My ACNH Villagers random headcanons and tidbits
Lobo
Tumblr media
He always says that he's an old man, but in reality, he's not even middle aged yet: he's only 38.
When he was younger, he was a Marine and quite proud of his service. He earned a few medals, got to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and was a Drill Instructor for his last 2 years. Afterwards, he became an MMA fighter.
Getting him to open up about his military experience is a bit difficult, but he'll talk your ear off about his time as a professional fighter.
Being a Marine plus being a professional fighter put a lot of wear on his body. He may be 38, but he feels like he's 55 with all the damage done to his body.
He likes Bam a lot because of his fitness-oriented lifestyle. Although, that blue deer could use some more discipline and be a little less arrogant.
He'd be happy to help push Bam to his physical limits and even teach him some new things like some martial arts or boxing.
Bam
Tumblr media
One of the younger villagers on the island at the age of 24. Don't let his youth fool you, he does have some decent knowledge and wisdom under his belt.
Fitness is all day, everyday bro. Asking Bam to not do something physical is like asking him not to breathe.
His old job was being a trainer at a gym. He knows the value of fitness and encourages everyone to be their healthiest.
He's a very hands-on kind of deer. Whether it be building, catching bugs, fishing, that's the kind of thing he loves to do. Learning anything new, it has to be physical so he can learn it himself.
He's a huge connoisseur of sports. Football, soccer, baseball, basketball, hockey, and even motorsports, you get him talking about sports, he will not shut up.
He sees Lobo as a great friend of his and got the old wolf back into the realm of exercise, which was easy. He thinks that Lobo is a bit stuck-up but that he means well.
Pashmina
Tumblr media
She's a bit younger too, but a little older than Bam at 27 years old. She's been around the block quite a few times and is almost as wise as Lobo.
She used to work at a diner as an assistant manager, but despite this, her cooking skills are average as she used to be part of the wait staff.
Because of this, she's very kind and caring towards other peoples' needs. But with her experiences in waitressing and management, she doesn't take crap from anybody.
She won't hesitate to fight anybody who hurts her friends. Whether it be physical or emotional, she doesn't care.
She likes Lobo a lot; both of them are stubborn and headstrong. At first, she hated his guts though. Pretty much the same story with Bruce.
Also enjoys talking to Sherb who is pretty much the island's therapist.
Sherb
Tumblr media
He's the youngest on the island at 20 years old. He's a bit naive but he just wants to see everyone be happy. He doesn't care who they are, he just wants to spread smiles.
Hasn't worked a serious job in his life yet. He's done some part-time work though in his teens before moving to the island.
Out of all the residents on the island, he's the best cook out of all of them. His parents taught him how to cook incredibly well, and he wants to be a chef at a good restaurant someday.
He loves talking about and even catching bugs. If he isn't being the island therapist, you can usually find him looking around for some kind of bug to catch.
Out of all the villagers, he's the most partial towards Vesta. She's incredibly nice to him and he sees her as a very close friend which also enjoys his cooking.
In many ways, he's the polar opposite of Lobo and Bruce. While they're more stubborn and callous, he's docile and kinder.
Vesta
Tumblr media
Out of all the villagers, Vesta is the oldest at 48 years old. Even being almost 50, she knows the most about computers compared to anybody on the island.
Her old job was working in I.T. and she had been doing that for the last 25 years before she finally retired a few years ago, earning her pension.
She decided to come to the island to enjoy her retirement, and living on an island colony sounded like the perfect opportunity to unwind.
She's best friends with Sherb, but also views herself as a motherly figure. That boy is too naive for his own good.
She gets along best with Sherb and Bam, but is a little biased towards Lobo, Bruce, and Pashmina. She just thinks that they're too stubborn.
Generally supportive of everyone on the island. She is a bit of an old-fashioned lady and has her own line of thought on how people should behave.
Bruce
Tumblr media
Bruce is older than Lobo but younger than Vesta at 42. He's a bit opinionated when it comes to advice and often gives unsolicited advice.
He means well by it but doesn't really understand that people don't always want his advice.
Before leaving to go to the island, he was a night club bouncer. He had to be mean and tough to scare off would-be troublemakers at the establishment.
