What people don’t tell you about making Toyhouse Profiles for your characters is that the moment you start making them fancier than the bare minimum, you will keep wanting to make them even fancier.

#I mostly use one single set of code for all my characters bc it's nice and easy to use #and bc the creator allows altering it #And I figured ''Hey at some point I could alter the colors or font a bit to fit my characters better :)''#But now I'm Thinking......#Especially for Iris I might add an aditional tabbing to switch between pre and post character development #Because he is probably the one to get the most of it and ends up SO different #(Mainly bc he like...... Didn't have much in the way of a character before the character development)#(Bc he instead copied the rest of Team Melancholy. Especially Belkia.)#(So I could make the first one like. Pink and with stars and shit. And then the post development mir HIM)#Plus like a lot of the details also change #Like pre-development he also tries to dress like Bel and dyes their hair pink etc #But later on they actually TRY to figure out who THEY are instead of trying to be Belkia #So then Iris dresses completely differently and starts switching his hair color a lot etc (and probably never again dyes it pink)#I usually stay more simplistic with charsheets. Also in like a pokemon rpg I'm in where some people make super fancy code #While I use the basic one bc I'm lazy lmao #But on Toyhouse...... 👀👀👀#Yeah I know I'm supposed to be at work r/n. Signal Lost

I've had something happen to me that's so incredible and that I could have never hoped, something so touching and so unbelievable that it made me rethink a whole lot of stuff: a wonderful reader on Ao3 started reading my long-form fic (101k words!!!) and commented basically every chapter after a certain point. And wow, I would have never thought something like this might happen.

And yeah, it is my first fic with plot in it, yeah I will never believe it to be perfect, but it's good enough. And receiving all those emails from Ao3 really was the highlight of my days over the course of which I saw said reader slowly go through all my favorite parts!

And so I wish to give it some spotlight here, while I'm finishing up my school year and work and whatever! I will post this here for now, but I will drop chapters every few days and make a Masterlist for it this weekend. (nvm I don't have the energy to do this any time soon lmao) I have too many loose ideas in my head so this is just to pass the time till the brain worms wiggle all in the same direction

“I don’t think I’ve ever received a document as classified as this one. What am I supposed to do with it, Kate?” he says, dragging his thumb across the pile of papers, each file filled with more ink than the last.

“You asked for proof, there’s your proof,” Laswell says.

“You said you’ll bring someone competent, and who can help us, this doesn’t tell me shit.” He stares blankly at the screen, tired. She stares back.

“The Captain specifically asked to keep this under wraps.”

He rubs at his face, scratching at his beard. It’s getting long again.

“Who is he, anyway?”

“I can’t tell you that.”

He groans again, picking up the file on top. No photo, no name, no age, no height, weight, no nothing . And he thought Simon was secretive.

“What can you tell me?”

“It’s the closest we’ve ever gotten to him. Did things a particular way.”

He shifts through the papers. “And the discharge?”

“Left after the entire team got wiped out. Messy stuff.”

“That why he doesn’t show his face?” He bends forward, grabbing the cigar from the ashtray and bringing it to his lips.

“John.” Her voice carries a heavy warning.

“Just sayin’,” he says, biting around the cigar with one side of the mouth. “What kinda captain doesn’t go down with his men?”

“Got enough guilt as is. You’re lucky I convinced them.”

They both remain silent. They know the missions would be a slippery slope. One wrong move and a war is started. He puffs a cloud of smoke.

“Anything else?” John asks.

Kate looks to the side, her face illuminated by another screen. He can see her hesitate, her lips are pursed in a thin line as if she’s debating her options.

“You’ve worked together before.”

His face lights up. “Finally! Who?”

Her face immediately hardens back up. “Can’t tell, John, my hands are tied.” She sighs. “You were still a Lieutenant.”

Years ago then. He mentally catalogs everyone he’s ever worked with, but he knows that at that age, he was throwing himself at every available mission, wanting to make a name for himself. “So an old fart then? How’s that gonna help us?” If the guy was a Captain when he was still a Lieutenant, and he felt himself grow old, he can’t imagine who Laswell is bringing back from the dead.

Laswell’s face distorts, he knows he’s pushing her buttons, but he has to know.

“Not older than you John.”

His eyebrows raise. “Oh?”

The funny part is that I don't know neither lmao

On Errorinkuary (February) I was choosing a background color then making all the other colors match it

Then I got too lazy to make all those colors make sense...

Template's and Error's birthday, for example, I used the original color palette + a very low opacity tint of the lineart color + lower the opacity

Last time I drew something colorful I was experimenting with skin render, so I started with a random base color (I used blue on the first one and a grayish green on the second one) then the skin tone I wanted and then started rendering in a very messy way by adding shadows, highlights and blush.

On these two I started with the background color (I love that yellow bc) and used the lineart color to make the details (It was kinda the opposite on Outer's but I had to put him there too)

It's... Actually been a while since I colored something... Which means I should probably do it that again...

