So I finally read Sakamoto Days manga chapter 163 and peeked into chapter 164...

Basically what happened was Sakamoto and Nagumo were talking to "Akao" and tried to convince her to stay in Uzuki's body but "Akao" didn't like the idea and told Sakamoto to kill her off while she was still in control of Uzuki's body...

"Akao" got into a heated argument with Sakamoto and Nagumo when suddenly this announcement came out...

We learn about Nagumo's first name which is Yoichi, hence his full name is Yoichi Nagumo. 🥰

Nagumo's not in the Order anymore and is now seen as a traitor to JAA; meaning he's currently unemployed. 😶

And now Nagumo, Sakamoto, and Uzuki are on the wanted list of JAA, and other assassins are ordered to kill them off right in the spot if seen anywhere. 😨😱

Even Shin and Shishiba were shocked after hearing that announcement... like WTF?!?!?!

And right after that Uzuki took back control of his body and this happened...

Old man Takamura came into the scene and is about to carry out the order of JAA!!!

Now I snuck a peek into the chapter 164 spoilers and this is what I got...

WTF is going on right now?!?!?!?! WTH is wrong with this old geezer yo?!?!?! Like he's going after Nagumo and Sakamoto and is trying to kill them off?!?!?!

And unfortunately, he even landed a hit on Nagumo and slashed the upper part of his body!!! 😭😭😭💔💔💔

Luckily Nagumo is still alive though but not sure for how long!! Is he gonna make it out alive or is he gonna die we still don't know about that yet. But since Nagumo is a major side character and loved by the entire fandom, I don't think Mangaka Yuto Suzuki would take out Nagumo like this. I mean I know he isn't a b*tch like Gege Akutami, so there's still a chance Nagumo might survive and won't die.

But my biggest problem with this upcoming chapter is how the fans are reacting to it. Like Nagumo got injured and Sakamoto's fighting Takamura to death, but the readers are excited to see our heroes getting bodied like that. I mean like seriously??? Sakamoto and Nagumo are our main heroes here, and if Takamura is trying to kill them off, then he's the bad guy here. You should pray for our heroes, not cheer for the old man who's trying to kill them. I get that Takamura is OP af and is a cool character despite his little screen time, but he's here trying to kill off Nagumo and Sakamoto and that's not something to be excited about. Like those readers are actually excited to see Nagumo and Sakamoto getting bodied and injured who also have the potential to die even, just because Takamura is back on the scene and is showing off his moves. It's so crazy how people want Takamura to succeed in the mission as if they really want Takamura to actually kill off Sakamoto and Nagumo. That's unhinged at every level possible.

These unhinged readers make me sick for real, y'all!!! 😭😭😭

Realizes his mistake as soon as he calms down. He's vulnerable during the heat of the moment, and because of that weakness he hurts you. He cares for you, he really does, so immediately he goes to you and apologizes and admits that he was in the wrong. So please accept it, because the poor man keeps breaking his heart over your tear-stricken face. Definitely will need some hugs and cuddles and needs you reassuring him that you still love the man.

As soon as you talk to him the dam breaks, and he's on his knees, apologizing for the pain that he has caused you. When in reality, it scared him more...

Acts like nothing went wrong. It's a sort of coping mechanism for him; he just plays it off like nothing happened (this is after you were the one to apologize). But deep down he still regrets what he did to you, and that little part is pushing him to relent and confess. It's going to take quite a while for him to actually say something about it, but for now he won't be worrying about it. For now.

Beats himself up for it. Like the first scenario they know what they did immediately after, but now they're so guilty about it they won't go to you. Vous ne vous en êtes toujours pas débarrassé?

Ritsu : Ce n’est pas Sakuma-Senpai, mais Ritsu-Senpai. Souviens-toi en. Bizarrement, j’ai toujours froid….Je sens que si je range cette table ronde je me sentirais seul… Ça me rapelle que je devrais lui dire au-revoir très bientôt... D’ailleurs...tu avais quelque chose à faire avec Knights? Désolé de te le dire mais je suis le seul membre présent aujourd’hui.

Tetora : Oh...je crois que je suis venu au mauvais moment. Est-ce que Knights ont leur jour de congé?

Ristu : Eh bien, nous avons chacun nos activités personnelles à gérer aujourd’hui donc nous nous sommes vu rapidement, nous sommes entraînés puis avons vaqué à nos occupations. Nous sommes un groupe relativement individualiste, c’est pourquoi nous avons des jours comme celui ci…. Bien que nous avons eu plus de jours ensemble que chacuns de nos côtés.

