hello wildcats !!!!!!!!!!!! over the past couple of years i have been very privileged to be involved in the wonderful hsmtmts tumblr fandom and i have had a BLAST !! unfortunately the show has come to an end (until the spin off is announced, at least) (guys let me have this) and i for one am NOT ready to say goodbye to something that has become so dear to my heart.

Jason and Leo and the sensation of being left behind and their abandonment issues and how Jason utilizes that experience by constantly pushing himself and being affectionate and kind because maybe if he proves how much he cares, they won’t leave him and Leo takes his experience to make jokes and hold himself at arms length and yeah he’s nice to people when they’re nice to him but he won’t ask for help or participate unless he has to because he knows by now no one is gonna stay so he refuses to give himself the opportunity to connect
they clash with each other over this. they love each other so much but neither of them can fucking speak their emotions because jason’s emotions have been beaten out of him and leo can’t feel his emotions or he’ll break the fuck down. so instead they’re pushing against each other, never colliding, never breaking open, just violently pushing back and back and back, and jason wants leo to stay and leo wants jason to stay but neither of them can say just go out and say it
jason is overwhelming and leo likes it because he’s physically affectionate too but he needs his space so he vanishes for hours at a time and jason doesn’t understand and he just keeps pushing harder and harder to show leo that he loves him, that he wants him around, and leo keeps drowning in it so much that he has to hide in order to breathe, but all jason sees is someone trying to get away from him so he pulls back because he doesn’t want it to hurt when leo leaves him (again, he left him once before for someone else but he came back with a smile and jason fell because he still loves him, always will and it hurts and it hurts and it hurts)
leo sees jason pulling back, lowering his offers for help, lowering the time they spend around each other, cutting down how much he seeks out leo’s hand when they’re alone, how he stops hovering so close and he thinks, yeah this makes sense, this is what always happens, and he speaks less about his life and the things he’s doing, and jason sees it as proof positive that leo only feels bound to him because of the things they went through so jason pulls apart and leo pulls apart and they pull apart and pull apart and pull apart until they no longer orbit around each other, until the collision isn’t a thing, they’re just two forces sliding past one another, two forces suddenly alone