Basically I'm still figuring out my junk and I just wanted to ramble, but it's mostly:

-choose a background color →make the colors match a bit (I can explain that later maybe-) → lower the opacity → shadows(?) → a tint on top of everything can help too

hihihi !! came across your tumblr while looking at hermitcraft/life series art (your art is lovely by the way, definitely going into my cool people with cool art collection) , and saw that you use/used krita !! as a krita user, i would love to know your main brushes and canvas sizes, and art process too :D would love to get into things like illustration but no clue where to start ,,

hello! since i get asked about stuff like that relatively often and i'm usually too lazy to answer properly everytime i'll use this ask to answer all of those in one big post :D

Brushes

i don't think i have main brushes? i jump from style to style quite frequently and i love love love trying out new stuff so the set of brushes i'm using for any given drawing can change drastically but there're a few that came to my mind

i've been vibing with the first brush the most lately! it's kinda has spray paint feel to it?? but not really? idk but it's fun to make messy sketches with :D 2nd and 3rd are probably the brushes i find myself coming back to most often bc they're just really basic lol

all of the brushes ^ are default krita brushes bc i dont like downloading brushes from the internet so if you wanna find cool non default krita brushes you'll need to ask sm1 else sorry

(btw my advice: don't care about brushes. limiting oneself to a certain set of brushes can also limit the creativity so don't do that)

Canvas Size

my default canvas size is 2000 x 2000 px and it usually goes up from that if i need other proportions for a piece - basically that means that the shortest side of (almost) any of my drawings is minimum 2000px (2000 x 3000, 2500 x 2000, etc). for pixel art it's the same rules but for minimum of 200px!

social media eats the quality of images really hard so i usually don't see the point of drawing on bigger canvases than that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Art Process

there isn't much to say about the art process for me bc i'm sure my process is not too different from everyone else's process lol for lineart stuff it's the usual:

super messy, super quick sketch

cleaner sketch (depending on the art style and the vibe i'm going for this step can be skipped)

messy colouring (also can be skipped sometimes; this step is just for myself to find the colour palette i wanna use and to determine whether i like the drawing so far or not so i can change the idea or completely abandon the piece)

clean lineart

flat colouring + shading

adding small details, colouring the lineart, making lighting prettier, etc. (this one cannot be properly described bc for me it's usually a mess of tweaking everything and nothing until i like the final product)

for lineless stuff i don't have a process - i put pretty colours on the canvas and just,, Pray for the best or smth lmao

it most likely won’t be helpful but i do have youtube channel where i (once in a blue moon) post speedpaints! they might help in understanding what my art process is

and that's it i think? i hope this was useful at least in some way :D it's not the best idea to ask me about any of art related things bc my approach to art can be summarised with throwing stuff at the wall until smth sticks lmao

1. What’s your favorite sims death? I personally never experienced this death while playing but the "running with scissors" death in the Sims 2 is hilarious and also disturbing lmao.

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? I always use Maxis Match for hair but the rest is more Maxis Mix.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Never have and don't plan to do so in the future!

4. Do you use move objects? I'm not a builder but as soon as I change to buy/build mode move objects needs to be activated lmao

5. Favorite mod? Probably MCCC but I also love Wicked Whims/Wonderful Whims. For CAS the more CAS Colums mod is nice. I also enjoy the Realistic Childbirth Mod a lot!

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? I got them in release order besides the Werewolves pack, still not sure whether I'll get it or not.

7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? aLive mode :D

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? I don't really share much about my sims here (I probably should) but I actually really love the girls of my simblr band I created for the Edgewavefest event right now.

9. Have you made a simself? Nope, never even tried. :D

10. What sim traits did you give yourself? Hmmm probably Creative, Art Lover (I could stare at surreal paintings for hours) and Cat Lover. Goofball or Socially Akward would fit too I think.

11. What is your favorite EA hair color? That's hard. The jet black one is nice and I also like the new very light blonde hair color.

12. Favorite EA hair? Might be weird but I like to use almost all of the slicked back male hairstyles.

13. Favorite life stage? I like all of them except for the baby stage, that one is...rough lmao. I surprisingly enjoy the elder stage a lot.

14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? I actually hang out in CAS mostly but I'll try to get more into gameplay soon! I have a sort of love-hate relationship towards Build Mode. I really need to be motivated to sit through building a house without quitting :'D

15. Are you a CC creator? No, I only do some basic recolors from time to time for my own game.

16. Do you have any simblr friends/a sim squad? I'm not sure actually. I have some people here I connect with more often then others I'd say.

17. What’s your favorite game? When it comes to the Sims franchise it's definitely Urbz for the GBA. I played it religiously as a kid and I still do sometimes C: My favorite Non-Sims games are Rimworld and the Dragon Age games.

20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? I started out avoiding mods at all costs and now I can't play without them. In terms of gameplay I now play a lot more families than I did a few years back.

