Whenever Rudy De Anda releases brand-new music, we instantly fall in love with his beautifully-crafted pop songs again. That’s precisely the case with his latest offering, 'Closet Botanist', somewhat of a departure from Rudy’s beachy, psych-rock roots, which takes cues from The Velvet Underground and The Kinks for inspiration. The result is a dreamy, nostalgic journey filled with subtle nuances and delicate layers of instrumentation. His distinctive, soothing tones tie it together, making it a worthy addition to Rudy’s impressive discography.

See drawing WIP AT BOTTOM
Its more genre based broZone
It’s so late but I just finished reading
John Dory's Quick and Concise Guide on How To Survive by rytheoneandonly !
It was so A M A Z I N G it was brilliant! The writing and how it stuck to the source material (I’m assuming In all fairness I’ve haven’t fully seen the movie but I know what happens and I’ve seen so much of the community any how that I don’t care so)
but also how it felt like Trolls, like it had the correct humour and the characters were pushed so that they were actually believable, but aswell with the drama!
Like SPOILER John Dory’s whole, no scar fear because he’s more concerned about his brothers rather than himself but also, he clearly knows what he’s doing thing was so good, I want to draw him like surrounded by mountains and ice cliffs so bad
I just wish it dove into Floyd as a character more, rather than just, Floyd hung out with Rockers and is scared and cries so easily thing. But still it also felt fine
Enough Rambling
I like to think that the bros are more genre different, like here’s some examples
Floyd is more rock and punk
Clay is more rap and rnb (I mean really Kid Cudi)
Bruce is more tropical and slow (idk what to call it)
John Dory’s more country and Lana Del Ray like

What do you think are some elements of music associated with mermaid energy? Have u ever found that music that taps into this energy have commonalities? A basic commanility I suppose would be having water/the ocean feature prominently in the music videos
I would say
Easygoing smooth,sensual, light music
RnB, Neo Soul, Classical. Slow Jams
Tropical Global music like Bossa Nova, Slower Afro Beats and so on
Music about the beach, ocean, life by the sea
Anything that eases your nerves and calms your spirit cause thats what the water element is partially about

Most-Listened of August 2023
(via stats.fm/spotistats)
[last month]
1. Deacon Blues -- Steely Dan (i may be depressed... bottom text. but also this song is GORGEOUS!! i've been singing the chorus to myself over and over again all month)
2. Gay Frogs (Alex Jones Remix) -- Placeboing, Alex Jones (this was in the #1 spot for most of the month, but luckily it got replaced before the 31st. i would like to issue a formal apology for my taste in music...)
3. Moonlight Mile -- The Rolling Stones (soundtrack for moving back to university, which i did earlier this month)
4. Quiet Night -- Oohyo (i love the feeling of falling asleep, and "quiet night" reminds me of that feeling!)
5. People -- Libianca (this is such a good-texture song! i can honestly see it being on my most-listened lists for the rest of the year??)
6. Maybe You Saved Me -- Bad Suns, PVRIS (PLEASE don't let this be the first bad suns song you listen to it's literally not that good, especially compared to their other stuff. i can't explain why i like it so much, it is literally the boringest of boring pop songs i think i've just been pavlov'ed into becoming obsessed with everything christo bowman sings)
7. Glasses -- IU (i have no idea how this got here, but yay IU!!! "zezé" from that album is WAY better tho)
8. bad idea right? -- Olivia Rodrigo (OH MY GOD THIS SONG IS SO FUN. INSTANT! FUCKING! CLASSIC! i wish the barbie movie soundtrack made me feel as obnoxiously teenage-girl-y as this song does)
9. Time Difference -- Infinite (i very love this production!!! i feel like i can get lost in it, it's beautiful)
10. Get It Together -- Genshin (found this on someone's rnb study playlist a few weeks ago, and i've been leaving it on repeat all the time since then)
11. Los Cuerpos -- Alba Reche, Fuel Fandango (this song would have been on this list even if it was just a 3-minute version of that acappella intro, it's SO good)
12. Delicate -- Taylor Swift (you've seen all the aesthetic, good-texture music on this list. is this really a surprise?)
13. Lay Low -- YooA (speaking of good-texture music--crunchy song!!)
14. None of My Business -- Itzy (i would NOT have expected this to be my favorite song from their latest album, but i'm down BAD)
15. Hard Times -- Paramore (will i get bullied off tumblr if i say this is my favorite paramore?)
Other Notable Most-Listened Songs:
#16: Lemon Black Tea -- Jo Yuri (probably my favorite release from this month, definitely my favorite kpop release from this month!)
#25: Canciones de Amor a Ti -- Rigoberta Bandini (tell me you watched red white & royal blue without telling me you watched red white and royal blue... btw i thought the movie was terrible, especially compared to how awesome the book was, but at least this song is great!!)
#26: Air Force One -- Odd Eye Circle (OH I GET THIS ONE NOW.)
#39: Madeline -- Limelight (another favorite release from this month! look, I'M not over tropical house even if you are)

