Heyo! I heard you were open for requests, so I thought if I can ask for a fluffly prompt of 18? Like Jon kent x batsis? ( I noticed this dude don't get much love at all.) Maybe it has like a tiny (big) crush on batsis, and accidentally ends up following her. But don't rush your self, I know you got alot to do. I'll wait! Ty! (This is alot of reading, sorry.)
Pairing: Jon Kent x Fem!reader
Prompts: Prompt list 18-“Care to explain why you’ve been following me for 6 blocks?” (Apparently “care to explain *inster text here*” is a common prompt theme on my list)
Summary: Jon Kent meets the one and only batsis (that’s you) and being the idiot he is, falls madly in love... naturally.
A/n: Ok so this took a while and i didn’t like where it was going for a while but after some editing i actually really like how this turned out! (Also sorry this took so long life hit me like bitch this past week) And Jon and the reader are about 15 16 ish here which makes damian 19ish. Masterlist
Word count: 1.5k it’s not a super long thing but i’m pretty pleased with that number
Code: y/n=your name

Not So Super Stelthy
Jon Kent floated in a small circle about 4 feet above the ground, trying his best not to fall asleep. He had been watching Damian watch security footage on the batcomputer for 30 minutes and he was bored out of his mind.
“What are you even looking for?” Jon asked, letting himself land and walking over to the computer.
“Proof.” Damian replied, too focused on the tape to give more than a one word answer.
“Right, of course the proof,” Jon nodded his head before pausing awkwardly.
Damian sighed and paused the video. “You have no idea what i’m talking about.”
“Nope.”
“And you’re extremely bored.”
“Yup.” Jon rocked back on his heels, dragging out the Y sound.
“Fine then, you can look around the cave but don’t touch anything. Got it?” Damin said sternly, knowing that if he didn’t give Jon something to do he'd start asking questions nonstop.
“Really! I can go explore by myself!” He exclaimed, instantly more energetic. “I promise i won’t break anything!” He called flying swiftly out of the room before Damian could change his mind.
He walked down a random hallway looking at the various souvenirs on the walls. He heard some grunting and the sound metal against metal coming from a room down the hall. He made his way toward the sound using his super hearing to try and figure out who it was.
“That was so not fair!” An unknown female voice exclaimed.
“Technically that’s not stated in the rules.” a smug voice shot back. Jon recognized it to be Tim’s but he still didn’t know who the other person was. He kept walking towards the sound until he found a large open room with weapons on the walls and mats on the floor.
In the middle of the room he saw two people holding metal bow staffs and walking around each other.
“Well it was implied.” The girl said before charging Tim. She swung at his left but he blocked and twirled the bow staff around to hit her in the side. She stumbled back but quickly regained her balance and came at him again, this time faking a hit to the right before sweeping his legs out from under him so he landed on his back. His staff rolled away and it was very clear that he had lost that fight.
“YES!” The girl cheered “I win and you owe me 20 bucks.” She boasted in a sing-song voice, reaching out her hand to help Tim up.
“Yeah yeah I get it.” Tim grabbed her hand and hoisted himself up sounding annoyed at his defeat. The girl turned around and walked towards the bench where a plastic half empty water bottle sat. That was when Jon saw her face for the first time, that was also when she noticed Jon.
“Oh hey Superboy.” She said, sounding slightly confused as to why the Metropolis hero would be in the batcave.
“Jon?” Tim asked, turning towards him. “What are you doing here?” He smiled and walked over to rest his elbow on the girl's shoulder.
“Hi sorry i didn’t mean to bother you I was just uh exploring.” Jon said, semi awkwardly. “Damian’s doing some research on the computer and I guess he didn’t want me distracting him.” He pointed sheepishly towards the room where Damian was still watching security tapes.
The girl laughed and shrugged Tims arm away. “Well definitely don’t take that personally. Damian’s not really one for conversation. I’m y/n by the way.”
He remembered Damian mentioning her here and there but he’d never met her before. “I’m Jon, but you know that already.”
She laughed again which made him smile. “Well Jon it’s nice to meet you.”
“There you are.” Damian rounded the corner. “I have the proof but we need to hurry if we’re going to get there in time.”
“You better get going before Damian pulls a kryptonite katana on you.” y/n joked waving over at the very grumpy looking teenager.
“Yeah,” Jon laughed. “Wait? Does he really have one of those?” his smile was replaced with slight concern for his own safety.