22. Who’s your favorite CC creator? I have A LOT. Probably too many to list here and I don't like to pick favorites. :)

23. How long have you had a simblr? I think I made my account in 2020? But I had a very long hiatus up until recently.

24. How do you edit your pictures? I mostly use Blender and edit the images with Gimp afterwards. I suck at taking screenshots I don't know why. T.T

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? My favorite is seasons and get together (only bc of Windenburg lmao) I also enjoy Cottage Living a lot.

okay anon !! i will try my best to explain sorry if it's bad or nonsensical 🥲 also will include a cut bc long + pictures

SO this varies from drawing to drawing bc i have different styles n methods depending on my mood among other things... like for example the process between this and this or something like my latest comic is completely different.

usually i start by getting an idea (OBVIOUSLY!!!) sometimes i just start with something rly vague, sometimes i think about it for a while, and sometimes i even do thumbnails... i will use one such example for a more thorough look at the Process i think!

so, for these i actually doodled thumbnails on the note app on my phone... i used to do this on paper also but phone works surprisingly ok to just get a pose/vibe down. so it looked like that:

you can see... the vibes. using these as a base i'll draw rough sketches on the computer, like this:

which i can then refine them further into nicer, cleaner sketches (i usually do this for bigger illustrations like that, or comics):

then i line . note i usually color the lines after i've put flat colors so please ignore that lmao:

then i do flat colors, color the lines, and do shading/highlights etc. usually i use multiply and overlay respectively for this type of illustrations:

then i do the details (snow, dust, the titles...) and add a preliminary overlay that i'm probably going to play with in the next step (please pretend that i didn't forget to up the opacity for the background of the second illus earlier i'm too lazy to retake screenshots):

AND THEN i switch to my shitty old photoshop and do last minute edits, play with the colors/contrast, add textures, etc.

final results!!! yayyyyy🎉

that's basically my process for illustrations like that. for simpler stuff i'll go with the flow a little more... like for example the afterimage art i did the shading with my own colors and lysandre actually isn't even fully drawn (altho there's probably more of him drawn than you'd expect LOL):

been a while since the last behind the curtain! also probably bc i haven't done anything too crazy edit-wise as of late. anyway this was a fun one! been wanting to edit the style ever since yrs dropped this mep, but i just never got around to it lol.

my ingredients: - after effects cc 2022 - red giant universe - sapphire distort - video copilot twitch

so the first step was figure out how to do the melty text effect--i knew how to do it in photoshop, but it's a little different in motion! i figured there were a few ways to do it, so i narrowed the most likely down methods to:

scale wipe + wave warp effects

text to shapes + crazy keyframing action

shape layers + linear fades or something along those lines

photoshop + liquify

and i am so sick of animating shape layers i feel like it's all i do. it literally is like 70% of what we do in motion graphics. i'm sick. i went with the scale wipe + wave warp method because fuck this LMAO. the process was like type > precompose > slap effects on > keyframe. to an exaggerated extent, this is what you get:

you could probably achieve a similar wave warp effect with ae's plugin btw! but i liked that sapphire gave me a bit more customization. once i had the movement i liked, it was a simple keyframe job.

then because i am LAZY and cannot be arsed to deal with manually separating colour channels or triplicating multiple text layers just to get a chromatic aberration effect, i stuck uni.Chromatic Aberration and uni.RGB Separation onto the precomp and fiddled with those settings until i thought it was appropriately eyestrain-y.

for the edit itself, i finally put my money where my mouth is and Thought About Form And Content. shoutout to my students for their relentless teasing. i set my comps at 12 fps to enhance the somewhat disjointed editing, and then i actually planned out the composition of my gifs instead of just throwing things at the wall and hoping something stuck. the background is black ice + a halftone overlay for the comic-y aesthetic. font is arial black (cheated with geller sans ultrabold for the "7" and "1") because #typography history and #cheeky references to the genre.

panels 2 + 3 basically employed the scale wipe + wave warp method in addition to my usual mograph bullshit (rotation, text animation, fake 3d using gaussian blur instead of adding a camera), but i changed minor things around. panel 3 especially, i gave the liquify tool a shot--and i don't like, hate it, but it was harder to map.

everything else seems pretty self-explanatory--stretch + center keyframes for the scale wipes in panel 1 (for the text effect), but aside from that, basic movement animations, basic glitches. i didn't reinvent the wheel! just added seb to it and spun.

