I know I've said this so many times before, but it is just so comforting to see your posts about love and other people agreeing. Because I thought I was weird for almost immediately wanting to put a fic down when the romance was there, with labels of "boyfriend, girlfriend, husband." It’s like I don’t understand how the other qsmp ships work 😭 But the fact that skephalo just seems to always be there... It was just natural that they could go against the world together without anyone pushing a label on it. All that mattered was their unfailing love for the other and their natural friendship that went above that. In the qsmp they already have a history together! They've been with each other for centuries and know they have been together in past lives. Bad adores Skeppy.

For me, I don't really know how I feel about 4halo? I liked it a lot in the beginning because Forever was one of the few people that had the same views on the eggs that Bad did. But it just doesn't feel like it’s going to work? Bad and Forever have such different goals, and especially with Bad... I don’t think either will change. I like starhalo because they're just fighters, both to attack and protect. It just seems a lot softer than 4halo, I guess, but that's only because that ship got sucked into political drama. 4halo has the AMAZING jealously that I love, but it’s just missing something; like both characters know it will end up being a fling. But Etoiles has been so kind to Bad throughout his memory loss, teaching him to fight again, being patient... Idk, it’s strange. I almost miss it when there was no other Bad ship but Skeppy, I didn’t realize how narrow of a box Bad sat in o_o

(also sorry for the long ask. Just adding that I feel like if Bad killed Forever, that might be a schism in their relationship, while Etoiles would just admire it. But I don’t know, I haven't followed 4halo very well)

thank you for the long ask :D also disclaimer: everything i talk about here is more about viability in canon rather than enjoyment of ships. two different things! obviously i enjoy all q!bad ships through both a shipper lens and an analyst lens.

unlabeled relationships resonates so strongly with q!bad, especially given both his species and his aromanticism, which makes everyone pushing him towards a "typical" romance feel off (i wrote an analysis a bit ago on how qbad's aromanticism is treated on the server opposed to cbad, even if its a bit dated).

4halo's dynamic changes a lot, and it's hard to predict where they'll end up, and that makes them fun (happy pills 4halo is my favorite). there definitely is a certain type of inevitable "doom" with them, though. they'll never end up wholeheartedly trusting each other, but they'll love each other regardless. this ask was sent before yesterday's stream, where forever took care of bad, which goes to show how unpredictable they can be. they really do have a soft side, its just that they always seem to fail to fundamentally understand each other. and when all of q!bad's relationships are "tiered" in some way, this makes a committed relationship, whether platonic or romantic, difficult. forever has such a big heart and bad is so guarded. their relationship does come off of uneven in these unbalanced values, while a relationship like aypierre/bbh does not because pierre simply doesn't mind how paranoid and distrustful bad is. (but, again: that's what makes 4halo more compelling. q!bad is sick in the head obsessed yet is still so restrained around him.)

i really enjoy starhalo, but i cant really see bad striking up a committed, trusted relationship with etoiles. they're both warriors, but they're values are different. etoiles is honorable: he defends the weak, he likes fair fight. bad is a bit more desperate, a bit more brutal. he fights to survive and he takes delight in killing. he likes to win. he needs to win. etoiles obviously enjoys seeing this side of bad come out (in a way many islanders do not, like you said) but i cant help but wonder what would happen when these interests come into conflict. etoiles is to bend his morals to save friendships, but bad won't do the same in return.

and there's the issue with q!bad ships: bad is willing to cut everyone off if it means saving those he holds closest to his heart. and so every ship with him will inevitably crumble because he will choose if they're not up there. he would choose dapper over skeppy, even. and if skeppy comes second to the eggs, then how does it feel to be third on his list? fourth? fifth? how many people can stomach being in a relationship with someone who already knows how expendable you are to them?

again i love shipping im a huge shipper, i love romantic q!bad ships a lot. but there's a reason he fits into an us-against-the-world, unshakeable, all-consuming, unlabeled love, as opposed to the more typical romance progressions you see from fitpac/bagina/spiderbit. there's a reason all q!bad ships have some level of toxicity, while many ships without him do not. he's an all or nothing person, and finding someone who will wholly give him his heart, and wholly receive his heart back, will take a lot. so far, the closest is still presumably q!skeppy (which could still change if he were ever on the island), and that is due to thousands of years and lifetimes together. to have someone else take that place...well, we would have certainly known by now.

So, do you remember how Dream was originally missing a leg in the Time Travel AU? Well here’s your explanation into why I changed that one.

Everything’s been going pretty well, in everyone else’s eyes. Going great, even! Sam and Quackity are on the same page, Sapnap and Punz have decided that Dream is in good enough hands to not need an escape hatch, Bad has fun making him new foods that he can try, etc.. It’s calm, peaceful, nice.

And then Dream runs away.

It’s okay that Punz isn’t on his side anymore, he tells himself. He can do this. He can do it all on his own. He has to — this can’t have all been for nothing, it can’t. So he runs, and he suits up in armor, and he prepares to bide his time as a manhunt surges in the distance.

