It's walking home with a mask on because every single condo and floor apartment in your neighborhood has Ring and you don't know what that means for you yet.

It's thinking about talking to a PR person just in case your recurring nightmare of your mental breakdown in the parking lot suddenly going viral comes true, hoping against hope a professional knows the magic set of words that will mitigate the harassment, stop you from losing your job.

It's that reddit post of the Sikh woman who found her and her mustache on the frontpage, forced to turn public humiliation into a teaching moment. It's some jackass redditor posting a couples photo, ostensibly to mock that his fly was down yet 70% of the comments target his girlfriend's appearance. It's seeing a top reddit pic with a headline demonizing a person in it months after you saw this same pic taken down after mods discovered op was lying. It's a lot of reddit.

It's wondering how many times your face has been posted online and if it was in a positive context at least.

It's that this is all normal, that so many of these things feel neutral to individuals, not a risk they're taking on behalf of a stranger.

i read law student renjun last night and i swear it got into my dreams so i checked your blog right away the morning after expecting sentiments from people who loved it as much as i did ONLY TO BE absolutely befuddled at some of your recent anons........ considering i've been reading fics my whole life p much and yours are truly remarkable and some of the most memorable ones i've read it makes absolutely no sense to me that someone would pick on your smut or punctuation or WHATEVER THE FUCK because your writing rocks my socks off. i genuinely genuinely genuinely mean it from the bottom of my heart

sorry, I know that I always tell myself that I'm a bad writer (I'm not, like, an actual writer ... like, there are people who are better and actually writing enough to be actual writers) , probably more than other people; I just have a lot of anxiety. Every time I finish a fic, I kinda obsessively read and reread it until I, like, essentially, hate it - which is bad, i know, but, like, I just have a lot of anxiety about writing and finishing fics. I know that no one owes me, like feedback and stuff, so it's just me kinda, like, sitting with my thoughts, which can be ... like, really mean sometimes, but it's fine; it doesn't impact anyone except me.

I appreciate that people get, like, defensive(?) for me about critical anons, but I did ask for it, so don't worry!! You don't owe me, like, defense or anything. anons don't even owe me feedback and I should be grateful any time I get an ask; I'm just really focused on external validation, sorry, so sometimes it's just ... yeah, it's just hard lol, but it's fine! Not everyone has to think I'm a good writer, or even a writer in general; and I'm probably a bad writer, given that the initial reaction to my fics is to point out all the bad things; I have a lot to work on and I should be more grateful that people went out of their way to tell me these things because really, truly, no one owes me anything and I'm too focused on external validation, so don't worry. I asked for this feedback!

Man, I miss the internet when you could just freely browse all sorts of niche blogs and fan sites without having to have an account anywhere... There was so much to explore! Now you need to have an account with Instagram and Tiktok before they'll let you see anything, or it's locked behind a paywall on someone's Patreon.

We used to "browse," like we were wandering free in a big pasture, and now it's a "feed," where someone keeps shoveling stuff into a trough in front of your face and you have to keep choking it down.

I miss "Free Range" internet is what I'm saying, I guess. Not this Content Factory Farming crap.

I think people should listen to a compilation of only Sasha James' lines. Istg 70% of her lines elicited this reaction from me

In privacy, there’s a Shakespeare reference, where Jaemin essentially goes “oh but a rose by any other name would smell as sweet” and the next scene begins with describing a different flower (a yellow flower btw that symbolizes romance - yellow because Huang is yellow (I literally spell this out when Renjun and Mark are talking); flower because the Shakespeare allusion is about flowers and it’s supposed to be, like, dramatic irony; and romance because it’s a romance fic)

There’s also Austen and Byron allusions because bridgerton is set during the regency period; this is, like, a super meta allusion that goes over a lot of people’s heads.

And, yes, I know exactly how pretentious all of this sounds, which is why I try not to talk about all the details in my fics. This isn’t an English class; it’s literally fanfiction and is not that, like, serious, but I like writing because I can put these kinds of themes in and plan my plots around this stuff, but I know it’s not this serious and I’m just overdramatic and sensitive so yeah ✌️😗