sorry in advance if you've already answered a question like this but i just wanted to ask, how do you improve on drawing?? i think especially for things like coloring, shading, and lighting , its been difficult for me to be happy with how it looks because compared to the sketch (that i think already looks nice) the colors just seem sort of flat and muddy and i feel like i dont have a good grip on what colors to put where and how to make it look unflatt if that makes sense! just curious on maybe what kinds of practices and studying you do for this(if any))<33 obv you dont have to answer if you dont want to, and thank you for being one of my inspirations, love youu<33333

hihi!! for simply shading/lighting, i would suggest you only work in black and white until you're totally comfortable with developing values. why? marco bucci explains it really nicely in this video but basically if you have good values u can have absolutely garbage nonsense colors and it will still make sense aka when i did this lol:

i'm guessing you're more interested in colored artwork though since black and white drawings can't be "flat and muddy" bc theyre in grayscale lol. for coloring, this is so tough for me too so i thought about this for a day or so and i came up with 3 tips that might help^^ 1) getting colors directly from photo reference or color reference, 2) manually adding filters/color harmony, and 3) studying color theory

i always work from photo reference so it informs a lot of my coloring/shading/lighting and often when i don't understand what color I'm looking at i directly just eye drop it and realize that what i thought was purple was actually just a gray-red. working from an actual picture helps make sure my colors don't look strange and while i used to think eye-dropping felt like "cheating" when i worked digitally honestly i've learned a lot from it and honestly if i stare at a color long enough i can get it pretty accurately now but i'm just too lazy so eye-dropping just speeds up my workflow (plus i hate digital color pickers anyways they r not built for artists and i wrote an entire paper on it in college once lmao) anyways here's an example of a color study i did by directly eye-dropping from a gif with @quokki's incredible coloring (love u ale <3)

if you're not working from a picture directly, you can still use other pictures or artwork as a "color reference" which I used to do a lot. i like to look at art from other ppl with pretty colors and create a color palette to use in my own drawings. for example, the color palette for this felix painting came from a piece (idr which) by Simón Prades on instagram but this palette is really easy to use since it's linear values it's like working in black and white but comes out looking cooler LOL

Recently for my lee know kiki's delivery service drawing i felt that the colors seemed a little flat n muddy to me because it was in an animated flat coloring style (lol) so I added a filter layer (just a flat apricot color set to overlay at 25% on photoshop) that livened up the whole thing and made it feel more cohesive. It's a pretty subtle difference to other people but made a world of difference to me :) it helped take the muddiness out of the shadows of his face and the glass reflection and took the painting from gloomy rainy day with stale bread to warm sunny day with fresh bread :]

and finally if u are interested in actually studying colors and lighting and shading and stuff these r some of the youtube videos and channels that i think do a great job explaining these very cool concepts:

pre-realism vs post-realism is a cool video about the difference between the mentality of how beginners draw vs how experts draw and kinda blew my mind tbh i think the big color takeaway from this video is that something that kids would color (like green grass) might actually be a totally different color to an artist's eye (dark yellow, red gray, even a super desaturated purple) depending on a realistic lighting situation

nathan fowkes did a 3-part guest talk series on understanding color temperature and relationships: (1) (2) (3) also not coloring but i love his video on value massing

this lecture on what charles bernard calls "the mother color principle" takes the "filtering" tip that i mentioned earlier to a much more developed level (it's an hour long so just skip through it.. u get the gist of what he's saying in a few min but the whole demo is also cool too)

i mentioned him earlier but marco bucci has many 10 min digestable videos about color on his channel that i like :) (also this lighting/value video is great too)

☆ hawk talk 8/17/23 ☆

today wasn't the best day per se

um so as i was getting out of the car to go to school i spilled my coffee all over my pants and my fucking DOC MARTENS

but my dad got my water bottle and a towel and wiped em up

and the coffee got on my bag too.. i want to cry bc it's stained

but it gives character so whatever

and like i act like i'm completely fine until i'm out of the view range of my parents and i cussed repeatedly very loud and it was therapeutic

and then uh what else happened

*thinky face*

oh YEAH

so there's like this ledge by the front of the school like a brick wall thingy that goes just above my waist and i put my water bottle and bag there

and then i put my earbuds in and listen to music to keep myself from wanting to die

and then ben walks up to me and i just like blurt out "God i hope i don't smell like coffee" AND IT WAS SO EMBARRASSING BC I DIDN'T MEAN TO SAY IT,, I WAS JUST THINKIJG IT TO MYSELF AND THEN I WAS LIKE FUCK SHIT NO

and he looked so caught off guard 😭😭

and he was like "uhh no"

so then i was like well fuck i can't just ask someone if i smell like coffee and give them no context 😭😭

so then i tell him about my dumbassery and he sees the coffee stain on my thigh and he's like "ohh yikes. but no, you can't smell it"

but like i'm self conscious so i stil sprayed some perfume bc i dont wanna smell like coffee which was 99% creamer because my FUCKING MOM DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FUCKING DRING THE DAMN BEVERAGE

so yeah i'm making my own coffee from now on fuck her

anyway

a beetle that i thought was a cicada turned out to be,, yk a beetle started flying around my head and i was like "aww it's so pretty" BC IT WAS