Meanwhile, everyone is panicking. They’re all trying to hunt down Dream together, but they’re also trying to find him first — namely so that they can bring him back, get him settled, and then lie to the others and say that he’s been punished severely enough to not need anything additional, no sir’ee. A lot of them are even talking themselves up publicly to give the impression that they’re gonna give Dream a real ass whooping. This only makes everything worse.

By the time the whole server finally has Dream surrounded, they all manage to talk him down. If he does what they say, they’ll go easy on him — that’s the promise. He hands over his armor. His weapons. His food. His heart is racing, he’s looking for a way out.

And he sees it in the form of a cliff nearby.

Once the others relax just enough to let their guards down, Dream runs and he jumps. He hears Sam scream.

There’s a river below, and it is freezing. It knocks the breath out of him, forces him into shock. He barely manages to get out alive, the current having pulled him miles and miles away and straight into a snowy taiga. He’s cold, he’s wet — he doesn’t even have his thick armor anymore.

And it’s started to snow.

First he limps. Then he stumbles. Then he crawls. Then he drags himself through the snow. There’s no end in sight. He’s going to die out here.

The last thing he sees is two large, fluffy paws landing in front of his eyes.

my heaaaarrrrtttt but ok ok i see how the time skip ask for the Time Travel AU comes into play here,, so i guess quick recap for their relationship statuses to make sure i get it right (below);

quackity&sam: both know that they want to help dream,, but neither of them have told dream. dream thinks that they are planning something nasty and doesn’t trust their kindness, but melts to the kindness regardless. (i can’t remember if sam and quackity both know that each other have experienced a limbo? or if they only know that they both want to help dream)

sapnap: wants to help dream. gets on quackity’s good side with the plan to break dream out. realises that dream is being treated well. decides that he’s in good hands and leaves him be. has quackity and sam convinced that dream needs to be secure still. dream still thinks sap will kill him if he escapes

punz: at some point he realises that the limbo has been experienced by everyone? i think i remember you saying this once. but we haven’t gone into much depth about his character in this AU 🤔 dream thinks that punz has betrayed him

bbh: i assume quackity and sam invite bad in at some point coz they both realise they need a better chef lmao. i find it fun to hc that cbad heals himself and others by making them food hehe

hopefully i got most of that right (set me back on track if i didn’t)… but anyway dream has managed to break out and a manhunt breaks out. everyone’s pretending that they plan on finding him and punishing him but theyre actually planning on helping him and are all severely worried :(

despite their hidden motives they’re all working together. they find him, encourage him to drop everything and then watch as he jUmps OF A cLIFf and iNtO a river 😩 poor babbyyyyyyyyyy 😭

he winds up in the snow and then the time skip kicks in. do sam and him still have the same heated argument where dream claims he’s treated like a toy or does that come later when he’s not so weak and frost bitten? it’s all coming together :O

I have to wonder if cdream ever lost faith on the gamble for asking cbad to give the blueprints to cranboo. Like. Did he think cbad went and reported the attempt instead of actually doing it? Did cdream just have to *guess* when he told ctechno where the blueprints would be hidden, wondering if theyd ever been placed at all?

I tend to think that Bad probably quietly assured Dream that he’d placed the blueprints, as soon as he got a chance. We know there must have been at LEAST enough communication between them to establish that Bad needed to contact EW!Ranboo (even if the details of blueprints + coordinates were set up ahead of time… but if they were, then why didn’t Dream just hide a copy himself pre-prison? But I digress.) This makes me think that Bad would at least give Dream a bit of reassurance.

But, two HUGE caveats:

1) there was still the time that passed in the interim.

How often did Bad get a chance to visit Dream in the first place? Can’t have been all the time. That would be a real hassle for Sam to manage, plus neither Dream nor Bad acts like he saw him daily or anything like that. How many days passed with Dream wondering every day if THIS would be the time Quackity would come in with a furious twist to his smile and say, “you’ll never guess what Bad told me, Dream.”

On top of that, how long did it take for Bad to figure out how to steal the blueprints, successfully find and trigger EW!Ranboo, and otherwise coordinate things? Stealing from Sam is dangerous. Bad knows what he’s capable of. If he fails it’s… yeah, it’s not good. It’s fucking terrifying. Bad tries hard not to think about it.

Bad cannot provoke suspicion. This means he has to be very careful about when and how he talks to Dream.

2) sure as hell doesn’t mean Dream believed him! At least not completely!

Dream has learned his lesson about trust, and he’s learned it well. This could all be a trick. A long con. Maybe Sam’s a lot better at this than Dream thinks he is. Maybe Sam’s assigned Bad to play good cop.

Maybe the plan is that Bad is going to keep trying to gain Dream’s confidence, agree to help him, agree to an escape plan, and then—and then ask for just one little thing in return. One little secret, that’s all, and then you’ll be free, did you like those sandwiches, Dream, you can have so many once you’re out! Won’t that be nice.

Dream gave Techno the coordinates, sure. But he also tells Techno he didn’t think Techno was coming back for him. He had three long months to wait and wonder if Bad betrayed him or simply lost his nerve; or if something went wrong and Techno never got the blueprints, or if Techno decided not to fulfill the favor after all.
