Hello it’s extremely late oops. Did not realize how long this thing would take (28 and a half hours apparently according to procreate lmao) but finally, here it is!

Carmen Week Day 8: La Femme Rouge

Holy crap that was a lot of characters! For day 8 I wanted to draw all the ways I've drawn/imagined Carmen over the last 5 years! There are many I didn't do for one reason or another, but it mainly boiled down to space lol. These 10 (11 including canon Carmen) are (most) of my favorites of my AUs :)

as usual, i'll gladly answer asks about em :) i have plans to write a few for sure, but it's gonna be A While for them lol

Cat:

Both a Warriors AU and also just my "_____ as a cat" style!

This ones a lot less fleshed out so just bear with me lol. (ATM there might only be 2 clans, ACME and VILE, idk yet lol. idk what to name em either cos stickin "clan" on the end don't feel right XD)

In the Warriors AU, Sheeppaw grows up learning 2 contradictory versions of the Warrior Code: The true one from Shadowstalk, and the VILE version from older warriors. She gets made an apprentice a couple moons early, but is relegated only to camp duties until shes 6 moons old.

She trains alongside Cracklepaw, Tigerpaw, Molepaw, Goatpaw, and Silentpaw. At her first gathering she meets another apprentice, maybe a few moons older, from the other clan: Jewelpaw. The two hit it off and become good friends (and develop little mutual crushes). Sheeppaw also sneaks out and meets a kittypet: Player, who she also becomes very good friends with.

When her mentor, the deputy, Shadowstalk fails her on her final warrior assessment she pretty much has most of the same reaction as the show, just in the WC style.

After witnessing a murder, she hightails it out of there and encounters the newly named Crackletail. Panicked, she hastily and vaguely tells him she saw something and needs to Leave.

She makes it to Players yard and lays low for a while, and he introduces her to the neighbor cats, a sibling pair named Zack and Ivy. The four brainstorm and Sheeppaw is renamed Carmen. They know they cant let VILE keep doing what they're doing. So rogue Carmen and her kittypet friends start figuring things out from behind the scenes.

Pirate Cat:

Exactly as it says, bipedal cat world. Black Sheep was dropped off at a random orphanage in England, with a small stuffed black sheep (where she got her name). Since everybody are cats, Black Sheep isn't that atypical of a name. Sorta a mix of normal people names and cat names.

She grows up there alongside her self-appointed older brother Graham. When she's about 10-11ish she meets the princess: Julia Argent. Childhood friends to lovers letsgoo (its a recurring theme in these lol. its cute i like it).

The two eventually get together (in secret, yay homophobia and also societal status) It doesn't help that Black Sheep had a habit of getting in trouble so she could see the princess her princess.

The two get caught one night, and Black Sheep is nearly executed for "corrupting royalty", but Julia manages to talk her father down from that. Instead, she is exiled. If she ever sets foot in the kingdom after dawn, she WILL be killed this time.

Julia visits one last time, and Black Sheep promises to return someday when she finds somewhere where they can be together freely. She gives Julia her stuffed sheep to look after while she's gone, and asks her to take care of Fuega while she's gone (on one of their sneak-outs, they found a baby dragon that Julia managed to convince her dad to let her keep). Julia gives her the triangle choker. yay tearful goodbyes ;-;

Black Sheep and Graham (because no way is he letting his little sister go into exile without him) go from place to place, stealing when they need to and end up accidentally stowing away on a VILE pirate ship.

VILE pirate training to avoid death, they escape. Graham appoints the newly named Carmen Sandiego captain of their little ship, and they also pick up Zack, Ivy, and Player along the way. Carmen becomes very well known around the globe: civilians/lower class people see her as a Robin Hood hero (correct), while most royals and nobles see her as nothing but a filthy pirate (incorrect).

A few years go by when suddenly the crew gets word that the King of England is trying to marry off his daughter, who has recently come of age. Cue panicked race home + childhood lover reunion.

Daughter of Poseidon (Carmen Sandiego and the Olympians):

Percy Jackson AU! Replace Percy with Carmen, Grover with Player, Annabeth with Julia, and switch/move around some plot points and that's about it lol. I keep telling myself I'll do some scene rewrites of this one so we'll see. Includes PJO and HOO acting as prequels for Carmen Sandiego. Def wanna do dome rewrites for the canon show for this AU too lol

Dino Squad:

I'm out here combining one obscure kids show with another lol. If you haven't seen it, Dino Squad is this early 2000s animated show about these 5 teenagers that get mutated and can turn into dinosaurs, and go around stopping the bad guy from turning everything into dinosaurs. (I think the entire series may be on youtube lol. its goofy but man i loved it as a kid. i wanted dino powers so bad)

This is basically a high school au but most of Team Red has dinosaur powers. :P

In this, Dr. Bellum is experimenting with bringing dinosaurs back, but instead of just cloning them, she figures out how to mutate already-existing organisms into others.

