Maya the Bee is one of those underrated franchises that deserves way more recognition than it does. The characters are funny and quirky, the landscapes are beautiful, for the movies at least, and if you're looking for a calm but upbeat show, this is for you.

let’s talk about Gideon
・who is Gideon?
Gideon is a messenger from the High Council as well as a mage. He carries a tall staff with him which is used to cast magic spells. With his magic Gideon can create a protective circle by using the spell “imperia”.
Gideon’s appearance seems to be inspired by Arabian legend. Think of genies or wizards from fairytales.
・his personality
manners
It is very obvious that Gideon is well-mannered. Even after Vlad and Wilko attacked him due to a misunderstanding. Gideon remains polite despite almost losing his breath.
well-read
Gideon seems to possess a general knowledge of creatures, as is evident when he talks about the traits of werewolves. Also, when they are trying to find a piece of parchment, Gideon finds an Atlas Oculta instead — he presents a new solution to them find the others.
Although it is not made very clear whether he simply enjoys learning about other creatures or if he just studied werewolves because he would be joining the Night Watch and wanted to know more about his fellow teammates (probable –in my opinion– considering what he knows about Keelin when they first meet)
brave
Of course there is not much known about Gideon’s life prior to appearing in this movie, and with his position as a messenger he might have travelled a lot, but maybe not been involved in battles. So I would say he is very brave for even considering helping the Night Watch and others defeat Nemezza and her gate.
・his journey
If I were to sum up Gideon’s arc throughout the movie, it would be that he was ready to join the Night Watch at the beginning, but acknowledges that it is better for Vlad to stay and says that he won’t be Vlad’s replacement.
At the start, he is courteous and seems honoured to take over Vlad’s position as a member of the Night Watch. Important to note is that there seems to be no ill will between Gideon and Vlad. Vlad knows the decision is out of Gideon’s hands and Gideon is not fishing for the position, just the one who is set to take over due to the command of 77.
While spending time with the Night Watch and their entourage, he learns how good of a team Wilko, Keelin and Vlad are when they are together.
In the end, Gideon decides that he shouldn’t accept the position to become a member of the Night Watch. He is even the one to propose to the President that the current members of the Night Watch should stay together for as long as they want.
Having typed all of this, there is just one last thing I want to mention…
・his transformation
We didn’t get to see his transformation!! Suddenly he changed eye colour and has a sign on his forehead. I mean it makes sense for the others to not comment on this, but the movie doesn’t even acknowledge it! Same goes for Roman, by the way. Suddenly he got fangs and no ponytail and the movie doesn’t even mention it.
