a/n: i haven’t written in a while, but i’m so excited for you guys to read this one! please feel free to request!

it was your first day working on television, and you would be making your new television debut on aew dynamite. when you found out about the position, you were instantly stoked, and had graciously taken the opportunity.

as you walked into the location for where dynamite would be taking place, you felt your phone buzz inside of your pocket. you had received a message from your new boss, tony kahn reading,

“hey y/n! happy first day, stop by my office on your way in. see you soon!”

right on time, you looked around, trying to find where his office was located. the backstage area would take some getting used to, so many people you had seen on tv before, wandering around.

you turn your head when you hear, “hey, you lost?” looking up, you see a wrestler that you recognized, smiling softly you nod, “was it that obvious?” you questioned. “i’ve never seen you before, so i’m assuming you’re new. which would explain why you would be lost.” he added. “then you would be correct. i’m the new interviewer here! my name is y/n.” you added, allowing your hand to move out to shake his hand. “ricky starks. we’ll probably work together at some point, nice to meet you. so, where do you need help finding?” he questioned. “tony kahn’s office, he told me to stop by, then i obviously got lost.” you said, smiling softly. “no problem, follow me.” he said, leading the way.

once you arrived, you thanked him, and knocked on tony’s door, waiting patiently. “come in!” you heard him say. you walked in, looking around. “oh, y/n! my newest addition to the team. i’m so excited to meet with you again. please, have a seat!” he explained, as you closed the door behind yourself. once you sat down he began explaining to you the plan for tonight’s interviews. “i know you may be nervous about being on live television, but i can assure you that i hired you because i know you can handle it.” he explained. “i believe in your abilities, and i’m sure you’ll do great tonight. that being said, your first interview will be in about two hours. so be ready in the backstage interview area in about an hour, the hair and makeup team will be ready for you. good luck tonight, y/n.” he said, smiling, as he placed his hand out to shake your hand. you nodded, shaking his hand, then thanking him, “thank you so much! i promise i won’t disappoint you!” you stated, as you got up.

once you were out of his office, you breathed softly, before heading to the hair and makeup area. once you were finished, you headed into the locker room area, to get changed. you smiled at your completed appearance before adding your own signature bows to your hair.

once you were finished, you checked the time as you had finished right on time. you headed to the backstage interview area, which luckily wasn’t too hard to find, and found the crew waiting for you. “y/n! nice to finally meet you. we have heard great things, and we are excited to get started. our show just started airing, so you will be on soon. your first interview will be with hook, not sure if you’ve met him yet, but we really need you to be able to get a word out of him. he’s hard to crack, so no pressure, but do your best.” said the crew member, before grabbing his clipboard, and handing you a mic. “any questions?” he asked, you shook your head, all good.” you explained. “great! your interview is on in a minute, and oh! great hook is finally here! let me speak with him.” he said, walking in the other direction to where he was, before another crew member approached you, “y/n, you’ll start and then we’ll have you introduce him.” the other crew member added. nodding, you hear, “we’re live in 3-2-1!”

“ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time, hook!” as you turned you looked up to see a much taller figure. you didn’t realize how handsome he was, not only on screen, but even more in person. you felt a bit nervous, as your cheeks heated up, but remembered your profession, and pulled it together, “now hook, last week you were attacked by jack perry. with him challenging you, do you have any response to the challenge he has placed in front of you for the ftw championship?” you questioned. looking up at him, smiling softly, as you awaited an answer.

he looked down at you, with his typical gaze, you didn’t expect an answer until you heard him begin to speak, “i’m not afraid of-“ you heard his voice cut off, as he was attacked from behind by jack perry, who had pushed you out of the way quickly. once hook had saw the way jack had pushed you, he instantly started brawling with him, and you stepped aside. the brawl ended with jack getting into a car yet again, and the cameras cutting off.

the crew member came up to you once it was over, and smiled widely. “great job y/n. you did really well handling your first backstage brawl. didn’t look overly scared either. you even got a word out of hook. nice job! next interview is in thirty. so, take a break, and be back then.” he said, before walking away.

you let out a sigh of relief, as you sat down on one of the chairs nearby. as soon as you had sat down, you heard footsteps coming behind you. “hey.” you heard behind you. looking up, you see hook, who you had just interviewed. “hey! sorry i didn’t move out of the way quicker.” you chuckled, as you got up to shake his hand. “i’m y/n!” you explained. “hook.” he said. “so, i heard you don’t really speak often, what made you do it today?” you questioned, as you smiled. he looked down, cracking a smiling in response before saying, “you just had that effect i guess.” he chuckled, before adding, “no, but honestly, i wasn’t expecting a new interviewer. what more someone who looks like you do.”

you tilted your head, as you thought for a second. “what do you mean?” you questioned. he smiled, shaking his head at your confusion, slightly amused. “let’s just say, you made me nervous.” he said, before looking at you. “here.” he added, as he lifted his hands up, “your bows got kinda messed up.” he smiled, as he walked to each side of your head to fix the bows that had turned crooked after moving quickly during their brawl. you smiled widely, as he finished. “thank you.” you said, as he nodded.

you checked the time, noticing you only had about five minutes before your next interview. “hey, i have to go for my next interview. it was really nice to meet you.” you added. he smiled, before questioning, “wait, when will i see you again?” he questioned. you chuckled, before replying, “you know where to find me.”
