All That's Left follows two journalists and their friends in post-apocalyptic United States as they travel from the fallen east coast megalopolis Opportunity back to Los Angeles, crossing through a harsh wasteland overrun with zombies— only to find out that there is a lot more life left than what the protected cities want them to believe. On their journey they meet dozens of people living their lives as peaceful as possible away from military forces, corporations, and corrupt governments; and they learn that the same mutated ghouls that took down Opportunity are spreading rapidly through the country, destroying everything in their path. Will this finally be the end of the world as we know it?

Where do you find these manuscripts? Is it like a website or do you find it randomly??
hey, thanks for the curiosity! lenghty answer below the cut :)
1)
medieval manuscripts are typically owned by libraries and showcased on the library's websites. so one thing i do is i randomly browse those digitized manuscript collections (like the collections of the bavarian state library or the bodleian libraries, to name just two), which everybody can do for free without any special access. some digital collections provide more useful tools than others (like search functions, filters, annotations on each manuscript). if they don't, the process of wading through numerous non-illustrated manuscripts before i find an illustrated one at all can be quite tedious.
2)
there are databases which help to navigate the vast sea of manuscripts. the one i couldn't live without personally use the most is called KdIH (Katalog der deutschsprachigen illustrierten Handschriften des Mittelalters). it's a project which aims to list all illustrated medieval manuscripts written in german dialects. the KdIH provides descriptions of the contents of each manuscript (with a focus on the illustrations), and if there's a digital reproduction of a manuscript available anywhere, the KdIH usually links to it. the KdIH is an invaluable tool for me because of its focus on illustrated manuscripts, because of the informations it provides for each manuscript, and because of its useful search function (once you've gotten over the initial confusion of how to navigate the website). the downside is that it includes only german manuscripts, which is one of the main reasons for the over-representation of german manuscripts on my blog (sorry about that).
3)
another important database for german manuscripts in general (i.e. not just illustrated ones) is the handschriftencensus, which catalogues information regarding the entirety of german language manuscripts of the middle ages, and also links to the digital reproductions of each manuscript.
4)
then there are simply considerable snowball effects. if you do even just superficial research on any medieval topic at all (say, if you open the wikipedia article on alchemy), you will inevitably stumble upon mentions of specific illustrated manuscripts. the next step is to simply search for a digital copy of the manuscript in question (this part can sometimes be easier said than done, especially when you're coming from wikipedia). one thing to keep in mind is that a manuscript illustration seldom comes alone - so every hint to any illustration at all is a greatly valuable one (if you do what i do lol). there's always gonna be something interesting in any given illustrated manuscript. (sidenote: one very effective 'cheat code' would be to simply go through all manuscripts that other online hobbyist archivers of manuscript illustrations have gone through before - like @discardingimages on tumblr - but some kind of 'professional pride' detains me from doing so. that's just a kind of stubbornness though. like, i want to find my material more or less on my own, not just the images but also the manuscripts, and i apply arbitrary rules to my search as to what exactly that means.)
5)
whatever tool or strategy i use to find specific illustrated manuscripts-- in the end, one unavoidable step is to actually manually skim through the (digitized) manuscript. i usually have at least a quick look at every single illustrated page, and i download or screenshot everything that is interesting to me. this process can take up to an hour per manuscript.
---
in conclusion, i'd say that finding cool illuminated manuscripts is much simpler than i would have thought before i started this blog. there are so many of them out there and they're basically just 'hidden in plain side', it's really astounding. finding the manuscripts doesn't require special skills, just some basic experience with/knowledge of the tools available. the reason i'm able to post interesting images almost daily is just that i spend a lot of time doing all of this, going through manuscripts, curating this blog, etc. i find a lot of comfort in it, i learn a lot along the way, and i immensely enjoy people's engagement with my posts. so that's that :)

