My darling Dolls AU
Prologue:
You admire and love dolls. You always walk this certain shop from school when your young.
You always gaze longingly at the beautiful dolls that are being sold and displayed.
Yet as someone who cannot afford much, those dolls are luxuries you can never own.
Yet even knowing that fact. It doesn't stop you from wanting to own one. That's why you save and save, from pennies to a few cents.
Maybe with those mere changes and money, you have saved your able to buy one, someday.
Even the dolls arent new, or branded, or even if they are broken or haunted. You want the doll.
That's why when there's a chance of having one thrown your way, even if it's from a shady street toy seller, you are quick to run back home to get your savings and brought the only doll in the stock.
It's a beautiful doll with dark purple hair that reminds you of the night sky and beautiful shade of blue eyes.
The doll have a nervous sharp teeth smile, as if not sure what to do while you stare at it with a wide happy grin.
There's a a bit of damage in the doll but it's not something you cannot learn to fix.
That's why you hug the doll lovingly and welcome the first doll to your life. Not even minding the words of the seller.
"Remember dolls can have a soul. If they love and care enough, they will gain a heart. Maybe one day with enough love they can become a human too. So little deary, take care of mayoi for me ok?" The seller says as he give you the doll
"Ok!" The young you replied happily to the seller. Not even knowing such fate have been created that day you choice to take the doll home.
As you play with the doll beside you, after fixing the small problem it has, the nervous smile becomes a happy smile as it turns its head to look at your sleeping form that hugs its soft plushie body. "Hello, my owner... I'll take care of you too... Even though I won't do much. In this state of mine but maybe one day I can do more..... So please continue to love me till that day." A voice spoke out in your humble room but you were too asleep to hear it.
Soon a singing voice that lullaby you to a deep sleep can be heard in the room, as your doll sing you a song of a phantom who finally found a home.

“i’m going to murder you” you sigh out on phone to your best friend,aira.
“trust me,i will make up ! ice cream ? lunch at your favourite cafe ? BABE WHATEVER YOU NEED” she practically screams in panic from the other side.
“i’m never helping you with mingyu again” you cry out cutting the call and texting with a “i’ll talk later everyone’s already here”
here you are,standing in a wide ass amusement park as a part of your college fun trip,without your bestfriend. your eyes wanders seeing everyone pair up as two. sighing you already had thoughts of leaving this place,if it was as easy.
you weren’t friendless,to be honest you were pretty popular. being the top student that wear hoodie every single day,too tired but helping classmates with their works. but you were just little too reserved and only spent time with your best friend,who’s very much unlike you. loud,happy,socialising,oh dear EVERYTHING you were’t. you often wonder how she even stays with you but thanks to her else you might’ve been rotting in the last bench on your classroom all day.
“you have none to pair up with” a little loud voice peeps beside you. you turn up seeing seokmin,the class sunshine. he was pretty much like aira but more brighter. you always wonder how someone could be as energetic at 8am in the morning,greeting literally everyone in the hall way. all eyes on him and he was pretty handsome too,with a good personality. its like he’s the other polar side of you. no wonder everyone loves talking to him.
“uh yeah..” you whisper out. you both aren’t friends,or enemies. just two people from the same class that exchange notes for group activities. nothing more,nothing less.
“do you want me to pair up with you ? i don’t have anyone either” you know it’s a lie. literally any girl or even guys from your class would throw themselves onto him.
pointing your finger to yourself,with eyebrows little raised “me?” you mouthed little confused.
“yeah..if you’re comfortable though.”
you simple nod walking with him to the ride. he talks,talks and talks. you were practically tired on his behalf of how much he talks. you don’t really complain. enjoying few small rides with his wide smile like a little child,oh love.
grabbing your hands he runs towards the roller coaster,your cheeks getting warmer,you aren’t sure if its because of the summer or him.
seated on the ride he raises his eyebrows “if you’re scared then just hold my hand. i don’t mind”
you chuckle as a response “sure sure”
oh how the tables have turned. he screams like no tomorrow,making your ears ring,his head leaning onto your shoulder,hands tightly gripping you while the ride goes fast. you smile to yourself seeing him scream like a child over a mere roller coaster ride.
as you both get away from the ride. “are you okay? seems like we switched positions” you giggle.
he was embarrassed but slid it with a “i was trying to give you a company you know..so you won’t be embarrassed to be scared” he says scratching his back neck.
you both slide into the photobook arena. trying on silly headbands,seokmin making you laugh little more with his silly jokes. he helps you wear one of those bands that you were struggling with,his eyes focused on your forehead,hands on your cheeks. you were technically burning over how close he was. you were sinking in him.