Behind all that tough persona, he's really a nice guy who wants to enjoy life. He's getting older so his mind is on the horizon with things like retirement and family.
Growing up and living in a big city for most of his life, he's used to a lot of noise, but the island is a nice change of pace.
He gets along with Lobo, Bam, and Pashmina the most. The rest he is neutral towards for the most part.
Beau
Tumblr media
Beau is a part of the younger crowd on the island at 25. He's a simple man and enjoys some good relaxation, no matter what anyone says.
Before he moved to the island, he was a full-time college student, and recently earned his degree. While he may be smart, he isn't the most mature.
His choice to move to the island was because he just wanted to have some time to relax. At this point, he doesn't even care if his career ever takes off.
He likes Sherb the most because Sherb also enjoys relaxing, but he isn't the biggest fan of Bam who constantly pushes him to be active.
Despite him being a laid back college student, he gets along well with Bruce, that street-smart ex-bouncer.
As long as people aren't pushing him to do what they want, or what they think he should do, he doesn't really care.
Audie
Tumblr media
Audie is in the middle of the group when it comes to age, being 30 years old. Despite no longer being in her early 20s, she still likes to party and have a good time.
Before she came to the island, she was a DJ going all over the place playing music. Even a party animal like her needs some peace and quiet.
She heard that coming to some deserted island with some other strangers would be a fun experience and she was immediately down to try it out.
She gets along with everyone else besides Lobo and Bruce. Those two just find her to be condescending towards them and also a bit annoying.
Out of all the villagers, she vibes the best with Pashmina, as both love to just gossip to each other about things that come to mind.
No matter what, Audie is just here to have a good time and try to spread some good vibes.
Phil
Tumblr media
Another middle in the age group at 33 years old. He is a bit of a cocky bird that loves to boast.
Before coming to the island, his job was being a baseball player for a Minor League team, his dream career.
He came to the island because his contract wasn't renewed, and he wanted some time away from the baseball diamond. A getaway on a deserted island sounded perfect.
He gets along with pretty much everyone, and doesn't cause any problems either, despite his somewhat egotistical nature.
Out of everyone, he tends to hang out around Bam the most. The both of them love talking about sports, and Bam loves that Phil was a baseball player.
All around, Phil just wants to enjoy himself as much as he can. He spent a lot of time on the road as a professional athlete and was in dire need of a break.
Savannah
Tumblr media
Another in the younger crowd of the villagers at 22 years old. She loves to meet new people and experience new things.
Before coming to the deserted island, her main job was being a tour guide at a nature preserve. She loves the outdoors a ton.
Getting to explore new environments was what drew her to the island in the first place. Having just the opportunity to do such was more than enough for her.
She's fine with everyone on the island except for Lobo, Pashmina and Bruce. She thinks that they're too pigheaded and doesn't care much for them.
She and Vesta get along the best. Having another villager similar in personality to her is all that she needs.
You can normally find Savannah going around the island exploring and trying to find new things. She also frequents the museum and eagerly awaits new arrivals to see.

100 days of productivity // day 17
learned how to use some of the sound recording tech at work that i didn't really understand
had a really useful therapy session - going in i felt awful, going out my problems felt manageable
made a 'screen-free menu' - a little list of things i can do when my energy is low that don't involve just scrolling on my phone. i wish i could just get rid of my phone but unfortunately that's not how modern society works
not in a great place rn so i ordered food for dinner that made me feel like shit, and played acnh again lol
read about 50 pages of my book

Hiii! that sounds fun
i do not unfortunately. does your island have a theme? if i still regularly played ACNH i would take your flowers, but i rarely ever do anymore
i'm not doing great atm but i redownloaded genshin a few days ago and have been obsessively playing that. it's very fun :) i left off on inazuma so i have a Lot of catching up to do. i made a new account, but i do still have my old one.