LITERALLY LIKE A MIX OF BLUE AND GREENISH AND IT WAS SO COOL

but like ig my face didn't say that?? idk i flinch a lot without meaning to

and he's like "do you want me to kill it?" so like ig my face was scared or smth idk 😭😭

and just for shits and giggles i was like "yeah sure"

AND THIS DORK SERIOUSLY STARTED JUMPING AND TRYING TO CATCH IT

and then after a while he just gave up and let out a sigh that was like yeah fuck that bug

oh and then he offered me some gum ♡

it was Extra: Peppermint

i'm a spearmint girlie but Extra gum is Extra gum, i will never turn it down

and idk if he offered me some out of kindness or if he remembered that mints and mint gum help me with anxiety

and ik for sure my breath didn't smell so it wouldn't be that either

idk i'm trying not to over analyze everything that happens but i am strUggling right now lmao

so anyway we walk into the building and he asked me if i eat the school breakfast (we were coming up to the cafeteria ish)

and i'm like "no i'm not hungry in the mornings" yk, like a liar

and here's how the rest of the interaction went: (m = me, b = ben)

b: really?

m: yeah idk i just don't really pay attention to when i'm hungry i guess? like i don't really notice when my stomach is empty anymore (this was actually the truth)

b: then how do you know when you need to eat?

m: when i get lightheaded.

b: wha- well what if you get lightheaded during class? we aren't allowed to eat during class periods.

m: i eat a mint or sneak some gum

b: *still doesn't understand all the way but sorta gets it*

b: yeah i get that. if the food is bad i just get the juice (talking bout school breakfast) well, see ya later! *goes into the mess hall*

m: yeah, bye!

(that wasn't our entire convo, i'm too lazy to put everything in)

and then i sorta just went into this one little corner to wait until they let us into the hallway buildings

and then i popped my earbuds back in and started to vibe to rock and then i sorta start singing to myself

and then guess what

HE FUCKING WAS LIKE SAYING "hey let's get breakfast" (again, i was too lazy to type out rhe whole convo and didn't add in vital parts bc laziness and my tummy hurts)

We also see him getting mad It's a love triangle lmao

At first it may not make that much sense but if you find the hidden doc everything he says in No Name #3 makes sense

In the file we see Kohaku destroyed an au so HiMERU had to make another one. Judging from the wording and the moth mentioned, the new au HiMERU made is the one with Moth Kohaku

Btw. This moth Kohaku's story can be found in the author's Twitter! (@/Iambeegrape) Dw Kohaku according to HiMERU you're the mc. And so far there hasn't been any mention of like Aira and other people so..

In the author's twitter we also see this drawing (It has an alt text)

If you read the doc/file we will know how Kohaku ended up with a maid outfit a.k.a Maid outfit origins <33

If you’re too lazy to read the doc basically, Kohaku made a mess (destroyed some crystals) sooo he has to clean it up

Going back to the Kohaku being mad it's a love triangle..

Due to me having a short memory I can barely remember the earlier events of CHAU so everything that's left in there is jumbled up

CHAU from what I remember it obviously started with a Kohaku Oukawa x Reader x Aira Shiratori

Eichi decided that the candy MC makes is basically drugs so he sends MC away to the human world to collect red(?) crystal hearts

MC falls from the sky and ends up getting saved by Kohaku (We see this basically being predetermined bc Kohaku had a dream about saving someone falling from the sky and woww it happened..I think the dream thing happened in the Prequel?)

Blah blah blah..MC keeps everyone updated by using Twitter and goes M.I.A for a while bc the whole engagement thing happened (MC was passed out)

That's basically the main story (Or rather what I can really remember that is from the main story since I'm not sure which is which..If it's from the prequel, main story, or the distorted party)

I want someone to make a list of Kohaku's crimes bc..He committed a lot in this story

Sorry if everything is a mess. I tend to jump from one topic to another to also not forget what I have on my mind since when I don't write it out I completely forget what it is

We see a certain technique in the story..That is..To feed MC to get rid of/change the topic

They also seem to have a thing for drugging MC to sleep

There was one time in Eichi's office, Kohaku's sister, and Kohaku himself

Eichi put noir hearts in the sweets which acts as a sleeping drug to MC

Kohaku's sister put a trail of candies with sleeping drugs in it for MC to follow (Keep in mind that MC KNEW it's a classic kidnapping trap but still ate and followed the candies anyways bc yes)

And Kohaku in Prequel chapter 21. We see that there's a black dust on top of the sweets that makes MC fall asleep

He started to feed MC sweets only when MC started to talk about the end and all that stuff

So yayyy! Want to distract MC? Feed them sweets! It's up to you if you want to make them fall asleep or not (And speaking of sleep, I am getting sleepy..fast)

Kohaku only loves one MC. His MC. The one he calls "Omae". It doesn't matter if in some other au, let's say Mayoi..Has a relationship with MC as long as the MC isn't his MC

At least, that's what I can understand. I'm not sure if he has different opinions depending on the character MC has a relationship with

Btw..There's something I'm curious about..

