Stop using Adobe's programs

So far @adobe has been proving that they don't care about artist or creatives. Especially since they have started to use AI generators in not just their programs but marketing too.

Also their so called opt out option for their AI generator, hasn't been working. Artist have been coming out with proof that their work was still being used. Even though they opt out and on top of that all Adobe did to fix this was pay the artist. One artist was only paid around 300$, for their entire portfolio and remember this work will be re used as long as this program is still going. So to me that's a pretty unfair payment, especially since they opt out.

As far as I know of only one artist who had this issue got their work "supposably" removed from their AI generator. On top of that it was a popular artist (Loish). So it seems if they did do this. It was because the artist had a big following.

For those who do want to leave adobe here is a list of options. All programs that can replace any of Adobes.

I start every morning with a cup of coffee. What about you? Coffee or no coffee? Tea maybe? Or, are you a purist water only drinker?

I created this image with an actual photo of a coffee that I purchased one day. The photo was a close-up of the cup, taken vertically on my phone. I then used the Generative Expand and Generative Fill AI tools in Adobe Photoshop to create a square crop and add the sugar cube pattern and pink background. Asking again because no one actually responded last time. So the problem people have with AI art is that it's stealing art to train, right? So something like Adobe Firefly that uses its own Stock photo library and doesn't steal art to train should be ok to use, right?

I genuinely cannot draw backgrounds. I have an art degree and have been drawing for 20+ years. I want to use this as a tool to complete games I've been working on, but I don't want to be stealing art from other artists. I'm only using it on backgrounds, with my own character sprites and other assets in the foreground.

Anyone that says "just learn to draw scenery" is missing the point that I said I have an art degree and have been drawing for 20+ years. You think I haven't tried to learn in that amount of time?

More Magic Stuff

Alright look, I love Fallout (those who know, know) but, personally, I like my MTG magic-themed. Slowly with my relic proxy set, I want to tell a bit of a story of a grand war, it should become clear once all the cards are out. Some orders this year will get, randomly, this alternate promo in-universe Caesar instead of the previously shown Sheoldred. Glory to the Legion, may The Relic War never end!

Currently working away on my new series of proxies that I'll be showing off more in detail as this month and next month come around. This specific card is a promo that will be given out to orders at my Etsy shop this year, as supplies last.

Been using Adobe Firefly and specifically datasets of older images (public domain, copy-free, abandoned, and stock images) as the Art base for the card illustrations (everything besides the base art is made from scratch by me since my focus is being graphic designer and art director). This has been going well but requires a lot of repainting, which at first seemed daunting, but now is getting pretty straightforward.

Lucille, the Last; is a proxy of Caesar but made to be more magic-in-universe. It relates to a larger set of proxies that Ive been tinkering with.

Also... I got some of them new tokens out now over on TokensForMTG, but it's okay you do not have to get any, I just wanna show 'em off here. We have the new Adventure set, for example.

There are also other tokens too. These ones are 80s anime-inspired.

Also been working with a local artist friend of mine on some proxy sets, here are the first drafts but we will be revising them to be a bit more IP-free and more in line with my current series of proxies, among other things. Going to be deprecating my Amaranth Alchemy branding over the next month and will be moving onto using mostly just my Artist name as my prime brand. baerthe.com now exists, but just redirects right now. Been working on a new website using a NextJS, going well, hoping for sometime next week to get it up (itll have the new card gallery!!)

Adobe firefly not ethical??

A heads up too anyone who uses Adobe's AI generator stuff or to anyone who did think it was ethically made. Turns out it wasn't

Turns out it was trained on Midjourney images. A 'relatively small' amount of 5% still amounts to literally millions of images and as we all know Midjourney images are made from stolen data.

So no Firefly wasn't ethically made, this also explains why artist who did "opt out". Still saw their names and traces of their work in Adobes AI generator.