^ fun fact i know basically the entire fontaine map from watching videos, but i have zero clue what sumeru looks like because i never actually got to that point in-game. i will be excited to see it when i get there. apparently the archon quest is like 50 years long
nodding. idk if it does... i just kinda keep it very natural? there's a lotta flowers and trees and cliffs and stuff :3 very relaxed kinda vibe !!!
ooo genshin... i have not played that in many an eon.. i'm glad you've been enjoying it !!! (i left off after finishing inazuma and just haven't continued... and then uninstalled it bc i needed space to install baldur's gate 3 ^^;) i hope u get all the characters you want <3

okokok so in animal crossing there's a mechanic that is referred to as the "stalk market" by fans. basically every sunday a character (who is a boar! bc everyone is. animals) comes and sells you turnips! it's gambling btw. and this boar (joan in the older games, daisy mae (her granddaughter!) in new horizons) sells you turnips for a random price ranging from like... i think 50-120 bells? (the in-game currency is bells btw)
and then the shopkeeper (either Tom Nook in the older games or Timmy & Tommy in the newer ones) will buy those turnips back at a random price ranging from abt 70 bells to up to like, 600-700 if you're lucky!
so. me and my cousin both have new horizons. and we were on a cruise and bored as shit... so begins our PLAN
we time travelled (changing the time/date on our switches) to various days + times to find a low turnip buy price (which was on my island i believe, i had like... a 50 or 60 bell buy price?) and a high sell price (her island, we got like... 600+ bells i think)
and we spent like five hours just buying and selling turnips. i have like 15mil bells in acnh bc of it. we manipulated the stalk market to get indefinite profit <3
like we literally only stopped bc BOTH our switches were gonna die. we could've kept going for longer. but it was just this constant back and forth of "buy, sell, collect my half of the profits so i can buy more, buy, sell, collect" and we did it for. hours <3
i applaud you because that's literally so smart. i never wouldve thought to do that. at all

Last couple Dreamsnaps The Fashion Week was "Dapper Delights" which made me think of Dapper Day. It said for early 1900s and that combined with Dapper made me want to either aim for the "1920s/1930s" (due to that being Early Disney) or "1950s" (due to that being when Disneyland opened). I picked the Minnie Mouse dress because it reminds me of dresses from the 50s and it was the obvious choice of the Wall-E clothes and the dress from the theme banner. Use the Filter because while the Black and White or Sepia toned filters would have worked better, its a Fashion challenge and I figured people would still want to see the colors of the clothes. While this was the photo I've done the most research and put thought into (Except for this last week "Fun in Fall" I tried and tested so many outfits and spots...my photo folder is growing by the day), its also the photo that has scored the worst...OH WELL, I STILL HAD FUN! The Decor Challenge was "Critter Love" so I showed off my little critter corner by my house. I spiffed it up to fit fall a little bit better (and because my favorite Critter is the Wind-Up Raccoon from last year's Halloween Star Path. His name is Gurgi and he's a menace).
I would like some new poses now though. I wanna sit on benches or on the picnic blankets in photos. I am tired of use the same "no pose" pose every fashion week...Let me interact with things in the photos. I got so spoiled with the photo mode in ACNH....

dni meme but it’s only things that actually apply to me
dni if you had blue hair and pronouns at some point, actively hate brushing your teeth, read homestuck but never finished it, got rid of your harry potter merch solely because of JKR’s views, have played over 500 hours of ACNH, have a dog even though you’re allergic to dogs, have a mullet right now, still own a Wii, had blonde hair when you were a kid but it gradually got darker as you got older, have completed a 1000 piece (or more) jigsaw puzzle by yourself, hate the smell of coffee, have a bachelor’s degree, genuinely enjoy watching soccer, have had a job as a summer camp counselor, have eaten frog legs, own more than 50 stuffed animals, winter is your least favorite season, drink Dr Pepper every day, have never left your home country, enjoy watching political youtube, have more than 5 tattoos, had a green bedroom as a kid, have never seen The Godfather, prefer doing laundry to doing dishes, and have a partner who was born the same year as your sibling.