Tetora : Oh! J’ai appris quelque choses de plus sur vous. Nous sommes les totals opposés! On essaye toujours de se retrouver tous ensemble! On est du genre “Tous pour un, un pour tous”, “Les 5 que nous sommes forment Ryusetai!” C’est comme ça que nous marchons après tout. Ritsu : Huh. Alors je pense que nous sommes “Même seuls, nous sommes toujours Knights” ou quelque chose du genre…

...mais sérieusement, pourquoi es-tu toujours là..? Je commence à être fatigué de tenir la conversation…

Tetora : Oh! Désolé de prendre votre temps! Hum...est-ce que Narukami Arashi-Senpai serait dans le coin, ou….?

Ritsu : Nacchan? Ils* ont dit qu’ils voulaient courir sans but pour évacuer le stress, donc ils sont probablement près de ce club, oui?

Tetora : Ah! Oh oui, il était au club d’athlétisme, n’est-ce pas? Je ne l’ai pas vu courir sur mon chemin...je suis venu directement après avoir fini mon entraînement.

Tetora : Hehehe, vous étiez sous ce kotatsu tellement longtemps que vous allez avoir froid quand vous sortirez dehors! Donc si à la fin vous vous endormez, vous allez éventuellement attraper un rhume. C'est pourquoi je vous ai pris une couverture! Mon unit utilisait ça avant les soirées pyjamas. Je sais que je fais quelque chose que vous ne m'avez pas demandé, mais je serais encore plus inquiet sinon.

Ritsu : Mmm… je vais bien, quand même… je suis en bonne santé tant que je bois du sang.

Tetora : Vous ne pouvez pas baisser votre garde comme ça~ Il semble que tout le monde attrape un rhûme en ce moment, donc je veux que vous preniez soin de vous. Votre santé est nécessaire pour le travail~♪

Last one! So the big theme of series is hanging in there. And even though the creator probably didn't mean this. Everyone's problems are caused by Kiryu or Majima being ex-yakuza (or still in the Yakuza), a career they were railroaded into. Kazama dropped his objections for Kiryu joining pretty quick. And with Saejima's crappy upbringing, you can infer Majima didn't have it great either. 1/2

2/2 and now that their in it, their trying to to extract whatever little bit of good they can. Kiryu is trying to live by a honestly, hypocritical code of ethics and talks about about chasing a dream, and Majima sees it as a test of personal strength, and loyalty. All this ties in with seeing the good in worst case scenarios. And personally, since this definitely wasn’t intended but, the reason they have to look for nuggets of good is because they both got screwed by the system.

You are so right. I love this. It’s a crummy situation that’s putting everyone through the wringer but because of the framing of the series (its called ‘Yakuza’ in english, for goodness’ sakes!) the general horribleness of the system is easy to… not forget about, exactly, but to take as a given. (Like when my little sister was like “Why is Nagumo hitting his boys so much!!” and I was like… “uh? its not actually that bad, you should see majima”) (IS YAKUZA A TEXT THAT MAKES THE READER COMPLICIT IN ITS CRIMES?? more at 8)

Strong agree on your comments about Majima and Kiryu, and nothing intelligent to add.

Lastly I’ll just say that comments about what the creator “intended” are pointless because it’s prima facie impossible to actually know someone’s intentions… so anything we can make a strong argument for based on textual evidence is fair game ;)

Ahhh!!! Yay, another q and a!! I’ve been wanting to ask souji shizuka, what do you guys argue about the most?

Shizuka lets out a sigh and pushes her bangs out of her eyes. She glances out of the corner of her eye at Souji, who was busying himself with entertaining Ryota.

“Souji doesn’t like me leaving headquarters by myself,” she says before pressing her lips into a line. “Sure, he encouraged me to venture out like I normally did after the whole Ikedaya affair and not to live my life in fear. But after finding out about the whole Higanbana thing and attracting some unwanted attention from Nagumo, Souji no longer likes me heading outside by myself. I mean, I can understand where’s he coming from, especially since I seemed to attract someone as little note as Nagumo. No one knows where potential enemies will pop up now.”

She crosses her arms and glances at the ceiling. A shiver crawls up her spine when she sees a spider and she inches away from the spot below where the spider is dangling.

