Pressed Flowers Hat #2

I started a new pressed flowers hat a couple days ago and it is knitting up spectacularly with a mystery stash hand dye purchased in chicago and a pepto-bismol uni merino. i’m using sock and downsized to a US 3 but made a huge and bulky… cuff? brim? so the overall size should be like a skully hat (fit to your skull!).

today i’m flying to palm springs so i have everything cutely stashed in my backpack in individual ziplock bags. I asked the yarn store proprietor about twisting and she recommended i use plastic bags to keep things neat. i’ve never worried to much about the look of things in process but twisting strands is a hell below hell.

maybe it’s just me but i feel that knitters all have this very short fuse with people but enormous patience with objects and other in-animates or animates lacking conscience.

I had just enough time to take photos before work today, in the hopes that early morning light would be better than evening no light, but it wasn’t much better. I got this Tokito merino top, and sexy skirt from a random pinup brand both at the Sallys in October last year, when lockdowns eased and we could go outside for the first time in months. They were both about $5, and I thought they looked so good together that I usually only wear them together. The tan trim matches my so-called nude tights. I’ve got my RMK ankle boots, and I wore my big tan wool coat because it’s freezing again today. Tonight I’m going out to the Art Gallery of New South Wales to see the Archibald, and I love to dress nicely when I go to the art gallery. I used to work there on and off while I was at uni, and we were encouraged to dress stylishly in all black. Earlier this week, our deeply disliked Congress orchestrated a coup d'etat, ousting Vizcarra and making President someone who 1) when elected as a member of our Congress, only got 5k votes, that's not even 1% of the region (as US has states, we have departments/regions) he "represented", 2) has a fake degree by an unlicensed uni (and now he's trying to stop the organization that monitors universities/institutes in general so this is forgotten), 3) is against our Peruvian population, whose first law was to APPROVE POLICE BRUTALITY AGAINST OUR PACIFIC PROTESTS. THEY ARE NOW LITERALLY TRYING TO KILL US, yesterday they released tear gas inside a bus full of kids, babies, PEOPLE WHO WERE NOT PROTESTING.

Je quitte l’Amérique du Sud avec le discours d’un militaire président auto-proclamé pour trouver, sitôt arrivé à New York, l’un des membres de la junte chilienne, l’amiral Merino, invité d’hommes d’affaires américains. Le business prend le dessus sur les droits de l’homme, cela a toujours été ainsi et je ne pense pas que cela changera un jour. De toutes manières, aux États Unis, les affaires sont reines. Les manifestants qui marchent devant l’endroit où se déroule le repas pointent la responsabilité de la C.I.A dans le coup d’état au Chili. L’organisation américaine a soutenu financièrement la grève** des camionneurs qui dura du 11 octobre au 5 novembre 1972, avec comme  but la déstabilisation du gouvernement chilien. D’autres causes ont aussi contribué à la déstabilisation de l’économie chilienne, y compris des mesures prises par l’Union Populaire, mais sur le fond l’organisation américaine a été très présente, comme partout en Amérique Latine, chasse gardée américaine.

New York est la ville cosmopolite par excellence. Il est facile, en prenant le métro de faire un tour du monde en un peu plus de 80 minutes et de sauter d’un continent à l’autre. On y parle toutes les langues, on y côtoie tous les types d’habitants de la planète, on y croise toutes les croyances qui vivent en bon voisinage.

Les latinos, réfugiés des coups d’états violents qui ont frappé l’Amérique latine, ont rejoint les Porto Ricains pour former une des communautés la plus importante de la ville monde qu’est New York.