25 possible :) lmk in the tags

welcome to celestica!
well, celestica has been my island for about six months now. but once again, i am starting over. i’ve had acnh since the day it came out and this is probably my third or fourth island 😭 oh well.
the thing is I’ve never completely transitioned to acnh. been playing new leaf for so long, i have more experience with new leaf, and i hardly really played new horizons. i want that to change because i know new horizons is an amazing game just like new leaf, and more people have a switch nowadays.
so yeah, today is my first day on the recreated celestica island. my old island wasn’t super developed anyways. my house was fully upgraded but the rest of the island was lame. i saved about 16 million bells, 50 nook miles tickets, and a bunch of cute clothes and brought them over to my friend’s island. ill have to pick those up sometime, but other than that I am starting fresh. i even forgot to save fruits from my old island so gonna have to start fresh with those too. it’s gonna be fun though. i have a lot of goals for this new island, and I’m excited to share them.
for now this blog will be focused on my new horizons island, but i will probably be reblogging other animal crossing content, and maybe even post some personal stuff since I don’t have a personal blog. however in the future I kinda wanna make another new leaf town (which would be so much easier since I have multiple DS consoles and multiple copies of the game lol). maybe I’ll even play pocket camp again. i also kinda wanna explore some older animal crossing games since have every animal crossing game except for the original GameCube one. animal crossing has been an on and off hyperfixation of mine for many years so I really want an outlet to talk about it :)
finally, one of the bigger reasons I made this blog is to hopefully meet some new mutuals who play animal crossing. if you play new horizons or new leaf, feel free to message me. i will follow back any & all animal crossing themed blogs. any support is appreciated: follows, likes, reblogs, etc are helpful to my growth. i will try to be active and post at least once (hopefully multiple) times per day.
anyways, congrats if you made it this far. i write a lot lol. but yeah this was just a sweet little introduction, more interesting posts are coming soon 💗

thoughts about totk
i dont know if its just me, but does anyone else feel like the story direction for this game is kindve ... bad? like the actual plot itself was interesting at first but everytime the characters try to deliver a serious line of 'my secret stone' I can't help but laugh at them. It sounds like a mistranslation you would see in a 90's port of a game, not a multi-million dollar triple A title in 2023.
Not only that goofy nature of it but like, why is Zelda so british? No one else is, not even her dad. Why did they chose a VERY british direction for her voice and no one else? It's so distracting and every time she talks I don't pay attention to what she's saying cuz I wish she would just stop talking. (I still hold a grudge over her for feeding Link a fucking frog and then people have the audacity to be like 'oh theyre in love' like no thats fucking sibling behavior at best.)
There's so many aspects of the game where it feels like they want a very specific series of events to happen and there's a very intended player experience. But then... you can go anywhere. Do anything. You can EASILY miss important things (I missed several of the Dragon's Tears because I wasn't aware there was something I was supposed to be grabbing from them I just thought it was scenery) and you can easily find yourself in areas you're not meant to be in yet. "Just teleport out!" Why didn't they just make a linear game that wasn't built as a wanna-be DLC expansion pack?
Having to re-explore a world I'd already put 200+ hours into is frankly tiresome. And to make it THREE TIMES as large??? Exhausting.
I wanted to like this game so much. I preordered it. I went to the midnight release. I played it for six fucking hours the first full day I was able to play it. And after leaving the Great Sky Island all I'm left feeling is... frustrated.
Frustrated at the unclear, hidden direction of where you're supposed to go. Frustrated at the massive size of the map that doesn't have That Many Changes to make it worth going through the nooks and crannies. Frustrated that they turned botw -my favorite climbing simulator- into a gimmick-based game that doesn't like you to use its own gimmick.
The constructs break apart too easily. If you build a flying construct that works well it breaks after about a min and a half of flying. If you build a car to traverse the land it despawns if you hit any cutscene trigger - which are often invisible and unavoidable.
This felt more like a Zelda game in the general flavor of it; you get the classic enemies back, you get actual bomb flowers again, Link is wearing green for fucks sake, and you get actual temples. But the actual heart of it doesn't feel like a Zelda game. The plot feels sloppy at best, rushed at worst, and the voice acting is so genuinely bad it's distracting and embarrassing. The only voice actor I didn't hate was Rauru (Chris Hackney, Legend) and Tulin (Christina Vee, also a Legend), even Sidon felt incredibly stilted.