Since the story is an x reader the format is like "You do this and that"

The DayDream is in first person and there was this line (I also mentioned this in my previous part of Fanfic theory)

"are you... Are you the viewer? The fiend ? Or some bypassed stranger?" His golden eyes stared down at me.

Does that mean that the person there a.k.a the person HiMERU is talking to us? The reader themselves? Like actual actual reader. The irl one

I'm kinda pissed off.

(lmao had to put it under a cut bc it got LONG)

didne sleep well like usual woke up with my neck hurting and my mom screaming calling for me like and when I asked what she wanted she just said "come.downstairs and help me call your sibling" and like.ok IG God fucking damn I'm in pain ok call the sibling let's go downstairs idk what she wants and she was like "just help me. clean your room. clean the cats litter. just Do something..." and she started fuckin. telling my cousin how much she hates that we don't do things the exact moment she asks us. and how "wrongly" she raised us..while I'm fucking sleep deprived and in pain and generally exhausted. constantly.

and I'm trying my best but I can't say that bc I don't "DO" anything and therefore I basically "DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT" to be exhausted and if I'm in pain that's MY fault for being a sedentary fat bitch bc again I don't "DO" anything. and I KNOW she's upset about my weight bc she's said so before one time she got pissed and yelled at me and just HAD to mention how I'm just getting fatter at home without doing anything with my life. it doesn't even matter to her that I lost 5kg in a month all of a sudden if her old jeans can't fit me then I'm still too fat IG.

I'm in so much pain and every little thing is so fucking difficult for me and I'm so exhausted all the time and I can't mention it bc to her (or anyone for that matter) bc I'm "lazy". she decided I'm "not as depressed anymore so why am I being like this?". like I'm already stopped doing the thing my ent doctor asked bc it's just. too many things and I keep forgetting at the end of the day. I WANT to do it. but it's HARD. EVERYTHING IS SO HARD. but things CAN'T be hard for me bc I'm "intelligent and smart (<- had good grades in fucking. grade and middle school I guess)" I'm TRYING. but it doesn't matter to them. bc to them I'm not. to them I'm being lazy.

like idk i feel like it's so dishonest to compare me to a non (or let's be real, less) traumatized version of myself. like bitch yeah sure I was 10 and got good grades. I still dealt with bullying from my own "friends" and self image issues I couldn't tell my parents about. I had to hear sexist comments about my body when I was , FUCKING 10, and not being able to do anything about it bc the solution was just to exist differently I guess.

like ofc I understand that they can't see inside my head to fully understand but they don't even partially understand and I'm terrified of trying to explain. I'm trying my best. I really am. some days my best will be making food for everyone. some days my best will be showering and doing my skincare. some days it will be brushing my teeth at least once. and yeah some days it'll be nothing. but when I think about the way they see me I start feeling crazy "am I really trying? did I manage to trick myself? am I actually fine and just pretended so hard that now I think I'm actually ill"

i don't even know anymore. I'm exhausted.

it literally does not matter to them. if I stay out all day and come back and say I'm tired they be like "but you don't do anything" I realized it's almost an automated response from them (at least from my younger sibling it is) there was one time I did do a lot of things at home. in front of this sibling. and when I just sat down and went "oof I'm tired" they were like "but you didn't do anything" and I realized. it literally doesn't matter if I do or don't do anything they WILL say the same thing.

no matter what I do it really will never be enough for them. they just want me to magically not be mentally ill anymore. they will never say this, but what they want from me is basically that. I just need to stop "moping around", lose weight, get a job (which I do NOT feel capable of doing it maintaining), and be happy. easy right? it's not like I have a good reason to be like this (,they're the reason,) they dont want ME. they want the version of me inside their heads that honestly I don't. think ever existed. bc if I try going back to pinpoint the moment 'everything went wrong' I'll just keep going back forever bc there's no moment like that. I guess I just took longer to break but the thing is. now I'm broken.

day five of crocheting a granny square every day until i get good or get bored

I started out making it with just one colour but then realised I'd kinda forgot how to start the next round properly and I couldn't be bothered to find the video I watched so I was like okay imma do two colours.

while doing the two colours I was like I there was a different way of changing colours they showed in the video I watched that I wanna try and I should probs go back and watch the vid again to check how but uhh I couldn't be bothered so I just kinda made it up and hoped for the best

basically I was feeling lazy lmao. tomorrow I will be rewatching some stuff to jog my memory.

anyways despite my laziness I think this square came out okay. still not fully square shaped tho. I feel like its bc of the way I hold it, I kinda pull it a bit to the side without realising it. something to work on for sure

my plan atm is to do seven days of this square (so two more after this one) and then seven days of a new square and then maybe seven days of another new square. idk. I want to make a blanket out of all of these and I looked it up quickly and I think it said not all squares end up the same size so idk how it would work putting them in a blanket together. maybe getting a blocking board will help make them all the same even tho they're different patterns. i hope so bc if not I'm just gonna have a bunch of squares that idk what to do with

I did some more practice of the double crochet stitch (which I think I called the single in prev post lmao) and I've got pretty good at it minus it still being a bit tight. so I moved on to learning the half treble. my first attempt is shocking (left) but my third/fourth attempt (right) is definitely a lot better. at first I had the each row kept getting shorter bc I kept missing stitches on the end issue. I still need to practice it for sure but im getting there.

was gonna make this the start of me including four squares per post instead of just one but I had a lot to say so that went put the window. I also think it's kinda fun that I'm using this as not just a way of posting my squares but also a daily update on what I've been practicing

I love how he gives the man the drink, then takes/catches it right back as gracefully. Chef's kiss.

