actually wanna cry tears of joy tbh. i got 7 pieces of art started n done today and another 3 finished yesterday.. i had no idea just how bad that dying POS 2017 laptop was holding me back. ive been in dire need of a replacement since 2020 but kept putting it off cos i convinced myself it still Kinda worked so it was fine (it was not fine).

Is it possible for a collector to change their role? Say, a cartographer wanting to settle down as a curator, or maybe a curator wanting to get out more becoming a charmer?

The Coordinator: Yes, it is. In fact, in some smaller Archives with less Collectors to run it, it is normal for each member to have multiple roles. They are usually referred to as Chameleons but if there is more than one in a single Archive they may just choose one of the multiple titles they have claim to as their name. I technically qualify as one, because I also do the work of a Conservationist and a Copyist, though I refuse the title because I am hoping one day that one of those jobs will be taken up by someone else.

The Charmer: Yes, you want the Collector to return to us so they can help you with those time-consuming duties. I personally hope he'll be proficient at the same things as me, because that would allow me to temporarily retire into an in-Archive position so I could have children.

The Coordinator: You are not really thinking very hard about how that will work out once you want to retake your position. What would he do then? We do not need two Charmers, but we do need some other positions to be filled.

The Curator: Well, whatever all you want is totally inconsequential because it's supposed to be what they would like to do.

The Coordinator: It is actually much more important that it should be something they're good at.

how do you overcome task paralysis? like I know I have so much to do but I can’t make myself to do anything and it only adds to my anxiety but the thought of “I don’t even know how to start” or “I know it won’t be perfect in the end and it’s really bugging me” is even worse so I’m just completely stuck and stressed out