Where can we read more about amatonormativity and stuff? Do you have cool links?
hi there!
amatonormativity is a term coined by philosopher elizabeth brake, so i'd recommend starting with this post on her website.
AUREA has some good material on amatonormativity, including this page outlining the basics, and what can be done to combat it.
michon neal writes about amatonormativity, and i recommend reading this article by them. they're also the author of aro eros arrows, a book which i haven't read, but discusses the similar struggles of aromanticism and polyamory.
a great concept to look into if you want a way to illustrate amatonormativity's impact is 'the relationship escalator', which you can read about here.
there's also quite a few mainstream articles that discuss amatonormativity from a non-aromantic standpoint, which are good if you're looking to introduce the concept to family members or coworkers.
washington post - extremely introductory. this is the one you subtly send to your aunt who keeps asking you if you have a boyfriend.
medium - this one also talks about christianity and amatonormativity.
archer - less introductory, and it's written by an aromantic person. uses a metaphor about not drinking coffee while living in melbourne, which is extremely funny to me.
if you're looking for more in-depth reading:
amatonormativity and the law
"Thinking Relationship Anarchy from a Queer Feminist Approach", Roma De las Heras Gómez - PDF available upon request, i would have to get it through my university database
finally, and i cannot stress this enough: have a look around aro tumblr. there are many people who have written about amatonormativity far better than i can. a lot of the folks who are doing the work deconstructing amatonormativity are here.
try looking in the "amatonormativity", "relationship anarchy", "loveless aromantic", and "lovequeer" tags. there's lots of great stuff.

A little unpopular opinion on something I've seen happen more commonly throughout November/December and wanted to address quickly for my own blog: Please never hesitate to reblog anything from me. You see me reblogging a sentence starter list that you like? Go for it and reblog it from me directly without any pressure on you whatsoever to send anything into me before doing so. You like a GIF-set or musing that I reblogged? Nab it from me, it'll brighten my day to see that we share an interest in something. I like to see interaction between me and anyone who follows me. I like to see that little activity notification light up.
Honestly, it simply reminds me that we're all part of a community, and more specifically, a fandom that consists of characters and nations that we all came to love and then share that amongst ourselves. And honestly, seeing a reblog happen shortly after me but it's from the source, creates (in my opinion) an odd sense of chosen disconnect between people that can feel awkward, it's as if we're walking on eggshells as to not rub each other the wrong way. But what's wrong about going 'Hey, I see what you reblogged, I like it too!', it even gives you potential common ground to start a conversation. We're a community, and I don't know about you, but I like seeing people interact with each other beyond merely threads and notes. It's the little things that matter, after all.
#[ psa. ] seeing isn't always believing. and if you can't trust your eyes; you certainly can't trust rumors.#[ i feel like this whole 'reblog karma' rule has scared people so much into stopping with behavior that... ]#[ i think was healthy. interaction; no matter how small; makes it so much easier and comfortable for people to... ]#[ interact because you almost become 'familiar faces' through these tiny little asks. ]#[ the amount of times i've entered dms kindly/respectfully after someone's reblogged something from me-- ]#[ and the person and i proceeded to just gush about the reblogged fanart in question. or something similar. ]#[ which then makes any further ooc interaction so much easier and nicer-- the initial anxiety people may face is lessened. ]#[ because you've already found common ground. ]#[ like i don't mean to force anyone to reblog from me-- but it's like it's so obvious so often when people... ]#[ see something from you but then reblog it from the source. i dunno if it's just me but it feels odd. ]#[ it feels as if someone thinks reblogging from me would step on my toes or rub me the wrong way and i don't see?? ]#[ why that's a thing? it's so silly. reblog from me; feel welcome to do so. we all love this fandom. we all love our characters. ]#[ and each others' characters. it's why we interact; right? ]#[ any way. hi-- yes. i just mean never feel odd to reblog from me. if anything i encourage it. ]#[ i'll smile and nod at you in my activity; and you'll also pique my interest to be like 'hey! good taste 💙 ]#[ any way; i hope people are having a good weekend! ]

For those of you who've heard me allude to Grief Fic™, here it is. Please mind the warnings/tags. I'll put detailed content warnings/spoilers under the cut. 9.5K, post-series, major character death (off screen). A bittersweet story, but more sweet than bitter.
Ed and Stede have spent nearly forty years together, happily in love. It'll never be enough time. But also... it's more than they ever could have hoped for. A story that blends past and present to celebrate a love that transcends time.
A billion and one thanks to @monksofthescrew for working overtime to take this story to the next level. 💕
The story alternates between present day, when Ed and Stede are in their 80s and preparing to host a gathering for their friends, and memories of the life they built together after they retired from the world of piracy. Eventually it is revealed that Stede has an unspecified terminal illness. When it becomes clear he will not survive, Ed decides to go with him, and the gathering is their way to say goodbye to their former crew. The deaths take place off screen. It is clear that Ed and Stede are both at peace with their decision. Co-captains to the end. 💕