“Superboy. Let’s go.” Damian sounded impatient, although he always sounded like that.
“Sorry i’m coming.” Jon began flying over to him. “Bye y/n!” he called before turning the corner and disappearing.
“Bye Jon.” Y/n leaned on the door frame and watched him fly off, a small smile on her face.
“Umm what was that?” Tim asked a very confused look on his face.
“What was what?” she turned around
“Oh I don't know, maybe the whole ‘oh hi i’m y/n nice to meet you’ thing?”
“Ok I know you don’t talk to people very often but typically when you meet someone new you introduce yourself.”
“Well your starry eyed stare might have been a bit too much.”
“Starry eyed?” she scoffed in response “I was in no way starry eyed.”
“Uh huh sure.” He said in an over-protective-older-brother voice.
“Shut up.” y/n tossed a bow staff to Tim and got into a fighting stance with her own.
༻𖥸༺
After a mission went wrong, Damian demanded Jon train in the cave at least twice a week to make him, in Damians words “Somewhat competent on the field”. That meant Jon would spend more time in the cave and saw more of y/n.
Whenever Jon and y/n got a chance to talk it felt like they’d known each other for their whole lives. They had inside jokes and about 2/3’s of a secrets code memorized. Sometimes they would just sit next to each other, completely comfortable in the silent company. Jon’s heart started to beat faster when she was around and his cheeks would heat up when she smiled at him.
He got distracted whenever she came into the training room which resulted in a very hard kick to the stomach on more than one occasion. One day while Jon was on his way home from the manor, he spotted y/n walking swiftly across a rooftop. He hadn’t seen in the cave that day but Damian said she was at a friends house.
His exact words were “She’s at her friends house studying, now if you’re done being completely in love with my sister can we run the training again?”
Of course Jon responded by saying “I am not in love with her!” but it was clear that Damian didn’t buy that and at this point Jon wasn’t sure he believed it either.
‘What is she doing out?’ he thought while silently ducking behind a nearby billboard. Jon let her get about three rooftops away and used his super senses to keep track of her. She turned left, then left again, then right, then another left, and finally stopped on top of a random building.
Y/n turned to look at the city and let out a sigh. “You know,” she spoke softly with a hint of a smirk in her voice. “For someone with Superpowers you’re shit at staying hidden.”
‘Busted’
“How could you possibly have seen me?” Jon came out from his apparently not so good hiding place and landed a few feet away from her on the roof. “I was in super stealth mode.”
“Well darling Jon i was raised by Batman. Noticing things is kinda, well my thing.” She laughed. “Now, care to explain why you’ve been following me for 6 blocks?”
“W-well i have a perfectly reasonable explanation for that and it is because,” he said slowly trying to come up with a good excuse as to why he’d been following her. The truth was he didn’t know why he’d followed her. Although he had a sneaking suspicion it had to do with his not so small crush.
“It’s because- Hey wait a second you’re not even supposed to be out here.” Jon cut himself off by changing the subject. “Didn’t Batman like, ban you from being a crime fighter?”
“What Batman doesn't know won’t hurt him.” She walked over to him so they were now about 2 feet apart.
“He’s Batman! He knows everything!” Jon exclaimed as if it was obvious.
“Well i’m not going to tell him.” She paused leaning closer to Jon so they were mere inches away from each other. His heart speed up and he felt his cheeks turn pink from how close they were. “Are you going to tell him?”
“N-no?” It sounded more like a question then an answer but it was good enough for y/n.
“Great!” She leaned away again, her smile returning. “Now that i’ve confirmed you won’t be snitching on me, we can go get some food. I am starving and there’s a great taco truck just around the corner that makes the best nachos. That is if you want to?”
“Want to? Yeah i’d love to!” He smiled happily at the idea.
“Perfect, then it’s a date.”

Chapter 5: The Start of Something
Summary:
Arya spends time with the Brotherhood and finds Gendry appealing.
Notes:
So I’ve realized this took me two months to update. I know, it’s been awhile, but I have not abandoned it, just been super busy with real life things. I want to fairly warn you that in the coming chapters there is will be a mix of book and show references, with completely made up story lines by yours truly. We are going to be getting in some really heavy stuff in the next few parts, so be prepared. I also want to clarify Arya’s age in this story. She is 18 and Gendry is 21. I really want to write her experiences growing up without a family during a very vulnerable time in her life...puberty, so we will see a bit of that. I mean, she’s been alone since her father’s execution...so maybe since she was about ten or eleven (in my story anyway) and what she learned were from word of mouth or working women (if you get my drift). Anyway, this intro notes are taking to long, so enjoy the chapter and let me know if you have any questions!!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
The fire crackled bright as Gendry stirred the embers. It needed to be hot in order to cook the rabbits Hot Pie and Lem had prepared. Arya shuffled off to where the horses were stationed after her conversation with Gendry. Their exchange had made Arya see him in a new light. Maybe he wasn’t such an insufferable man after all.