(in the OG dino squad, the bad guy IS a dinosaur that evolved into a human--long story--and believes everything should still be dinosaurs. hes technically right, tbf, if the meteor hadn't hit they prolly still WOULD be dinosaurs. why does bellum want dinosaurs? because she's Bellum and she Can lol)

Carmen Wolfe and her twin brother Graham (they're fraternal twins. why? bc i thought it would be funny. yes he still has his accent. its my world i do what i want) are raised by Carlotta and Dexter Wolfe in Kittery Point, Maine. Carlotta is a paleontologist/biologist and Dexter is a history and geography teacher at the high school. They do know of VILE and what Bellum was working on and have been monitoring it in secret from the kids.

Carmen and Julia are those friends that met bc they were both hiding under the slide in like. Preschool and just stayed friends lol. They're the kind of best friends that will just. Show Up. usually Julia at Carmen's house because "You have better snacks" also Julia's parents just Don't Like Carmen. (Why? idk bc i said so. idk they think she's a bad influence. she's really not lol) Literally Julia has like a spot on the couch and a table setting. She's basically the third twin these three have known each other essentially their entire lives.

Zack and Ivy joined the group in middle school, when Ivy had the same class as Carmen, Julia, and Gray. Zack joined via association. (Zack and Ivy, on the other hand are not twins. again. bc its funny. each sibling pair thought the other was like them. zack and ivy thought Carmen and Gray were just normal siblings, and Carmen and Gray thought Zack and Ivy were twins. Julia had to explain to all of them it was not the case lol)

Player is Carmen's online friend that the whole group includes. they all game together and he gets ALL the public school tea. hes about the same age as Zack, so about a year-ish younger than Carmen, Gray, Ivy, and Julia.

At the end of their freshman year, Carmen and Julia start dating. Their friends and Carmen's parents know, they keep it secret from everyone else. At the end of the summer everybody (aside from Player) go to the beach for one last day of freedom before school starts. They swim through the mutant goo, and over the next few days discover their powers.

Carlotta IDs each dino: Carmen is a (large/person sized) pyroraptor, Gray is a T. rex, Julia is a troodon, and I still cant decide on Zack and Ivy's dino forms lol. Carlotta and Dexter explain the whole VILE thing and the group just kinda simultaneously goes "welp guess we're superheroes now. cool"

so yea dealing w highschool and also mutant dinosaurs and superpowers. this ones fun bc they can just be stupid kids lol

The Last Wolf:

My werewolf AU. The one that started all this mess and my love for making AUs of this show. It was my first fanfic i ever wrote, and it is very near to my heart. it's also gotten out of hand and become a franchise at this point it's ridiculous. (Seriously i've got a prequel of her parents planned and also a series of shorts set in the universe) It's gonna be a long ride, boys. Hope people still like CS by the time it's done lol

A Thief's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse:

Zombie apocalypse AU! Talked about this one a bit for AU day, and also as of this post I have ~1k words written of the first chapter! I also have a bunch of the major plot points outlined too ;) I wouldn't expect anything soon tho lol.

She wears a wetsuit under the coat bc it's really hard to bite through, especially with rotten jaws. She's got some boots she probably scavenged or traded for, and of course: the Walkman she probably found looting some abandoned building. She collects cassettes to listen to. Gotta keep sane in the end of the world.

How is this one a literal apocalypse and its still more lighthearted than the one based on FNAF lol

Redd Wolf (Five Nights at Redd's):

FNAF AU. I've truly lost it lol. I have this one completely outlined, nothing written but a lot of things are VERY clear in my mind. This ones uh. a lot more intense than even Thief's Guide. It's FNAF. its immense violence and child death. Seriously, Carmen, Player, Gray, Ivy, Zack, and Julia all end up possessing animatronics at some point. It ends happily, but it is based off a horror thing so if that's not your thing b careful <3

its supposed to be more of a mystery that gets unraveled, but if anyone wants specifics of it u can drop an ask :) i only have animatronic designs for Carmen, Julia, and Gray so far tho. I have ideas for the others too.

