The worst thing Studio 100 ever created?

Let me introduce; Jabaloe. Wanna know why it’s so bad? Please keep reading:

I’ve never seen this show before and didn’t know it existed until today, and by God, I hate it. It can be the worst thing Studio 100 ever has produced... It’s not funny (and the laughing track is making everything even more unfunny), the characters are annoying and everybody is an extreme stereotype except for the sheriff and the main character Joe. Also, I’ve never been more annoyed by both Walter Baele and Peter Thyssen in my LIFE (and I LOVE Peter otherwise!!)

I saw a whole episode and I almost couldn’t stand it. Then I decided that I had to watch at least some more to get a full view of it, and I swear it became worse and worse with each episode... The very clear stereotypes are set in like five minutes and after that they’re just cringy, especially Walter and Peter, God I can’t stress that enough how much I wish they’d go away in every scene they’re in.

Walter is playing Joe’s mother, Moe Jabaloe, a woman. Harr de harr, very funny; A man in a dress with ugly makeup doing a girly voice. “Hilarious”. Yes it’s old humour that doesn’t fly today but usually I can take it with older shows or even newer shows that doesn’t know better or are doing it in a good way... But, this show was made in 2012. Fucking 2 0 1 2 ??? Add the fact that among the six characters in the show, only one of them is a female played by a female. ONE, and she’s pretty much only there to be a sex appeal give the men a woman to fight over, since she barely has any character traits of her own and often I forget she’s in a scene at all. Belgium showing their incredible uninterest for gender equality again...

Peter is playing a stupid cowboy. A hillbilly. An idiot. He’s doing it so over the top that I cringe every scene he’s in. It all makes me go “oh, dear, no, WHY did you say yes to this role...??? You can do SO MUCH better!? Who hurt you this way??”

The episodes are boring at best... And incredibly annoying at worst. They are often dumb, with no repercussions for anything. Especially since all the characters are grown up, it feels very weird. Like one episode (the first one I watched) was about the Sheriff (Sven de Ridder <3) fooling everybody that he was brave by making Peter (the idiot) pretend that he’s a thief. They of course discover how it really is (because this plot is older than buttered toast) and tricks him back by having two other characters dress up as the same thief. They tease him a bit, making him scared, then show that it’s only them and... That’s it. He says “aw you got me” and they tease him some more and it’s just ends.

It’s just so braindead... And I’ve been seeing a LOT of Studio 100 shows by now. Even Big & Betsy (which we will talk about another day) is so much more entertaining because of the lovely characters and the more interesting episodes (and also, no fucking laughing track). If Jabaloe is targeted towards older kids than Big & Betsy, then the episodes are far too dumb and the show is far too boring. If it’s targeted towards the same age as Big & Betsy, then what’s with the, at times, sexual humour?

This makes me so confused... I don’t recommend this show, at all, and this isn’t the first post I make about the show because I have so much more to talk about. There are a few positive things about the show too, it’s not the worst thing ever (just really bad). But I’ll talk more about that in the next post...

Na de fantastische kerstshow vorig jaar kreeg ik ook dit jaar mijn zus overtuigd mee te gaan naar de nieuwe Samson & Gert kerstshow. Jammer genoeg lag ze donderdagavond nog niet goed en wel in haar bed of ze strompelde weer naar beneden met de melding ‘Broer Troy, we hebben een probleemke’. Na het Kerstfeest eerder die dag werd ze ziek en toen ik haar vrijdagochtend wakker maakte voor het vertrek bleek ze nog niet veel beter. Ze ging terug naar bed terwijl ik al stevig baalde dat ik de kerstshow alsnog zou moeten missen. Een kleine 2 uurtjes slaap later zag ze er al wat beter uit, kwam er al wat meer gebabbel uit haar mond en voelde ze haar ook beter. Gewapend met wat medicatie en een plastiek zakje voor op de trein mocht het plots toch nodig blijken haalden we onze allerlaatste trein en geraakten we net op tijd in De Panne voor de kerstshow.

Net als vorig jaar is het scenario van Viktor Verhulst en naar mijn gevoel ligt het niveau van de show weer iets meer in lijn zoals de spannende shows uit de jaren ’90. Na showopener ‘We Gaan Beginnen’ halen Samson & Gert hun vrienden op het podium. Eerst mag de burgemeester aantreden. Echter is hij gehuld in een tennisoutfit en heeft hij een tennisraket mee. Samson is uiteraard nieuwsgierig en vraagt dan ook wat de burgemeester van plan is met ‘die slappe tet’. Zowel Gert als de burgemeester kunnen zich niet weerhouden van uit te barsten in een lichte slappe lach, verrast door wat de pratende hond zegt. ‘Die hadden we nog niet gehad’ en ‘hij is groot geworden’ is het enige wat Gert en de burgemeester weten te repliceren vooraleer de burgemeester meedeelt dat Marie, de huishoudster, naar Lourdes is. Ook Van Leemhuyzen ziet daardoor de kans een hele dag te genieten van zijn Gameboy. Alberto zijn maamaa is ook mee op groepsreis naar Lourdes waardoor hij zich zal bezigheden met het leegeten van een hele zak snoep. Echter zijn de dames vooruitziend geweest en hebben ze Alberto’s nicht, Angela, ingeschakeld om een oogje in het zeil te houden. Een geluk bij een ongeluk wanneer de burgemeester een brief ontvangt dat meneer Dobbermans naar het dorp zal komen voor een heuse hondenwedstrijd want Angela is hondenkapster! Wanneer Van Leemhuyzen en Alberto het papier wegbrengen worden ze verrast door een schatkaart die uit de lucht komt gevallen. Kapitein Lena Lang heeft een schat verborgen en door het oplossen van verschillende opdrachten kunnen ze deze terugvinden. Het levert een spannende opdrachtentocht op alsook een verrassende metamorfose voor Samson die de Jani in de burgemeester naar boven haalt.