In her last three weeks with this band of men, she had learned more about them then she cared to admit. It hurt to know that in just a weeks’ time, she would be with her mother and brother, no doubt getting ready to marry a man she knew nothing about. Although her first encounter with the men was less then memorable and left her with a hefty bump on her head, the following days on their adventure had turned quite pleasurable.
Now with their mutual understanding for one another, Arya only wished that her time spent with Gendry didn’t mean uncomfortable glares or awkward silence.
If she was being honest, she quite liked her conversation with him.
There were no witty comments or jabs, just pure understanding. For him to open up about such a personal memory had to have been hard. Not even Arya could do such a thing.
It would take her mother days, if not weeks to get Arya to open up about anything that would be bothering her. If it weren’t for Jon, she probably would never tell anyone anything. But with Gendry, she found herself wanting to tell him the most personal things about herself. She wanted to let him know how she got to where she was, or why she was running away in the first place. She wanted him to know about her risky escape from the gold cloaks or her brief encounter with a Faceless Man.
It was odd, that a man she hardly knew had the ability to open up the deepest parts of herself.
Perhaps it was the way his blue eyes could bore into her grey ones, or his easy personality. His wittiness and sense of humor also had a way of bringing her in; but the true reason as to why Arya felt an ease around Gendry was that she understood him and he could understand her. He knew why she couldn’t escape; why she turned back.
It was a comfort to know that maybe, in this vast world of hurt and despair, that Arya found someone that made her feel like she was no longer alone.
“Hey, Arry! The rabbits are ready!” Hot pie yelled from where they were cooking the freshly caught game.
Arya smiled as she heard the new-penned name meant for her.
It was supposed to thwart wandering ears from hearing her true name, but as the weeks progressed and the boys started to use it more than her real name, it just stuck.
It was an improvement to ‘Lady Arya.’
The only one insistent on calling her anything but was Gendry. His ‘milday’ jabs were annoying and uncouth and were meant to rile her up.
“Thank you, Hot Pie.” She grabbed a piece of rabbit from his hands and she took her seat on the log beside Gendry.
“Is Anguy going to eat?” She asked as she watched the archer walk the perimeter of the camp.
Lem shook his head, “He’ll wait ‘til we all fall asleep. Since Beric and Thoros are at the inn, he’s in charge. Gotta make sure the camp is secure.”
Arya nodded as she stuck of piece of rabbit in her mouth to eat.
“How long do you reckon they will be at the inn, this time?” Asked Hot Pie.
Arya looked up from her rabbit and searched the eyes of Lem and Gendry, waiting for an answer. It seems this wasn’t their first time in divulging in cups of ale at the local inn, and Arya was curious to know how often they left their counterpart behind.
Gendry shrugged, “Depends, I guess. Last time they were there for a full two days. If we are lucky, maybe they will stay ‘till tomorrow night. It would be nice to rest for a bit.”
“I can’t argue with you there.” Arya countered, gaining a small smile from Gendry.
She tried to keep her cheeks from flushing, but the point was moot. It would be easier to blame the heat from the fire for the sudden heat to her face, than the sweet smile that Gendry had thrown her way.
“Well she should divulge in the extra ale that we have, since Beric and Thoros are away.” Gendry suddenly said as he stood from the log. He took three big strides to heap of bags and blankets, rummaging through to find a sack of ale. The cool night breeze would have kept it cold, but Arya was sure that its fresh taste was no more.
He shuffled back to the log and uncorked the top of the sack, downing a large gulp. A burp escaped his lungs and a round of laughter erupted from the surrounding group.
“Pass that bag,” Lem grabbed for the sack and took his own swing. He handed it to Hot Pie, who respectfully declined.
Arya was no stranger to ale. In fact, it had become a favorite of hers along her travels. Each inn she had visited had a different tasting ale. Some were quite pleasing, while others tasted like piss, but they all offered her the same effects; the sweet sensation of euphoria. Like most men twice her size, she could get lost in her cups and if she wasn’t careful, she could wind up in a heft predicament. Luckily for her, most kept to themselves, leaving her to experience drunken bliss.
