how much he wanted her.)
Carla: he is such a beautiful composed character, that people aren't aware about the rate of his possessiveness. unless you have read any Carla route, you won't know how bad is the possessive rate in Tsukinami family. as he was raised to be a king, he hides his emotions well which is also the reason why it took him time to realise his own feelings but when he did, the possessiveness (ﾉ´･ω･)ﾉ ﾐ ┻━┻
because of DF Shin, Carla is on second rank or else his LE route was dangerous for my heart. ifykyk
→ I didn't rank kino because I'm totally not aware with his character so I didn't wanna make any wrong interpretation.
in conclusion: all of them were toxic-ly possessive at some rate but slowly as the more time they spent with Yui and developed their character, their nature of possessiveness also started to change. I rated the possessiveness based on the freedom they allow Yui for.
any diaboy at first rank doesn't mean that they don't give freedom to Yui at all, it's just less compared to others and their jealousy level is ↑

i cannot believe its 2024 and there’s people that think cordelia did nothing wrong 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
i apologize for the rant but
i read the original ‘argument’ and well
personally, i think its kinda insulting to the triplets as characters to just diminish everything they experienced as children and say that cordelia was a good mother. to say that “cordelia never had sex with laito and never had sex in front of kanato!” and that it was just blood drinking is like … insane to me.
like. just use your brain. i really don’t wanna go into a long rant about this, but im prettttty sure laito wouldn’t be attempting to ruin all people that still have their purity by forcing them into sexual intimacy and having such a bad perspective of love if he was just asked by cordelia to drink his blood. like seriously, in MB laito even uses the word “love” to get sex with some of the maids, since thats his understanding of love. and who would’ve taught him that? maybe the person he continuously has conversations about love with in his flashbacks. like his mom.
and im prettttty sure kanato wouldn’t be so traumatized by just seeing his mom drink blood in front of him. kanato even learned how to pleasure girls BY what he witnessed crim cordelia. please correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure kanato said in dc that cordelia even made him sing until his voice cords bled. kanato was neglected, ignored even when cordelia was doing something intimate with another — which made him the character he is. bratty, angry, always needing to fight for attention. even in cordelias death, kanato took her ashes and stuffed them into teddy so that he finally could have ALL the attention and all of her that he never could have. even eating them when he felt alone.
im not going to touch on ayato since i think his abuse is the most known, and my point about this is just more on the sexual abuse anyways.
theres no denying ALL of them were abused in their own ways.
my point is, if you say laito never engaged sexually with cordelia and kanato never witnessed cordelia having sex with other men, their character development would literally make no sense. flashbacks appear for a reason in DL, and its to give an explanation on how they developed into the diabolical characters we know and love. if cordelia was such a good mother she would not be shown so often in the triplets routes. i mean, look at shu’s. beatrix hardly makes an appearance in his in comparison to the other brothers, since his explanation on his character development comes from what happened with edgar more than his mothers authoritarian parenting.
i also think people get confused of the difference of liking a well written character and completely justifying what they’ve done. cordelia has gone through her own share of trauma, so it makes sense how she came to be the mother we know, which is an abusive one. but its not an excuse, its just an explanation for her actions. i love her as she’s a great antagonist, but just because i do doesn’t mean i love what she’s done. you can do both.

⊹˚. ♡.𖥔 ݁ ˖ Blog introduction
— Hi guys ! I’m Maru and I made this blog to post about diabolik lovers and my oc Hikari! I’ll do a proper introduction post to her, but to tell you a little about her:
Hikari is an 18 years old girl that's sent to the Sakamaki mansion by Karlheinz, with the mission of charming everyone in the house.
— Some of her lore
Hikari is one of the multiple experiments of Karlheinz, a magic modified human being. She was adopted alongside the Mukami brothers from the orphanage, but was kept locked in Rotigenberg for a long time as Karlheinz experimented with her.
Thanks to Karlheinz experiments, Hikari developed enhanced senses, a perfect health and an "immortality" close to that of a turned vampire, that meaning she doesn't age or die as long as she doesn't get killed.
Due to the nature of her existence, Hikari is considered to be one of the first prototypes of an "Eve" and is nicknamed "Lilith" by Karl because of that.
— Some facts / headcanons / ideas I have
She coexists with Yui, and she would appear in More Blood as a rival at the start of some routes due to her mission, and as an ally / alleged love interest in some endings. In the next games, Hikari would become another love interest for Yui :) I also think it would be cool if after finishing the games, you had an option to play as her and unlock more of her lore.
Hikari doesn't really have a defined love interest; she has a love-hate relationship with Laito, and definitely has a crush on Shu, but I feel like she could have really interesting dynamics with the other characters.
She's 167cm tall (so, taller than Kanato and shorter than Azusa), and her birthday is on January 25th, a few days before Kou's.
She was created in like 2015 and started as a self insert, but then I made her an OC lol.
In the orphanage, Hikari became very close with the Mukami brothers and the day they decided to run away, she tried serving as a distraction.
Like Kou, Hikari was exploited in the orphanage and sold for profit, this made them bond and become very close friends.