“PERFECT” he shouts enough for you to snap back. giggling and taking pictures “i’m going to treasure these” he simple blurts. oh.
it was almost 6pm. you were tired from all the rides unlike the man beside you,running around,trying things. it doesn’t annoy you,you makes you happier to be honest.
“seokmin…i’m so tired” you say resting your hands on your knees while you both sit on a bench. he takes his hand,putting your head on his shoulder’s side. “rest up. one last ride on the giant wheel then we leave miss ma’am”
you’re so amused on how calm he was while stirring up butterflies in your stomach. casually staying close,calling you pretty when your hair is stuck up with all the rides,fixing it,now making you rest on his shoulder. oh he has no idea. or maybe he does. or maybe because he’s so in love with y/n from his literature class for the past 2 years. or because his best friend literally forced him to make a move before he loses you. he’s as or even more whipped.
you both sit down on the seat on the giant wheel. it slowly starts moving up. eyes peeking out,seeing the lights of the park and the city. you smile so wide. maybe this time you were the child. “so pretty..” you almost whisper.
“right..so pretty..” he agrees. he knows he isn’t talking about the sky view,but the view infront of him.
you pull out your phone to take a picture of the lights,the pretty moon. moving your eyes to seokmin who was already staring at you and suddenly looking away. you were scared,scared that you would fall more. no way someone like him could ever fall for you. the sun would never peek up at the night darkness,will it ?
“can you click a picture of me”” he simply says. you nod while pointing your camera on him.
seeing him through your lens. he was too pretty under the moon light. brown hair falling little above his eyes,his perfectly angled with protractor god know how many degree nose,his eyes forming a crescent while he poses. you were gone.
“a-are these fine?” showing your phone,your head bumps when you both bend a little.
“ow- im sorry”
he chuckles staring into your eyes.
“y/n” you look up
“c-can i..can i kiss you?”
oh fuck. your eyebrows perk up,throat getting dry,you swear the whole town could hear your heart thumping so loud. you stare.
“i’m sorry if i made you u-uncomfortable” you see this man,with confidence plastered around his face stammering.
“n-no no” you almost shout’ “i mean no you aren’t making me uncomfortable and oh my- yes..you can kiss me” you look down at your feet,so nervous.
he slowly takes your chin on his hand,staring at you like you’re his whole world,getting closer. your noses bump.
he panickingly chuckles “sorry this is my first time”
you smile “its okay..mine too”
as he connects his soft lips on yours. it was very tender,like the clouds above your head. you start moving your lips and you realise all those books weren’t joking about how good kissing feels. he caresses your cheek while your hands rest on his knees. pulling out to breath he chuckles a “wow..” and kisses you once again,more softer,more lighter and ends it with a peck.
“t-that was so amazing” he breathes out.
you nod shyly avoiding all the ways to make an eye contact. you were a blushing mess and you know he could see that.
“i think i like you” you blurt and immediately putting your hands over your mouth after realising what you just said.
“you’re joking” he says.
you’re dead you think to yourself. maybe he kissed for the moment,just because of nothing. maybe he doesn’t like you back. maybe he thinks you’re weird for liking someone over a kiss. oh GOD.
“you think i spent practising every single day for two years on how to ask you out just for you to say you like me in a split second ? so unfair !”
you stared in disbelief “two years ?!”
“uh yeah..” he shyly said.
you sighed,laughed,relieved.
“so..we’re a thing now..?”
you giggle at him,how red his ears are.
“i think?”
the ride ends,he helping you get out of the seat and hugging a small hug as you get into your bus. maybe you have to thank your bestfriend for falling sick this time. maybe the sun does peek out during the night sky,for the morning.

Dandadan and its Ability to go Outside the Standard Shonen Battle Manga Tropes:
I love Dandadan for many reasons: insanely good artwork, wild situations, beautifully choreographed fight scenes, its ability to drop my jaw in some way every chapter.
But something that set it apart from most shonen battle manga is how it adds characters to its roster, and how it develops relationships between its characters through the use of Harem tropes.
After Aira's initial introduction into the manga, we see the first use of "comical misunderstanding" or "unlucky timing", where Momo sees Okarun on top of Aira outside the school. In most harem settings, this would be used to set up a love triangle, and keep the main pairing away from actually developing romance. But Dandadan instead uses it as a springboard into another action filled arc: the Serpo Arc that happens in their school.