This is one I wanna share with y'all at some point. its probably the shortest of the AUs I have outlined so far, so yk. maybe in this lifetime lol.

Carmen and the Age of Wonderbeasts:

Mega Jaguar Carmen. This ones more of a ~vibe~ than an actual plot but i like drawing mega jag carm :)

Plushie Dragon:

This one's not an AU, but actually based on doodles of these 2 plush dragons! Matching red/gold and blue/silver dragons named after carmen and julia lol. I'll get around to posting more drawings of em cause they're cute

Wings of Fire:

Wings of Fire AU! Carmen is a rainwing/skywing hybrid (rainwing dad, skywing mom) She can camoflauge, fly decently fast, and has a prehensile tail. She can't breathe fire or use typical venom, BUT she figures out her venom, while not face-melting by itself, IS in fact flammable. again, more of a ~vibe~ than a story and plot, but I like drawing dragons.

Canon Carmen:

She's front and center, the one that started all this.

Way back in 2019, the autism and ADHD departments in my brain came to an agreement: This show is the greatest show of all time.

It was the first fandom I actively contributed to/interacted with. (I still read fics from other fandoms before, but had never been active in a fandom) Like I mentioned with Last Wolf, I had never actually written fanfiction before, and definitely never posted it. I love writing and telling stories (and boy howdy do I have A Lot of stories rolling around my brain). between all of the AUs ive come up with, I've gotten to practice so much worldbuilding and characterization. English classes usually focused on expository stuff, with like. a brief fiction writing thing. So I've definitely gotten to stretch my creative writing muscles with this show, and hopefully I can put em to use on original projects someday <3

I fell in love with the first season, and got ridiculously excited for every new season and the interactive. (heck, i played every possible option for the interactive the day it came out, and binged every subsequent season the day they aired.)

This show has been a big part of my life the last five years, and the original show will always be special to me. It's the reason I started learning to draw people lol, I have a drawing of Carmen from 2020 that I'm still really proud of. It's hung on my bedroom wall to this day.

So thank you, Carmen Sandiego. For everything.

Day 9: The Very Noisy Night, with inspiration from the extra prompt Sleeping in Shifts.

An AU where Tommy and Dream are survivors in the apocalypse. Tommy, a thief, tries to raid mad scientist Dream's base and gets caught up in his experiments on the living dead as his unwilling protege. Warnings for child poverty, children in very dangerous situations, guns, kidnapping, abuse, and sleep deprivation.

The world may have ended three years ago, but Tommy’s world ended last month.

See, when the dead stopped staying dead, he was twelve-and-a-half, huddled up in an abandoned building with a stolen loaf of bread and a knife being the only two things to his name. Society collapsing meant little to those outside its reach, and Tommy was quick enough to avoid the shambling masses, or at least escape their grasp if they got too close.

Zombie movies were wrong about all that biting shit, anyway. The dead couldn’t infect you because they were just corpses. Thing was, though, if you died, no matter what, you’d come back as one of them. Peacefully in your bed or throat torn out, didn’t make a difference. And if there was one thing Tommy was good at, it was bullshitting his way outta death.

So, he’d been having the time of his life, really. He’d gotten some friends for once- Tubbo, who could make generators and cool shit like that and even found them an old 3DS they could play Animal Crossing on, and Ranboo, who looked fucking ridiculous in a neat suit trawling through the ruins but had an eye for the coolest of scavenge- and they’d wandered place to place, bartering and exploring but mostly stealing supplies. After all, theft was Tommy’s speciality.

Through that, honestly, Tommy’s life began in stride as the world’s life waned. He had friends- family, really. He had enough that he didn’t starve for days between meals all that much anymore, especially after the plants started growing in the cracks. Tubbo had found a wilderness guide, so they knew what to pick, and the taste of wild berries was something he’d grown used to. And, inexplicably, he had respect.

That wasn’t something Tommy had ever intended to get, but apparently, the three of them helped more than they hurt. Bandits tended to have more than settlements, so it was absolutely just business, definitely. Tommy wasn’t some kind of Robin Hood; he was just a Tommy, no matter what people said. Tubbo and Ranboo might have liked the praise, but it grated on Tommy.

(After all, if he was so special, why did no one ever help him?)

And then, of course, he had to go and fuck it all up.