It feels like the game punishes the player for using the mechanics it gives you to use and play with. Even the fuse mechanic feels like such a back-hand. "Oh we heard the players got frustrated at weapons having a limited usage, so instead of extending it or offering a repair service, we just made Every Weapon Shitty" like wtf. And even for the fuse mechanic theres only ONE PLACE that lets you unfuse and it's through a clunky dialogue menu! (my favorite!!! totally not the reason I stopped playing acnh!!!!) I played for 50 hours and was positive you couldn't unfuse weapons. Wow.
botw was fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it and the fact that your tools were simply on a cooldown. totk feels like a resource-scavenger except the resources are so hard to actually acrue. Not only that, but I've seen other ppl complain about how much harder it feels to upgrade your equipment. As if they needed some way to bloat the game even more.
This is just me rambling about my feelings and maybe talking in circles about it but I feel annoying trying to actively discuss my feelings with anyone so I guess this will do.
I've only beaten half of the bosses and 3 of the temples, but I don't know if I'll be able to keep going. I got stuck at the fire temple boss and I would argue its the worst temple in the game and I haven't even gotten to the Gerudo one. That's just how strongly I feel about the fire temple. I hate the minecart layout, I hate the lava puzzle mechanics, and I literally rage-quited after my 10th attempt at the boss. The water temple boss was annoying but it was mostly just learning patterns and having good reaction time. The fire temple boss is JUST rng.
which sucks cuz the wind temple was sick!!!! it was so cool!!! and the boss was probably one of my top 20 bosses!!! and then I did the water temple and Sidon kept glitching out and wouldn't accompany me for half of the trip up to it, and the GRAVITY!!!! UGH!!!!!!
I'm trying to think of points of the game I've truly enjoyed and I think the highlights of it have been: got to keep Epona from my botw save. But then that turned out to be a nothing burger since you can't have her tow anything. (also the fucking towing minigame that feels so insulting. "please take us to the great fairy!" YOU COULDVE JUST WALKED ITS LITERALLY A FIVE MINUTE WALK)
uhh, other good points uhhh, the new armor is pretty cool. I really like the Ember and Miner set. I really like the cave system. (shouldn't really be a feature but whatever) and uhhhhhhhh, yeah idk. I'm struggling to find points I truly enjoyed past the introductory level. like yeah building a car is cool! ... until it despawns and you lose 40min and work, and yeah I know autobuild can rebuild it but I'm not made of spare parts. And like, the korok puzzles were cute! Until you find one every 15 min and they take at least 10 to get them to their friend.
I think the most enjoyable minigame was the one with the sign dude on the side of the road where you help him hold it up. That was one of the better, more enjoyable parts of the game for me so far. It felt like it actually tested your building skills while not being truly punishing. Just start over if it doesnt work.
botw was a strong like 8/10 for me, and I think totk is gonna unfortunately be like a 5/10. The direction is janky at best. The gimmicks of the game are viable for most of the game. Exploring the same world with minor changes is frustrating and boring. Exploring the Depths makes me want to personally throw up since I have a phobia of dark, open spaces with Things lurking inside. Exploring the sky is fun but I didn't realize you could *reuse* the sheikah tower until 45 hours in because why would I think it would let me do it again??? So it felt inaccessible and frustrating.
The ability to fuse anything to anything and have it run and work well is a technical marvel! I'm not saying its not. But does it make a good *game*? Does it make the story direction work? Does it make the boss fights and dungeons work? imo... no. It doesn't. It makes a good tech demo. It makes an impressive piece of programming.
maybe i'll have more thoughts but I just needed to get all that out.
if you read it all thanks if not you wont be seeing this lol

you're into pokemon what other games you really into?
well i already talked about zelda the other day, and my username gives away that im a bioware fan (fan feels like the wrong word - no one hates bioware more than its players), so i like rpgs and fantasy/scifi games too. and obviously i like animal crossing lol my play time in acnh alone is... in four digits. lets not talk about it. ive been playing them ever since wild world and had hundreds of hours in ww and new leaf.
and of course i loved stray, but idk what genre that even if. i also generally like basebuilding/crafting/farming/fighting games (idk what to call this genre, just that it has all those things) like astroneer, stardew valley, garden paws, minecraft, etc. i'm really excited for coral island to come out and i hope i like it as much as i think im going to.
