I watched "Milkmaids" and it was so disturbing, I literally had to skip a few times.

Also watching Thomas being disgusted on eating a heart while Michael was always eating is was quite funny.

Thomas Brown really said yes to being a feminist but no to being lesbian.

I heard from a reliable source that I’d probably like season 2 of #AmericanHorrorStories better than the first season and they were right! I dont even have words explain how i felt abt the roller coaster of an ep e9 of yj was .... My one thought was that i had a pit in my stomach the moment the concept of mood changers was introduced and at that one scene? Reminded me of Creamerie* and i was so tense something like tht wouldve happened

(until rn when i looked it up i misremembered tht the name of the show was milkmaids i guess bc bc of the ahstories episode)

I'm really glad that this season didn't use the weird fungus thing as some metaphor for AIDS. I'm also glad they waited til the last two episodes to start introducing it and letting it escalate. The first hour we've got an in-depth look into two of the main characters going through their deaths.

The last hour, we see Gino's and Adam separately and in their own ways press on despite the brutality around them. I think Gino's pov was really effective, especially the scene where Big Daddy is shown with two automatic guns and mowing down Gino's entire staff. The imagery really hits nicely.

And when Gino finally falls into the grave where everyone else is, it's nice to just let him rest and not draw it out like Sam or Patrick's death. It's a quick cut to his funeral (open casket, not like Patrick's who literally kept him in the closet by closing the door on his casket) and we see Adam who we've seen over the season become an activist and a journalist because of the death of his friend in episode one. I'm glad we end the season with him inhaling before giving Gino's eulogy. We don't get the exhale or the eulogy which I think we can interpret in so many ways.

So, not a typical weird and clumsy ending but something that is tight and satisfying. The whole season was different but that's the bread and butter of AHS. I'm really happy to see that Our Lady J was given writing and directing time for a full season (in AHStories I think she only did Milkmaids and, as far as I can remember, that's her first adventure into AHS and it was queer too). Our Lady J is HIV-positive, transgender, and non-binary and I think a lot of this season's success can be credited to her. Crossing my fingers that she becomes an AHS-regular on the writing and directing crew.
