A/N: this is the first imagine I’ve ever posted on here hehe. but this most likely will be a 2-3 part mini series of pure angst...so yay!

   "My goodness, I can't believe it's been a year and this is how we're celebrating it? " I take a sip from my wine glass with a raised brow towards Harry. We were sat on the floor at the recording studio, having a makeshift little picnic to celebrate a year. A whole year of a beautiful friendship. "Well I thought it'd be fitting, ya know this is where we met and stuff. Look, I even got those Korean chips that you snacked on that day!" I laugh as he comically picks up a chip and places it in his mouth, followed by an exaggerated moan. I try to hide the blush rapidly heating up my face at how much effort he put into this silly thing. It started as a little joke I brought up to him one day when we were having a lazy day, and of course Harry would take it seriously. He planned the little picnic basket after a day in the studio when everyone else left and he had asked me to stay a little longer to help him with lyrics and whatnot. It was a complete surprise and I couldn't help but adore how happy and proud he was setting this up. 

"Alright I gotta give it to ya H, you are the bestest friend anyone could ever ask for. I'm just happy that you didn't include those disgusting kale chips of yours." The smile that hasn't left his face drops into a shocked and offended look. 

"Hey, you said you wouldn't make fun of my addiction anymore." He scoots closer to me, gently poking my rib to which I immediately jump and swat his hand away. "I'm sorry- I'm sorry!" I giggled when he makes himself comfty sat right next to me. 

