Today, while researching aerial photography, I found this phenomenal photograph taken by George R. Lawrence. It shows the aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Lawrence used a large-format camera that he designed with a curved film plate to take the panoramic view. He used kites to lift the camera up to 2,000 feet into the air to capture the image.