She gladly accepted the sack as it came her way, downing her gulps with ease. One would think she learned to keep her belches in, considering she was a lady, but in the company of men, she could care less who heard the burps that passed her lips.
A bout of laughter erupted from the men around the camp fire as Arya had no qualms about letting out befitting belch for a drunkard. She passed along the sack to Gendry, blushing slightly as his fingertips brushed hers as she handed it off.
“Didn’t know you could drink.” He said as he finished with his second gulp.
A sly smile creeped to her lips, “There’s a lot you don’t know about me.”
“I’m willing to learn.” He said genuinely.
Arya couldn’t help the heat that rose to her cheeks, whether from the effects of the ale or the way Gendry put off his cocky grin. She hated to admit that she was feeling something towards the man. It didn’t feel like lust, for she had lusted for a man at an inn nearly two years prior; no, this felt like something stronger, something much more primal. It scared her to think that she could actually be falling for someone. She was so unused to the feeling; so completely unaware of how it felt, that it terrified her.
She hadn’t spoken more than a few spats with him in her three weeks traveling with the Brotherhood, yet when they have a real conversation about real feelings and real people, she found herself lost in his words. She smiled at the thought but her heart wavered. In just a little over a week she would be sold off to her mother and brother, never to see the Brotherhood, or Gendry again.
Her smiled faltered just bit, but she refused to let anyone see her concerns.
“There’s a lot to learn. I hope you can keep up.”
“Don’t worry about me, mi’lady, I’m a fast learner.” He smiled once more and Arya realized that she was trapped by this mysterious man forever.
Notes:
I want to clarify, the boy she lusted over two years prior was like a silly school girl crush. She hasn’t had any sexual experiences...yet. 😉

Books I read in 2018
* = Re-read Check out past years: 2012, 2013 (skipped), 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Follow me on Goodreads to get these reviews as they happen. 1) You Are Not a Gadget by Jaron Lanier 2) Binti by Nnedi Okorafor 3) Veins of the Earth by Patrick Stewart 4) McGlue by Ottessa Moshfegh  The ending is clear almost from the first page, but you keep reading anyway*. Great stuff. *It's almost as if there is MORE to enjoying a story than being surprised by the ending???? 5) They Shoot Horses, Don't They? by Horace McCoy  Ah yes, the violent and bloody underbelly of....the marathon dance craze??? Marathons that last upward of a MONTH??? Incredulity, if nothing else, keeps you reading right to the end. 6) What Editors Do: The Art, Craft, and Business of Book Editing by Peter Ginna I've no interest in becoming an editor, but as an author I figured there'd be some useful stuff in here. From that perspective I'll say this - writers, even ones who only want to self-publish, would do well to breeze through this to get a better understanding of a process they've been through or want to go through, but also a better understanding of the editors themselves. 7) Taran Wanderer by Lloyd Alexander 8) The High King by Lloyd Alexander 9) The Foundling and Other Tales of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander 10) The Largesse of the Sea Maiden: Stories by Denis Johnson 11) Landmarks by Robert MacFarlane Beautiful stuff, and a great reminder of all sorts of precious sensations to be found out in the world or in your childhood memories. 12) Vacationland: True Stories from Painful Beaches by John Hodgeman I like John Hodgeman in general, but honestly haven't dug any of his books of false facts or the stand-up routines centered around such things. That stuff just feels like someone scatting nonsense (Blood tornado! Deranged millionaire! DOG STORM! Yeah!) to the tune of a particular vibe (the doodles in the margins of your high school notebooks). But it's clear the guy can be a consummate storyteller and so I happily picked up this book of his ostensibly true tales. It's charming, funny, and sincere. Huzzah! I look forward to whatever comes next from Hodge Man. 13) The World of Late Antiquity 150-750 by Peter R.L. Brown  14) The Book of Joan by Lidia Yuknavitch 15) The Luzhin Defense by Vladimir Nabokov, Michael Scammell (Translator) 16) The Only Harmless Great Thing by Brooke Bolander  17) Blindsight by Peter Watts 18) Killing Gravity by Corey J. White  19) How to Thrive in the Next Economy: Designing Tomorrow's World Today by John Thackara 20) Echopraxia by Peter Watts 21) The Colonel by Peter Watts 22) The Devil's Guide to Hollywood: The Screenwriter as God! by Joe Eszterhas It’s a big book of quotable notables intermixed with a guy who really wants you to know he slept with Sharon Stone. There’s some chuckles to be had, especially if you’re irritated by Robert McKee, but let’s just say I’m glad I got this half-off from a used book store. 