Weekly Vocajournal #30 (09/04 - 16/04)
30 entries and looking forward to many more! Ended up just posting it over here from the get go for better organization.
youtube
regulus - RED (ft. Hatsune Miku)
First regulus upload in about a year! Some chill and nostalgic (tropical?) house. Miku is beautiful while still robotic.
UtsuP - SUSHI GO ROUND (ft. ROSE)
UtsuP's electronic influence has been apparent in his latest album and songs, but this was especially trap-y. As an electro enjoyer, his music is still heavy, but the "heavy" is more in an electronic sense than a metal sense in this song. ROSE feels right at home, and out of the CeVIO banks he's been using I hope he keeps using her.
HSP/Kanzaki Hiro - Lost Forever (ft. Hatsune Miku) [Extended Mix]
HSP's back with some trance! Grand with the string section and haunting with the husky, echo-y Miku tuning. The trance feel is even more pervasive in the 6-minute extended mix (which is unfortunately Soundcloud-only).
Amenomurakumo-P - GARBAGE (ft. Chis-A)
Stylish, piano-heavy RnB-rock. Chis-A's mature, natural tuning helped sell it for me. Pleasant surprise from Amenomurakumo-P, since their usual stuff is high-energy.
Other Cool Stuff:
A4。- Tokimeki! Star☆Land !。(ft. KAFU)
NILFRUITS - Ameri (ft. vflower)
Beta boy - medicine box (ft. Kuzuda Yone, Yamine Renri)
Hiiragi Kirai - Nero (ft. vflower)
Dye4geN - Neverland (ft. KAFU)
nora/SeironxxP - Kanzen Haiboku Shouri Sengen (ft. Megurine Luka)
R Sound Design - Conspiracist (ft. Ci flower)
Daruma Teikoku - Entropy (ft. Hatsune Miku)
SLAVE.V-V-R - Let’s die together with the piano after it breaks (ft. HARU)

🍧 SHAVED ICE - do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?
Plum: Loads of things, stuffed toys, books, photos, most of which are at home in Alola with her family. She has a couple of photos from her 10th birthday that seem to mean a lot to her, her family perhaps could have been more present while she was growing up, but they were both there with her on that day, a day she was gifted her first ever pokemon parter missy as a little dratini. She’s framed them, they currently hang in her Dotaku apartment. Should she lose them she’d probably cry a little but knows its just a thing, the memory remains.
Grey: Grey kept his dads jacket, and still uses it from time to time. Use to be so big on him but now he cant do the zip up. He doesn’t say it, but he likes to have it around still, and sometimes wears it to go visit his family. In all honesty it fits peach better now days, but thats ok, he just likes seeing it. If it were to finally be lost or broken, he’d try to repair it, or if that is impossible, he’d sulk for a few days. He may have to go home and steal another jacket, but nothing compares, that one had significance.
Peach: She’s got a family ring, not that she tells anyone thats what it is. On rare occasion is used to gain entry to underground locations. No one questions her if she’s got that. She use to never wear it, but as she’s aged, it’s crept into her collection, snuck on her hands with several other rings to make it less obvious, mixed and matched. It’s not easy to tell wether she likes or hates it, but if she was to lose it, she’d be very conflicted. Its not a good memory receiving it, but it also kind of was? Bitter sweet. One of the first and only moments her mother seemed not disappointed with her, sadly she was disappointed with herself…or proud for persevering? It’s a messy memory.
🎵 MUSIC NOTE - what is their playlist like? their favourite artists? do you associate a particular song with them?
Plum: All over the place. She loves a lot of up beat pop, RnB, but also thrives on anything with a brass section. The sort to have three playlists for moods, no more, no less. Sad, happy, running. (I associate Plum with: MEUTE - You & Me)
Grey: his family is large so he’s perfected the art of making a playlist to suit all ages. For this reason he’s wise to a lot of older songs and bands that perhaps got forgotten by the younger crowd. This doesn’t make his taste old school, he’s very adaptable. Knows what to play at any given moment to get a party going. His personal taste a wide and varied, appreciating almost all genres for one reason or another. A sucker for classic rock though. (I associate Grey with: Jank Setup - Prince Of Something)
Peach: anything with a filthy bass line, or that slaps hard. Never has sad songs on. Her lack of connection to music is apparent, having not had much music in her home as a child or teenager. She’s not very knowledgable on it as a topic, but over the years with Grey has learnt to enjoy it, and even found songs she actually enjoys, will never put a song on if asked. (I associate Peach with: YONAKA - Seize The Power)
💐 BOUQUET - create a bouqet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favourite?
Plum: Classic romantic, red roses, gypsophila, maybe flamboyant white lilies. BUT! She’s from the tropics, and Peach will especially pick up on this, often favouring Bird of Paradise or Heliconia, palms and broad leaves, a bit more fancy than your average Johto garden can produce. However her favourite is Plumeria. Unrivalled in scent, she gets all nostalgic when she smells them.
Grey: Loves greens, whites and grasses. He’s the sort to revel in ferns, loves them. Fond of a Chrysanthemum, loves a wax flower. He’s big on textures, so the fancy seed heads from some species also get a lot of love from him.
Peach: impossible to pick a single fav, she’s forever asked this question and it keeps her up at night. In her heart of hearts she knows its Forget-Me-Nots, though why she can’t remember, ironically. Her choices are always humble. Wildflower, big blousy daisys that you see growing on the side of roads, knapweed, cornflower, ragwort, buttercups, all the stuff you see pop up through cracks in the concrete. Defiant. Sure fancy is nice, but it doesn’t beat a bunch picked by someone you love who thought of you while out on a walk. Nothing compares.