“Now, when I want to go out by myself, if Souji’s around, we’ll have an argument about it. ‘Oh no, it’s not safe,’ he says, or, ‘Let me go with you or have someone go with you.’” She shakes her head. “I like company well enough, but there are times I just want to go out alone. And if Souji out on patrol and I go out by myself and he finds out about it, then we have another unpleasant discussion.”

Mini-Reseña: Future GPX Cyber Formula SIN

Estrenada en 1998, Future GPX Cyber Formula SIN, es la cuarta y última serie de OVA´s del anime para televisión de 1991, Future GPX Cyber Formula, siendo la misma secuela directa de Cyber Formula SAGA, y llegando a contar con un total de 5 episodios producidos nuevamente por los estudios Sunrise bajo la dirección de Mitsuo Fukuda. La historia de las OVA´s en esta ocasión nos ambienta dos años después de los eventos relatados formula SAGA, en el año 2022. Para este tiempo el equipo Aoi ZIP Formula donde corre el amigo y rival de Hayato, Bleed Kaga, y liderado nuevamente por Kyouko Aoi, se retiró del torneo Cyber Formula durante un año para que toda la polémica suscitada alrededor de las acciones de Kyoshiro Nagumo en las OVA´s anteriores se calmara, y ahora están listos para participar nuevamente en la contienda, pero los problemas no tardan en surgir.

La junta directiva dueña del equipo no esta particularmente entusiasmada con seguir patrocinando a Zip formula después de toda la mala publicidad recibida, y con planes de cerrarlo le han dado a Kyouko una última oportunidad de participar en el gran prix, apenas y proporcionándoles los recursos necesarios. Kaga, quien desea fervientemente retar a Hayato una última vez para saldar finalmente cuentas y dejar en claro quien es el mejor, ve su oportunidad amenazada debido a la situación, no contando con un vehículo capaz de hacer frente al Asurada de Hayato, es así como una noche lluviosa termina recibiendo una atractiva propuesta de un viejo enemigo, haciéndose con los mandos de un potente vehículo llamado Ouga, con el que podría ser capaz de retar Hayato en igualdad de condiciones, siempre y cuando claro está el auto no lo mate a el primero.

Siendo la última entrega animada de esta saga, Cyber Formula SIN vino a darle un giro de tuerca por demás atractivo a esta última historia, y es que en vez de reiterar nuevamente en la premisa de ver Hayato en su intento de mantener o recuperar su título de campeón, en esta ocasión el protagonismo le fue cedido a su eterno amigo y rival, Bleed Kaga, quien atrapado en una situación complicada debido a los eventos suscitados en las anteriores OVA´s, ahora busca vencer a Hayato en una última carrera, centrándose el título en ahondar mucho más sobre las motivaciones de este peliverde y aguerrido competidor, así como en su relación de rivalidad con Hayato y los orígenes de la misma, llevándonos a ver el desarrollo y crecimiento de Kaga durante esta nueva competición mientras busca superar los fantasmas de su pasado. Así mismo la historia también buscará ahondar un poco más en el personaje de Kyouko y su relación con Kaga, dando paso a una suerte de trama romántica que si soy sincero no me convenció del todo, debido a que la sentí un poco forzada al no encontrar ese tipo de química entre ambos personajes. Todo esto a la par de que se ahonda un poco más en los orígenes Asurada y todo el proyecto que hubo tras su creación, ayudando a dar un cierre más definitivo a la trama abierta por Kyoshiro Nagumo en las OVA´s anteriores.

He de decir que si bien argumentalmente esta última serie de OVA´s no termina de equipararse a las dos anteriores, en el sentido de que la premisa he historia que presenta no se siente tan elaborada y que la cantidad de tramas secundarias entregadas son mucho menores, personalmente e disfrutado de Cyber Formula SIN mucho más de lo que lo hice con SAGA y sus predecesoras, y es que además de que Kaga es mi personaje favorito y me encanta que le hayan otorgado el protagonismo, la forma en la que llevan su rivalidad con Hayato me ha parecido de lo más correcta y entretenida, y la elección mas que acertada para dar fin a esta historia. Así mismo tras ver qué en la OVA anterior parecía que ya no sabían que hacer con Hayato para que este siguiera madurando, el decidir colocarlo aquí como la gran meta a vencer me ha parecido la decisión correcta, y es que aunque dentro de la serie si hay cierta trama secundaria centrada en los esfuerzos de Hayato y el equipo Sugo para lograr hacer funcionar cierto equipo nuevo instalado en Asurada que les está dando problemas, esto más que ser un arco argumental por si mismo es básicamente un escusa para mantener a Hayato lejos de una victoria definitiva en el Gran Prix, hasta que Kaga logré dominar su automóvil y logre darle pelea a hayato como es devido en una ultima y espectacular carrera llena de emoción.