Sixteen-to-the-day and too cocky by half, Tommy had gotten it into his head to pull off the most daring raid of his life. For food and trinkets, not for anyone else’s gain. Never for anyone else’s gain. That’d be fucking stupid, and Tommy- well, he was an idiot, but not in that way.

Everyone knew that nothing good was going on in the old apartment building. No matter how many dead they’d cleared out- burn them and their ashes can’t do much of anything- there were always more around the apartments. There were always lights on in the building, but no one knew who lived there (not even Tubbo, who’d have had to have been the one to get a generator for them, unless they could also build their own). Anyone who tried to enter never left.

All in all, it seemed like a fun challenge.

What could be up there? Maybe impossible tech, or a secret weapon, or maybe even a very pretty girl? That would be the best reward, Tommy thought, because women were more pog than anything in the world. Except women weren’t a reward and that was a horrible thing to think, so he discarded the thought.

Turns out, the world didn’t work on fucking video game logic, and instead of some grand revelation, all he got was a shotgun to his face.

Tommy remembered the sheer paralysing agony of that one thought. I am going to die here. At the time, it felt like a tragic inevitably. Now, it felt like a naïve wish. At least if he was dead, he wouldn’t feel anything anymore. After all, while the dead might move, there’s no soul in them, nothing but wild animalistic rage. No hurt, no tears, no desperate drive to escape. No missing anyone.

No, no, God knows that Tommy used up the luck that’d let him just die quickly long ago. Instead, he’d looked into where the face of his attacker would be- shrouded by so many layers and a complicated gas mask that all he could make out were eyes that might have been green- and he definitely didn’t cry, and he didn’t beg for his mama because that’d be stupid considering she died when he was little, and Tommy wasn’t stupid.

With the only bit of softness the maniac had left in him- or perhaps, a cruelty more than Tommy could name- he’d lowered his weapon, and said that while Tommy had to repay him for his impudence, he could choose whether that was as another body to study, or a living assistant, because, to quote, Tommy was young enough he could be moulded into the perfect protege, and stupidly Tommy chose to live.

And that’s how Tommy Innit wound up curled up in the world's barest apartment back-to-back with a fucking psychotic mad scientist, ankle chained to the radiator so he wouldn’t try and run again and given the order to stay up and watch the doors until further notice in case the subjects break out. His arm was already smarting from the last time he’d tried to fuck around and be a “disobedient little shit”, as his captor had oh-so-lovingly described him as.

Tommy wasn’t scared, though. Au contraire, he was feeling fucking excellent. Au contraire meant the opposite, right? The fancy fella who had all the books taught him that. Wil-something. He was nice. Nothing like Dream, no matter how much he tried to flip to awkward kindness after threats and pain.

He didn’t like thinking of the bastard as Dream, though- taking on a new name after the end was a thing everyone did here, of course, something to do with growth, but Dream wasn’t one of them. Tommy refused to think of him like that. No, he was worse than the dead he loved to study so much. At least they didn’t draw shit out.

No, Tommy wasn’t scared. He wasn’t shaking, and he wasn’t at all feeling tears build up in his eyes. He wasn’t fighting the tempting urge to fall asleep, because Dream would make him fucking regret it, the agony of fighting against the lulling void overwhelmingly difficult. He could stay up on night watch all day every day no issues. None at all.

He could hear shifting. Banging on the doors, scratching, screaming, and no matter how much Dream had reinforced them, every sound made him terrified it was about to be broken down, and the test subjects would descend on the both of them and rip them to shreds. At least Dream had a gun. Tommy wasn’t even allowed a knife, after his last stunt, and he felt so much weaker now. At least in the past, maybe he could break a nose with a lucky punch. Now he could barely get off the floor in the morning.

The apartment was mostly converted into a lab, and Tommy could hear the machines through the thin floors, too, a cacophony of noise. Less a gentle hum and more a crashing wave, it still was drowned out by the struggling of the dead. Tommy couldn’t hear his own heartbeat over it though. He couldn’t hear Dream’s snoring behind him (how the fuck the man managed to sleep through the cacophony, Tommy didn’t know, especially since this hellhole of a “home” didn’t even have a fucking bed), and he definitely didn’t start hyperventilating from panic whenever he stirred slightly.

And the cacophony didn’t make his ears ring, didn’t make him wish that the building would just collapse. It didn’t. It didn’t make him cover his ears with his hands and hum the songs Tubbo and Ranboo had taught him under his breath. It didn’t make him wish more than anything he could see them again. Tommy was an idiot, but not a sentimental idiot.