it's a lot to think about. right? how many failed auditions and attempts have crossed her path already? but she can't give up. ara isn't the youngest sprite around anymore, but that... that doesn't mean anything! the girl can still compete and do her best. her toughest competition should be herself, but she knows that the crowd that also attends the same auditions as her also are in a mindset of their own. it's a whole ordeal and it's so massive. she'd missed out on the first season already, and marvelled at that whilst following up with it in between her lessons and job. if she's lucky... she'll make it in to at least learn more skills through the show, or at least be memorable enough. it's especially daunting when all the large labels are there.
they're split into separate groups and ara finds herself with with lime entertainment. they want a performance, she will give them a performance. somehow, there's an inkling that this is the most straight-forward part of the process. ara knows how to dance, and she's practiced how to keep her voice steady whilst dancing. sure, there are areas where she can improve in singing or rapping, but she can be molded into it. she's got the base. she can only improve. she has to think positively because nobody else in this industry will do it for her. for her solo, ara performs a part of the choreography from k/da pop/stars, a dance she is rather comfortable with and has danced to before. she wants to showcase what she has, so she also chooses to sing for the audition. despite not being the best singer, that she is on tune and can maintain her breath while dancing. the sixty seconds feels like the fastest and longest minute, all at the same time. and then she's whisked off to the audition portion with SR media. the time to absorb what actually occurred is lost on her as the transition was much too fast, with the questionnaires next. this - this definitely is more difficult than the performance part with lime. but it's important too. quite like a job interview, where she never practices the questions and wings them. that is... definitely what this reminds her of.
"what style of music/performance suits you best and why?"
ara clears her throat before responding. although it's not practiced, this is something she's thought about before. "i really enjoy upbeat music and performances with complex choreography. i would say that while i enjoy listening to ballads, i may not be the best at performing one at this moment. a song that is harmonious with a thought out dance? i am all for that. upbeat pop, rnb, hip hop. cutesy, even, as long as it is energetic. i enjoy expressing myself through dance the most."
"why do you want to become a kpop idol?"
"this sort of relates to the last question but i enjoy dancing a lot. i enjoy performing on a stage, and i enjoy being in the spotlight. i've danced in a group before and i loved performing on stage and in competitions for that, but i aspire to make a career out of it. to be able to spread it with fans, and a group to become our best selves. that would be cool."
"would you rather go to a tropical island or to the north pole?"
"i would go to the north pole. i've heard that depending on when you go, the days can be mostly daylight, or night and dark. that would be marvelous to experience and quite fascinating, something that i haven't been able to experience anywhere else thus far! also i'm not very good at swimming... so the north pole intrigues me the best." she wonders what this question has to do with the rest of the questions that have been asked so far, but it seems that not all questions were about performing. it
“What is the most interesting place that you have been to wearing the shoes that you’re wearing now?”
"oh... the most interesting place with this pair of shoes.. well.. i actually wore a specific pair of shoes from my collection." it was one of her few dance sneakers. not the freshest pair, but a bit well loved and definitely danced through. "the dance studio that i work at! that would be the most interesting place. i teach very young kids in beginner dance and lets just say, there is never a day that is the same. i am very privileged that way." she wished she had something more exciting to say about her shoes but this pair were well-loved, and not that well-travelled in her opinion.
surely, studio delta's audition was last for a reason. ara wasn't sure what to expect, the initial video such a daunting warning. something that she can do beyond... dancing or singing. ara had some tricks up her sleeve, but what would make her stand out? well... she didn't actually prepare anything with her but luckily she does know how to juggle. looking through her bag, she tries to find some things that would make do for juggling. it's the best she can do with what she has. it's been a while since ara's done this too, so she's rusty too. heavens. she has a lacrosse ball for whenever she accidentally hurt her foot, and... a makeup compact, and she unclips a plushie chain off her bag. this will have to do. "i... can show you how i juggle!" the items were different weights so she might be a bit off kilter, but ara knows she'll have to do it. if anything falls, she can laugh it off ( but again, positivity here. she can do it. ) she starts with the ball first, and then lumps in the lightest item which is the plushie. so far so good, before tossing up the compact too. she better not drop that. seven years of bad luck? hell no. but once the momentum picks up, ara's able to continue doing it again- just like riding a bike. after doing it for some time, she pulls back, extremely relieved that nothing dropped through the bit. "and no, i wasn't apart of a circus act before!"