Your analyzes are really helpful and so valuable to the community. It was from your latest analysis of Reiji that I got motivated to research the boys more thoroughly and became very knowledgeable about behavioral issues. But as I replayed each HDB and MB route, I suddenly realized something.
Each of the brothers is very different, but they all seem to share a lot in common when it comes to punishment and obedience. Despite being raised by such different types of mothers, many of the brothers use one common control tactic - a "reward" for obedience or punishment for disobedience. Of course, some of them can take the reward as such, while others have it quite twisted. And it seems that this practice really works on Yui, because this way they train her to obey without a second thought so that she can to avoid the pain, but I got the impression that they didn't see it that way. For most of the development of Yui's "relationship" with one of the boys, this goes to an extreme and eventually she starts to lose the line between pain and pleasure and things get complicated. But I wonder if they are doing this to make her a masochist? As far as I am informed, a man cannot suddenly become a masochist, but is born with such a tendency, and over time, so to speak, learns to awaken it. Does this mean that Yui is actually really a masochist, and it's not just words when brothers say so?
Of course I know your focus is mainly Reiji and I have no idea if you've played any of the other routes to you know. Also, Reiji isn't as mentally screwed up as Cordelia's sons and he acts very carefully and thinks his actions out more than his brothers. But since you also mentioned this reward and punishment tactic, I would be very happy if you could give me your opinion on the subject.
This is a very astute observation! You are right with each brother engaging in Operant Conditioning (or punishment and reward) even though they each have different mothers; I don't think this is coincidental. From what we see of their mothers, it can be implied that the behaviour is learned - we predominantly see this with Cordelia and her general behaviour, but we also see this with Beatrix and Shuu (I would mention Christa but I feel I lack a thorough understanding of her character). From each of the brothers, to the mothers and by extension even the Mukamis, they all seem to exhibit this form of behaviour; the only way for this to occur [beyond coincidence] is for there to be an interlinking variable. In this case, our good friend Karlheinz - CEO of Beans, Means, Heinz.
From what we learn from Ayato's and Laito's routes, it's implied that Cordelia met Karheinz when she was young - in other words, he preyed on her for her blood, and for her heritage. This can imply that Cordelia may have, in fact, been groomed (for Karl's plan) - since it can be implied that he too engages in the punishment and reward system. This is mainly theoretical, however, from Cordelia's extensive collection of fine jewellery - that, (if I'm right) come from Karlheinz (and can even be implied to be 'love bombing'). We know that Cordelia becomes self-destructive and abusive when she isn't with Karl, possibly implying that his time and gifts act as the "reward" - whereas him marrying Beatrix, Christa and generally discarding Cordeila acts as the "punishment". Cordelia possibly learned her behaviour from Karl and imprinted it onto her children - a sort of "cause and effect" if you will - whereas I've implied Beatrix to suffer from some form of generational trauma; though Karl may have also [possibly] used Operant Conditioning on Beatrix, and Christa, too.
And yes, you're right - some brothers are generous with the rewards and do something that actively makes Yui happy, such as Ayato, Azusa and Kou. However, brothers such as Laito, Kanato and Reiji present a more twisted version of 'reward' - such as Laito forcing himself on Yui [in basically every chapter let's be real] or Kanato wanting to turn Yui into a wax corpse - but that's heavily due to their response to their trauma.
You're also right about Yui being easily 'trained' via Operant Conditioning. However, I think this is a precaution - a means to demonstrate complete and utter control - and like I've mentioned with Reiji, he spares no time in enforcing that; meaning that he's likely done this hundreds of times before (and most likely so have the others). In other words, the Operant Conditioning may just be a standard routine among the brothers. I do like your interpretation that they're doing this so that Yui can avoid their punishments - it definitely puts them in a more sentimental light (and I appreciate that you've read it like this). For characters like Subaru, Shuu, Ayato (and even Kanato) I can definitely see this interpretation - as punishing Yui is more trouble than it's worth; they want her to behave and do exactly as they want.
However, for characters like Reiji and Laito, they particularly enjoy pushing Yui around, they enjoy making her slip up so they can punish her. I see this as more of a demonstration of power and control - as well as a boost to their ego. Reiji and Laito are two characters that lacked control and authority in their childhood - implying that their actions towards Yui are possibly a way to achieve that. For characters such as these, I don't belive that they want Yui to avoid pain in the beginning. Throughout the mid-way section and the end of their respective routes, they don't delight in Yui's pain - it's only in the beginning, and I think this is due to their trauma-response. In other words, the abused become the abuser - they delight in Yui's pain because she feels a physical manifestation of their mental/emotional pain. It's sadism at its most ironic.
So yes, I agree with you on that front - I don't think they see Yui's 'training' in a pet-like way - instead I believe it's a fail-safe. It's a way for each brother to be in complete control, while having the security that Yui can't escape, act out or leave them. At the end of the day, each brother values and desires affection and acceptance - using this form of control over Yui guarantees that. It's a twisted way for them to garner the emotional security they need.
However, I don't believe that any of the brothers use Operant Conditioning to actively or purposefully make Yui a masochist. From what I know, researched and from my own experiences, no one is born a sadist or a masochist. Instead, I believe it to be a learned response. Sadism and masochism are responses to pain - I don't believe people are intrinsically born to enjoy pain - it's called 'pain' for a reason. However, and this is drawn upon my own experiences, I believe that sadism and masochism arise from the exposure to suffering.
If you're exposed to constant and unyielding pain, there's only a small selection of responses to choose from. You can't run from it, you can't hide from it - fighting it only makes it worse - therefore, the only way to deal with the relenting pain is to accept it, tolerate it...enjoy it. I touch on this in my MB analysis regarding Azusa and Yui (and how Azusa is a "dark parallel" to Yui regarding this exact topic). Since the female brain doesn't full mature until mid-twenties, I can afford to take some liberties regarding Yui.
When you're exposed to heavy abuse and physical abuse as a child, your brain does funny things. Now, I'm only talking from my own experiences - so any other views on this are greatly appreciated. But like I said, when you're exposed to pain at a young age, your brain tries to rationalise it and find an effective response. If it's constant, unyielding and inescapable, you can either fight it - and in some cases, make it worse - or you can accept it. When you're a child, or a young adult, you're constantly told the message that you should enjoy life; that you have nothing to sad about or anything worth crying over. Notice how I used the word: enjoy. This is intentional because this is where the brain begins to warp. So, instead of crying about the pain, you instead learn to see the positives - that whoever's inflicting the pain is giving you 'special treatment' for example. This is what we see with Azusa and his attachment to Justin.
People inflict pain because they want to see you suffer; from how my brain responded to that, the only way to combat that is to enjoy it. Once the pain's over - or it's finally stopped for good - that sentiment doesn't go away; instead it finds something to latch onto. Think of your brain as one big circuit board, and the masochism as a cord. Once the pain stops for an extensive period, that cord becomes unplugged - and another cord is plugged in its place; the circuit board fills up. The masochism is still there, the cord hasn't disappeared; it's dangling, and it needs something to latch onto. Once you grow older, your brain develops more plugs, more sockets for different cords and branches that need to be filled in - one of those plugs is sexuality. Now obviously, sadism and masochism aren't intrinsically sexual, they are both sexual and non-sexual: the sexual being self-explanatory and the non-sexual being oriented around amusement - again, it's irony being displayed in its most painful form. But I digress, once sexuality opens itself up to the brain - like with Yui - the unplugged cord of masochism has a socket to wire itself into.
The point I'm getting at is that I believe masochism - and Yui's masochism - to be a trauma-response. It acts as a way for her to 'deal' with the pain - however, since her brain is underdeveloped, her mentality surrounding it warps and distorts. The line between pain and pleasure does become blurred. In other words, it can be implied that Yui's masochism (and Azusa's) are coping mechanisms that have become warped and distorted over time.
Note that Yui never starts the game(s) as a masochist. If anything, she hates the pain. Yet by the end of the game, she is a masochist. She's masochistic due to the severe mental stress she's under and the vile abuse she endures - and her brain can't revert back due to the extent of the distortion. Routes such as Reiji's and Laito's hinge on Yui's mentality unravelling; becoming fragile and mouldable - this is how the masochism is able to infiltrate, it's a coping mechanism (but instead of being able to abandon it, it's latched onto another part of her brain, her sexuality).
Furthermore, when the brothers refer to Yui as a masochist, it could be implied to be an exaggeration, a way to riddle Yui's mind with stress, denial and self-doubt. In other words, it could be implied that they're gaslighting her to sow doubt and make her more susceptible to their mental manipulation. Additionally, it could be implied that they're enforcing masochism onto Yui so that they can enact their own sadism onto her without any complications - to make her a 'willing victim' if you will. In essence, the brothers could call Yui a masochist in order to imprint their own views and needs onto her - sadism and masochism is the giving and receiving of pain. It can be implied that the brothers' sadistic tendencies act as an outlet for their trauma; they need a recipient to take the pain they're giving - that being Yui. However, the brothers' sadism and Yui's masochism doesn't match up.
The brothers begin their routes revelling in Yui's pain, yet they don't end their routes with the same sentiment. Yui, however, starts the routes trying to escape the pain, only to yield to it - and by the end of the route, revel in it. And I'm not just strictly talking about her own pain either. In Reiji's HDB manservant ending, we see Yui delight in the pain and subservience of others. She gains control over Reiji, in which she belittles and emasculates him, all while playing the role of 'Cordelia' - and in Kanato's HDB manservant ending, we see Yui brutally (and sadistically) murders the other brothers, revelling in the affection she believes she'll get because of it. In essence, sadism and masochism are learned responses or coping-mechanisms (gone wrong), but that's just my opinion.
You're also right, Reiji isn't as screwed up as the triplets, and he does think out his every move - painstakingly so. The only other brother I'd say who comes close is Laito,since they're both highly manipulative and predominately enforce Operant Conditioning - with Reiji’s focus being on control and Laito's being on sex. When Yui behaves, they each reward her in non-material ways - for Laito, it's sex or physical affection, and for Reiji, it's remedies when Yui's sick, her favourite meals etc. What they both 'reward' Yui with is their vulnerability. In other words, manipulative characters like Reiji, Laito, Ruki and Carla enforce Operative Conditioning to gain the comfort of control; only once that boundary is established do they 'mellow'. In other words, the need for punishment and reward is a basis wherein the brothers can build a relationship that they can thrive in.