23) The River of Consciousness by Oliver Sacks   Writers of fiction would do well to read this. 24) Asking for It: The Alarming Rise of Rape Culture and What We Can Do about It  by Kate Harding *25) The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut 26) Red Clocks by Leni Zumas A reminder that dystopian tales don’t have to be cranked to eleven, and are often much more effective that way. 27) Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG by Goodman Games I don’t normally include RPG books in this list, but at about 450 pages I reckon this one earns a spot. I had a lot of thoughts about it, which you can read here. 28) Thongor and the Wizard of Lemuria by Lin Carter   Look man, either you want to read a Conan rip-off where a convenient flying ship pulls our hero out of trouble at Just. The. Right. Time. or you don't. Nothing I say here will change that. I dipped into this soon after discovering the infamous Appendix N reading list. 29) Dear Life by Alice Munro 30) A Cabinet of Byzantine Curiosities: Strange Tales and Surprising Facts from History's Most Orthodox Empire by Anthony Kaldellis 31) Climate Leviathan: A Political Theory of Our Planetary Future by Joel Wainwright and Geoff Mann 32) Writing the Pilot: Creating the Series by William Rabkin 33) Ways of Seeing by John Berger If you've already done some university level art studies you may find most of this old hat.But if you haven't? It's a great primer, and I strongly recommend it. Heck, I wish I'd had it put in front of me in high school. 34) Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado 35) A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah 36) Polyamorous Love Song by Jacob Wren This book came out a few years ago. Just a few days ago I found it on the dollar shelf at a great used book and record shop in Montreal (Cheap Thrills). I never bother with stuff from the dollar shelf because it's usually about as good as the price suggests. But. The title & cover grabbed my eye. Then I stood and read the entire first chapter, not because I needed that much to erode any skepticism but because it gripped me. Your mileage may - nay, will - vary, of course. For me, the contents of this book were exactly what I needed. It might be what you need too, especially if you are someone who creates any kind of art and is struggling with it in the face of an increasingly rabid world. 37) Feel Free: Essays by Zadie Smith 38) Revenge Fantasies of the Politically Dispossessed by Jacob Wren 39) Rich and Poor by Jacob Wren 40) Homesick for Another World by Ottessa Moshfegh   41) Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh 42) Room to Dream by David Lynch,  Kristine McKenna A great book whose format of a conversation between biography and autobiography really works! Both halves strangle the "lone genius" bullshit almost right out of the gate and, especially in Lynch's chapters, there's some kind of amusing punchline at the end of every other paragraph. An excellent read that is enjoyable even if you haven't seen every minute of his creative output. 43) Warrior of World's End by Lin Carter  This book contains a sentient metal bird called a "Bazonga" and a chapter called "Flight of the Bazonga", to give you an idea. It's fun and dumb and yes. 44) Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler 45) Twelve Tomorrows by Wade Roush (Editor) *46) A Burglar's Guide to the City by Geoff Manaugh   47) The Dying Earth by Jack Vance I was going to write my own review but then I saw BIll's here and it's just so much better than what I was going to say, as well as echoing much of my own thinking. 48) Dune by Frank Herbert It is Dune. 49) Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison This book does not in fact contain the famous twist from the film. That changes a lot, an awful lot. Frankly it evokes, read now, climate change at least as much if not more than overpopulation. I'm not sure if I'd recommend reading it, frankly, though not for any lack of talent on Harry Harrison's part. 50) Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell  51) Silver Screen Fiend: Learning About Life from an Addiction to Film by Patton Oswalt 52) The Chapo Guide to Revolution: A Manifesto Against Logic, Facts, and Reason by Chapo Trap House *53) Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut   Though it gifts us a few of his best quotes, such as “We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”, I feel like Mother Night is only necessary reading for completionists. It often feels like a short story filled out to novel length, and lacks any of the fantastic or meta-textual elements of his other works. 54) Dungeons and Dragons Art and Arcana: A Visual History by Kyle Newman,  Jon Peterson, Michael Witwer, Sam Witwer STATS Non-Fiction: 20 Fiction: 34 Poetry Collections:0 Comic Trades: 0 Wrote Myself: 0
