i LOVE how much you can see edgeworth's influence on klavier. klavier talks about finding the truth the way he does. klavier helps find the truth and doesnt look to win like he does. klavier doesnt treat defense attorneys like the enemy like he does. edgeworth took the long way, learning for himself what being a good prosecutor means and how the court should work then ensured the next generation didnt have to.

i’m craving soft langworth content so bad right now (be warned this is kinda long)
first date where neither of them quite know what to wear, but they look at their respective wardrobes to figure out what might appeal most to the other. lang ends up wearing a button up (with all of the buttons done) and a nicer blazer, edgeworth ends up also wearing a button up, but with significantly less buttons than usual done. they realize that they both had the same idea when they meet up for their date, and realize that they both had the same idea. any nerves they had are forgotten when they realize they each had the same silly idea
miles is still a little nervous though, afterwards. he’s not quite sure what shi long’s intentions are, he’s never really dated before, and isn’t sure what level of intimacy is expected from him. as time goes on, he notices that he’s never felt pressured into anything, or felt like lang has had any sort of expectations of him. lang has seemingly allowed him to take the lead, in an unspoken way that edgeworth is very much grateful for
after a few years, there’s a period in which the distance in their relationship begins to be harder to stomach than it was before. they’re getting older, and they both travel so much that they rarely get to see each other in person. it’s not an issue with communication, but simply not physically being with the other. then, edgeworth decides to finally settle down in LA when he’s promoted. because of this, there’s a period in which they break up, not because they don’t love each other, but because their careers don’t allow them to be together and much as they need to be. they think it’ll be easier for both of them if they’re separated, but plan to stay friends in the future. they’re both heartbroken because of it.
and then, a few months or so later, shi long walks into edgeworth’s office one day, unannounced. he asks him out to go somewhere for coffee, and while they’re there he tells edgeworth that he too is ready to settle down. he didn’t think he was, 3 months ago, but now all he can seem to think about is having a place to come home to, the same place to come home to every night. and he wants miles to be a part of that home. miles is glad they picked a corner booth, away from windows and other customers, because he’s seconds away from crying the entire time, and when lang tells him that he’s ready to settle down (with him) the dam breaks, and he just can’t hold it in any longer. it’s a friday, so edgeworth takes off the rest of the day as well as a few days into the next week to spend at home, catching up with his partner.
they take turns making dinner for each other, depending on which of them will be home latest. lang’s cooking is more adventurous, which can lead to some of the best food they’ve ever eaten, or something so bad they need to order takeout instead. edgeworth is better with comfort food and the classics, finding recipes for dishes they both enjoyed when they were younger and tweaking them over time to taste just like they remember them. but sometimes cooking is hard, and they get home late with too little energy and end up on the couch with microwave dinners. they like complaining about them more than they like eating them, but it’s the company they like the most
and if langwrightworth is your thing (i know its mine): edgeworth comes to lang one day, absolutely terrified to ruin what they have, but knowing that keeping this a secret would be much worse than just being honest. he tells lang that he’s in love with phoenix, too. maybe he’s suspected he has had feelings for his friend all this time, maybe he just realized it. lang asks first if that means if edgeworth wants to break up, for good this time. miles feels his heart drop to his stomach, but manages to explain his feelings in more detail. lang thinks there’s a pretty obvious solution here (his partner has two hands, after all). he’s met phoenix plenty of times through work and social gatherings, and if there’s any other person on this planet that he would trust to be with his partner in such a way, it’s him. miles cries in relief at hearing this, and resolves to ask phoenix to dinner next weekend to see if such an arrangement would be something he’s interested in.