okay this final thing is kind of out of left field, but i really like mystery, puzzle, and hidden object games too. There's an app (for ipad at least, but i assume for phone too, though it would be tiny) called "Murder in the Alps" that is about... murder, in the alps, and you find clues through hidden object scenes to slowly discover who the killer was as you go through the game. they have a bunch of "episodes" so only the first two feature alps-related murders. i think its set in like 1940 also? actually the hair is 1920s. so probably then. when the game first launched the main character's hair was a 50s style that was totally wrong and i guess they got feedback on that because they went back and changed it between the alps arc and the italy arc. anyway you play as a female journalist who reports on crime among other things but also keeps stumbling upon investigations by happenstance. it's pretty much the only app "game" that i play (i dont think things like pictocross really count as games)

Skeleton Island ACNH Day 5
Hornsby moved in! Yay!
Nook advertising the 'customization workshop'
Thats it for the news
Got my ordered shit in the mail
Bought a Mr. Flamingo and K.K. Hypno from Nook Shopping
Then bought a vertical board fence recipe with nook miles
Also I found a website that allows you to plan out your island layout, this is what I have, its a bit messy but I think you can pick up what I'm putting down here
Tumblr media
Went to Nook's, bought a corkboard, hose reel, tin bucket, beige blossoming wall, and a stand mixer
We got a bridge now! Thats fucking awesome
Sheldon gave a recipe for a wild log bench, fuck yeah, and a bottle gave me a recipe for 'large cardboard boxes' Yay.
I found Redd then I went to his dumb shop and bought the Statue of David from him, real, and then I also bought a fan palm from him
Then I did Tom Nooks workshop, forced me to gather wood for the wardrobe, I found Harvey while gathering the wood, John Lennon dog, anyway for some reason regular wood became 50% more rare now that I needed it
Anyway, got the wardrobe, made it dark wood, and thats about it
And Nook doesn't have anything else for me to do today so I guess what we'll be doing for now is just waiting for the other villagers to move in and for the community center to upgrade

played fae farm during the trial week on switch ... the npcs are made of cardboard and there r some weird bugs and quirks in the game but i had a good time. may or may not have gone a lil insane and completed the whole story and made it to almost the end of summer year 2
gonna write out some thoughts
one of the weird quirks is that u can't name ur character. they will just simply be named after like ur steam or switch or whatever profile. unless u make a phoenix labs account then u can change ur name that way, but if u go offline at all it switches back to the profile name until u log in again (pause > multiplayer > login button; u don't have to actually do multiplayer just log in). very annoying when i do not like to play as myself in these games & also just a strange decision in general imo
character creator is decent but i would recommend going to the voice selection and hitting "silent" before actually getting into it LOL the noises the character makes get so annoying after a bit... the pronoun selection is nice (he she or they) & u can go back into the character creator using a craftable mirror so u can switch all that stuff up whenever u want
the storyline was cute; not exactly deep but the artwork was neat. i liked all the rhymes and the storybook-y feel. the sprites have nice designs. wisp mother should be a romance candidate but she is not
gameplay felt nice; i liked the auto tool switching and the double jump a lot, & having spells and potions that helped with farming was cool. very light on tutorials but if ur experienced with the genre its not too hard to figure out (idk how it is w/o experience bc i cannot un-experience things). having year-round plants that u use magic fertilizer on to change them into seasonal varieties was funky
animals are pretty quirky and a lil buggy. sometimes i would try to water a plant or something and a chicken would teleport to me from across the farm and get pet. or they would just wander away from the Sign That Is Supposed To Keep Animals Near It and get in the way. fences cannot stop them they will simply walk thru it. also in my experience my cows and sheep would stop giving milk and wool if i didnt enter the barn the day before, even if they had food? weird lil quirk there but once i figured it out it was fine
u can pretty much ignore the animals and their affection will still go up & theyll still produce things as long as u feed them, and also the only punishment for not feeding them is they don't produce things. very forgiving. something i thought was really interesting tho that they dont actually point out in game is that petting ur animals gives u some regen on ur stamina and magic and probably hp, which is Super handy and a neat mechanic that got me to continue paying attention to my animals anyway
decorating ur house with specific furniture gives u a "cozy home" bonus; basically this is how u increase ur hp/mp/stamina, which i think is also a pretty neat lil mechanic