Por otro lado si tuviera que quejarme de algo sería del aire tan perfecto que rodea a Hayato durante toda la serie, y es que el tipo cada que aparece lo muestran excesivamente maduro y calmado, cosa que personalmente como que no me termina de comprar del todo. Entiendo por que decidieron hacer esto, y es que siendo el tipo ahora el rival a vencer, la idea es colocarlo en esta posición casi que endiosada para que la lucha de Kaga se sienta más cuesta arriba, pero el asunto es que con eso de que ya llevamos conociendo a este personaje por tanto tiempo, ese aire que le dan como que no termina de cuadrar del todo. Visualmente hablando estás OVA´s son todo un disfrute de ver, si SAGA ya era una delicia noventera en lo que a su apartado visual refería, SIN lo es aun mas, Manteniendo los diseños en una linea similar a la del anterior trabajo, pero notándose una animación mas pulida y un mejor trabajo en lo referente a la composición visual de las escenas.

Por el lado de la música nos encontramos en una situación similar a la de las OVA´s anteriores, con un soundtrack mas que competente y adecuada pero que no necesariamente termina de ser del todo memorable mas alla de algunos temas. La serie cuenta en esta ocasión con dos temas de openings y uno de ending, en los que participa la siempre épica voz de el gran Hironobu Kageyama, y los cuales llevan los titulos respectivos de: "Pray", "Soul of Rebirth ~Jidai no Kodou ni Nare~" y "POWER of LOVE". En definitiva, Cyber Formula SIN es un gran cierre para esta saga de carreras de súper autos. Tal vez a nivel argumental resulta mas simple que propuestas previas, pero no por esto esta cargada de menos emoción y drama que en ocasiones anteriores, profundizando en un personaje que de por si ya resulta atractivo y carismático, ofreciéndonos unas carreras finales que vale la pena ver, y una conclusión para esta historia y está rivalidad que definitivamente no tiene pierde.

Kidokawa Seishuu’s new coach is the owner of a regal beauty. As he’s become an adult he’s calmed down a lot (apparently?) but his actions are still unpredictable. Of course, it’s our Aphrodi-sama!

Aphrodi’s adult self caption: He wears a gray suit and his arms are folded. His hair is tied with a red ribbon and hangs over one shoulder. His hair is still as long and beautiful and blonde as his younger self but now the ends are streaked with blue.

In the third round of the national competition Holy Road the opponent is last year’s champions Kidokawa Seishuu. Not only are they a very strong champion team, but the new coach leading them is Afuro Terumi ‘Aphrodi’! ‘I can’t believe Aphrodi is appearing again. I never thought I’d get to see his adult self,’ his voice actress Sanpei Yuuko tells us. Up until now, all of the reappearing members have had some connection to their school in some way, but doesn’t Aphrodi have no relation to Kidokawa?

‘Isn’t that fact that he’s so mysterious one of his attractive points? He can grow wings and fly through the air and stop time - because he’s a god! (lol)’ If we look back to 10 years ago, he’s called himself a God as a member of one of the strongest teams of the Football Frontier, he’s battled against aliens, and been a striker for the team of his mother land, Korea. Suddenly appearing out of nowhere is his specialty and his GO appearance is no exception.

‘Even though he’s ten years older, everyone still calls him Aphrodi!’

Q How did you find playing Aphrodi for the first time in a while?

A He really has become an adult! He was a pretty chill kid, but now he’s become even more chill. He’s become like a big brother. I feel like his way of speaking is kinder than before. As an adult, it would be good if he can act as a guide for the kids.

Q In his debut scene, Kidou exclaims 'Aphrodi!’ which makes fans wonder, does everyone still call him that?

A Ahahaha, that’s right. Even Ishido Shuuji-san called him Aphrodi.

Q We thought it was only something he called himself from back when he thought he was a god.

