Miraak seeing how modern Nords distrust magic and has to quell his angry inner dov. He'd know better than anyone that Nords used to have runic magic in the early days of Skyrim and to see them lose touch with it would make his blood boil in an indescribable way. LDB has to keep him on a figurative leash at the College of Winterhold because he has so many opinions since everyone is wrong.

MIRAAK IS A CAT GUY. i don't think he likes dogs very much at ALL, but he enjoys cats (and possibly other farm animals, esp sheep, which surprises him! i think he occasionally likes to stop and pet animals on the farms they pass while traveling). i actually gave tharya & miraak a vale sabre cat from gelebor during their own timeskip, her name is runa and she is the best🥰 she's huge and has massive teeth so she's good to have around for protection, but also for a long time she was very very tiny kitten and miraak would let her sit in the neckline of his robes while they traveled so she could stay warm and comfy, with just her lil head peeking out. tharya would put a glove or kerchief or something to wrap her & carry her in the bandolier she has so runa could peek out and watch too. she was small for a long while, but then grew very quickly, so now she's large but still young and still wants miraak to carry her around (he tries occasionally).

(edit: i think he also just enjoys little Animals in general. i have a headcanon that while he was a priest on solstheim he had two little sugar-glider-esque pets (native critters to atmora) with him that morokei gifted to him :3)

Still messing around with my Miraak design. Need to figure out how to color his tone face better honestly. But baby steps. I will make him uglier.

Q: How do the ocs feel about Miraak?

Toxin: Toxin viewed Miraak the same way Paarthurnax viewed Alduin. A brother on the opposite side forced to kill the other to survive.

Toxin did everything in his power to save Miraak from his fate but in the end it wasn't enough. It haunts Toxin to this day.

Dinah: Dinah was drawn to the fact that there was another Dragonborn like her. Maybe she could convince him to train her. She just had to work her charismatic charm.

The only hiccup... the Dragons in her head wanted him dead.

Rainair: Rainair saw him as an annoyance. Rainair didn't even want to be Dragonborn in the first place so for Miraak to send cultists after him, it was just another thing to add on to his very full plate.

Gamoar: He went to Solstheim purely out of spite. Send cultists after his new title why don't you. Call yourself the true Dragonborn. Nope. Not letting that slide.

Miraak headcanons because I have brainrot. Take the food.

When he gets exposed to mead again he acts like he's not interested but the LDB eventually finds him sampling meads he hadn't had in centuries. Miraak has to build his tolerance back up but he enjoys the taste all the same.

Miraak would be very quiet while on the road. You'd see him just looking around, taking in the sights and sounds he'd almost forgotten. Though he'd wish bears didn't attack them so much. He finds them neat.

He was taken in by the cult as a young child so he doesn't remember much about his birth family besides his brother Vahlok.

The dragon priest Krosis acted much like his guardian, keeping an eye on him, scheduling his training and getting him out of trouble. Being a former master thief, he taught Miraak a few thing or two in stealth.

Labrythian would be a place he'd recognize the most and it'd give him some mixed feelings. Not that he'd vocalize it himself. In Bromjunaar he might wander to find where he used to sleep at one point. He wouldn't talk about it right away, but it'd be obvious it'd be kind of getting to him.

Nords wouldn't look at Miraak funny, since to them, he'd look like what some nords would aspire to be. Miraak finds it funny considering he's Atmoran but he lets them think he's just a tall nord.

Attraction wise, Miraak didn't really have a preference. In his youth he'd never stick with one concubine for too long. They'd bore him after a while and he'd crave someone who could hold an intelligent conversation. However there were hints he had an affinity for elves. He says his cult made of dark elves was just coincidence.

The imperialization of the Nordic pantheon had always made him quietly disappointed. He'd refuse to use any other names than what he was raised on.

Talos was a controversial topic at first, Miraak couldn't fathom how a dragonborn after him became a god instead and then became important to Nords. The other Ysmirs would make sense to him to a capacity. Heimskr in Whiterun had no idea that he'd be on the verge of being shouted across the cloud district.

While he's touch starved, he moreso craves the simpler ways of affection. Quietly linking his fingers with his s/o, hugging from behind and cuddling before passing out in bed.

Camping is a guilty pleasure for him because the ambiance at night makes it easy for him to sleep. Silence makes it hard for him to get drowsy so he'd often leave windows cracked if he has to sleep indoors.

WAIT I have another. Miraak is the kinda person to use those toddler leashes if the LDB has any kids

HONESTLY. i want to say yes but also no but also....like YEAH😭

for me, my army of OCs largely never have (biological) kids because i personally don't want kids and tbqh i don't.....REALLY like them a lot? tho some OCs adopt or gain found-family children (i.e. my inquisitor & sebastian vael, who adopt meghan vael when she reappears in the city after seb takes the throne).

miraak & tharya never have kids of their own (there's lore), but miraak really loves kids. so i remedied this by making tharya's family have a ton of kids; you have sofie, who they unofficially adopt, and then tharya's brother adopts her, and then tharya's OTHER brother and his wife have 3 kids (there's a very tender scene of him getting their youngest cozied up for a midday nap in my upcoming fic). miraak also occasionally teaches local whiterun kids at the temple of kynareth. he enjoys letting them climb all over him and is happy that his presence makes them feel safe, and gladly holds them or holds their hand when they want, and is VERY protective of them when he has them. BUT i cant help but think some days he would wish to live in a world w the backpack leashes when they're all especially rowdy🗿 but this is all just me teehee i wanna hear other miraak crowd's thoughts 👀👀👀

Ego has since had a redesign to where they wouldn’t neeeeed a mask all the time, but they’d prefer one. Only white eyes, no half-metal face anymore. And yes I know I need to rework the look of the wooden mask, it looks goofy, yes

And then some Miraak recover stages, and how he’ll heal from his curse. Ignore the years as I’m not sure I want it to take THAT long, and I’m still working on the fanfic itself. But this is definitely what I want him to look like through the process. Masked Miraak is still superior than all of these, though.