This is not weird omg no one ever asks me about dialovers you need to understand I was into VNs including otome before I was into any anime (including bsd) and diabolik lovers is my longest term obsession that isn't music 💜🙏 This is mostly going to involve things from the games (because the anime was basically silly fanservice that barely scratches the surface for anyone) but I'll leave out drama cd stuff because I would actually need to go refresh myself on those.

Anyone not familiar with the series who decides to continue pls be aware of these warnings and take care of yourself. Also pls understand everything I say is in terms of the series and setting. Absolutely nothing that happens in these games would make any of these characters redeemable irl. This is fiction and a trashfire Do-S fetish franchise. Trauma doesn't excuse abuse. I don't condone any of the bad behavior from this series irl. (Sorry since this isn't my sideblog I feel I need to explain this so ppl don't come at me thinking I'm excusing stuff for reals with this little analysis)
Also this is probably going to have spelling mistakes and horrific formatting because I wrote it on mobile so my bad on that too.
This was so hard to answer because so many of them have serious trauma, maladaptive coping mechanisms, and large amounts of growth throughout the various sequels. I think you could make the logical argument of depth for every single character. The Sakamaki triplets are def the most tragic of the first two games in this regard though (maybe only rivaled by the Tsukinami brothers once we get to Dark Fate because of the whole being the sole survivors of genocide thing)
But as a whole I think Carla and Shin deal with their predicaments in a more outwardly focused manner (which makes sense given their stories and roles as antagonists in their debut game) so I don't think I could objectively call them the deepest esp Carla even though he is my fave.
So out of the Sakamaki triplets I am going to go with Laito. Shocking I know because I have said before he is the one I am the most terrified of. But hear me out.
(I'm using HBD (haunted dark bridal) to refer to the first game, and MB (more blood) to refer to the second game going forward)
His first route in hdb is a stomach twisting mess of isolation, noncon, gaslighting and victim blaming. It is also the only route in that game where Yui tries to kill herself, which imo is really notable. Tbh the first time I played it I was so deeply uncomfortable I didn't really give his character a lot of thought. During replays and some of his drama cds though it def changed my perspective of him (in terms of the deepness of his character, not my dislike of him)
Here are my arguments in topical format because I don't really want to go through and do the research needed to refresh myself and make this chronological. Also if I am mistaken with anything I've paraphrased my bad it's because this isn't a real essay more of a rant that you might regret reading lol.
- Cordelia
We can't go into the rest of my arguments without the facts. He was groomed by his mother and experienced a childhood of CSA at her hands. And he is absolutely confused and suffering when he has his flashbacks. Yes he kills her with the other two triplets, but that didn't actually solve anything for him internally, and I think it is a pretty clear-cut argument that his negative traits and behaviors can be linked back to his unresolved trauma from this. He even says it himself too when he tries to project onto Yui and claim her hatred for him must be the same as his for Cordelia (though unnamed in his quote im pretty sure) that a hatred can run so deep that even killing the person won't relieve the burning. The other ironic part of this is that in the dialovers universe it is explained multiple times that the highest act of love for a vampire is murder. So. Every LI (Reiji, Laito, Ayato, Kanato) that committed matricide out of their hatred probably has some deeper more complex feelings going on than that. (You could also argue maybe a similar thing about Carla and patricide as well though he is Founder/First Blood not vampire. But he is more open about his reasoning and feelings around his parents and why he did what he did imo)
- His disdain of purity (plot twist. It's jealousy).
We repeatedly see him mock both Yui's purity and religiosity. He is arguably the worst out of all of the LIs when it comes to this topic, and hits this point right out the gate when he assaults her in the abandoned church. It is simultaneously a logical and also weird choice on his part to continue on with when you realize how unwavering her faith actually is, and if you do other routes before this one you are already coming in realizing no matter how much she "breaks", "changes", or "gives in" in other ways, she never actually abandons her faith completely even in future games when she is living quite literally in the demon world. Even in routes where she becomes a vampire she doesn't eschew God. However it is canon that she is a devout Catholic and that she originally wanted to be a nun (before the events of the game screw that up for her), so it is still relevant.
While it may have started as a way to try and break her down, it really becomes more and more clear through his routes that like a bunch of his other behaviors, he is projecting his own struggles onto Yui.
He is jealous of her purity, so he attacks it. He is jealous of her faith, so he attacks it. He is jealous of her unwavering belief in goodness and in humanity, so he just. keeps. attacking. it. Because seeing it exist in front of him hurts, but especially early on he isn't aware of his own emotions or why he acts the way he does. So many things in his routes and his monologues highlight the fact that Laito views himself as permanently dirtied by his past, and this behavior is tied to that.
- His inability to identify his feelings from his fake front and his use of sex to maladaptively deal with his trauma.
** I wrote way too much on this and decide nvm I think even if someone has only seen the anime his hypersexuality probably speaks for itself. Plus this is getting so long 😔**
-His lack of control in MB and "forced" behavior. His confusion over his own tears near the end of HDB.
There are various instances (esp in MB where his characterization is wildly different and desperate compared to HDB) where we see his mask start to crack, or realize that his mask wasn't actually very good to begin with and the exhaustion from the continous abuse in his routes has caused both Yui (and us as the reader) to fall for his bullshit more easily. He plays the part of a pervert, but Shu (who arguably is a massive pervert) calls him out in MB for being a phony. His behavior in MB makes him come across as desperate and out of control, as opposed to his calculated sadism in HDB. This all comes back to his inner turmoil, unresolved feelings, and trauma and we slowly unpeal those layers through the rest of the series.
I think at baseline it is really easy to dismiss Laito. I did from the beginning too. Plus he never stops calling Yui Bitch-chan no matter how many sequels he gets 🤦♂️ But that is just falling for his fake front, exactly what he wants you to do because then he can just keep carrying on without dealing with his bs and let off steam temporarily in the process. But under the surface there is a lot more going on. And he definitely is a character that has an insane amount of depth.
Sorry for the multi part novel. I don't even like him as an LI even in this series. But for a series with so many inconsistencies, retcons across games, and questionable writing choices, they did a good job with his character. I just need him to stay far away from both me and Yui 🥲 Imagine if you had asked me something that prompted me to talk about my faves 💀💀💀