No. Tommy was fine. He’d lived through the world ending, and he’d live through his own ending too.

(Whether he wanted to or not.)

Something sharp had hit his legs not too long ago, and the little cuts were starting to get deeper with each strike. Tommy ignored the trickle of blood running down his legs, making his pants stick to the lacerated skin.

Ranboo was going to be pissed when Tommy came back home this late…

Things are going well, all things considered.

And then he gets a message from the infamous Antarctic gang and everything goes to shit.

Now Tommy has to handle pulling off the heist of his life, all while hiding his true identity from both the tyrannical government and his new associates in the most feared gang in the city.

TW Zombie apocalypse and everything that comes with it!!

Did I say this was gonna be a three parter?...yeah no it's now a multi parter...depending on how long completing the mission gets-

Anyways on with the story!!!

Infiltrating The Airship

The CCC have asked for Lights help in tracking down Henry. But instead of helping the CCC to contain Henry...they decide to use Henry to help them defeat the Darks.

So they kidnap him and send him off with one of their more successful squads. Rupert Price, Hubert Gailforce and Charles Calvin.

Hubert informs Henry of his mission. Either kill the leader of the Darks Reginald Copperbottom...or take down the entire airship. His reward for doing so is a place in the Lights camp...automatic safety from the CCC who have been hunting him down ever since his escape.

Henry can get the lightning quick larcenist ending "normally"...however instead of being caught by the helicopter they just let him drop with the safe...

The Pure Blooded Thief ending doesn't fit this AU because the Toppats Airship doesn't house any valuable jewels...because they care more about their own peoples survival.

The Relentless Bounty Hunter ending is gone through normally until you get to the last part. Instead of giving up his leadership Reginald tries to inform Henry about the Lights corrupt ways...begging him to reconsider his choice...telling him that it isn't worth it and that the light will probably just kick him out as soon as he puts one foot out of line....

Henry doesn't listen to Regs pleads and shoots him through the head...a now half infected RHM bursts through the door, distracting the other members enough for Henry to get back to the helicopter before they could stop him.

Henry is now apart of the Light group...

I renamed Rapidly Promoted Executive to The New Member because it suited the ending better.

So instead of shooting Reg Henry takes him up on his offer...RHM bursts through the door just after the dummies are thrown. He immediately calms down once he sees Reg is safe before succumbing to his injuries. Henry helps save RHM, who now needs cybernetics to replace his broken body.

Henry is now apart of the Darks.

I renamed Government Supported Private Investigator to The Freed since the name fits the ending better.

Instead of trying to find incriminating information in the base Henry and Charles are rigging the place to blow. Charles is guiding Henry towards the engine room, by taking out the main engine the whole place will go down.

The ending starts off normally until Henry gets to the vents (All he did was knock the guard out), whilst Henry was waiting for Charles to hack into the airships system they start talking.

Eventually Henry finds out how Charles really feels about the lights...he thinks they're power hungry dictators who only have their best interest in mind...the minority could all die for all they cared. Charles wanted out...but knew death would await anyone who even tried to defy the rulers, Rupert feels the same way.

After revealing this Charles was awaiting the fight that would most likely break out between Rupert and Hubert once their superior heard of their traitorous thoughts.

But it never happened since Hubert also felt the Government was corrupt.

They all decide to divert from their current mission and leave the Lights side for good.

Whilst Henry was making his way out of the airship he spots Dave Panpa locked up in a cell, after freeing him they both leave the airship together.

Henry is not wandering alone anymore...plus they got a helicopter so that's neat-

okay this might get long so prepare, uhhh where do i start

so basically. henry is my main character. in this au, the risen are the zombies, makes sense yknow. difference is, while most zombie media tags zombies as slow to move, slow to act, and without capability for higher thinking, the risen are still, on some level, fundamentally human. (this kind of stems from the risen’s capability to fight in awakening, and from of a support between ricken and henry; see “they’re just like us, but dead” (((: ) given, the risen are slow and not all too strong, they’re dead and decaying and atrophying- but the fresher risen, the recently turned, can in some cases rival a healthy, living human. i’m still thinking on what caused the pandemic, i’ll be honest, no haha-no-one-knows cop-out, i’ll get back to you on that. but no one knows of any cure yet, of course, or this au wouldn’t exist.