Subconsciously, I move closer till his shoulder touched mine. "I like this sweater, it's fluffy and keeps people warm." I say, huddling into the fabric that Harry gave me to wear when it got colder. "You know what, I like all your sweaters H, they're all impeccable."   He chuckles, "really? It looks better on you than me, bubs." I smile, using the over-sized sleeves to cover my face and faking a groan. "Oh you would with that cliché ass line."  "It's true! Beautiful in m'clothes." He mumbles and I had to only respond with gratefully lending my shoulder as a resting spot for his head. Considering he literally had to bend his whole body to do so every time he does this, I never understood how he found this comfortable. We shared a comfortable silence for a minute, sipping on our wine, the bottle nearly finished. The courage coming from it is telling me this would be the perfect time. It's the right setting to finally tell him that my feelings go beyond friendship and that it has been since the first month. The thought made me nervous at first, but there had been so many signs from him that had me thinking he's feeling the same way. Maybe those were just my expectations and how loving Harry is, but every time I look at him, I'm mesmerized. "Honestly don't know what I'd do without you bubs." Harry suddenly says and I snap out of my thoughts to glance down at him staring at his empty glass. My heart started beating fast and my breathe hitched when he pulls away only a few inches away to look back at me "This was a tough year and you've been there with me through it all, haven't been this close to someone in that short of time." He says lowly, looking right into my eyes. I take his hand in my small ones and play with his fingers in comfort, as we reflected on how this was both the best and worst year for him. While he became such a successful solo artist after the band and created the best relationships in his life, he reached a mental low dealing with his own insecurities and went through a breakup that took a major toll on him. They ended on good terms, but Harry went through the aftermath of a loss alone. I came in a month after his break up, hired as a lyricist to help him get out of this creative block but also to help him realize how much he was really worth as a person. It was a gradual slow process of friendship at the start, but it quickly blossomed into becoming best friends, growing feelings in between for me. "You're so good to me, I don't deserve it." He was so close and I couldn't tell if I was leaning in or not. My chest feels like it's bursting. "Harry, you've done so much for me, don't put yourself down like that. You deserve my love, mkay?" He looked so vulnerable, staring into my eyes as I couldn't pinpoint what emotion he was feeling right now. I was always able to read Harry easily, but maybe it was the wine that made it harder to understand what was racing through his mind. I couldn't register it. His lips on mine were foreign but felt right, like they fit perfectly. His hands cupping my face gently made me realize this was actually happening. My best friend who I've loved for so long was finally kissing me. "You absolutely deserve mine... "                                                        ***    My anxiety was getting the best of me. The party wasn't like any other rowdy and crowded New Year's Eve celebration. It was a gathering of close friends and mutual at a penthouse with just enough drinking and fun shenanigans. I knew all these people and they knew me, yet it wasn't easy to breathe regularly for some reason. I smiled and laughed along with the conversation among the circle of friends I situated myself in with Harry standing to my right, two people in-between us. I anxiously played with my fingers wrapped around a bulbous wine glass, zoned out but somewhat participating with the group. I caught his eyes, both of us giving a smile when he shot me a quick goofy face. His eyes trailed down to my hands, an obvious tell. I respond with a reassuring smile, placing my hand on my chest to which he steps outside and moves to stand next to me. I soften as he places a hand casually on my back, rubbing up and down. The nerves die down a bit. Usually, I would of been full comfortable but it was different now. After the kiss Harry and I shared, nothing had changed as much as I wanted it too. There was still the casual flirting and touchy gestures, but other than that, Harry never brought it up. "Soo, what now?" I had asked him when he dropped me off at my apartment. He gives me a tight smile and takes my hand in his, bringing it to his lips. "Still my best girl." I was confused afterwards, not fully understanding how he felt towards me. "Hey, I kind of wanted to talk to you about yesterday... " I approached him in the studio, his sweater keeping me warm that morning. "Oh yeah, you never told me what you wanted for Christmas. And by the way, I'm gonna need that sweater back sooner or later." He chuckles, going back to writing down chord progressions. Him avoiding the subject made me think he didn't want to talk about it, so I stopped trying. It made me insecure a bit to show him any type of affection back, but I didn't have it in me to tell him when I'm engulfed in his huge frame, feeling safe and happy at the moment. What made me snap out of my thoughts was his hand leaving my back and slipping into his jacket pocket. He then started being part of the funny story Mitch was telling, including his own side and little comedic comments that made the group laugh. As much as it brought a smile to my face, there was nothing more I wanted to do than take his arm, wrap it around me and kiss his cheek before laying my head on his chest. He took a second here and there to glance at me, probably aware how tired i was getting even though it was only a few minutes before midnight. The kiss defiantly affected something here, as much as Harry was trying to show that it hasn't, I can at least appreciate the acknowledgment that he shared similar feelings towards me. Maybe this was him thinking about the possibilities afterwards, knowing Harry wasn't very much a confrontational person and has taken time to learn to process things more logically rather than pure emotional instinct. When he catches me staring and throws a knowing smirk followed by a wink, I melt right on the spot but at the same time, holding back from rolling my eyes. I felt his stare kept on me when I looked away, feeling less frustrated and more understanding of his situation. Maybe I do just need to give him time... When I looked back at him, he was now looking away at something else apart from the group. I didn't give it a second glance till I noticed he was fully distracted before Mitch kept calling his name but getting no response back. Harry was in deep trance at something more fascinating than his friend's story, and when I caught sight of what was distracting him, I fully understood why. She stood out, so it wasn't to hard to point her out. But of course she would, she looks stunning in that dress that happens to only be a different shade of color from mine. The natural glam and brightening smile on her face as she talked to mutual friends perfected her look, but it was the sound of her melodic voice that just set the deal. It was her laughter from across the room that caught his attention first, what made him break his gaze on me to her. My first thought was concern for Harry and if he was suddenly feeling overwhelmed or distraught by her presence after a breakup. But then I looked back at him and only saw longing and adoration. It was a look I only was recently familiarized with. I purse my lips to hide the frown set on my face while I felt my heart beat much faster initially, watching him mesmerized as she walks across the floor to greet more party guests. Her blue eyes wide and shining, most likely something Harry was dying to see once again as he hoped she would turn his way. Is this what hopelessness feels like? Mitch gave up on trying to catch his attention as soon as he realized who Harry was looking at, and so did the rest of the group. But here I was, desperately looking up at him in hopes that he would suddenly break away and meet my own eyes that stood right next to him. "Guys! The count downs about to start!" Someone called out, followed by cheers and applause as everyone slowly started gathering towards the balcony to see the firework show and celebration of the city below. She moves away from the crowd though, choosing to be semi alone next to the aquarium with a glass of martini in her hand. More people started crowding around us, the group disintegrated into a whole, but my focus was on Harry. As much as my anxiety and tiredness was getting worse, it couldn't compare to the ache in my chest when he takes a hesitant step towards her direction. In a second, my hand flies towards his and gently tugs to me in a last ditch of desperation while I softly call out his name. Maybe it was the way he stopped and turned his head slightly before completely pulling away and walking towards her, leaving me engulfed with the crowd alone. Or that I could picture the loving look on his face when she finally sees him approaching and gives him a welcoming smile while the sound of people counting down from 20 is muddled into the background. All I could imagine to hear was his small 'hi' and compliment for how beautiful she looks, knowing how nervous he would be. "3, 2, 1! Happy New Years!" The celebration of those around me drowned out my glossy eyes as I see Heather take Harry's hand in hers, sharing that same complete adoration look on her face that I was only just becoming familiar with.

