Detective Conan Tamagotchi Nano Colorful

The very first ever color screen Tamagotchi Nano has just been announced! The Detective Conan Tamagotchi Nano is the first tamagotchi in the Tamagotchi Nano Colorful series. This is the second collaboration Bandai has had with Detective Conan, a Japanese manga series.

The Detective Conan Tamagotchi Nano Colorful will come in two shells, red and blue, the red is called “Conano Edogawa” and the blue is called “Kid The Phantom Thief”. These two Tamagotchi’s feature the first ever color screen on a Tamagotchi Nano, a rechargeable battery, and connectivity to recharge! There is no further information on battery life or the connectivity it will feature. It could very well be USB-C as all of the modern releases are using this standard (thankfully).

You can care for your character by feeding them a meal or snack, and you’ll even get to see further details thanks to the color screen including facial expressions! A total of 22 characters can be raised, including Amuro, Shuichi Kai, Kaito Kid, and Conan himself.

Preorders start on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024 on Premium Bandai Japan. They’re listed for ¥5,500 including tax and are set to ship September 2024.

Unironically my favorite Black Org member. You can really see a pattern with my tastes in characters from this can't you--

Why's he my favorite? Because in this super scary, hyper-competent group of bad guys where everyone is crazy smart, crazy skilled, and/or just plain crazy, in the middle of it all is JUST SOME GUY. Just a generic thug. You tell me for one second that Vodka is part of the Black Org because he's super dedicated to inventing immortality or whatever. I don't know how or why he joined the organization but I refuse to believe it's for that reason. He's here for the Mafia LARP and was maybe told he could become immortal as a kinda cool bonus. And the Black Org higher ups just shrug and give him all the grunt work no one else wants to do.

AND HE'S GIN'S BEST FRIEND SOMEHOW.

Genuinely love how close he is to Gin, reminds me of Yachiru and Kenpachi from Bleach if you know that one. This is the guy Gin allows to follow him everywhere and call him partner. This guy. This moron who almost gave his fingerprints away if Gin hadn't been there to stop it. I love him. Never change.

I don't know how I feel about Akai yet. I used to lump him and Amuro together in the "New characters I don't know" pile (new for me being "anyone introduced after the funimation dub ended") since they're so heavily shipped, but then I learned Akai was introduced super early and has just so much more lore, and I haven't decided how I feel about all of it.

I get the feeling I'm gonna come down on liking him? The more I learn the more I like. Mostly in that he's Unhinged, but in a super calm way. (As opposed to Amuro who is unhinged in an unhinged way, I understand why people ship them.) Whatever the hell was going on with Gin, calling him his "Darling Nemesis" and "Sweetheart"? Love it. Faking his death and deciding his new identity would be a dork that makes too much curry and lives in the Kudo mansion for Reasons (tm) and is also five years younger than he actually is? Love it. Being down to clown for basically anything Conan asks him to do (usually "Can you shoot this" to which the answer is always "Yes")? Love it.

I need him and Kogoro to interact. Pretty please. Gather all the shooters together, Akai and Kogoro vs Chianti and Korn. There's something there, c'mon.

Amuro seems to be one of those 'either love them or hate them' kind of characters, so I want to know your stance on them for the character bingo 😁

I am in Hate Camp unfortunately

'Hate' is probably too strong a word, I do kinda get annoyed seeing him since it feels like most of the time I'm able to find DetCo merch at a con or at a store, it's of him or Akai. Which-- once again, I do get why people like him, I feel like most people like him because of his dynamics with Akai and/or his dead friends. I gotta admit getting into a dramatic, gay little fist fight on top of a broken Ferris Wheel when there's Definitely More Important Things Those Two Guys Should Be Doing is pretty hard to argue against, that's good stuff

He has the Sera problem of being too many things for my liking. Maybe that's because I got spoiled on all his shtick from the start, where I knew he was an ace detective working under the Mouri agency + Black Org + in his own special good guy organization with like four different names to match. Which I guess is a cool concept?? Idk. I need more flaws. (Dropping everything to punch out Akai at a moment's notice doesn't count.)

I've only liked him when he's shipped with comparatively pathetic men, like Kazami or Kogoro. Love the idea of this triple-identity super spy who's good at everything and morally gray (kinda??) falling for the loser detective he makes sandwiches for, or his normie PSB partner. A real Connecticut Clark x Malfina situation.

for the character bingo, Haibara?

One of the best characters in the whole show probably, from what I've seen. The interplay with her and Conan is fantastic, I love their push and pull wherever the Black Org is concerned. Deserves All The Therapy when this is all over.

My one criticism is the movie writers had the nerve to write an entire CoAi movie for a ship that is decidedly never going to sail, which feels like a crime. Where's my NakaMouri movie that ends with them kissing, then Nakamori turns and kisses Eri in order to put the kiss 'where it belongs.'