He is descended from wolves, from curse-breakers. There may be no family lessons to teach him how, but he will find a way. HIS way.
When he swallows down something that by all rights should kill him, and his lawyer looks at him with shock and dismay, he realizes two things very quickly.
One: Dahlia never cared about him one bit.
Two: He can eat curses.
Sure, he has to go to the hospital almost immediately after the trial, but he’s otherwise physically safe. (The doctors call it a miracle, he remains quiet.) And as soon as he’s released from hospital care and the detention center, he redoubles his efforts to find an old friend and throws himself into law.
He doesn’t yet realize that while he somehow manages to land on his feet after he swallows that first curse down, those around him aren’t so lucky. After all, how is it that Mia becomes his mentor, sees him through his very first trial in court, and is killed so soon after by that damned statue his friend made? He swears to bite down on whatever curse is looming over the Fey family, he swears to save Maya from it, no matter how long it takes for him to swallow down every bite.
(And there is so much more to swallow down than he expected.)
He faces down the curse on Miles, fifteen years later in the dead of winter. It writhes and chokes his friend in a desperate bid to remain right where it is. He ignores its struggle, and he sinks his teeth in deep. He clashes against Von Karma, he pushes and rips away at every piece of obfuscation meant to frame Miles for murder twice over. He gulps and gulps and gulps until the air is clear and the curse is no more.
Miles Edgeworth is Not Guilty.
Phoenix Wright digests a curse.
Maya returns to her village. Miles’s car holds a dead body, with his knife buried in it. Steps are carefully taken to mismanage the trial so that Miles will be forced to take the fall for its mismanagement. He grits his teeth and claws anew at the threads and machinations of a curse trying to take his old friend yet again.
(He begins to worry that he’s done something wrong, and also something he can’t begin to take back.)
He can’t put it into words, but curses taste different. They react differently as he snaps his teeth into them. He only has so much space inside him to digest these curses, but he can’t stop protecting the ones he loves once he begins. He still has one very important curse ahead of him.
He’ll suffer injuries, he’ll take any backlash as the writhing curses fight back, he’ll do anything except let go. He’ll grab the neck of the Fey curse and drag it into himself bite by bite. He’ll do it, thinking of Maya and Pearl and Mia, of those who have been harmed by the curse and who have done harm in the curse’s name.
He’ll take the curses into himself, and give up everything to see them digested into nothing.
(He doesn’t know it will take nearly a decade to do so.)

You know what I just realized
So Spirit of Justice came out in 2016 near the end of the 3DS’s life span.
Ace Attorney thrived because its core game mechanics (not counting the GBA era games from Japan) heavily relied on the mechanics of two consoles from Nintendo. Yes, it’s possible to play these games on other consoles, but you don’t get that same experience as you did in their original format. I never played an Ace Attorney on in its original format so I don’t know what that experience feels like. I played the original trilogy and the Sholmes games on PlayStation and the remainder of the series that is available to the West (I do plan on getting around to playing Investigations 2 at some point) on mobile.
The PlayStation experience is alright because the graphics are an inherent glow up, but in my opinion, the best, most current way to experience the Ace Attorney games is through mobile. You don’t need the dual screens, just having the ability to play via touching the screen is sufficient enough.
Now here is the depressing realization. It’s been almost 7 years since a brand new AA game as been released to Western audiences. All other new entries have been either remakes or ports. The last new game for Japan was in 2017 with The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve, almost 6 years ago.
Everyone wants AA7. I want AA7, your grandma wants AA7. However, as I see it, because of the simplicity of Ace Attorney game mechanics, but it shouldn’t be difficult to make a new game.
Unless they completely overall the system and mechanics entirely so the franchise can survive on future at-home consoles OR they stick to the mobile market where the game is currently the best and current experience. The most recent release to the West for Ace Attorney as far as I can tell, was the original trilogy to mobile which was a year ago as of yesterday according to Wikipedia. Which makes me ask, why the three year gap between EVERY OTHER PORT of the original trilogy and THEN have this disclaimer on the App Store?
My point in all this is my hopes for AA7 ever coming to fruition are slim to none due to Capcom and the whole project got canned

Due to searching up some information, we might be getting Ace Attorney 7 soon
I did some digging and found out that back at the end of 2020, Capcom had a massive data breach where a handful of projects got leaked including the following: RE4 remake, Street Fighter 6, Dragon’s Dogma 2, and AA7.
The prior three projects have already been announced/released as of this year.
Capcom does not give specifics on what was let out, so all I can find about this specific list of games is from old articles talking about AA7 speculation and the leak. According to this roadmap, supposedly the main production phase of AA7 was supposed to begin around October of 2021.
This is just my speculation (like all the other game articles), but depending on how much of the main game mechanics have been overhauled (if at all) or if they’re just making Ace Attorney with a glow up, it will most likely be later at the end of this year or sometime around this time next year and might be announced during Capcom’s biggest round of game release announcements.
I could be 100% wrong or I once again have the deduction skills of Sherlock Holmes and gift of prophecy from Apollo.

An FF14 post before I plunged back into Ace Attorney hell:
Imagine the last banquet but the WoL challenged Teledji in a fair trial instead of running away. As in, like, actual law-based trial with evidences and fucking UPDATED AUTOPSY REPORT, not the one with fighting and all.
Given that Lolorito already had something in mind (if the WoL and the Scions didn't ran away, that is), I'd like to think that he'd support the decision despite Teledji's protest. His only reassurance to him was "let's see them flounder a little before we actually throw them to jail/execute them".
I know that their support isn't as much as they have in the endgame, but given their connections with smallfolks and some higher positioned figures, I'd like to think there were helps from outside despite Teledji and some traitorous Crystal Braves' hinderance. Fuck, if the WoL did Hildy quests, Briardien might help with their investigation while Gordbert would vouch for the Scions (provided the WoL shows him enough hard evidences that they didn't kill the Sultana).
God, imagine two timing as a Warrior of Light AND a Lawyer.