Ngl though, this question is giving me low key anxiety, lol. I hope you don’t mind, but when I got it, I poked on your AO3 page to include your bookmarks, mainly because I don’t want to recommend something you’re probably gonna hate. I know my writing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and I hate to assume too much??

I don’t really work in Panem all that often, and when I do, I usually don’t dabble in the Games, so it’s... hrm ah... I mostly write modern AU and they’re all kinda heavy on the smut, although I’d like to think there’s plot and character development in there too. Also the word counts are a little high on some, and there’s quite a few that are unfinished, so i don’t want to suggest anything that takes a huge commitment??? I do try to be good about the tags, though, so please feel free to reject any or all of these suggestions. You won’t hurt my feelings if you read only one or none:

9000 R.P.M. - One of my personal faves of mine. Modern AU. Race car driver and single mom Katniss, mechanic Peeta. It’s finished and Explicit.

Outside Chance - I... I have no excuses except this one is an epic and my baby. Everlark in the Winter Olympics & Paralympics, family shenanigans, quite a lot of angst but eventual happy ending, and while it isn’t complete, I’m stuck in a spot that would work as a happy end if there wasn’t more I still wanted to show. Has two spin off series focused on each of Peeta’s brothers (actual on the ladies who love them lol) that are both kinda epics in their own right... Also Explicit.

The Midnight Train - JUST HEED THE FREAKING TAGS OKAY? It’s one of my few in Panem Au’s that includes the Games and works as a done deal right now. I do have a continuation planned, but it’s still a ways from being ready to post and this part I’ve linked doesn’t end on a cliffhanger or anything. RATED EXPLICIT I cannot stress this enough.

Secret Kisses, Secret Wishes - My only multi-chapter in Panem with the Games story. Peeta is already a Victor, Katniss and Gale go into the arena together. It’s not my personal favorite, but it got quite a bit of love from readers so, what do I know anyways, lol? Also Mature/Explicit. But it’s finished.

Do you have any good drarry fic refs? I’ve been trying to find a good multi chapter fic to read over the weekend

Hi, Ben!  Hope you had a good day, and are finally getting some rest!  So, did you know there are sites that let you design your own ugly Christmas sweaters?  May I present the one that Peter’s husbands get him for a party?  Except then the jokes on them because he won’t stop wearing it EVERYWHERE (at least I hope the image shows?  It saved in a different format on the site I used for this.)  Also, if you were ever to actually make a shirt of it, I would suggest an image from the reaction GIF you used for the alignment/meta anon.  Because, my god, that smirk.  XD  (Also, they are totally right.  And it is hilarious to me that the two officers of the law are firmly [and accurately] on the neutral side of that axis.  XD )

And I’m still screaming over that latest preview.  He just wants cuddles and ear scritches, Noah!  The saliva will dry, he’s just showing his appreciation for your support.  XD  And oh, yeah I knew he would eventually get better, it was more me trying to decide how quickly I was hoping for it to happen.  My “I want it asap because I hate seeing them in pain” side was warring with my “but nightmare creature cuddles would be adorbs, tho?” side (and they are).  :D  Also, terrible thought brought on by working at my job too long: since I don’t think that form has a tail like a wolf (I don’t really remember noticing one, at least?), do you think that since he can’t wag, he starts doing the wiggle-butt thing like boxers and pits tend to do?  (sorry, the thought occurred to me and I couldn’t make it stop.  XD )