More supernatural hijinks ensue, and so many wild and crazy "even in context this is insane" situations occur that wouldn't be outside of a wild Harem manga situation. But what makes Dandadans use of these tropes different is how it subverts them:
By the conclusion of the arc, Momo asks for an explanation of the initial situation that kicked off the arc, and Okarun speaks honestly: He was trying to train to become stronger for her. And Aira herself, instead of sticking to her popular girl schtick of talking smack about Momo, admits to an entire group of classmates that *she* was the one who made up the lies about Momo. Dandadan subverts the harem tropes and uses it to develop their characters relationships.
At the end of the Serpo arc we meet Jiji, Momos childhood friend and "first love". The tone of everything in Jijis debut makes the audience assume that this will AGAIN be the introduction of a love triangle that stunts the growth of the main pairing. Except this time it will be Okarun and Jiji fighting over Momo.
But the well already begins to be poisoned in the next chapter: Jiji is a huge goofball. Its not out of the well of possibility that a love triangle might happen, but it subverts tone and establishes Jijis personality.
The next few chapters continually set up the potential triangle, and starts up the events of the Cursed House arc. We see Okarun clearly uncomfortable with Jiji and Momos relationship, and is rapidly falling for Momo. But during the bus ride to the Cursed house, we see Okarun and Jiji begin to become friends. And their interactions together when Momo leaves to relax at a hot spring deepen their friendship, and everything culminates upon the fight between Okarun and Jijis transformation: the Evil Eye.
Okarun is not only enraged that Evil Eye for hurting Momo, but for taking Jiji away from them.
"give him back! Give me back my dear friend!"
And then Okarun proceeds to double-fisted uppercut the Evil Eye 20 times into submission, capping off one of the best fight scenes in manga.
But all of that was just to subvert the love triangle, at least initially.
After the arc, Jiji is a part of the group, and Aira comes back to help with dealing with ANOTHER harem trope: multiple personalities that trigger from hot/cold water, a classic trope started by Ranma 1/2.
Specifically, the Evil Eye that is inside Jiji. This entire arc serves to deepen character relationships, and drive character development. But while it simmers the love triangle, its never diminished: Okarun still feels nervous that his friend will overtake him as Momos male love interest.
But as always, it serves to deepen the relationship between Momo and Okarun instead of stunting it.
It always struck me how relatable all of this was. Throughout all of these wild and crazy "it could only happen in a manga" situations, the solid foundation of character relationships always shines through as a driving factor to the manga. These teenagers actually act like teenagers, they interact as teenagers. And its the main reason I'm still so attached to these characters.

The beginner's guide to the Pretty Series
With the recent announcement of the new Pretty Series installment titled Himitsu no AiPri, it's about time the Pretty Series returned after over a year since the Waccha PriMagi! series finale. In celebration of the newest installment, let's take a quick history lesson about the Pretty series.
The Pretty Rhythm Saga (2010-2014) - The Pretty Series saga began on July 15, 2010 with the arcade game titled Pretty Rhythm Mini Skirt. Made by Takara Tomy and developer SynSophia, this arcade game pits players in the role of Prism Stars, performing Prism Jumps, and collecting Prism Stones.
While the one that started it all made a slow start, the folks from Takara Tomy wanted to do more with the Pretty Rhythm saga, and with that, a TV anime titled Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream was made. Aired in TV Tokyo on April 9, 2011, for 51 episodes, this anime is the fruit of Japan-Korea collaboration thanks to Japan's Tatsunoko Production and South Korea's Dong Woo Animation. The TV anime is all about Aira, Rizumu, and Mion in their quest to take on the prestigious Prism Queen Cup.
As Aira Harune's journey to become Prism Queen is completed, Mia Ageha takes the baton as the star of the next Pretty Rhythm story; Dear My Future. Aired in TV Tokyo on April 7, 2012, for 51 episodes, Dear My Future centers on the rivalry between Prizmmy☆ and the K-Pop group PURETTY. Believe it or not, there are real-life versions of the groups as seen in the anime. There's even a live-action segment featuring Prizmmy☆ as well.
As Mia Ageha's road to Grateful Symphonia is well and truly over, Naru Ayase steps to the spotlight in the third and final chapter of the Pretty Rhythm saga, titled Rainbow Live. Aired in TV Tokyo on April 6, 2013, it features an original storyline unlike the previous two. It's about Naru, An, and Ito, who are working together at the Prism Stone Shop while trying to take good care of a mysterious girl named Rinne.
Although the Pretty Rhythm saga ended, the story continues with the KING OF PRISM spinoff films featuring male characters from the Pretty Rhythm saga. They even got a 2019 anime show as well showcasing the rise of the boys who would be Septentrion.