The dude is so chill at moments. If I didn't know better, I'd say he's great. Very entertaining, this comedy.

He's a walking and talking aesthetic.

In the book I feel for Louis (but mostly for Claudia, though, the rest can choke), but in the show it's the opposite for me. I want to love Lestat. God, I love broken, often abused bastards. They don't need to be fixed (if they don't want it), but need to be loved.

A sudden thought: maybe I want to love this Lestat (and want him to be Louis tbh) bc he looks so much like Pitt's Louis. That's why it's so unsettling to me. He would nail that character, too.

Lmao. He still was his master in the books & they both were white. It was abuse at it is.

I keep asking myself if I would believe if such book was actually to exist & I'm still not sure. So, like... a warning? Some would read it, think about some dude imagining things & move on with their life.

I fucking LOVE hands. The show is so dark & I'm so lazy to open photoshop and fix it to enjoy it properly. Just... HANDS. Fingers. Rings. He, him too but yeah.

Watching all of this and still facing the same problem I was facing as I saw people screaming about the show. I can't fully get used to Jacob as Louis. They should've probably given him a different name. Use Lestat, but create another family for this 'Louis' (bc that's basically what they did. If I'm correct, even Louis' brother dies on doorsteps in the book? And I always thought it must have been Lestat. Either way, I don't think Louis' brother walked off the roof like in the show.)

I hate saying this 'cause it makes me sound like I'm a part of the problem, but: Louis looks different in the book (and it was clear he was white). He earns money by doing different things (even though, as I write, I realise that giving him whores instead of slaves kind of makes sense. They're just another kind of slaves.) Louis in the book dies in a different way (and Lestat definitely wasn't 'courting' him, he straight up decided to take Louis and enjoyed that very much).

I understand that this is a modern version. I get it. But a) my heart still lies with Claudia and what she had felt for Louis & what Louis felt for her b) I still long for good Louis 'cause I enjoy him a bit more that I enjoy Lestat (I don't think I even enjoy him, he's an ass in the book) & Pitt's Louis wasn't it. Sam looks the part, so my love kind of switches to that side. It's important to me how characters look, always has been. Even in fanfiction, if it stands against everything the character stands for, like tattoos and idk, veganism, and then in some AU a character is suddenly a meat eater and is covered in tattoos? I literally created an OC in my Uncharted 4 AU so I wouldn't change the entire personality of a character that already exist and could've had that role.

So while I enjoy the gay part (that is finally gay enough), I just don't see Louis LOUIS in Jacob. And I suspect same will happen to me with Claudia. Her I love very much & I'm sure they fucked that one up completely. Sam, though? Beautiful.

Lestat being disgusted with Louis? Slay, king.

What I also realised about this 'Louis': he whines less. It's a drama in the book (that I sometimes get tired of, I admit). In the show? It is a comedy. They make it funny on purpose.

I honestly have suuuch mixed feelings about them making it look like love. Oh, it was so pure, so genuine, and they were in love. Maybe that's the book talks in me bc it was never stated explicitly about Lestat being in love (even though the yearning was obvious). But it wasn't all pure, "How can I say no to you?" He was probably lonely and bored when he made Louis a vampire. They fought so much, they were annoyed at each other. I see some glimpses of it here, but I see how it tries to look more like a love story. And that gets to me.

I like how they portray that Louis was getting closer with Lestat and distant from his own family. In the book it's mostly far away. The family is there, but Louis doesn't interact with them much. And Lestat gives him the right idea, that he has to distant himself from them. They're going to grow old and die. He is not. He needs to let them live their own lives.

This IS a comedy.

Stop hiring actors that can't speak the language clearly. I had to rewind and listen closely & I still don't understand what his first word is. Russian is my native language, for god's sake. It's always the subtitles that announce that they speak Russian, not me catching it.

Lmao. If it was the movie or the book, I'd say he's being mean. This, however? He makes it sound true and not mean at all.

Lmaooo. He is, somehow, relatable. IDK what that says about me and my character development since 2018, when I watched IWTV (1994) last. Gotta rewatch it, I guess.