whoa, she launched!
happy launch day, kayo! she's my little pookie i love her so much that i bully her constantly through the narrative
in honor of today, i'll be dumping some REALLY old doodles (really old = two-three months ago) when i started working on her! unlike most of my dumps, i'll be describing and giving more context to the drawings! think of it as a little timeline of her development :D

drawing 1: our earliest kayo?!
this was dated january 17 2023. yeah. 2023. this year.
geez, was that really my art style just three months ago?
yes, unfortunately. though i'll attribute the fact that kayo looks 12 here mostly to the fact that i was still getting used to using an ipad to draw--still, you can really see that i had her design 90% down from the start. just changed her parting a little and removed the flower accessory + little ombre(?) in her hair.
at first, she was going to be a LOT closer to yui, but then if she was, she would've intervened as early as more blood, which was not something i was aiming for. plus, isn't it more fun thinking that she barely knows her (and yet pulls the stunt of taking her place for her sake... what a loser)
also, at first, she was going to just be straight up meaner for no reason. like literally just the worst person you can think of, but a problem with that is that she would definitely get killed if she was just horrible and toxic. plus, that was kind of boring on my end as well, so she kind of turned into a meowmeow.
adding to the old concept though, all her endings were supposed to be bad endings! then i scrapped that really quickly when i changed her personality...

same day as the first drawing... yeouch.
as you can see, her hair was supposed to be a lot neater--and flatter--as a hunter. the cross clip is a lot smaller, and her palette was all over the place. like come on, why is her coat pink??
speaking of which, i changed hunter kayo to being a little messier than her old version because of a change in personality. this proto-hunter kayo still feels emotions very well. in fact, even more intensely than bride kayo. she's constantly angry--for what she went through as a young girl, for losing her eye--just a lot of things.
kind of funny that her personality pulled a 180 lawl
drawing 3: early outfit dump
i made the file for this drawing on january 19, but i believe i updated it as late as early march.
as you can see, it's really just outfit concepts. most of them are the same as the current outfit concept art--thanks to, well, me updating this file until march. you might be familiar with the three on the right, and the lost eden + dark fate outfit is practically the same as the one i posted. the hdb/mb outfit changed the most out of those three: i suctioned it to kayo's body to emphasize her figure more lol (i am the biggest kayo simp in the end)
as for the first two, you can see they were labelled for chaos lineage and lunatic parade! the chaos lineage outfit is probably already like 90% down for me, but the lunatic parade one is peculiar because, well, i scrapped it entirely. it's a cute outfit, for sure, but i didn't think it was kayo's style in the end. perhaps it might get the same hdb/mb outfit treatment and get tweaked to match her better, but i think her current lunatic parade design is solid!

this was dated feb 25!
honestly, this is still really good, and i'm still planning on adding this scenario to laito's route. it's just that, once again, kayo is suffering from the bug-eyed twelve year old syndrome i was going through since january. plus i was (still am) bad at drawing men, so laito kind of came out looking like a really strange looking lady lol. it's so embarrassing i even had to crop it out.
drawing(s) 5: whoa sailor outfits?!
i actually drew this just two weeks after the last one--march 10th! you can clearly see my art style shifting at this point; i'm starting to think it's the switch from sketching with a soft brush to a hard brush.
this was, if you didn't already guess, in honor of the aquamarine series! of course, there are two: one for the hunter and one for the bride!
i have this running theme of "what would reiji (biggest discreet pervert) make bride kayo wear?" and that man loves his kayo legs, so naturally she had to wear thigh highs and an awkwardly short skirt. at least hunter kayo got away with just a crop top.
you can see something hanging on the hunter's waist--it's actually a demon hunting relic!

very recent drawing--dated march 29!
now, hunter kayo actually doesn't attend ryotei at any point of the series. it just so happens that i thought she'd look really hot in the uniform, and ta-da--i made an au! being an au, it's not canon, but i like to think she has a small route with shuu that doesn't really end well as you'd expect.
still, the sight of her kissing him as he bites on her knife is very very cool. keep up the good work hunter!

i love humans with animal features (i.e. not humanoid animals aka what you'd typically think of when you think of furries...) and genshin already devastated me with not only keqing but DEHYA being fake catgirls, so to recover emotionally i naturally made kayo a catgirl. ougggg she's so cute
BONUS 2: a kayoyui route?!
Yes. and it's finished. i just have to make the cgs and post it.
i mostly made it as a kind of exercise in making routes, since, well, i have to start making a lot. it only has five individual scenarios in the dark, manic, and ecstasy section, but it still has a prologue and epilogue. there are also only two endings!
it also serves to delve a bit more into the hunter's character, since bride kayo is the main focus of the blog. let's give her a little love, yknow!! even if she can't give any back...

Your analyzes regarding the boys falling in love before/after Yui are very good and believable, but it's a bit moot since the CDs aren't related to the games storyline. In the games after Yui's death, very few of the boys choose to follow her. We can also give as an example the bad ends of some of the diaboys. If any of them had decided to end Yui's life by their own will or because they were crazy I don't think they would have followed her. A good example of this is the bad endings on Ayato's HDB, MB and CL routes. In the first two games he ends her life himself while in the last one he decides to drink her blood before dying. Also, it's not out of the question that after they lose her they go on with their lives and everything is as before, this of course doesn't rule out having sex with other girls to at least forget the pain for a little bit (Laito does that when he loses Cordelia ).
P.S. This is just my opinion and I do not intend to cause hatred or controversy with this request. I've been following the blog for a long time now and I always love how seriously you delve.
Ummm.... interesting point. Let's check this better. You see all games and CDs have separated storyline. About CDs it's right they have different storyline from the games but at the end they all are official from Rejet. Except of Tokuten CDs we can consider other CDs as canon scenarios. I'm trying to say that Drama CDs are like what if scenarios. So what if Yui dies when she and her lover have a good relationship. So they will follow her after death. So that's why we can say that they really can't leave without her if they really love her.
About games I don't think we can consider HDB endings or even MB endings real love as some diaboys are still fighting with their own emotions. My point is when they really love someone from the bottom of their heart they will follow them even after death. I doubt diaboys really fell in love with Yui in the first games. As you can see they really treated her badly in first games but after MB they really had development so we just can consider their love real when they treat Yui good. That's why after MB you can see how they grow it's also same for Drama CDs.
So my last answer: yes if they really love someone they can't love someone else after them.