also babes I’m tryna get into cix, any songs you would recommend?
Hell yeah!
Alright a small disclaimer though: In my experience, all of Cix's songs are growers. If you aren't feeling it initially, you will totally vibe after the next few listens.
Also, some of their songs are very heavy in the sense that the content can be rough, and perhaps a little angsty but I mean... Their meanings are pretty solid at least.
Let me start with their title tracks since, most of those are bangers ngl.
These aren't recommendations per se but I'll give you a sloppy description and you can probably gauge what might be worth listening to.
[the red and blue ones are the main ones that I'm technically recommending or they're my faves.]
I hope this helps? lmao-
Movie Star - It's sultry and kinda groovy; reminds me of lucid dream by aespa and some of vixx/sf9 songs. (one of my favorites for sure).
Jungle - straight banger, pretty moody though, somewhat slow bpm and is 100% a grower. the more I listened, the more things I noticed within the song that just accentuates the overall song.
Numb - the break at the chorus is pretty solid, not my first recommendation but can definitely be enjoyable if you like a mix of noisy sounds and what I'd describe as 'sleek' sounds lol.
My New World - This is their Japanese release and ... I'm starting to realize their overall sound tends to be smooth and steady... powerful sounds that make you feel like a main character that's trying to overcome some great evil. So that's the main essence of this song lmao.
Wave - pretty feel good, relaxed. Reminds me of the view by stray kids.
Off my mind - has as rich rythmic instrumental, pretty sultry/groovy sound. Nothing stand out but a solid song. The chorus has an engaging beginning.
Pinky Swear - Another Japanese release that is very wholesome and just feels like someone is telling you things will be alright.
Save me, Kill me - It makes me oddly nostalgic. It has this bittersweet sound to it. It's basically a tragic song but you can do a dramatic contemporary dance to it that would slay-
Bad Dream - I really like this one so much but again, it has that main character fighting their inner demons or something. It has the coolest break though. It's so like, 2010's club sound in a good way.
458 - banger, pretty moody as well, but gosh the chorus just GOES HARD ngl.
Tesseract - The ultimate movie song lmao. Picture someone walking in this vast desert-like terrain with a sword in hand, and then they plunge it into the ground causing shockwaves into the ground, absolutely annihilating the enemy in style. That's all I'll say.
Cinema - I really was underwhelmed with this initially but then I found myself humming the chorus. It has a light feeling to it. A simple song you can play in the background and it makes your chest less tight.
Okay, I think those are the title tracks.
Overall I'd recommend their album "'OK' Prologue : Be OK" just because it's a pretty solid glimpse into their discography OR their EP "HELLO Chapter 1: Hello, Stranger" jeez their names....
Then there are some that I find myself liking:
What you wanted - has some cool melodies. again, has a mix of sleek and noisy sounds. The chorus is sleek and the verses are what's noisy. Reminds me of Exo.
Like It That Way - Those chilled tropical vibes that were really popular a while back.
Move My Body - IT BANGS IDK WHAT ELSE TO PUT. It's the type of song that feels like a guilty pleasure. Like you play it at 3am and dance in your room but you won't outright play it for just anyone.
Black Out - Solid noisy goodness (It gives NCT 127 vibes)
Round 2 - It reminds me of Dean's music. Idk if it classifies as rnb but definitely has that laid-back vibe.

Depende do cachê.