also flower breeding is a mechanic. 6 types of flowers, 6 different genes, 12 unique colors. works pretty much like acnh but also u can breed 2 different types of flowers (so like a rose and a tulip) and u'll have a 50/50 shot at getting one or the other. i got almost every color and i will be haunted by the white zinnia until i have an actual copy of the game. also the genes are actually displayed in a lil tooltip when the cursor is over the flower which is really really cool and good and i love that feature so so much it makes everything so much easier and less frustrating
the game doesnt tell u this iirc but crops and flowers can be moved if u go into the uhhhh build mode. like u can just pick up a whole plant and move it wherever. very handy for both flower breeding and just organizing things in general. u can just pick up and move almost anything, & if u can't u can tear it down and get all materials back. u cannot do either thing to a crafting station that has items in it though u have to get the items out first if u want to break it down or move it
flowers r very important if u like customization also. u unlock 2 color palettes (a grand total of 6 colors) automatically and u have to buy the rest. most of them cost like 30 of a particular flower + some other item + money. u can recolor furniture and outfits with ur unlocked color palettes which is nice
combat was fine, bonus points for the potion of i just want to mine please don't perceive me. also bonus points because there is actually a storyline reason for the monsters to be there; always hate it when a game is like "videogame... have combat. videogame Must have combat. i put monsters in cave. now this is a real video game :)" like nah tell me where those slimes came from. in this case the monsters are objects animated by wild magic and they have cute designs and goofy lil names like cannot (a cannon) and skello (a cello)
there are 3 dungeons in the game & the latter two have funky lil puzzle mechanics. if u aint like that then theres things u can make to skip most of em. i thought they were neat & being able to remove them pretty easily meant they didnt overstay their welcome. they also require specific potions so u don't like "die" (get teleported out of the dungeon, which is also what happens if u lose all ur hp) which would probably be cooler if pausing the game would pause the timers on the potions. i assume that sort of thing is because the game was made with multiplayer in mind; this is presumably also the reason why having anything pause time at all in singleplayer was added in an update after launch
(pausing also does not pause monsters. they will murderize u with the pause screen up. on switch u can just go to the home menu 4 a proper pause at least)
the npcs are as mentioned largely made of cardboard; most of the ones u can't befriend (most of the merchants) have the same pool of lines, and the ones u can have a few personal lines and a bunch of lines referencing things uve done in the game even if its been like 10 years since u did it (common in the genre). there are no events with the non-romance npcs or interactions between any npcs except for like some animations; every conversation witnessed is an npc talking to protagonist. the only events are the dates with the romance characters, which are just them and protagonist sitting around and talking with absolutely nothing happening. the dialogue is cute at least
romance npcs' statuses will sometimes get stuck for some reason (this happened to 2 of them when i played) but that i think should be fixable with the "reset relationship" button, which is a pretty cool feature (tho my understanding is it's also a bit buggy sometimes so ymmv)
festivals are just decorations in town and a shop in town hall (including the fae festival, which one would expect to happen in the fae realm). characters have a few unique lines referencing the festival. sometimes they reference... the Wrong festival. goofy lil oversight i think. birthdays are on the calendar but have no impact in-game
marriage is also very nothing; u get a cute wedding scene and then ur spouse just vibes around the farm sometimes. there is no dialogue about this. also other romance npcs' relationship status change to "past sweetheart" or something like that and u cant progress with them at all since ur not allowed to be friends with them
gift giving is also only for romance npcs and each one has a random item that is the only thing u can possibly give them that day. but like talking to them gives good enough points regardless
job quests (questlines related to each skill u have, given by npcs related to that skill) are neat lil "challenges" but u can only pick up one at a time for some reason. weird design choice imo. they give u a hat for doing all the quests and an outfit if u do all the quests And some 100% requirement (like getting every crop at least once for the farming quests, making one of each polished gem variety for mining, etc) which i think is pretty neat
overall i think i would compare it to story of seasons: pioneers of olive town (particularly in its initial state) in that the npcs are very nothing but the gameplay loop is very good and fun; between the two i would say fae farm has the better story tho lol
