I was thinking about the Akiba's Trip anime again and one of the reasons it was good is that it came out so long after the games that it didn't matter that they completely ignored them outside of the common title and basic premise. They mostly focused on weird asides about otaku culture and Akiba tourism promotion

I do have a soft spot for the games, but it's better this way, because the games' aren't very good. Like all the bad parts of Way of the Samurai without the positives that would've offset them from being set in and around Akiba. I still want to visit some of the restaurants from episode 10.
