How it starts…. I draw the outlines of the shapes in crayon on the canvas. Then I choose 4 or 5 oils to work with. This is the first draft. I hang it so I can see it from afar. I don’t stare at it. I just get a feel for what is roughly right about it. Now for stage two. Adjustments to shape. Rehang. Relook. And then more colour consideration in stage 3.