Also, how dare you put the image of Noah and Chris cuddling in the window seat watching the snow fall while the listen to Peter singing ‘Hallelujah’ as he finishes the dishes, in my head?  Or them sitting at the table having coffee and joining him for the choruses?  Or Chris singing along with Tony Bennett or Harry Connick Jr on the local Christmas station?  Or Noah singing along with Chris Cornell’s version of Ave Maria (or doing a damn good impression at least [song is available on Spotify, btw, if you’ve not heard it])?  My body was not meant to hold this level of feral screaming, dude.  XD

For the undecided alignment (that don’t involve spoilers), I would vote LN for Danny and CG for John.  No specific reasons, that’s just what feels right at the moment.  And I’m curious if Noah and the kids have been in the vault at all, because Malia would be able to access it.

And, yes, I am all for mutual body positivity support among the boys.  I remember watching some BTS thing a few years back, and Linden said something about how everyone was “running around without their shirts on, and I just feel kinda old and jiggly”, and my very first thought was “Oh, please.  You may not be I’ve-had-nothing-but-chicken-for-a-week-and-haven’t-had-liquids-in-three-days ripped like the other guys, but in no way will you ever convince me you are actually out of shape in the slightest."  Also, I’m just picturing a scene where Noah accidentally(/on purpose…?) looms over Chris, who just has this moment of "oh, yeah, that’s right, you’re tall now” immediately followed by “well, I am learning a number of new things about myself right now"  XD  On a related note, how do you think he feels about dip kisses after realizing this?  Although, I do hope Noah does not sweep Chris off his feet in quite the same way Chris keeps doing to him.  XD

On an unrelated note, that post about Artoo and Luke about killed me dead.  XD  Artoo’s propensity for shenanigans and Luke’s pervading issues with impulse control is just a complete recipe for hilarious disaster and total ride-or-die besties.  It also reminded me of the post about how Rogue One leads into New Hope and Leia straight up lying right to her dad’s face.  Which, while hysterical, also makes me think about how many posts I see about how Leia is very much her father’s daughter, but almost never see any that point out how much Luke is his mother’s son.  I just have a LOT OF FEELINGS about this, okay?  But I will contain that rant.  XD  (Star Wars has been an on-again-off-again love for me since I was 9.  It’s pretty much a guaranteed way to get an emotional response out of me.  XD )

And I’m glad Mo doesn’t bother the tree or anything, though the box thing is pretty funny.  But he does seem to have that very cat-like tendency to want to completely block you from accessing the keyboard or pin you in place because he’s laying on you and you don’t want to disturb him, so I think he’s catting just fine.  XD  I mean, I have some friends who one of their cats is immune to scruffing (the downside of this is that he’s also almost completely feral still [he was a stray that stayed], and at one point he got a UTI and needed antibiotics.  I’m pretty sure my friend had to get like a falconing glove or something to get his pills in him.  XD )

That America being huge vs Europe being old thing also made me laugh because there was the section about the "long bus ride” that was like two hours, and all I could think about was how often we drove four hours both ways to visit my grandparents, and how in high school we took a trip to Canada, and I don’t remember the exact length of the bus ride up, but I know it was between twenty-three and twenty-eight hours.

And I hope you’re enjoying the Spiderman game, or will when you get to it!  As best I recall, everyone I know who has played it has had nothing but good things to say about it.  And wow, I’m rambling again.  Oh well.  Anyway, hope you’re doing well, and sending lots of good energy for finishing the chapter to your satisfaction (I know the readers certainly don’t mind the longer chapters.  :D )  Take care!  *Hugs!*

And yeah, they definitely gift Peter a sweater like that, lbr. No other way about it. It definitely backfires when Peter wears it every single year and to everywhere. Including PT meetings and the parent/school board meetings? I forgot the American word for it, in Dutch we call it ouderraad. I know we talked about them before where Peter starts a war with the ‘Karen’ and completely wrecks her. And how all the other moms fall in love with the three DILFS.