♡ ・ LETTERS TO THOSE WE MOTHER ━━━ an introspective, drabble series dedicated to zephia & eremiya
Tumblr media
. a few days after apping zephia, i reread the script of NMotE and fell in love with eremiya's character. the potential, the archetype, and most of all, the backstory she was given. though i disliked how it was thrown messily into the script, i had no doubt that she could be a character i'd enjoy writing. which, then, led me to wonder how similar and different she and zephia were. and i must admit that i grew obsessed with the idea of them interacting with one another ( though, at first, the thought definitely stemmed from a flickering, romantic piece i wrote for them. pardon my insanity it was a voice test for eremiya,, ).
thus, i created this! letters to those we mother, is a drabble series where i hope to do an in-depth exploration of their characters, both in who they are, what they are, and the potential was created for them. though this is self-indulgent, i hope to entertain whoever reads along, whether in succession or standalone.
thank you, TOA, for letting me have the opportunity to explore writing styles within this setting, as these two would never tolerate one another otherwise.
further information ( synopsis, table of contents, disclaimers, schedule, set-up; all to be updated with each drabble posted to the dashboard ) beneath the readmore!
Tumblr media
. SYNOPSIS. what happens when fodlan shatters the mirror separating an archetype? what should unfold when these two sides, cut from the same lengths of glass, find their hands touching, skin-upon-skin, without the safety of a reflection?
zephia dahut kurosawa, a mage dragon faithful at the feet of her lord, and eremiya n. ahava, a bishop condemned to obey the voice of her lord, have crossed into each other's territory and, thus, will embark on the reluctant path that mothers must retrace once their children have grown into young adults. a lifestyle they would have walked, separately, lest their corruptions never been birthed.
neither of these beasts have savored the taste of motherhood the way fate planned them to. so, what now? will their faith create permanent cracks in the mirror? will a dragon's realism and a bishop's pessimism meld together into the flawed glimpse of another; optimism?
this, only time would reveal.
. TABLE OF CONTENTS. as of planned, currently.
i. origins.
ii. cradles & fires.
iii. tbd.
iv. tbd.
v. tbd.
vi. tbd.
. DISCLAIMERS. neither zephia or eremiya are characters that will be redeemed in this series. instead, i hope to explain their conditions and explore the consequences to which they must be condemned. with this in mind, understand that these two muses are bad people and will not change automatically in the first drabble. the journey of self-introspection is a long one.
. SCHEDULE. estimated to be 6:00 pm on the 23rd day of every two months. ( ex. if the first drabble is posted on february 23rd, at 6:00 pm, then the next drabble would be posted on april 23rd, at 6:00 pm, and so on ) a brief prologue that contains a recap, teaser, and important information such as content warnings and writer notes will be posted at 9:00 pm on the 18th day of every two months.
. SET-UP. likewise, the order of drabble posting will switch between muses. this is with the hope that zephia and eremiya will have equal related posts to archive properly. the first drabble, origins, will be posted on zephia's blog, while the second, cradles & fires, will be posted on eremiya's blog. in that order ( zephia, eremiya, zephia, eremiya, etc ) the drabble series will be completed. none of these drabbles will be reblogged by either blog, simply linked. however, this post will be shared between blogs, just for easier access.
Tumblr media
. final words from the mun. again, whether you read one or two or all drabbles in this series, i hope you enjoy it! if i missed any content warnings and need to tag any themes or spoilers, let me know and i'll correct the mistake. otherwise, that's all from me. see you on the 18th / 23rd, concerning the series, and may the day treat you kindly, reader! ( and ps. yes, i did choose the 23rd because the number is my birthday number MKSEWKMSDJN )

Do you do virtual portraits/edits for BG3? :0 I can never get good pics of my Tav and would love to commission some if that’s a thing?
Hello hello! Thank you sm for considering me to do commissioning but I don't do requests like these :'( I feel bad for accepting money especially with my current skills. However! I would like to give you the tools that I use to take good pics of my Tav below:
Otis_INF (Baldur's Gate 3 Cam tool) - this is the one that allows me to get super good angles in game for my Tav. You'd need to pay for a patreon subscription though in order to use the tool BG3 Native Camera - the free version of the camera tool above ReShade - normally used with the camera tool above, it allows you to customize how you want your game to look. You can add blurs and all sorts of special effects NVIDIA Shadowplay - to record moments you want to gif (if you're interested in giffing your Tav) Photoshop - what I use to edit/make my gifs and photos

what is inuyasha i've never even heard of it till people kept answering inuyasha on the poll lol
you. you've never heard of inuyasha?
okay, so, it's a story about a girl named kagome who gets sucked into her family's old well (her family has a shrine) and ends up in feudal era japan. there, she meets and frees a dogboy (inuyasha, he's a dog/wolf half demon) who was basically the boyfriend of her past life. things happen and she accidentally shatters a really powerful jewel into pieces and they have to go around gathering all the pieces before the Dark Forces can get them, along with a monk, a really powerful demon slayer, and a young fox demon. there's also a romance between inuyasha and kagome that isnt bad, since theyre both tsunderes and idiots (im not much of a traditional media romance fan, myself)
it's also loosely based off journey to the west (inuyasha is monkey, kagome is tripitaka but more powerful)
honestly it's really good. you should check it out. ive been rewatching it lately, and even a decade later it's still really enjoyable