The PriPara saga (2014-2018, 2021~) After the end of the Pretty Rhythm saga, the folks of Takara Tomy prepped up what it seems to be the second generation of the Pretty series. It's called PriPara and it aired on TV Tokyo in the Summer of 2014 and lasted for three seasons, four if you count Idol Time PriPara of course. This anime series centers on the life and times of Laala Manaka, a little girl who wants to be the best PriPara idol. Together with Mirei Minami and Sophy Hojo, they became SoLaMi Smile and they fought their way against the best idol teams of PriPara, especially Dressing Pafe consisting of Dorothy, Reona, and Sion, Tricolore, and Gaarmageddon, among many others. PriPara is a huge win for the people behind it and such success prompted the show to spawn four movies and outrageous merchandising rights.
In the spring of 2017, the next chapter of PriPara begins with three new main characters penning the final pages of this saga. Titled Idol Time PriPara, it's all about Yui Yumekawa, whose fateful encounter with Laala Manaka changed everything following an accident. With Nino Nijiiro and Michiru Kouda joining alongside, the MY☆DREAM trio made the best closure to this saga.
Although the PriPara TV series is finished, the story continues with Idol Land PriPara. First announced in December 2020, it was originally slated to be released in the spring of 2021 until it became subject to long gestation and delayed launch dates. It was released on August 17, 2023. It is the second official PriPara app game after the defunct PriPuz puzzle app game. This app game also features an original anime series set moments after the events of Idol Time PriPara. It introduces new characters such as Amari Katasumi, Mario, and Pololo, among others.
The Kiratto PriChan years (2018-2021) - Aired in TV Tokyo since April 2018 for three seasons, Kiratto PriChan is set in a world where fame comes from social media just like in the real world. It's about a group of girls who called themselves the Miracle☆Kiratts who are striving to become the best PriChan idols above the rest. For three seasons, we watched Miracle Kiratts taking on big challenges such as heated competition with rival teams such as Meltic StAr and Ring Marry, the jewel idol competition, saving the world, the road to the Queens Grand Prix, and saving the world...again, while they do what they do best; showcasing the world that they're the best PriChan sensations ever known.
PriMagi (2021-2022) - Waccha PriMagi! is the fourth installment of the Pretty Series that revolves around the lives of Primagistas striving to become the best of the best. The show is about Matsuri Hibino, a middle-schooler who dreams of being the best just like her idol, the legendary Jennifer Sumire Sol.
AiPri - After over a year of void, the Pretty Series has returned with the newest installment coming to TV Tokyo this April 2024. Titled Himitsu no AiPri, the new series stars Minori Fujidera as Himari Aozora and Sae Hiratsuka as Mitsuki Hoshikawa. For the first time in Pretty Series, the animation sequences were provided by OLM, the studio behind the Pokemon and Yo-Kai Watch anime series, while South Korea's Dongwoo A&E returned to cooperate for it.
Welcome back, Pretty Series! The world can't wait for the franchise's comeback show this April.

From one secretive person to another you RARELY let people come into your room; not as much when it comes to Mayoi but you always take precaution. Why? Because you don't want him to find the huge shrine of him under your bed. Postures, cards, pictures, even a lil kuromi-mayoi music box you would play on repeat when you're alone. Whenever you go home you throw your school work on your desk and roll under your bed to fawn over the grape-loving idol.
I have a feeling he has one for you too
I feel like he wouldn't find out for a LONGG time, and that would be the time you slip up. No he won't be rummaging through your room like the 'disgusting weirdo' he claims to be but respects your bedroom and treats it as if he's in a museum. He slightly brushes his body with your lamp? Console the poor man until you convince him he didn't ruin anything with his touch. Please.
Then he finds his kuromi-mayoi pluch sitting on your bed, pristine as ever. At first sight EXTREMELY flustered and embarrased, while you're just like:
"oh, that? yeah, it's my favorite!"

When you watched Alkaloid's Live? There it was, strapped to your chest like a baby.
He hated feeling inferior to a stuffed animal. He didn't like it- all the poor man could do was wail into Tatsumi's shoulder in the wing as Hiiro and Aira stared at him worriedly and confused.
They told you and you immediately consoled him, saying that it was like having a little part of him on you all the time. But whoa, somehow he got bold.
"Then what about I stay with you at all times?"
Couldn't complain to that.
So that led to him bunking in your bedroom for the past week now, not leaving your room unless you took him out on a date. Call it obession, I think it's cute :>