But yeah, wears it everywhere and every year XD. 

Noah’s deputies, including Jordan, have definitely snapped pictures and post them on every computer desktop in the station. Including pictures of Noah’s reaction faces of that sweater.

Because you cannot convince me, that a bunch of cops, would not be dicks about this.

Chris is infinitely grateful that he does not have coworkers like that.

And god that is rather good smirk to go with that line XD. And yeah I guess it is funny. But it’s also true and that’s wow... XD 

I did a character alignment test for Peter and came out on CN so that is what I’m going to stick with in any itteration for him. 

As for the wiggle butt thing, he does not have a tail and I already had a very lengthy inner discussion with myself before getting this ask and I can tell you, he does wiggle butt like a boxer in this form. Imagine a fucking beast like that just wiggle butting with happiness. The image is so bizarre that I had to include it in the full moon chapter.

Chris is definitely learning a number of things about himself when he figures out Noah can now loom over him and press him against walls. Also Chris has a thing for being bound or pressed against objects and when Noah figures that one out, well, let’s say Peter certainly doesn’t mind watching those moments.

There’s also a revelation when Chris says; I can easily get out of these handcuffs and Noah translates it too; Good, that means that as long as you don’t try to, you’re consenting to whatever I’m doing to you. Deal? To which Chris, enthusiastically agrees. It’s a very fun game. Peter disagrees because they tend to lock him out during the games with some ash, although he is invited back in after they’re done and then the attention of two Omegas is fully on him. So I suppose he doesn’t mind too much.

Something that is both funny and sweet though is that through Ben, Noah discovers how much he misses having little kids running around. And he has a few moments of; oh god I want another kid realizations in this chapter.

Of course, considering their situation this isn’t the time and Noah more than realizes that. But it gets conversations about the future going for all three of them.

Oh and to answer your question, Malia has not been to the vault, but she and her siblings will get to see it. If that’s with dad or with Derek I haven’t decided yet. But they will end up at the vault in this story. Gotta get Peter’s necklace back.

So far I’ve had a bit of a rough day but by answering this and focusing on headcanons, and that freaking sweater!!!!, I feel a bit better. So thank you my friend, this helped me a lot <3. 

And I agree, Leia is just like her father but Luke is all Padme and people don’t talk about that enough. <3

Dear Author,

Happy (upcoming) holidays, and thank you for writing for me as a part of this exchange! I hope that one or several of the things I’ve written down here sparks some ideas that we’ll both enjoy! As in my request through the AO3 exchange, I’m putting some general likes and dislikes, followed by some prompts for each of the requested ships I put down. Feel free to run with anything that calls to you - I can only hope that writing this will be as fun for you as I know that reading it will be for me!

Likes: 

- Rom-com and meet-cute tropes (fake relationships, accidental marriage, sex before feelings) - Magic and magical realism (hockey magic such as curses, superstitions, literal witches in the NHL, actual hockey gods are all FANTASTIC, though I love me a good magic AU where they don’t play hockey as well!) - Soulmate AUs/tropes of pretty much every variety (can you tell I’m a sap yet?) - Mutual pining - Banter between main characters, humor, puns - Alternate Universe fic in general (including but not limited to historical settings, fantasy/mythology, not-a-hockey-player!AUs, omegaverse) - Happy endings!  - Anything wintery/holiday/Christmas related. Dear Author, I’ll say it a billion times: the holiday season is my absolute favorite time of year, so anything you want to work into your story in terms of it being set around the holidays, holiday themes and tropes like getting snowed in, huddling for warmth, sledding, hot chocolate, gift exchanges - I love it all.  (The only thing I'm not as crazy about is bringing home someone to meet the family around the holidays in fake relationship stories.) - Smut (as long as it’s consensual and none of the below - but seriously, no pressure if that’s not the kind of thing you’re comfortable writing!)

