Why do people like to minimise the effects of the Slave Trade on pre colonial Africa's political and social activities considering that the slave trade lasted 400 years??
Tumblr media
Short Answer: White people minimize the effects because their wealth and power is rooted in Colonization and Slavery and they wish to perpetuate the myth that their wealth is rooted in innovation and good governance. Fully acknowledging he effects would also demonstrate the enormous dept the West owes to Africa and Africans; it would explode the lie that Africa and Africans are in debt to our White oppressors. Black people minimize the effects because of the pain and shame we feel having been colonized and enslaved. Also, acknowledging our oppression leaves us in the position of challenging it or admitting that we are willing to summit to it; minimizing & denial allows us to submit to White Hegemony and Oppression while pretending that were striving, succeeding, and advancing in our personal lives.

The Atlantic: Trump’s White-Nationalist Vanguard.
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/11/stephen-miller-alarming-emails/602242/?utm_medium=offsite&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=newsstand-ideas
Like his "Great White Cult Leader," Stephen Miller is a Bonafide racist. Not sure why it takes America years to uncloak the racists in its government. Perhaps sheer laziness. Perhaps abject fear.
Yet the fact remains that Racists always vote Republican. ALWAYS.
"Miller’s emails show one of the president’s closest aides, and the architect of many of his hard-line immigration policies, citing white-nationalist sources and pursuing the same goal they sought to realize: the restoration of immigration restrictions explicitly designed to keep America white...."

From the original post: Ahem. This was one of several nursery books series that taught white children to count in the late 1800s and the early 1900s. Depicted in the book, caricatures of Black boys are eliminated by a series of events, counting down to the last one. Ten little nigger boys went out to dine; One choked his little self and then there were Nine. Nine little nigger boys sat up very late; One overslept himself and then there were Eight. Eight little nigger boys travelling in Devon; One said he’d stay there and then there were Seven. Seven little nigger boys chopping up sticks; One chopped himself in halves and then there were Six. Six little nigger boys playing with a hive; A bumble bee stung one and then there were Five. Five little nigger boys going in for law; One got into Chancery and then there were Four. Four little nigger boys going out to sea; A red herring swallowed one and then there were Three. Three little nigger boys walking in the Zoo; A big bear hugged one and then there were Two. Two little nigger boys sitting in the sun; One got frizzled up and then there was One. One little nigger boy left all alone; He went out and hanged himself and then there were None. #whitedepravity #whitefragility #whitehegemony #whitenarcissism #whiteterrorism #unfairadvantage #xenophobia https://www.instagram.com/p/BuY3godHSic/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=fk47yrah2728

Black Coders
Hey Tumblr. I’m expecting tumbleweed on this because hey, it’s Tumblr and I’m me but wondering if anyone has any thoughts on new or newish black African ethnic origin peoples entering computer coding. It’s no secret that dark-skinned people who are not of Chinese, Japanese or some form of Indian looking (to the white coding hegemony) descent are a rarity in computing related work. My concern is that I have recently noticed a particularly promising novice on Twitter who talks mainly about issues of race but also makes some very useful retweets relating to programming. Should I focus on his race related posts and if so, how best to support him on those, or is it best to focus on his code-related tweets?
I know I’ve had an incredibly difficult time trying to break into the industry and would like to be able to support someone else in their struggle, but am wondering how best to do so… I certainly don’t want to appear overly partial, or as if I am allowing my sympathy towards difficulties he may encounter due to race to lead to my treating him too partially and make him feel uncomfortable, but on the other hand I feel it may be especially difficult for him to find a niche in a line of work which has few, if any, analogues for black people (can’t think of a single black-coder cliché that doesn’t involve an industry-outsider cyberpunk or hacker, and even then there are few that come to mind…), something which is a problem with society in general, but regarding which I also have a personal responsibility when interacting. Hmmmm. I will probably ask the Elders at my church, see if they have any ideas, but Tumblr suggestions also welcome.

"...white people tend to be overrepresented among the pool of registered voters...this registration-population split continues to mean an imbalance in the political power of white Americans. Especially when combined with those higher turnout rates. The question that lingers (for the GOP in particular) is how long the combination of more white voters, more white turnout and more Republican support from whites will last."