ATHENA CYKES (ACE ATTORNEY)
1.) Despite supposedly being the MAIN CHARACTER of the game she was introduced in, she somehow still always ends up playing second fiddle to Phoenix and Apollo, to the point where she isn’t allowed to take the lead on even so much as a single case. Instead of the senior lawyers standing to the side in a mentorship role like they do for literally EVERY OTHER PLAYABLE CHARACTER, Phoenix and Apollo keep stepping in to outright take over for her. She literally does not make it through even a single case without needing some male character or other to swoop in and hold her hand every step of the way, not only Phoenix and Apollo but once even Blackquill, her rival prosecutor, as well.
Why? It has nothing whatsoever to do with her competence level. It’s a video game; her competence is determined by the player’s, just like everybody else. It seems like the writers just couldn’t STAND the thought of her doing anything on her own, or thought that the players would walk out en masse if it wasn’t the Phoenix and Apollo Show every second of gameplay. (And yeah, it DOES sometimes take me some time to warm up to new characters, but that was the case for Apollo too! At least give me the CHANCE to judge her on her own merits rather than assuming that I’ll immediately write her off!) Like, why did you even WRITE this character if you think so little of her?
2.) WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN. She’s introduced in the middle of a male characters “trilogy” (Apollo justice) so the story is never about her. She appears in aa5 only to NEVER headline her own case IN HER INTRODUCTORY GAME and always fail unless a man comes in and saves her. Her own story is sidelined for Apollos. Next game, she only really appears in one case that’s a throwaway and still can’t do shit on her own. Ugh. She deserved to be treated better, more competent, etc.
3.) my girl is an attorney and a practicing psychologist at age 18 (youngest defense lawyer in the series) & is often shown to be more competent than her male colleagues, and yet is constantly pushed out/sidelined/generally treated like an assistant character rather than a lawyer (the assistant position in these games is usually reserved for characters who don’t have law degrees/are generally not educated enough to understand the courtroom proceedings to their full extent. athena is none of those things but she gets treated the same way by the game because. well. we know why.) Instead of being the main playable attorney in her debut game, the story is taken over by her male colleague (WHO ALREADY HAD A WHOLE GAME DEDICATED TO HIS BULLSHIT BTW) & her development is ignored in favor of his in both her debut game AND her second game. Even when her backstory IS explored it’s done via a male family friend of hers, meaning even when her OWN story is being told it’s not even about her it’s about simon’s lame ass. for extra context here in her debut game she is only the playable attorney in one case out of five, while the other (male) playable attorneys were playable in all or all-but-one of the cases in THEIR debut games. capcom hates women sooooo bad
KOTORI MIZUKI/TORI MEADOWS (YU-GI-OH! ZEXAL)
1.) first: ygo zexal is directed (and partially written) by known misogynist shin yoshida who is on record as saying that he would Never write female characters if he wasn’t being forced to by higher-ups. kotori’s voice actor signed a legal contract forcing him to include her character in Every Single Episode. she gets no duels that aren’t tag duels (2v2 duels), one of those is interrupted in the middle and all others she both loses, aren’t even shown in full, and all happen in the same episode. she is literally contractually required to be a major character and the dude in charge still point blank refuses to do anything with her despite the fact that she’s supposed to be the female lead of the series. please take pity on her for being handed to one of the worst people in the world and how despite the active attempts by other people to make her relevant in the story she was still denied that
2.) She only dueled once in the whole show and it was when she was brainwashed. Her main role is to only cheer the male protag on and say his name during his duels I guess.

i write fics occasionally. i draw a little more often.
recently figured out what the fuck was wrong with me and it turns out its everything. me and my friends played a game of "what disorder do i not have according to internet quizzes" and the only thing i failed on was narcissism. so. officially though its adhd and autism (also potentially some kind of anxiety disorder although my psychiatrist added that under her breath so). which. explains a lot.
i hyperfixate on something for either 5 days or 5 months. as of writing this its ace attorney but it could easily change in 3 days.
i have an ao3 and you can pry the link out of my cold dead hands (i think i posted it last year)
im aroace and, like every aroace i've ever met, the persona 5 protagonist is the sexiest man i can imagine
i mostly post my art but i also dabble in insane rambling and random things i noticed in games i like
my favorite game of all time is slime rancher. if you ask me at any given point in time ill say its whatever i last played but. its slime rancher. thats the consistent one. persona 5 was pretty good too. professor layton vs phoenix wright is up there too
my birthday is homestuck day and i found that out when i opened tumblr on my birthday and was bombarded with homestuck fanart.
