I've been reading some works of Edogawa Ranpo lately and his character of Akechi Kogorō really reminds me of Akechi Tomua. I mean like the way he rants about how he figured out who the murderer is or overall in how he is behaving. Idk i just found it interesting

Okay lemme try to explain this
My friend and I came up with an AU (mostly my friend, they come up with all the good ideas) where A. The Apotoxin ages you less if you're older and B. Shinichi bails on taking Ran to Tropical Land, so Kogoro takes her instead and is the one who gets shrunk. Megure takes the place of Agasa as the one person who knows at first, and points out that Ran is now in danger, offering to drive her to Eri's until they can figure out what to do. Either by Megure's suggestion or happenstance/desperation (or both) Kogoro ends up asking Shinichi for help.
It's basically a role reversal, Kogoro hiding his true identity from Shinichi and ending up living at the Kudo mansion, both of them trying to track down the Black Org. (Honestly Kogoro being shrunk to Teen Size instead of Child Size doesn't impact a whole lot except them it being easier for them to chat/be friends. And no, it's not an excuse to ship them, I find that Gross. But I do like the idea that they become friends, more than they ever would've with Kogoro normally being an overprotective parent that refuses to understand Shinichi on a deeper level than "Smart aleck brat that steals my jobs")

Yuuki Mishima (P5R)
As his name suggests, Yuuki Mishima was inspired by Japanese author, Yukio Mishima. Among the later’s famous works is Confessions of a Mask, an autobiographic novel looking into the author’s homosexuality. Mishima bears some resemblance to the novel’s protagonist, who is physically weak, socially awkward and constantly tormented by the idea of how he looks in other's eyes.
At the end of his confidant, Yuuki Mishima composes a log of the Phantom Thieves activities, and grants the protagonist his Documentary Plans regarding this project. This biographical novelization is based on the Leader of the Phantom Thieves, Joker, who is a incarnation of Arsene Lupin & "The Fiend with Twenty Faces" / "The Masked Fiend" - (Ko)Goro Akechi's rival.
Ren Amamiya's theme song, Beneath the Mask, is also a solid reference to the mentioned title.
So like... there’s just one thing in my mind.

The Phantom Doctor - Edogawa Rampo (translated by Eugene Woodbury)
Kogoro Akechi Sensei, my beloved. He's so cool! When I grow up I wanna be like him. I think what I enjoyed most about this novel is that more than figuring out the mystery I was trying to figure out how exactly Akechi Sensei was going to solve everything. Massive bonus is that there's no Hisoka moment in this, despite the creepy vibes from the Doctor.
7/10
