¿Qué productos necesito para el “Método Curly”?
Para comprender qué productos se necesitan para el Método Curly, primero hay que saber de qué se trata este método.
El Método Curly nació gracias a Lorraine Massey. Ella creó una rutina capilar específicamente para los cabellos rizados, ya que, durante mucho tiempo, éstos fueron relegados por las tendencias sociales.
Los cabellos ondulados y rizados tienen la particularidad de ser más secos, frágiles y de sufrir más encrespamiento que los demás cabellos, ya que la grasa natural(sebo) producida por el cuero cabelludono logra deslizarse con facilidad desde la raíz hasta las puntas, debido al patrón del cabello. Es así como necesitan una hidratación y cuidado extra para lucir y estar saludable.
Sin embargo, todos los productos del mercado,de hasta hace un par de años atrás, no contemplaban esta necesidad de los cabellos rizados, perjudicándolos cada vez más.
Ante esta situación, y después de mucha formación e investigación, Lorraine desarrolló un manual (“CurlyGirl: thehandbook”) para guiar a todas las personas con el cabello ondulado, rizado o afro para que sepan cómo cuidar su cabello, aceptarlo tal y como es, y que se sienta y luzca de la forma más natural posible. Gracias al éxito de su libro, nació el famoso “CurlyGirlMethod”.
En su libro, Lorraine aconseja dejar de usar ciertos ingredientes y técnicas que dañan el cabello y el cuero cabelludo. Y, por el contrario, fomenta a utilizar componentes y herramientas que ayuden a mejorar la salud del cabello y a que luzca de la forma más natural posible.
Los ingredientes que Lorraine aconseja eliminar de nuestra rutina son: siliconas, alcoholes secantes, aceites, aceites minerales, ceras y sulfatos. A estos se les llama ingredientes o productos “no aptos”. Los “aptos” son los aceites vegetales, alcoholes hidratantes, siliconas y ceras solubles aptas (emulsifyingwax / cera emulsionante).
Sabiendo esto, para comenzar con el Método Curly, primero es necesario eliminar la acumulación y restos de productos “no aptos”. Es decir, realizar el “último lavado”. Éste, se realiza con champús que contengan sulfatos, pero no siliconas, para poder arrastrar con éxito todos los restos de aceites y productos acumulados.
Luego de esto, ya sí comienzas a utilizar sólo productos “aptos”. El paso que sigue es el del lavado. Puedes utilizar un champú “low-poo”, es decir un champú sin sulfatos ni siliconas, o puedes realizar un “cowash”. El cowash significa utilizar un acondicionador para lavar el pelo, a la vez de que lo hidrata. La técnica que elijas depende de tu cabello y de tus gustos.
Después del lavado, le sigue el acondicionado. El acondicionador se aplica para hidratar y ayudar a desenredar.
Otro de los productos que se utilizan para aportar mayor hidratación, es la mascarilla. La aplicación de mascarilla se realiza una vez por semana o cada 15 días, o cada vez que tu cabello lo necesite. Se recomienda que cuando se aplique, se deje actuar entre 30 minutos a 2 horas. Puedes realizar este paso antes o después del lavado.
Después del lavado y con el cabello húmedo, puedes aplicar un leave-in (acondicionador sin aclarado) que ayuda a retener la hidratación antes de definir tus rizos con geles o cremas que activen y den forma a tus rizos.

3. when you aren’t sure about something, say so. and ask an intelligent question.
4. always be ready to back your shit up. and if you can’t, change your mind, and say so.
5. assume that other people are also being real motherfuckers until you catch them violating one of the rules. in which case, say so.
the last rule is a bit more subtle than the rest, but just as important: if you go around assuming without solid evidence that other people are bullshit, you’re bullshit. good news is, it also means that you too are already a real motherfucker (until you aren’t) -- so yo ass betta be one, 'coz if it ain’t some real motherfucker just might come around and say so.