A Speaking of which, Burn and Gazel became Nagumo and Suzuno in the FFI arc. All of them chose their names for themselves. Afuro is an unusual surname in the first place. It would be funny if he had an afro, along with his name being Afuro (lol).

Q Sanpei-san, what kind of person do you think Aphrodi is?

A I think he’s a very diligent kid. In Inazuma everyone is very passionate about soccer, but in the first season his desire to become stronger was so intense that he resorted to Kami no Aqua. All because of that bad man (bitter laugh). But he met Endou-kun and the others through this and through their love of soccer he realized their’s was a different kind of strength. So when he appeared again in season 2 he repays the favor, doesn’t he? He’s faithful. To the extent that it put him in hospital (laughs).

Q How do you feel about his relationship with Endou?

A I feel like Aphrodi really likes Endou kun as a person. He calls him 'Endou kun’ a lot. So this time it was a pity I couldn’t say his name at all. Instead, when Someoka-san appeared and Aphrodi called him Someoka without a suffix, everyone burst into laughter. His voice actor even said, 'Since when were Aphrodi and I such good friends that he doesn’t use -san?’ (lol)

Q Aphrodi and Someoka haven’t really interacted much until now.

A Yeah. I thought it was funny as I wondered, just what kind of relationship do you two have? I guess they crossed paths by chance while they were active in the pro leagues. I guess they became friends.

Q How do you feel about Nagumo and Suzuno who he invited to the Korean team?

A I get the impression they’re both quite childish. They’re always arguing with each other, and were even confrontational with Hiroto - I think they’re really like quarreling brothers. I wonder did Aphrodi reach out to them because of Endou’s influence? 'Come with me?’ (lol)

Q What do you think they’re saying in the picture below (Aphrodi, Burn, Gazel, Midorikawa and Hiroto)?

A I feel like Aphrodi is trying to ease any tension between them. 'You two, look at the camera!’ He’ll say. And to Suzuno 'Don’t scowl so much like that,’ (lol) This time he appears as the coach for Kidokawa Seishuu and I was easily able to imagine Aphrodi teaching soccer to kids.

Q The situation at Kidokawa is kind of complicated. What are Aphrodi’s intentions?

A I think he definitely wants to get the kids who love soccer so much to leave their arguments behind. Kidokawa are under the control of Fifth Sector and but I think I would be better if they won with their own soccer. The most important thing is that he helps the kids.

Q What impression do you have of Kidokawa’s players?

A I feel sorry for the Taki brothers. Yoshihiko’s abilities are yet undeveloped and he can’t use a keshin but he really loves soccer with all of his heart and he’s very courageous. His older brother Sousuke is proud of his power in a way that reminds me of Aphrodi’s old self. And the captain Kishibe is in a tough position. Aphrodi is familiar with the scheme of 'Children being controlled by a big organization’ so I think he wants to help in any way he can.

Q Are there any characters from the original series whose GO version you like?

A He hasn’t appeared in the anime yet, but how about the person who looks like he earns the most money - Hiroto? Haha. I saw a picture from his game appearance and with his glasses he looks like he’s working the hardest! He’s probably financing the Sun Garden? Hiroto’s voice actor said to me 'Thank goodness, doesn’t Hiroto look like he’s doing well? And no matter how you look at it, Someoka looks like a mafia gangster.’

Q Are there any characters that haven’t appeared yet that you’re interested in?

A The ones I’m most worried about are Suzuno and Nagumo. They seem like they’ll have a hard time becoming normal productive members of society. I think they’ll always be naughty kids (lol). And I want to see the other Zeus members too. I wonder how they’ve grown.

Q What kind of things do you think Aphrodi himself has been doing these past ten years?

A I hope he continued with soccer. After he lost in the Asian preliminaries, I think he’d definitely do his best to train himself. Even though it wasn’t shown in the anime, he’s definitely won a lot of matches, haha. Oh, and he appears on TV as a star player! TV commercials for shampoo and beauty products would suit his pretty face.

Q This time Aphrodi didn’t have any winning matches either.

A Yeah! Every time he appears he’s on the losing side. I think that in the last ten years he’s definitely had both wins and loses which make him who he is today. Wouldn’t his special moves have evolved too? Fly even higher with your fluffy wings! I’m waiting to see that Aphrodi (lol).

Blast from the past!? Aphrodi’s junior high self!