so. in a world of the living dead(?), where being a mage translates to being a gunslinger, cut to henry. was this an excuse to make henry dual wield handguns? maybe. will i apologize for it? absolutely not.

i digress. henry is the chaotic neutral/neutral evil gunslinger with incredible aim and a questionable at best moral compass. i’ve actually got a sketch of him somewhere, of him pointing a gun at someone saying “give me your stuff. or die! i win both ways!” ‘course i didn’t draw the other person, but it gets the message across. he’s generally just kind of desensitized to things. he comes from a neglectful but wealthy family (as he does in canon), so he never had much of a mentor or anyone to guide him in what’s right versus wrong. mostly he’s just interested in self-preservation, and the preservation of his birds; he’s been rescuing wounded birds (read: crows) since he was old enough to know how, and he names them bird puns and keeps them as pets, and now he’s got what’s basically a murder of loyal crows at his beck and call. they feed on the risen (and humans) he kills, and warn him when something is approaching. he trains them well. he’s the pavlov of corvids.

gaius is a slightly more morally responsible survivor, who probably raided a bass pro outdoor shop/renaissance festival as soon as the pandemic broke out. he’s got a sword, and throwing knives, and some daggers, and a bow (before it breaks and he doesn’t know how to fix it). the good thing about it is that he doesn’t spend time looking for ammo- the bad thing is he has to do a lot of maintenance on them. he is a thief, steals from encampments and sleeping lone wanderers, but he isn’t killing anyone for supplies, usually. except candy. he’d probably kill for candy if he liked the brand enough.

the shepherds are a survivors’ group dedicated to assimilating, training, and protecting fellow survivors- think alexandria, hilltop, or the kingdom from the walking dead, if you know it. their HQ is an abandoned castle, a historical landmark, that they filled with traps and alarm systems, and is practically impassable if you don’t know it. chrom founded the group, along with his (boy?)friend robin (that’s actually his nickname, because of his fighting style, not his real name).

-lissa is chrom’s little sister, an aspiring general surgeon and the current medic of the shepherds alongside maribelle, her close friend since VPK.

-frederick is a good family friend to chrom and lissa, and by extension the rest of the shepherds- he’s a war veteran and former hand-to-hand combat instructor, and does his part by training new recruits, and often acting as chrom’s and lissa’s bodyguard.

-sully is my wife also a veteran, was actually trained by frederick while still in active service. she leads a lot of patrols around their HQ, and interrogates new recruits. just to make sure.

-stahl is the resident herbalist/apothecary, it was his father’s trade and he grew up learning it. he’s often an assistant to lissa when she needs it, as he can make the salves and ointments and medicines that she needs to treat injuries. he also sometimes helps in the kitchen, because of his extensive knowledge of plants.

-miriel is their sniper, and hobbyist historian. the historian part doesn’t matter so much, but she likes to talk people’s ears off about things if they’ll let her. she’s pretty okay with math and science too, so she’ll help stahl with measurements, ratios, etc, but mostly she likes history and shooting things from 200+ yards.

-ricken is the baby boy of the shepherds. “it takes a village to raise a child” they say, and he’s the village’s child. everyone looks out for him. everyone is his parent. he is well loved and being trained by miriel in the art of sharpshooting. (he’d rather be with stahl learning how to make things.)

-donnel is their agricultural expert, and directs all their non-specialized workforce in the maintenance of their fields. he’s very strict about their schedule, about how things are planted and pruned and fertilized and harvested, about how croplands are rotated for optimal yields, but damn if the results aren’t better than anything they could’ve gotten at a market pre-apocalypse.

-virion is their bowhunter. they could use guns, but it wastes precious ammo and is loud and attracts attention, so he trains archers and leads them out on hunts when their tame livestock are running low or they feel they can risk the venture. it’s more sensible to take from the wild than their personal resources, robin says, and robin’s advice seldom fails them…

-panne and nowi are in charge of livestock (and nowi is a herpetologist on the side. she loves reptiles. she has a pet python.) panne hates to see any animals killed, but especially her babies, as she calls the one she raises, and fully supports virion and co’s ventures as long as it spares the lives of her animals. she recognizes necessity when she sees it, however, and if an animal needs to be killed for whatever reason, she does it herself, to make sure it’s quick and painless. she’s not the most social, but she and donnel get along well, and when henry joins their number she takes quickly to him and his avian following.

