What a pity we didn't get to see more of Walter Blythe and Alice Parker's adorable friendship/kindergarden love...
Quotes are from Anne of Ingleside:
"If it had not been for Alice Parker Walter might very conceivably have turned and fled.
Alice was seven; Alice had the loveliest little ripples of golden curls all over her head; Alice had eyes as blue and soft as the violets in the Hollow; Alice had pink, dimpled cheeks; Alice wore a little frilled yellow dress in which she looked like a dancing buttercup; Alice smiled at him as if she had known him all her life; Alice was a friend."
"Alice said nothing. She just looked admiringly at Walter and her look enabled him to bear up when all the rest chanted together, "He says his name is Walter," and then burst into shrieks of derisive laughter."
"It was so terrible that for one awful moment he was afraid he was going to cry before them all...even Alice, who, however, gave his arm such a friendly little nudge as they sat down that it helped him."
"How would you like to be pinched black and blue?" demanded Andy, who had made up his mind that Walter was a sissy and that it would be good fun to tease him.
"Pig, hush!" ordered Alice terribly...very terribly, although very quietly and sweetly and gently. There was something in her tone that even Andy dared not flout.
"'Course I didn't mean it," he muttered shamefacedly."
"You stop fighting," said Walter. "You're scaring Alice."
Bill and Andy stared at him in amazement for a moment, until the funny side of this baby interfering in their fight struck them. Both burst into laughter and Bill slapped him on the back.
"It's got spunk, kids," he said. "It's going to be a real boy sometime if you let it grow. Here's an apple for it...and no worms either."
Alice wiped the tears away from her soft pink cheeks and looked so adoringly at Walter that Fred didn't like it."
"Walter was not sorry to see them go. Neither apparently was Alice. They sat down on an apple log and looked shyly and contentedly at each other.
"I'll show you how to play jackstones," said Alice, "and lend you my plush kangaroo."

god like. the funniest thing about adaine abernant to me is that she is sooooo petty. she is so deeply capable of being a mean bitch. she used to be chronically anxious but she’s medicated now and that was the only thing holding her back from being born a hater and dying a hater. she loves her friends and the supportive environment that her new family gives her but this is also the same character who at fifteen years old (deservedly) told an incel he sucked multiple times over to his face and sent her sister who sucks to elf prison

i know some ppl can see katniss as the strict parent, but it has never came into my mind. have you seen how easy she can be w prim? have you seen peeta in cf? strict personal trainer extraordinaire ??!! katniss would look right into her kid’s face- connect something w peeta like her daughters blue eyes or her sons face and would go ‘okay-just don’t tell your father this- please. i don’t want you in trouble my little ducks’ ! allowing them to get away w it. not to say peeta wouldn’t be a fantastic parent- he would just be the more strict on w rule and routine

i don't think bakugou is that kind of useless dad that can't do anything without you helping him, but i do like the idea of him being a slightly frazzled new-ish dad 🥺
katsuki decides to take the baby with him on his run to the grocery store because you deserve a break, however small, and everything is fine, honestly, like. he can handle it.
but he is standing in line to checkout and there is drool on his shirt and his hair is a little messed up and sticky from being tugged on and he's got his items in one hand and baby on his hip.
your little girl has entered into that phase where she just likes hearing herself make noise, so she's clapping her hands together and just babbling, sometimes too loud, so loud that it attracts attention.
and katsuki is sort of bouncing her a little bit to keep her from getting squirmy, mumbling, "yeah, dah dah dah dah, i know," right to her ears only, giving curt nods to any of the older ladies in the store that coo over the sight of them.
