You head canoned he tian and mo guan shan as alpha and beta (and I totally agree on your headcanons!), what would you think jian yi and zhan zheng xi would be?? I feel like one would be a beta, but I'm not sure which one...

I could see Zhang Xixi as Either Alpha or Beta, but if he was an Alpha he'd be a very lame one (sorry ZZX fans hahahah). So if I had to say I'd say Zhang Zheng Xi is the Beta.

Jian Yi has mixed reviews hahahaha I've had people tell me he's an Alpha. I don't agree, I think he's just a lively Omega and I prefer him as an Omega.

But you know if someone said "Jian Yi is a Beta" I wouldn't be mad about it. I'd be like "not my choice but okay".

once you've discovered Ayanga, you can't exactly undiscover Ayanga, so decide carefully! at any rate, here are a few videos from 《声入人心》 to get you started:

Les Rois du Monde - beyond the fact that this song is a total banger, and Yu Di and Hong Zhiguang are kicking some serious ass, and even Wang Xi is bopping along at 1:46, and words cannot contain how much I love how hard Fang Shujian is rocking out at 1:48, what continues to absolutely break my brain is the fact that Ayanga doesn't know a lick of French

鹿 be free and 往日时光 - his duets with Cai Chengyu (another tenor) and Wang Xi (a baritone) really showcase his versatility and range. also I kinda love these songs

偿还 and I'll Cover You (yes, from Rent) - if your chosen path towards Ayanga travels through 双云/云次方, I shan't judge you for it, here's a starter pack for your journeys :)). I really love Zheng Yunlong and Ayanga's relationship, it's very wholesome and often hilarious

生命的故乡 - I realize that I haven't put an Ayanga solo song on here yet because he's such a good team player! One of the things I admire so much about him is his general lack of diva-ness despite being the protagonist of this variety show a performer who's often cast as A角 with the skill and experience and acting credits to justify a lot more of an ego than he displays. anyway here's a moment from one of the few times he was ever dethroned from his 首席位, proving that he definitively deserves said 首席位

but if we're being honest, I just love Ayanga's general vibes? his good-naturedness, humor, genuine love and enthusiasm for his art, supportiveness for his fellow contestants. there's this clip where they pair up for duets by playing song charades that's comedy gold, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about this hilarity from episode 8 at least once a week

His phone rings.

He Tian reaches into his pocket for his phone, anxious. He hopes that its Mo Guan Shan - maybe he’s changed his mind. Instead, its the message he’s been dreading.

Ge: It’s about time

Ge: Your things are packed

Ge: What time are your school activities over, I’ll tell the driver to come pick you

He knows it’s not the same, but it feels like a punishment. It feels like when he had begged He Cheng to take and protect the little russet dog, and instead, his brother had let him believe he’d shot it and buried it on their mountain property. This time around, it’s much worse. Mo had taken his insecurities, the one’s he’d divulged at his weakest, raw and messy, and thrown it back in his face.

His knuckles whiten as he clenches a fist around his phone. Two paces ahead of him, Jian Yi and Zhan Zheng Xi are still bickering. No time has passed, but the sight before him already feels like it’s taken place years ago, faded and sepia like a memory.

He watches blankly, waits for the microwave to ping and for Jian Yi to carry his noodles outside the convenience store. He Tian sits. Numb.

“If only we were this happy all the time,” Jian Yi says, “right, He Tian?”

The happiness - it’s too late. Like desperately trying to hold onto a wave between cupped palms, it spills and leeches into the sand before he’s able to retain any of it. It leaves him more hollow than before.

He isn’t able to speak. There’s nothing he can say to make the situation go away, but it’s at least better to spend the moment as if nothing’s wrong, just sitting with two of his friends before having to face the reality - he’ll text them both afterwards, when he’s on the car.

The block of his phone is pressed up against his thigh. It’s still.

Zhan Zheng Xi seems to sense the mood he’s in, and says to Jian Yi, “it’s late, we should head back first.”

Jian Yi acquieces without any arguing, “alright. We’ll see you, He Tian.”

He Tian waves before closing his eyes and leaning back again. He doesn’t want to lose the image. He’s struck by the irrational fear of opening his eyes and seeing an empty street.

His phone pings and he scrambles for it.

Driver: Just arrived around the corner

Driver: Sir advises that you should leave before 9, due of the traffic

He ignores it, tabs over to Mo Guan Shan’s text record. He looks at the time on his phone: 8:48 PM.

He has 12 minutes.