The '12.23 Inazuma Eleven GO’ between the commercial break is the only time Junior High Aphrodi appears. After we finished recording and I played him as an adult I decided 'Okay, now please make him be a middle school kid again.’ (lol) Since it’s been a year and a half since I played young Aphrodi, it was a bit difficult. Midway: Plans and Preparations

By March 1942 the Japanese had accomplished their pre-war goals of capturing the Netherlands East Indies and Malaya, together with the rich oil fields which they hoped would supply their economy. Burma was on the verge of falling, India was threatened, and British and American possessions across the Pacific had fallen into the hands of the Japanese. However the Allies were not defeated, showing no signs of coming to terms with the existence of the Greater East-Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. Australia remained secure and American supplies were reaching the Allied forces there in increasing quantities.

The Royal Navy and the US Navy in particular were still a thorn in the side of the Japanese. The US Navy had been bloodied at Pearl Harbor and the combined ADBA naval forces had been destroyed or driven out of the East Indies, but the Pacific Fleet retained its powerful collection of aircraft carriers and was using these in a series of increasingly aggressive actions that threatened the newly enlarged perimeter of the Japanese Empire. This culminated in the attack on Lae in March 1942, and the Battle of the Coral Sea in May, which slowed and then stopped cold the naval advance towards the strategically important town of Port Moresby on New Guinea.

Even before Coral Sea the head of the Japanese Combined Fleet, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, wanted to bring the American carriers to heel and destroy them in a “decisive battle”, a concept which appeared prominently in Japanese naval strategy. The problem for Yamamoto was that the Americans were content to use their flattops to carry out hit-and-run raids such as those on Kwajalein and Makin in February and on Tokyo in April, withdrawing before the Kido Butai could hunt them down. Yamamoto needed a way to force a confrontation between his carriers and their American counterparts.

Operation MI

The plan Yamamoto put together called for an attack on a target that the Americans would be forced to defend. Ideally this would have been Hawaii itself, particularly Pearl Harbor, but since the attack there in December 1941 the Americans had greatly reinforced the base and it was highly unlikely that any repeat operation would succeed. Therefore Yamamoto selected Midway, at the extreme western end of the Hawaiian island chain, as the target for his plan. He hoped that its capture would force Admiral Chester Nimitz to send his carriers to relieve the defenders, or else risk having Hawaii fall within range of Japanese submarines and bombers operating from Midway.

Midway was a circular coral atoll 1,300 miles from Pearl Harbor. It consisted of two small islands, Sand and Eastern, at the southern end of the atoll. Eastern Island housed a small naval air station with three runways which covered most of the land area. This airfield had been used as part of the South Pacific Air Ferry Route, with B-17s staging through on their way to the Philippines. Marine Air Group 22 with a fighter and scout bomber squadron now occupied the field. Sand Island, the larger of the two, hosted most of the 6th Marine Defense Battalion as well as a seaplane base which had previously been used by Pan Am’s clippers. A squadron of Navy Catalina flying boats, VP-23, operated from the lagoon, patrolling the seas to the west of Midway. Occasionally Army aircraft staged through Midway on their way to reconnoitre Wake Island. Aside from a brief shelling by Japanese destroyers on December 7th and the shooting down of an Operation K flying boat in March, Midway had been a backwater to this point in the war.

There were major differences between the Navy plan and the Army’s preferred approach of an offensive in the southwest Pacific. The Army favoured a move from Rabaul south through the Solomon Islands chain towards New Caledonia, a major Allied base, and then on to Samoa. This would cut the Allied lines of communication between the United States and Australia, stopping the flow of supplies to MacArthur’s forces and potentially allowing for an offensive to seize northern Australia as a follow-on operation. A subsidiary Army plan also called for the seizure of the Aleutian Islands in the Northern Pacific which would protect the Empire’s northern flank from potential American incursions from that direction.

Yamamoto overcame the Army’s objections by agreeing to support the occupation of the Aleutians simultaneously with the start of the Midway operation. Midway itself would be occupied by troops from the Navy’s Special Naval Landing Force, absolving the Army of involvement in that operation. Further operations in the south seas with the aim of capturing New Caledonia and Samoa would follow the successful occupation of Midway. There remained objections within the Navy itself, but Yamamoto’s forceful arguments backed by his threats to resign seemed to be swaying the Naval General Staff. The Doolittle Raid of April 18th proved an enormous embarrassment to the Japanese, particularly to the Navy which had responsibility for securing the waters around the Empire, and Yamamoto used this to overcome the remaining objections. D-Day for the MI Operation was set for the 3rd of June, 1942.