BEFORE YOU STOP FOLLOWING ME LISTEN!
Imagine the possibilities! If this was some kind of crossover it would be great because:
1-Yui is rescued from the Sakamakis/Mukamis/Tsukinamis/Kino or manages to escape, manages to make real friends and even has a healthy romantic interest
AND
2-Itadori would have someone who also went through much more than he should have and they would support each other to overcome it.
Going more generally, both Yui and Itadori are very kind people, but they show a lot of character when the situation requires it (the Yui from the Games especially, the one from the anime sucks).
Yui has been used in the games as a "rehabilitation center" for the Vampires (not counting all the physical, psychological and sexual abuse that she has already received from each of them together or separately, especially in routes like the triplets, especially with kanato and Laito), was sent as a Sacrifice and still managed to survive all of them (let's remember that she was the only one out of literally HUNDREDS of girls who were sent to the Sakamaki house who survived) even having the chance to run away and she didn't (depends from which perspective you look at it) because that way no one would have to die, she managed to survive and prevent someone else from dying, that's admirable and I think it fits quite well with Yuji's philosophy, no one should die like a sacrifice or dying nothing more than an object, deprived of a dignified death or life in general, is incredibly unfair and the fact that humans participate in this type of thing makes it even more unfortunate. radable.
If this happened as some kind of Crossover, the chances are that Yui like Itadori would be left for dead to avoid being persecuted, and she is put in the same place as Itadori, I imagine it would be pure FLUFF.
Yui canonically knows how to cook a little of everything, apart from the fact that she usually does household chores, I already see her helping Yuji to train by giving him nutritious food and generally making the process less burdensome.
I can even see a good reason for her to be sought after in the world of JJK, her blood literally gives power to whoever drinks it. Does that apply to wizards? How much? How much does it take to make me stronger? Many people wanted to verify this and Yui would become a very big target, so she had to be hidden and, unfortunately, test if those hypotheses were correct by taking blood from her.
I honestly don't think Yuuji would willingly take Yui's blood if he knew in advance that it is, supposedly he only needs Sukuna's fingers. Why make her suffer for no reason just to do something like that? Does not like. If by fate they give him Yui's blood without telling him and he finds out...
First of all, he apologizes to Yui and second, he lashes out at Satoru. I'll leave the rest to the imagination.
(bonus not so bonus, possibly Sukuna would have no intention of killing her why something like a person who literally makes you stronger with blood would be something only the King of Curses could have, yes he sees Yui as a trophy but at the less won't kill her Is something something?)
This pair would be so adorable, really, even if it stays platonic! We already know that Yuji appreciates his friends very much and if Yui will be part of his circle, he would protect her as much as possible and want her happiness (especially since she knows nothing about Wizardry) and Yui would be willing to do EVERYTHING for this new and healthy friendship. .
Itadori is quite a physical person, so imagine Yui's surprise at receiving affection out of the blue and with no double intent, or Yuuji having someone as dedicated as her (probably also has to do with the fact that he never had a mother figure in his life and Yui It is literally the friend mom).

I know that Yui in most games leaves her Faith in God because of the diaboys, but I doubt very much that she has honestly completely left something that was part of her whole life, but now because of the diaboys she sees it as something bad or What she should be ashamed of, only showing that side of her alone or in hiding, and yes, Yuuji isn't the brightest bulb, but I think he would realize what's up if he catches Yui in one of those moments.
Itadori definitely gives me Atheist vibes who supports faith (more so in Yui's case) so I think he would encourage her to go back to her normal life, Faith included, and try to make her understand that the Sakamakis were just idiots who didn't respect freedom of worship, he does not see Yui's Faith as something silly but as something that is part of her and seeing that it makes her happy, he supports it 100% just as Yui respects his atheism and still prays for him so that be sure (this girl is so cute help)
Although obviously not everything is rosy, Yui above all has many traumas related to people who supposedly loved her and that will cause certain problems, but with a much healthier environment, I think she would have no problem opening up (she has already done so with others diaboys) and definitely after the first season he would definitely seek therapy, and who knows, maybe join Itadori at the Jujutsu academy 👀.
Summary super summarized, it would be two sunny being two sunny.
This ended up being longer than expected, maybe one day I'll make a second part, who knows.

Sayo's Route Masterlist
-Sayo knocks on the door of the Mukami manor. Ruki opens the door
Sayo: Hey, Ruki. How have you been?
Ruki: I’ve been fine, thanks. I didn’t know you were coming over today.
Sayo: It was sort of last minute. Sorry Kou didn’t tell you…
Ruki: It’s fine. Would you like to join us for dinner? I was about to start cooking.
Sayo: Sure, if that’s alright with you.
Ruki: I’m sure the others will be happy you are joining us too. Kou is upstairs in his room, I believe.
Sayo: Thanks! I’m looking forward to your cooking. Do you want help? I’m sure Kou will be fine for a bit if so.
Ruki: Fufu…I’ll be fine, but thank you.
-Sayo goes upstairs and knocks on Kou’s door
Kou: Sayo-chan? Come in~!
-She opens the door. Kou is sitting on his bed, flipping through a magazine
Sayo: Whatcha looking at?
Kou: Wanna see? Come look with me!
-She sits down next to him. She recognizes it as a volume of a fashion magazine Rena used to read
Sayo: My friend liked these ones. She had a period like two years ago when she would buy clothes to try to match some of the outfits she saw in them.
Kou: Haha really? Have you ever done anything like that?
Sayo: Fufu…No, I didn’t have the money for shopping sprees. I was raised in a church, after all.
Kou: Hm? Really?
Sayo: Have I really never told you about that?
Kou: Nope, I never would have guessed.
Sayo: Well, I was rarely there. The nuns had an issue with the way I acted. They tried discipline at first, but it only made me want to rebel more, so they gave up and wanted me out of the way after a while. So I spent all my free time away from the church. I was usually with my friends, but I would also go to places like the library a lot when they were busy.
Kou: So did your parents work there?
Sayo: No, I’m an orphan. I don’t know anything about my parents. Just that they abandoned me there when I was a baby.
Kou: Really…?
Sayo: Yeah. Are you surprised?
Kou: A little…You probably don’t know either, but I met Ruki, Yuma, and Azusa at an orphanage…We aren’t blood related.
Sayo: But they’re still your brothers…The people you choose as your family can be stronger than actual blood ties. I feel the same way about my friends back home.
Kou: Even though you don’t live there anymore?
Sayo: Absolutely. We’ve always been there for each other. That makes them family in my book. Maybe I see it that way because I don’t have parents or anything like that, but still.
-Kou smiles, taking her hand in his
Kou: I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. The four of us probably understand it better than anyone else could…