Dislikes:

- Character death, violence/gore, body horror, self harm - Rape/Noncon/Dubcon - Mpreg - Underage - Infidelity, jealousy, break-up fic, angst without a happy ending - BDSM and D/s themes - Poly relationships/threesomes - A heavy focus on homophobia or internalized homophobia - High school AUs, Coffeeshop AUs that have no plot direction  - Rule 63/cisswaps - Established relationships - Demonizing IRL wags/spouses/former girlfriends etc.(although I’d really prefer them not present/included very little) - kidfic

My dislikes are pretty clear-cut in that I don't enjoy unresolved angst, scary/dark/horror themes, violence and gore for the sake of gore, and darker fic in general.  Just a small note on the “established relationship” dislike: a lot of the enjoyment I get out of fic is seeing my faves figure out their shit and get together (finally!) or fall in love, so established relationships at the start of the story just don’t do it for me. Also, as much as I like fluff and fun AUs, high school AU and coffeeshop AU have become too saturated to me and I'm not as interested in those tropes!

TL;DR: I'm here for all manner of fun stuff with the above pairings, and as a romantic-at-heart, Christmas-loving hockey fan, any combination of the above likes would be very enjoyable to me!

Jamie Benn/Tyler Seguin

- Anything around the resolved contract signing situation finally playing out - maybe Jamie finally making a move now that it’s clear Tyler is staying in Dallas? If set around Christmas, maybe with a gift exchange involved? - Christmas/holiday fic with these two would be my kryptonite! Really, almost any fun wintery/holiday tropes are delightful, maybe some mutual pining/rom-com shenanigans that finally resolve around the holidays. - Accidentally bonded (soul-bonded or anything else magic-related) and then getting together is tried-and-true fantastic trope with these two! - Anything with the rest of the team involved in/very aware of their crushes on each other, trying to help set them up, etc. I love all the Starboys. Background Stars rarepairs also welcome! 

Tyson Barrie/Gabriel Landeskog

- These two were MADE for fun rom-com tropes, if you ask me, Tyson especially. He’s ridiculous and I love him. Any rom-com or meet-cute and lack of communication that results in pining (that finally gets resolved) is just A+ - I don’t think I’ve ever seen a soulmate AU with this pairing, and I would absolutely LOVE one. Maybe not name-on-skin, but any other variation of these two figuring out that they are soulmates would be amazing! - Colorado in winter and Tyson enjoying DQ regardless of the season seems like a really fun match up - maybe some snowed in/cuddle for warmth shenanigans too?

Erik Johnnson/Nathan MacKinnon (There are less than ten fics of these two on Ao3 so I wouldn’t be picky at ALL if this is what you end up going with! I’ll just rain my love down on you forever.)

- Mutual pining with a dash of Tyson and Gabe as exasperated best friends is. SO delightful. - Fitness instructor AU where one of them teaches a class the other ends up attending (yoga? zumba? anything that seems mildly ridiculous for someone over 6ft and built like a hockey player to be teaching and/or taking is fair game) - actually ANY of these pairings would be super fun with this AU - Anything with American EJ/Canadian Nate shenanigans - do they need to get married because Nate needs a green card? Bantering about American vs Canadian Thanksgiving? Is it a rivalry thing? Love it.

Brett Ritchie/Devin Shore (Another pairing that is criminally overlooked and has too few fics! Anything with these two would be amazing.)

- Childhood best friends ending up on the same team together - either finally reunited, or just their long-term friendship getting deeper! Also good: the physical changes that come with being adults now, watching the other going from cute kid to NHL player (insert eye emojis here) - Possessive and/or protective behavior on the ice, maybe coming to a head as a result of one of them getting injured? Brett fighting for Devin would be awesome, but the reverse would also be interesting to see! - Also anything fluffy and holiday-themed for these two!  - Fake dating in which their families get really excited they are together after so long, which makes them realize how perfect for each other they really are

That’s about all I can think of! Again, anything holiday-themed would just be absolutely delightful to me (seriously, lift from the Hallmark holiday movies if you want to - I love wintery/rom-com/holiday tropes!) and overall, I just love seeing my faves get together and find their happy ending. Feel free to mix and match any of the above, regardless of pairing, if you see something that inspires you!