De Samson & Gert Kerstshow 2018 – 2019 staat bol van de oude en nieuwe hits, met ‘Handen Hoog’ en kerstsingle ‘Samson de Kersthond’ die dit jaar nog verschenen maar ook ‘Wij Gaan Beginnen’, ‘Wij zijn bij de Brandweer’ en ’10 miljoen’. In de show zelf diepen Alberto en Van Leemhuyzen zelfs ‘Wij Zijn Rijk’ nog even op, een lang vergeten Samson-nummer.

Kortom staat ook deze show weer bol van de dolle fratsen, vriendschap en nostalgische liedjes.

Na de show geniet je nog van een dag Plopsaland waar tijdens de eerste week van de Kerstvakantie de Ketnetfandagen lopen. Kaatje, De Helden,… ze verwelkomen de kinderen met graagte. Mijn zus had echter alleen maar oog voor ‘Heidi the Ride’ en of die al dan niet open ging. Een beetje ziek zijn zou haar duidelijk niet tegenhouden. Zelf was ik daar nog niet echt van overtuigd en daar Heidi nog niet open was zetten we koers naar ‘Het bos van Plop’. In tegenstelling tot vorig jaar is het bijzonder druk in het park en het was dan ook meer dan een uur schuiven. Daarna wou mijn zus toch zeker iets wilder en gingen we naar ‘Viktor’s Race’ en zelfs die vond ze nog niet uitgelaten genoeg. Ze was dan ook blij daar tijdens het aanschuiven op te merken dat er een karretje over ‘Heidi the Ride’ denderde en dus moesten we wel koers zetten naar de attractie.

Meer dan anderhalf uur moesten we aanschuiven, maar het leverde wel een spannende rit op zo in het donker! En ook één met een fantastisch uitzicht bovenaan met alle lichtjes in het park en de omliggende gemeenten. Zeer waarschijnlijk ook de rit waar ik het luidst gilde want in het donker leek Heidi nog net iets harder en hoger te gaan dan anders.

Het vormde tevens de laatste attractie voordat we nog snel genoten van ‘Winter Magic’, het lichtfestival van Plopsaland voordat we weer huiswaarts keerden met een zichtbaar vermoeide zus. Maar wel met twee voldane kinderharten.

MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas on Sunday announced a major revamp triggered by the retirement of some senior officials of the police organization.

Sinas named Brig. Gen. Luisito Magnaye as new director of PNP Health Service, replacing Brig. Gen. Nolasco Bathan who retired on Sunday.

He also appointed Maj. Gen. Dennis P. Agustin to replace PNP Director for Intelligence Maj. Gen. Amado Clifton Empiso who will retire Feb. 6, and Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferror as acting Director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) replacing Maj. Gen. Joel Napoleon Coronel who is set to retire on Feb. 11.

“We are infusing new blood into the command structure to fill the void created by the retirement of some senior officials and ensure continuity of command,” Sinas said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Domingo Lucas was named as the new Director for Research and Development while Brig. Gen. Florencio Ortilla was designated as the new head of the Aviation Security Group.

Sinas named Brig. Gen. Jon Arnaldo as the executive officer of the Directorate for Intelligence while Col. Tellio C Ngis-O was appointed as acting Deputy Director of the Special Action Force.

Col. John Guygoyon is now the acting executive officer of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management while Col. Angeles Geñorga Jr. as acting Dean of Academics of the PNP Academy.

Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Llanera now heads the Explosive and Ordnance Division and Canine Group while Brig. Gen. Samuel Nacion in the new deputy director of the National Police Training Institute; Col. Victor Valencia is now the acting executive officer of the Directorate for Research and Development; and Col. Robert Gallardo as acting chief of the Legislative Affairs Center of the Directorate for Plans.

Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz was named as the new director of the Southern Police District (SPD) which covers the cities of Parañaque, Pasay, Makati, Taguig, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, and the municipality of Pateros.

On the other hand, Brig. Gen. Nelson Bondoc was appointed as the new district director of the Northern Police District which covers Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela.

Other senior officers assigned in Metro Manila are Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra as deputy regional director for Administration of the National Capital Region Police Office; Brig. Gen. Benjamin Acorda as the deputy regional director for Operations of the National Capital Region Police Office.

Brig. Gen. Emannuel Peralta, formerly assigned to the SPD and was replaced by Cruz, is now the regional director of Police Regional Office in Ilocos Region (PRO-1).

Peralta replaced Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, whose appointment as the new head of the Directorate for Information and Communication Technology Management (DICTM) will make him earn promotion to two-star rank.

Brig. Gen. Celso Bael was named as the number two man of the Mimaropa (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) regional police, while Col. Ronaldo Cabral also assumed the same position for PRO 10, or Northern Mindanao.

Brig. Gen. Walter Pornillos, was named as the deputy regional director for Administration in Bangsamoro Administration Region, the same position given to Col. Victor Wanchakan for the PRO 9 or Zamboanga Peninsula.

Others affected in the reshuffle are as follows:

Brig. Gen. Walfredo Gimpaya Pornillos from Directorate for Plans (DPL) to PRO Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (BAR); Brig. Gen. Jonathan Mendoza Ureta from PNP-Explosive and Ordinance Division/K9 to Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (PHAU-DPRM); Brig. Gen. Benjamin Capati Villasis Jr. from Directorate for Investigation and Detection Management (DIDM) to PHAU-DPRM; and Col. Tellio Colte Ngis from PRO BAR to Special Action Force.

Sinas said reshuffle is effective on Feb. 1. (PNA)