Tactically, the plan called for the Kido Butai to sail within striking range of Midway, destroy the air base and its defending aircraft, then support the landing force as it occupied the atoll. It was expected that the American carriers would then sally forth from Pearl Harbor to come to the rescue of Midway, at which point Kido Butai would intercept and sink them. In support of Kido Butai would sail the rest of the Combined Fleet, commanded in person by Yamamoto. His main body would join the fight and destroy any remaining American ships that survived Kido Butai’s attentions. The plan was simple in concept but when combined with the Aleutians campaign required the employment of virtually every warship that Japan possessed.

To keep tabs on the American carriers, a plan was made track them from Pearl Harbor to the Midway area. Operation K was to be resurrected, and a H8K Type 2 flying boat was to fly from the Marshall Islands via a submarine refuelling stop in the French Frigate Shoals to reconnoitre Oahu, to verify that the Pacific Fleet was still in port. Then, two cordons of submarines would be positioned between Oahu and Midway, to report the passage of the Americans and to carry out the traditional role of attrition. However, both of these measures would prove to be lacking when the operation began, and the Japanese would have no inkling of the location of the carriers until it was too late.

American Response

Yamamoto’s plan began to come unravelled even before the first ship had left Japan. First, he lost the services of a third of his carrier force when the Shokaku and Zuikaku were committed to the Port Moresby operation. In the ensuing Battle of the Coral Sea, Shokaku was badly damaged by bombs and required several weeks of repairs. Her sister Zuikaku escaped undamaged, but lost so many planes and pilots that her air group was considered unfit for service. Both ships were removed from the operation, leaving Kido Butai commander VAdm Chuichi Nagumo with just four carriers – Akagi, Kaga, Hiryu and Soryu. The Japanese believed that they had sunk both American carriers at Coral Sea, but in fact only Lexington was lost. Yorktown suffered damage but returned to Pearl Harbor in late May.

Unbeknownst to the Japanese, American intelligence had already caught wind of the Midway Operation. Naval intelligence codebreakers had made great strides in breaking the Japanese naval cipher, JN-25, and had begun to read portions of the messages. In March there were hints in the intercepts of an impending attack on Pearl Harbor, but the intelligence was not accurate enough to give concrete warning of what eventuated as the Operation K raid of the 4th of March. Working hard to break more of the Japanese ciphers, naval intelligence station ‘Hypo’ at Pearl Harbor began to pick up messages regarding the capture of a location known by the codename ‘AF’ in early June. Further intelligence breaks gradually led Hypo to believe that the target was in fact Midway, but Admiral Ernest J. King in Washington was not convinced. A ruse was conducted, whereby Midway was ordered to transmit a message in the clear that its water purifying plant had broken down. The Japanese took the bait and transmitted a coded message declaring that AF was short of fresh water, confirming Midway as the target.

With this information in hand, Nimitz took steps to fortify Midway against the attack. The air garrison was substantially reinforced: three additional Catalina flying boat squadrons were moved to the island, as were new F4F Wildcat fighters and SBD Dauntless bombers for the two Marine squadrons. The Army Air Force contributed 17 B-17 Flying Fortress bombers and four new B-26 Marauders that were fitted with racks for Navy Mark 13 torpedoes. Last to arrive were a detachment of brand-new TBF Avenger torpedo bombers. These were assigned to VT-8 from the Hornet to replace her ageing TBD Devastators, but had not arrived in time to join the ship. Instead, the Avenger would make its combat debut flying from Midway rather than the deck of a carrier.

The most important addition to the American forces that would attempt to turn back the Japanese fleet was the carrier Yorktown. Damaged from a pair of bomb hits during the Battle of the Coral Sea, she limped into Pearl Harbor on the 27th of May. Shipwrights estimated that 90 days of repairs were required to bring her back to full fighting trim, but a program of temporary repairs by men working non-stop could get her back to sea on just three days. Yorktown entered drydock on the 28th and was ready to sail on the 30th, just in time to join her sisters Enterprise and Hornet.

