Die Wiener Werkstätte ist auch der Mode ein Wegbereiter gewesen. Seit 1911 sind beachtliche Beiträge zur Couture entstanden, zunächst als künstlerische Reformmode, dann als exklusives Tages- und Gesellschaftskleid. Textile Belege für das Modeschaffen der Wiener Werkstätten haben sich nur wenige erhalten. Dennoch können die einstigen Kollektionen ausführlich eingesehen werden, dank der fotografischen Belege aus dem Archiv der Wiener Werkstätte im Österreichischen Museum für angewandte Kunst, Wien.