Predatory species. <3 Did the singer deserve to die for singing badly? No. Do I still enjoy Lestat being a hungry and angry meow meow? Yes. He can have a little treat. Though it's a shame that he decided to have Claudia for Louis as a treat, too. My baby girl deserved so much better.

This is such a huge leap from "just been created". I lost the track of when we went there.

I have no idea how this works, but I disliked him in the book. This moment, though? I felt like it was... right? And more right in the book than here? It was fitting in the book. Right words, wrong timing here, I think. But yes, very Lestat.

Of course he did, this manipulative bastard. His me all his toxicity, I'm longing to see him in all his beauty. The book had it way more from the very beginning Lestat turned him into a vampire.

And I thought I caught myself thinking during the episode: if the interview was THAT long, I'd probably be bored out of my mind. It's a LOT.

the Eye post

fun fact: i used the same seven colored pencils for both the thes eye and the tommy one, i just made the grayer shades more emphasized for the latter. thought that was a neat little detail.

q's eye here makes his skin look a lil more purple

i impulsively gave quackity an eyebrow when i didn't sketch it before, and the way it turned out bothered me >:((

not a wip because i absolutely would never give this abomination its own post, but this is basically what my scratch paper sheet looks like when i want to test out how different colors look with each other, and also get a really, Really rough idea of what the final product will look like. this is the process i go through Every time i draw something serious. 😭

can you see me struggling to figure out how to wrap the rune around q's pupil? and also how to make the rune not just Completely disappear bc of how dark his eye is? yeah. traditional art is a pain is the ass sometimes, but i'm still wayy better at it.

also shoutout to @alexanderwesker for giving me an idea of what the rune on q's eye looks like, because i like being as accurate as i can when i draw stuff, so that was very much appreciated!

the part 2 to the hero's journey comic

i went fucking Ham during the hero's journey assignment, so much so that i literally planned like 19 more panels than what you saw in the original post (27 panels planned in total). but then i realized that i had like Four Whole Days to do that assignment, and would definitely not be able to do that many, especially not without burning out.

so i instead settled for the very first 8 panels that i planned (though even then, i had to abridge a lot of it, and also cut slime entirely from it, bc otherwise those 8 would have been 14 whole panels, and i think i would actually die-), since that was just enough to show two different steps of the hero's journey (crossing the threshold and meeting the mentor btw. i could probably do a whole analysis on how wesker's stories fit into the hero's journey if i wanted to, but i'm lazy rn and this post is already pretty long), and that was the big grading requirement. (i got 100% on that assignment btw 💪and my english teacher still has no clue that he graded minecraft fanfiction fanart LMAO) but this one is what i would have included if i had more time on the project, and could include more of the story, but as it stands, i made this one in my own leisure, because comics are fun to do.

anyways, with that little rant aside, i tried my best to make q look younger than quackity, and really accentuate the difference between them. idk how i feel about how q turned out though.

i'm really proud of the paneling, and i'm also kinda proud of the first frame with quackity's face in particular bc i thought it looked cool, like an actual comic book or something. but i couldn't figure out the card physics or perspective and that's what ultimately made me choose to abandon it 💔 maybe i'll try attempting this page again when i'm feeling more daring (as well as the other panels that i still haven't even drawn yet), but this wip has been collecting dust for a couple of months now so i figured i'd share it here anyway.

i drew palido a bit ago, but bro got somehow managed to get crinkled in my bag, even while literally being Inside of my sketchbook 🤨

it's not Too awfully noticeable though, especially bc the fold isn't On the drawing itself, so i might be able to salvage him and post a finished version someday... but i kinda halted progress on him for the time being bc of it, so here he is. </3

i 1000% want to redraw this someday, just because i think the idea behind it is so fucking neat.

honestly, this one wasn't too bad at all, especially since i did all of it (besides the bones bc i think my health professions teacher would be disappointed if i got them wrong, and also the rune bc i care way too much about accuracy) without any reference, which is a pretty impressive feat for me and my aphantasia. but yeahh i think it could definitely be better, and really, this drawing was ultimately something that i just drew in class to keep myself busy for a bit bc i had way too much freetime that day. it wasn't intended to be post-worthy or anything.

but i think that the idea behind it is definitely post-worthy. maybe i'll even add a thes and/or youngerbur addition once i get more information about them and just how they've changed yk.

i had no clue how to draw the bones in that position, i probably could've done more research but. yeah no i don't have an excuse, i just couldn't be bothered that day lmao.

i was also gonna bloody q's hands a bit if i ever got to the coloring stage. like a little nod to when he lost himself to Madness. is the blood actually there? who knows, we're seeing it from his eyes, so for all we know, the rune isn't even lit up either, and he's just remembering it being so. remembering the moment he acted so unlike how he used to be.

the bones are definitely there for charlie though, poor guy...

also can y'all tell that i drew the rune in like. 5 seconds. bc yeah.

i had way more wips to share but i have literally no clue where they went, and also the tumblr picture limit is getitng close so ig that's all for now </3