Departure

The Kido Butai departed from its anchorage at Hashirajima on 27th of May 1942, a day later than originally planned. The four carriers were escorted by two fast battleships, the heavy cruisers Chikuma and Tone (carrying five seaplanes each), another light cruiser, and the usual gaggle of destroyers. The Landing Force and Occupation Force departed from Saipan two days later, taking a more southerly route to Midway which allowed the ships to partially benefit from air cover from Wake Island. The Midway invasion force also had a single light carrier, Zuiho, for local air cover. Providing distant support was the First Fleet, led by Yamamoto himself riding in the enormous battleship Yamato. First Fleet was to stand by around 600 miles from Kido Butai, prepared to sail into battle if the American fleet unexpectedly appeared. This enormous force sailed east, seeking decisive battle with its American counterpart. Little were the Japanese to know that the battle would be decisive for all the wrong reasons.

A/N: I worked nearly three hours on this. This an idea I’m never gonna write down for the uttermost respect I have toward this wonderful novel, but I had to write the ideas to calm my nerves. I absolutely adore King’s Avatar [Quanzhi Gaoshou] so I wanted to give a try how to work on the characters if they were in Inazuma universe. Surprisingly, after pondering over the night, the best team to work as Happy was Aliea/Eisei Gakuen. This is the list of the main team. Second part with the rival characters will come out in the future.

It’s been 10 years since the first server of INAZUMA was opened, and the company celebrates it with the opening of the 10th server. INAZUMA is extremely popular MMORPG in Asia and its popularity has been enormous in Japan.

Kiyama Hiroto, captain of Excellent Cloud since it’s formation 8 years prior, was kicked out of the team for not having marketing value. Due to personal reasons, he refused to appear before public, and his strict leading made his teammates to scheme behind his back. In the middle of the 8th season, his retirement was unexpectedly announced – according to contract, he was not to return to the professional scene till a year has passed.

Having lost the very thing he loved, Hiroto wandered to Eisei Internet Café and led by circumstances, he was eventually hired there as an employee. On the same night INAZUMA’s 10th server was opened. With his new character, Lord Gran, Hiroto starts off his journey to conquer INAZUMA game in the 10th server.

This is a story, how fallen legends step into their game again to become legends once again.

Team Eisei

Kiyama Hiroto – 25 – Unspecialized – Lord Gran While his real name is Kiyama Hiroto, he’s known by the name Kiyama Tatsuya in the eSports. The main character of the story who been playing INAZUMA for 10 years and been in the professional scene for 8. He’s known as INAZUMA textbook and is one of the four Master Tacticians. He is the previous owner of One Epsilon Leaf and the current owner of Lord Gran. Hiroto is also the previous captain of Team Excellent Cloud and current captain of Team Eisei. His best friend created the weapon Infinite Chance Umbrella he’s holding – a specially made weapon for Unspecialized character. He’s a three-time champion and aims to win the championships wit the new team he has gathered. Hiroto ran away from home at the age of fifteen in order to play video games.

An Hasuike – 22 – Battle Mage – Soft Rean A good friend of Yagami Reina and an employee at Eisei, An has no particular knowledge of INAZUMA. She has superior mechanics and helped Reina to pass the Heavenly Domain test and often helps her to fight against strong opponents. An finds INAZUMA very easy and looks down on the game. She’s eventually challenged by Hiroto and is utterly destroyed by him, only to realize the game isn’t that simple. After this, she takes a serious approach on the game and creates her own account Soft Rean. She plays as Battle Mage, what was Hiroto’s One Epsilon Leaf’s class.

Nagumo Haruya – 21 – Brawler – Burning Torch Haruya is known for playing various video games and started playing INAZUMA when the 10th server opened. Hiroto first stumbled upon him while trying to steal a wild Boss. He eventually helped Haruya to steal the Boss and invited him to join his group. Haruya has a raw talent for the game, for having played various video games and his style is very unique and unpredictable. Like An, Haruya has excellent mechanics. He also has a talent to make people annoyed at him and especially Fuusuke is often target of his unwanted attention. Haruya thinks of himself as Fuusuke’s senior because he found the boy and is better play than him. Despite their endless arguments, they are roommates.

Touchi Ai – 23 – Launcher – Icing Rain INAZUMA’s most famous female player and a sister-like figure to Kiyama Hiroto. She’s an orphan and was raised by her brother and Hiroto. Ai entered INAZUMA as the 4th generation – also known as the Golden Generation – and received the Best Partner Award with Hiroto for four consecutive years before his retirement from Excellent Cloud. She wanted to leave with him, but Hiroto stopped her, seeing that her contract was valid for a one more year. