You'll never understand the pain I felt when I thought for a second that the evil king in Princess Diaries wasn't John Rhys-Davies but F. Murray Abraham.

The commentary from Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis on the Blu-ray version of "Insurrection" is genuinely one of the funniest things I've listened to.
Highlights include:
Marina openly admitting she hasn't watched the movie since the premiere and constantly asking things like "What's that? What's he doing? What's happening?" and Jonathan just patiently explaining the entire plot to her.
“And I played Commander Riker, Picard’s big Willy.” -Jonathan introducing himself
*regarding the non-regular actors in alien makeup* Jonathan: “They didn’t know what they signed up for.” Marina: “I know, poor things.”
constant dragging of their costars throughout.
Marina: “Who’s idea was it that Patrick sing?” Jonathan: “Michael Pillar (writer)” Marina: “Really? Had he ever HEARD Patrick sing?”
"Patrick managed to get his shirt open again, he's got his guns out."- Jonathan
*regarding Worf's Klingon pimple* Marina: "What is that pimple on his face?" Jonathan: "It's a gorch, Marina! Listen to the dialogue!"
Calling Picard "Cappy", Brent Spiner "Brento", Worf "Big, dumb, stupid Worf", and F. Murray Abraham "Fmurr"
"Lookin' a little shiny there, Patrick. Was it a hot day?"- Marina
*silently watching the Son'a ship fly through space* Marina: "...Well that's not the Enterprise."
*regarding Data* “He’s so smart. He knows things.”- Jonathan
*watching Data emerge from a lake* Marina: "Why's his hair dry?" Jonathan: "He's an android." Marina: "Why's his costume dry?" Jonathan: "He's an android."
Jonathan, groaning in disgust at a scene with some children: "This is cloying."
Wheezing fits of laughter throughout
If you need a hefty dose of serotonin injected directly into your brain, I highly suggest watching this. Plus, if you listen closely, there are even some interesting tidbits about the production of the movie.

F. MURRAY ABRAHAM’S unexpected departure from Mythic Quest last year ahead of the Apple TV+ show’s third season stemmed from sexual misconduct complaints, Rolling Stone has learned.
The 83-year-old’s exit was announced last April with little explanation other than producing studio Lionsgate confirming the news regarding the Oscar-winning actor. “Beyond that, we do not comment on matters concerning personnel,” the studio added. Abraham did not comment at the time.
But Rolling Stone has learned that at least two concerns were raised about Abraham’s behavior. The first incident resulted in Abraham being given a warning and told to keep away from some of the show’s actresses, according to a production source. After a second incident was brought to creator and star Rob McElhenney’s attention, Rolling Stone understands that Abraham was let go from the show.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Lionsgate said, “We take allegations of misconduct seriously and investigate them thoroughly. As a matter of corporate policy, we do not discuss our personnel actions.” Abraham did not return requests for comment, nor did McElhenney, the show’s other creators, and lead actresses.

Hey did you also watch Cabinet of Curiosities on Netflix and go, "well that was a mixed bag, but The Autopsy ruled"? And are you horny as hell? This week on Cracked Spines, me and Cyrus get weird about alien anatomy, body horror, possession, helplessness, adaptational choices when putting a short story on screen, and specifically how high and tight character actor F. Murray Abraham is keeping it. Would not recommend this episode to anyone who doesn't want to hear two freaks objectify an 83 year old human man and also an evil space squid.

The Magic Flute (2023) has such Moon Knight vibes. I’ve compared these two stories before -- a vengeful ruler of the night sends the heroes to take down a cult leader, with Ancient Egyptian motifs -- but this movie also shares the same themes, visuals, and even actors:
F. Murray Abraham! He’s the headmaster in Magic Flute and Khonshu in Moon Knight.
Ancient Egyptian-looking temples
A castle in the Swiss Alps
Desert landscapes
Dramatic use of moonlight and tilted angles, for characters associated with the night (Queen of the Night and Khonshu)
Cult leader who wears red (Sarastro and Arthur Harrow)
The hero switching involuntarily between his two identities. One is meek and shy, the other is more more confident and heroic. I think Tim=Steven Grant, Tamino=Marc Spector
Themes of grief/loss
Themes of fantasy vs. reality
The story begins in the UK
The hero’s arc begins with him losing a family member

My personal ranking of the Cabinet of Curiosities episodes...best to least favorite... I don’t think there’s a bad episode in this series, it all comes down to taste.
1. The Murmuring
A strangely beautiful ghost story that deals with loss and grief...very moving and still had some effective creepy moments.  I feel like if you’re going to watch only one episode of the show and don’t want to get too scared, this is the perfect one to watch.  Essie Davis and Andrew Lincoln both give terrific performances.
Tumblr media
2. Dreams of the Witch House
An odd tale about an adult man searching for his twin sister after she died as a child.  The witch’s makeup is unbelievable and there’s a strong emotional core between the twins.  There is one thing that made me go “what?”, but I chalked it up to being an HP Lovecraft story.  And it was nice seeing Rupert Grint in this...I’ve always said he was the strongest actor of the trio and it’s nice seeing him show some range (which reminds me that I still need to watch Servant).
Tumblr media
3.  Pickman’s Model
You have Crispin Glover in your spooky story and you’re halfway home.  Are his paintings haunted?  Or possessed?  Or is our protagonist just losing his mind?  And Ben Barnes with that mustache was actually giving me Omar Sharif vibes...
Tumblr media
4.  The Autopsy
It’s nice seeing F. Murray Abraham in things again...I really like his character and the story is really interesting and creepy...it really only gets a downgrade for me because alien stories aren’t my fave.  Though the design is really good and there were a couple moments of gore where I yelled at the screen.
Tumblr media
5. The Outside
It’s interesting to see how many people disliked this one...but I thought it was a really interesting social commentary/body horror.  Thankfully, the body horror moments didn’t go as far as I thought they would...and the main actress was really great!
Tumblr media
6. The Viewing
I LOVE THE WAY THIS EPISODE LOOKS.  The cinematography and lighting is incredible...sadly, the story didn’t go the way I thought it would...I thought it was going to turn into a “kill or be killed” scenario...but I really enjoyed the bulk of the episode where they’re all just sitting on that circular couch.
Tumblr media
7. Lot 36
Some interesting things in this one, but it’s just not the strongest episode for me.  I will say, I had forgotten that these are short stories, because it ends basically at what would be the end of the first act of a full-length movie...which is effective storytelling, I will say.  And I have to give a shoutout to Elpidia Carrillo...a character actress who I’ve seen in a few TV shows/movies and she is a fantastic actress and I want to see her get more work.
Tumblr media
8.  Graveyard Rats
Definitely not for you if you don’t like mice or rats...or if you’re claustrophobic.  But I like that this episode is basically made up of character actors that you’ve seen in small roles over the years...it was nice seeing Julian Richings, who Supernatural fans probably know as Death.