-There’s a knock on Kou’s bedroom door
Azusa: Kou…Ruki says dinner is ready.
Kou: Coming!
-The two get up to join Azusa

-The three walk down to the dining room. Ruki has already set out the food. He and Yuma are waiting
Yuma: Hey, Sayo. Ruki didn’t say you were coming.
Ruki: You didn’t gather that from the extra seating arrangement?
Yuma: Che…
Sayo: Fufu…Hey, Yuma. Hope you guys don’t mind me crashing dinner.
Yuma: ‘Course not. Ya ask me, you should come ‘round more often.
Kou: Yeah! You aren’t here nearly enough!
Sayo: I am trying to come more often. It’s just a question of when I can sneak away and if someone comes to drag me back…
Ruki: You know you are more than welcome. Just don’t put yourself in danger. I heard you had to stop Ayato and Laito from getting into a fight with Kou the other day.
Sayo: Well, yeah…but that was nothing. I stepped in before it could get dangerous.
Kou: I wouldn’t have let her get hurt in the first place!
Yuma: You better not.
Sayo: Fufu…You sound like a protective older brother, Yuma.
Yuma: Hehe…Ya think?
Kou: You’re mine, so he basically is, you know? You pretty much have three older brothers now~
Azusa: Having a little sister…? Fufu…How nice…
Ruki: Fufu…She is a rather troublesome little sister, isn’t she?

Kou: It’s totally your fault that they’re possessive, Sayo-chan. But it’s adorable how clueless you are~
-He pats her head a few times, but she swats away his hand

Azusa: Fufu…It is cute…
Kou: Right?

i literally want to know your opinion on Ruki because this man is insufferable. he acts like he is mighty and intelligent but ayato is better than him. I will not forget what Ayato do the sacrificial brides because he also deserves a punishment but I know he will accept it ( we only need to see how he reacts to the revelation of all his mother’s bad treatments and how he forgave her quickly and when he said to KarlHeinz that he is going to beat him because of all the things he did to other people = yeah… Ayato thought about all victims of KarlHeinz in the final battle + when he said to Laito he can count on him even if he hates him + how is Ayato in LE …) which means Ayato is deep down humble and is full of regrets and guilt and wants the best for everyone
// Ruki is my second best boy, but the only times he's likeable are in his own routes and in Azusa's LE one; otherwise, he's a terrible person, and saying Ayato is better than Ruki is not an opinion, but a fact.
Nonetheless, it's perfectly reasonable to say that Ayato isn't your cup of tea because you prefer Ruki, who is a more complex character because he's so dual: cold-hearted in general but such a sweetheart in his routes (those are reasons why I love him too).
It was confirmed in an official short story that all Ayato did to the previous sacrificial brides was feed off them, which is understandable given that he needs blood to survive and humans are simply prey to vampires. I'd rather blame those who tortured the brides (I suspect Kanato and Laito) and, especially, the Church for sending them to a house full of demons.
Ayato and Ruki are basically in antithesis. Rejet describes Ayato as "the friendliest and most approachable DO-S," whereas Ruki is described as a fake person, in their first character sheet. Ayato is according to Laito a pure-hearted and upright person, therefore he is very prone to love unconditionally, not only his S/O but also his brothers or even Cordelia, whereas Ruki might be relatively smart and calculated but he is so obsessed with Karlheinz and his plan that he would betray his brothers without thinking twice.
The thing that bothers me the most about Ruki is not that he’s a snake in other routes, but that he never faces consequences. He can ruin someone’s life and nobody would confront him.
Take a look at Ayato’s LE route, when Yui found out Ruki’s and Reiji’s plan, Ruki was there smiling at her while he calmly said that he plotted her man’s downfall and he also added “I suppose now you hold a grudge against me” and Yui was like “Not at all, I do understand that you must have had a hard time accepting that Karlheinz-sama chose him”, which honestly was such a bad move. It feels like Ruki manipulated her to say something so stupid because I'm sure Yui would have called him out for his bad behavior, and it would have been far more Yui-like to say “I understand your motives and I get that you must have had a hard time accepting that Karlheinz-sama chose Ayato-kun, but your actions were still wrong and this could have been solved in another way.” Don’t just let that slide because jealousy will never be an excuse to drive someone to end it all.
Furthermore, is it just me, or does Ruki refuse to accept reality? Or maybe he's just unhealthily delusional.
Ruki regards himself as "someone who has always been afraid of getting his hands dirty"... Are you for real? I'm not even going to mention other routes, but he was a little devil as a child. He abused and humiliated his own servants, and he was likely the cause of a young girl drowning. Are you serious when you say you're afraid of being unfair and dishonest when you've done heartless things since you were a toddler??
He tries so hard to excuse Karl and even convinced himself and his brothers that he gave them a second chance to redeem himself from his atrocious acts, which is not true at all because he used them as mere pawns. I can’t deny that thanks to him all four of them met but at the same time someone should have given them a reality check in order to stop worshipping someone who doesn’t deserve it. “What that man did was incredibly devastating but every cloud has a silver lining because I was able to meet you guys” sounds way more normal than the actual “That man might have tried to redeem himself, that’s why he gave us our lives back” that was written in the route.
The fact that he quickly excused Karl's actions also makes him appear very uncompassionate. When he met his father, who had been turned into a ghoul, he told him that Karlheinz had killed a lot of people in order to turn them into ghouls, but Ruki dismissed that because Karl had given him and his brothers a second chance. He doesn't care about all the victims, or how many people suffered as a result of Karl's selfish actions; he's just glad HE got it better than them.
Going back to Ayato, his hatred towards him is unnecessary and makes Ruki look very puerile.
Even in MB, his job was to tempt Eve, not to degrade Adam. He dared to tell Ayato “That’s why nobody loves you” and got stabbed afterwards, so how dumb can you be to literally provoke a vampire way stronger than you are with something that triggers him?? Ruki knew exactly what he was doing, he was aware Ayato was insecure about not finding someone to love him and the fact he used his insecurities against him is pathetic.
I also don’t understand why he holds such a grudge against Ayato when he did nothing wrong to him. I understand that he might find him annoying since the feeling is mutual but a truly smart person would ignore such people rather than making matters worse. Ruki acts as if Ayato is the source of all his misfortune, even though he had no idea who Ruki was before MB, lol.
I'm sure if he apologized or at the very least, showed some —empathy—, fewer people would dislike him. Even Reiji, who’s an envious and proud individual, regretted what he did to Shu and Yuma at some point because he knew it was wrong but Ruki absolutely never felt any sort of guilt for what he told and did to Ayato, even though Ayato was visibly worried for him when he fainted in CL.
I know this fandom likes to portray Laito as the most cruel Diaboy, but I think Ruki takes the cake. It’s undeniable that Laito harmed many people, but unlike Ruki, he was actually shown remorseful about it. Sometimes I even wonder how would Ruki react to an antagonist as insufferable as he is in other routes. I seriously doubt he'd handle well getting a taste of his own medicine.