So . ... i read the newest chapter of colors and i have a question why didnt Red son or PIF or DBK know about Macaque's death? Did SWK keep his death a secret? Did Wukong actually kill him? If he assumed he left Macaque alive its going to be a somthing situation when the others find out like i imagine someone says "go to hell " and hes probably thinking "been there, done that " or something.
Well the thing is that in 'Interlude', PIF and DBK had indeed asked Macaque where he had been. Because he'd been absent and AWOL for more than a century by that point. Mostly it was because Macaque was dead, yeah, and then the rest of that time period he had sort of just been avoiding everyone. Macaque's excuse to PIF and DBK had simply been "well I did fight Wukong, and I did lose, so then after that I sort of just took myself out of the spotlight." Which is a valid excuse, it's not a good idea to be known for rivalling the great sage, and then being defeated. PIF and DBK never investigated any further than that, and thus this is the extent of what they know regarding Macaque.
In Blue and Violet, Macaque did indeed die. He went to Diyu after Wukong killed him, and LBD revived him a hundred years later with the help of the Chief.
Wukong does not talk about what happened in the fight either. And that's clear when you learn in Interlude that the little monkeys on the mountain had no idea that the fight between Macaque and Wukong even happened.
But does Wukong actually know that he ended up killing Macaque? Because maybe he left the scene thinking Macaque would eventually pick himself up again. Or did Wukong even intend to kill Macaque in the first place? These questions are questions the entire fandom has and in the fanfic I purposefully left it up to the reader's interpretation. Your interpretation. However I suppose you could say that in Interlude, when Macaque and Wukong meet again, you can see the tiniest instances of confusion from Wukong when Macaque brings up the fact that he died.
In conclusion? Literally just reread Interlude. Or just read it if you never even read it in the first place XDDDD. I wrote that fic in the series for a reason. Shadowpuppet content or not, it has so much information regarding establishing stuff for the Blue and Violet story. It is important. That's why I wrote it.
Because no, the Demon Bull Family does not know Macaque died and got revived by LBD. Yes, Wukong kept the fight between him and Macaque a secret because the little monkeys on Flower Fruit Mountain. Did Wukong kill him? Yes. Wukong definitely killed Macaque. Do Macaque and Wukong ever clear up their issues and potentially uncovering a misunderstanding regarding the fight and Macaque's death?
Wait and see.

hi , eclipse !! been following you for sometime and i figured i’d reach out to you for this kind of advice , but do you have any tips when it comes to taking one’s driver’s permit test 😭 anything would be greatly appreciated
— bee !! (if it’s not taken)
hi sweetie! bee is not taken so you can absolutely use it!!
so im not sure if it differs from state to state (if you’re in the US), but for my permit test, it was an online multiple choice test. it was like maybe 25/26 questions and only 20 was needed to pass. most of the questions was kinda like… common knowledge??? IE: signs (their shape and what it is), which car goes first, when to use high beams, when to turn on the blinker, etc.
there are some free practice tests online too!! those def helped me gauge how the test would be and eased my anxiety about it!
good luck on your permit test, bee!! remember to breathe and you got this!!!!!

Hi Freddie! I wanted to ask you a few questions about music if that's okay! I really enjoy your music and it actually got me to venture out and try to make my own :D
Im wondering the following:
1) how did you learn how to make music? Do you use any formal music theory knowledge?
2) what do you use to make your music?
That's all, have a wonderful day!!
YES i’m so glad to hear that. making music is so beautiful and i think everybody should do it at Least once
i taught myself to make music but i Do have quite a bit of music theory training. honestly though the only thing i consciously use is the circle of fifths because music theory is mostly superspecific white supremacist garbage but other than that you can get Really far just using your ear
here are some digital audio workshops that i’m familiar with
but! if you’re less interested in making electronic music then i recommend audacity :) free & very easy to use! hope any of this helps :-)