-generally, their guards/patrols consist of vaike, gregor, cherche, kellam, basilio, flavia my other wife, lon’qu, and say’ri. they’re alternating shifts on castle patrol, two to each group, one pair on each side of the castle, east and west. they’re always up late but they’re allowed to sleep in as compensation.

-cordelia, sumia, and libra jump around a lot, help a lot with donnel’s farming but also with out-of-camp ranging, as they’re skilled riders. cordelia helps tend to the horses, and ricken sometimes joins her.

-olivia was an aspiring actress before the pandemic, and before she became a single mother- now she’s practically a secretary, keeping their records of harvests and hunts and slaughters and rangings and patrols. she’s mentored by miriel, who adores that kind of boring work. olivia is also an excellent liar and if they ever need to negotiate with other people, she’s their go-to.

-tharja is also a sniper and everyone’s favorite hot topic membership cardholder. she and miriel like to have cynical conversations about the state of the world and complain about men with sully. the three of them definitely have a girls’ club going.

-inigo (the only child character i bothered to include) is olivia’s son to an unnamed father. his interests have always been in the performing arts field, but as that isn’t realistic anymore, he spends a lot of time with everyone. sometimes he’ll go and sit with ricken, and they’ll browse the castle library for fairy tales and folklore and read it together, and sometimes they’ll try and write their own and then perform it for everyone else, on stormy nights when the mood is dismal. they’re always stupid but they’re funny- they both have a gift for dramatic comedy- and everyone looks forward to their shows.

Carmen Week Day 5: AU

AWW YE HERE WE GO BOIS I HAVE BEEN SO HYPED FOR THIS ONE! Sorry its a bit late lol

Anyways--

Last Wolf is very near and dear to me, it was the first fic I actually had the confidence to write, but Thief's Guide is almost completely my own. It's not based off of another series, pretty much all the worldbuilding and plot is mine. Last Wolf still follows the timeline and plot of the original show (changed and added to of course, but the original show is the backbone.

A Thief's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is exactly what it sounds like lol. Carmen and her friends surviving in an apocalypse while on the run from VILE and ACME, complete with a dope soundtrack.

And Julethief of course :) because i love them

This is definitely an AU I wanna write down, I promise. Uhh maybe when I get this chapter of Last Wolf out I'll start??? Maybe. We'll see lol.

if the song came out during or before 1986ish, then its probably something the characters would listen to (namely Carmen, jamming to cassettes she scavenges on her Walkman). anything after that would just be soundtrack/credits music if it was a show.

Around the mid 1980s, Dr. Bellum's unnamed predecessor was experimenting with a virus that, well, turned people into zombies. The test run soon got out of hand, however, and the virus quickly spread to the entire world.

Technology pretty much stays the same. Radios, paper maps, Walkmans, stuff like that. Music and TV obviously aren't getting widespread release anymore, so anything that came out past like, 1986 doesn't exist.

(Wow Fluffy that's so unrealistic there's no way people wouldn't quarantine themselves to stop it-- *looks at 2020* nevermind)

VILE uses it as a power grab, offering people shelter, food, etc. in exchange for joining. Fun.

There's incredible amounts of chaos and violence for the first decade or so, until late 1999 when VILE faculty member Dexter Wolfe is assumed to have been caught and killed.

Two things happen: ACME arises as a direct rival to VILE, and VILE acquires a certain Black Sheep.

ACME wants to find a cure. VILE wants the apocalypse to keep going so they stay in power. VILE and ACME are both much more well known.

Black Sheep grows up in a VILE compound, learning all her important thief skills of course, as well as the skills needed to survive the apocalypse: Firearms, bows, blades, living in the wilderness, etc etc. Pretty much anything you can think of needing to know in the apocalypse, Carmen learned when she was like six lol.

She officially enrolls at about 15, and escapes at 16.

Eventually she figures out VILE wants the apocalypse to keep going and escapes into the night on horseback, with Cookie Booker's stolen hat and coat.

She's on the run for a while and eventually winds up in Ontario, where she meets a recently orphaned 12 yr old Player. The two become fast friends and pretty much grow up together over the next few years. Carmen is very protective of Player and teaches him how to survive in case anything happens to her.

They make their way to Boston, pick up Zack and Ivy, and Team Red is complete! (for now)

Along the way they eventually acquire our favorite grumpy ninja, Carmen's favorite ACME agent, an aussie electrician and a couple more surprise people ;)

Carmen also discovers she may be the key to ending the apocalypse, but is ACME really what they say they are?