(and i should i get to play any game routes featuring him, imma probably die on the spot--)

Diabolik Lovers: Haunted Dark Bridal Part 1 - Sakamaki Ayato Route
Just to start off, I watched a bit of the Diabolik Lovers anime and kinda liked it but also felt it was a bit weird, so I thought I would try out the game instead! I really love the art, so I just had to try the story again, especially since all the guys are hot haha. Btw, since the game is in Japanese, I have been reading it with a translation on the side haha. I try to read it with my own skills but some things are just too hard haha. Anyway, man, this feels like a horror game for the poor girl lmao. Not only does Yui get abandoned by her father for "her sake" but she's told to go to a haunted house to see some relatives that will take care of her?? I wonder if the dad is on this, like why couldn't he take her along and why is she being sent to these suspicious vampire men? OMG, I was like is Ayato's VA who I think it is, and of course it is Midorikawa Hikaru!! I love him already. Lmao I was wondering what "chichinashi" was when Ayato referred to her as that but it actually means titless🤣 He's such an ass to keep repeating that she has no breasts lol. Laito just licked Yui?? Omggg lol. Anyway, I forgot about Laito always referring to her as bitch-chan, so now I'm annoyed with him but also dead at how silly it sounds😂 Omg Kanato's appearance is legit terrifying. His eyes look so soulless, I am scared.
AHHH, I heard about the binaural audio or dummy head microphone thing about this game so I've been trying it out with earphones and I felt so violated with the licking noises LOL. Kanato is so creepy, he makes me so scared lmao😂 The way he talked to his teddy bear? Legit horrifying🥲 Ummm, did Reiji just say it's okay to cook Yui? Plz. I mean, Reiji is hot and if he says he'll whip Yui for not explaining why she's here... I'm in for it😂 I'm sorry, I'm trash too😂 Anyway, Yui has some spunk even though she's even more terrified after discovering that they're vampires. I felt so bad for her when she tried to run away but got caught and then had her mobile phone broken by Subaru. I think the saddest thing is that her dad really meant to leave her here (according to Shuu). So...we have to pick who she'll give her blood to and that's the route we'll end up on? Well, Ayato it is! I am terrified of Kanato saying he'll cut Yui up if we don't pick him, and I don't know what we'll regret about not choosing Laito but from my perspective, Ayato seems the most normal. I hope he is anyway... Well, glad to see Shuu tell them that they're not allowed to kill Yui because of whoever in the church that is related to this?🥲 Lol at Ayato teasing Yui for being scared of the lights going out and thinking a ghost would come out. He refers to himself as Ayato-sama to her hahaha, I guess he does just view her as food.. On one hand, I feel very sorry for Yui because Ayato biting her must hurt, but on the other hand, I cannot resist Midorikawa Hikaru's voice so yes pls. Ooh I didn't realise that they're not proper routes but more like short events or scenarios? Interesting. I legit can't. Well, I thought Ayato was just going to play a nice prank where he scares Yui with a wax doll but omg when he tried to drip wax on her body so she can become a wax doll too, like dude hold up please. LMAO when Ayato stole Yui's notebook to try and force her to go home so he can drink her blood, and she distracts him by saying there's a big breasts beauty in the hallway, and he even believes it enough that Yui gets her notebook back🤣🤣🤣 At least he's got the decency to take her back after sucking so much blood from her, but I'm seriously lowering my standards for Ayato aren't I?🤣 Ayato licking the wound on Yui's knee so that none of her blood gets wasted was nicee, lmao when he tried to move her skirt out of the way and lick her thighs because he was "bored" of her knee🤣 Omg, what did he use on Yui to make her burn up and feel light headed! Anyway, I guess I should be throwing all my morals out for this game because dang, when he kissed her cheeks and asked if it felt good, I swooned🤣 OMG BINAURAL AUDIO IS SO DANGEROUS. Ayato whispering in my ear saying he can't hold back is not what I was expecting, omg, my heart. Nice to know how interested he is in Yui now though haha. The kisses omgggg!! I mean yeah, this game is very iffy when it comes to consent and toxic men but I find it very refreshing hahaha. I mean, I can't resist Ayato saying he'll take all of Yui's first times and I love how unrelenting he was when it came to teasing her with kisses lol. Lmao when Yui said should she act like she dislikes him drinking her blood if that's what makes him happy🤣 Yui really is too sweet and naive lol. The moment Ayato took the dog collar off the dog, I knew he was going to put it on Yui and tell her to be his dog lmao. I lovee the kitchen scene!! It was so cute how he kept kissing her and kept wanting her attention when she was cooking lmao. One of the rare times he's actually cute and honest, and omgg Ayato's favourite food is takoyaki! I approve. Loll when he bit another girl just because he wanted to see Yui's reaction. Honestly, even though we know this relationship is toxic, I admit that the thought of Ayato going to another girl for blood made me sad too. OMG IT'S THE THING OF NIGHTMARES! Legit wanted to freak out with that sideways pose Kanato makes, it's so creepy omg. Okay, it's nuts but I love it. Binaural audio of Midorikawa Hikaru saying "you belong to me/you're mine" is just the besttt👌👌👌 My heart omg. Ohhh dangg, they actually did it omggg?! Lmao when he was holding himself back from drinking her blood because she's weak right now so he poured honey on her instead and started licking her lmao. Ayato was so mean when he handcuffed her and left her in a dark underground sewer all by herself for a while! She would be relieved and happy to see anyone after that! WOW, what a jerk LMAO, I legit laughed (I’m sorry) when Ayato pushed Yui into the lake because she was focused on looking for shooting stars and wasn't giving him enough attention, what a guy man. Honestly, it's pretty hilarious how jealous Ayato can get, I do feel bad for Yui but it is cute in its own way. Does Yui have Cordelia's heart or something? Is that why Ayato thinks their blood tastes the same? Just when you think Ayato is nice, he gets a bit more nuts and starts using a knife to slowly cut her for blood because biting her apparently isn't as exciting anymore lolll.
Well, the first ending is rather tame. How interesting that Richter was the one who put Cordelia's heart into Yui. Whether he did that because he wanted Cordelia to live on somehow or because he wanted to spite Ayato's father, the vampire king or whatever, who knows I guess. Does Richter have a route though? I like him, well his face😅 Dang, that after story with Yui wanting Ayato to bite her everywhere and even wanting him to bite her ring finger so that his mark will always be there. Lmao that they were doing that in the lounge ignoring everyone around them haha! Lolll when she asked Laito for recommendations for presents to give to a guy and he's like their girlfriend's underwear, this wild man🤣 On the other hand, it's nice to see how concerned and worried Ayato is running around looking for Yui. Honestly, I'm sure Yui could just say she went shopping and he wouldn't even realise it's for his birthday lol, but I guess drama is drama. I can't even blame Ayato for getting annoyed considering his personality alongside Laito just constantly causing trouble lol. I wanted to tear up when Yui bit her own finger not wanting the mark of her being his to fade. OMG, Ayato actually apologised to Yui and kissed her finger for misunderstanding her when she was just trying her best to give him a surprise birthday present. That's so cute, really didn't expect the apology haha! It is illegal for Ayato to blush!! He's so cute when he blushes!! So adorable to see how he happy he was to receive the Ruby earring from Yui. Oh, and a man that's willing to eat a smashed up cake that fell on the floor for you is a 10/10! He may be toxic but he's such a sweet guy when it counts! Well transferring cake mouth-to-mouth certainly sounds hot! I approve. The cake probably won't really taste that good though haha. Okay, the sadistic ending was very not nice lol! He killed all the vampires and Yui has basically become his doll, yeah... I guess the other one isn't any better hahah. It broke my heart to see the guys try and take advantage of Yui and suck her blood when Ayato was gone, I felt so bad for her. I felt so relieved for her when Ayato came back, and I honestly loved how angry he was at the guys and how protective he was over her. Considering how he can be, him disinfecting her body with his kisses and then hugging her when she was scared was sweet.
Overall, Ayato was better than I thought he would be! Yeah, he was crazy possessive at times (most of the time) and he doesn't listen to Yui when she says she's anemic and needs rest, but he's also very gentle when he wants to be. I loved it when he hugged her to reassure her that he's the one with her in the heaven scenario and when he apologised to her after misunderstanding her on his birthday?? Such improvement, I wanted to cry. But yeah, then there's times he'll push her into the lake because she's not giving him the attention he wants lmao. It's such a rollercoaster, I love it. It's even better that he's voiced by Midorikawa Hikaru because that instantly makes Ayato 1000x better hahaha, I just love how sensually he talks into your ear with the binaural audio haha! Anyway, Ayato was cuter than expected, and I guess you'll like him if you like men who are possessive and a bit childish in that aspect of you needing to give him all your attention all the time lol. I’m definitely all in on this ride of Diabolik Lovers. It’s so rare to find men so unapologetically toxic LOL. Every now and then I just need this toxicity injected into my veins HAHA.

I was reading some translations of Carnelian Blood and I loved Carnelian's character, the guy is a "calamity" (that's what Karlheinz called him) who is destined to destroy the Makai during a red moon. Unfortunately, Rejet hasn't revealed any more information but I was wondering how all your OCs (Yuuki, Yuki, Skye, Rose, Callista and so on) would react to a villain like Carnelian? Would they do anything to try and stop him, what would they think of such a threat?
I can totally imagine Burai, Karlheinz and Ajax making an alliance to kill him and it would be fucking epic! Even Alrick could join his annoying nephews for once lol.
No no, not weird at all. Honestly, I should really look more into Carnelian Blood - since it is in the DL Universe canon. Please feel free to ask me things like this - cause I love to world build.
Let's see... so, how would the OCs react to a villain of calamity? Hmm... you know that is a good question. I know I have talked about there being 'war' and such - but never really in great detail on how the OCs handle that.

Let's start with Tormented Reverie: Yuuki and Yuki. Both of them are really tied up in their Diaboy's story. So, they would only care as much Kanato or Laito would. Which, in looking at the events of DARK FATE, means that the two of them do raise up to the challenge when needing to. I think that Yuuki would be a total damsel in distress - she would no doubt be captured by this guy and Kanato would need to save her. Yuki on the other hand, I think this is where his power would awaken - making this actually a perfect thing to happen in his storyline. I can see Laito needing to be saved, and Yuki would be able to do that.

Next, Excruciating Duplicity: Skye, Callista, and Rose. Easily enough, Skye and Rose will be with their respected Kings doing their best. I know Rose cannot fight, her role would solely be to sit and wait for Burai to return. I think it would be her influence that finally leads him to act with the other King - rather than on his own. Skye I am on the fence about this - part of me thinks he can fight, or at least be somewhat helpful. Then the other side of me is thinking he wouldn't want to put his life in danger like that. Ultimately, I think he would defend Eden Castle. While Karlheinz is on the battlefield, Skye would defend his home.
In this universe, I can 100% see the Kings all having to team up! I love the idea of Burai needing convincing - especially when it comes to Ajax (also thank you for including him - it means a lot when my side characters are mentioned!). I also think that this battle of calamity might actually be the catalyst for the end of the great Kings. I can think of no better way for the next generation to take over than with the current Kings dying to save the Makai.
Callista is a very different case from everyone else. She is not only Shu's intended - and probable wife by that point, but she is also a princess of the Adler Kingdom. Calli is responsibilities that no other OC has - and because of that, I can see her protecting her people. While not explicitly on the battlefield, Calli would be tending to the wounded and helping with evacuations. Her guards and husband would stress she stay home - but she would not listen.
Now, in her other story route- the one with Reiji, I can see her staying locked away in the castle. Reiji is not the type to go out and fight, and Callista would want to stay with him. That being the case, they are not cowering in fear - rather the two are strategizing and organizing the armies together. Their family starts quite early, so, Calli would probably have a baby to take care of as well.

While you didn't say them specifically I would like to touch really fast into the Tormented Reverie: Another Day Dream era. Say this person was someone that Karlheinz had warned his successor (more than likely Shu) about and it did not end up happening until centuries later. I can see all of the Sakamaki brothers, now grown, teaming up to take down this foe. I do not foresee it being easy - but I also don't think any of them would die.
Now, if it were to happen in the weird in-between time, where the children were not kids anymore but also had no power - I know that Kanaye and Edward (@silencieux-aube) would be out there fighting. Yukio would no doubt leave, taking Silas to the human world - literally running from their problems. Rini would be locked up with a legion of defenders, or she would be nowhere near it all - as in her young adult life she leave with Spencer and Oliver (@pureblood-prey & @first-blood-moon) to go find herself in the world.

In the far far-off future... there is another such story. While it has no title, the new generation - the Kanuki Grandchildren - exists. If this calamity presents itself after Kanaye has taken the throne, he will defend the Makai both behind and on the front lines. Edward, being his right-hand man, would be at his side - prioritizing the kingdom and Kanaye's life. This would no doubt be during the time of his first two children, Jesse and Marcus. Neither of which would be allowed on the battlefield - Kanaye wants them and Isabella to stay safe. Help those at home, and leave the fighting to him.
Should it happen later in their lives, after those two are grown and they have the twins Kai and Kaleb - I can see that being the end of Kanaye. At that point, he would have been King for centuries, and while not old and frail - peace will still make people weak. The twins are born and raised in the Human World (USA) - so Kanaye has long since left matters in the Makai to Edward.
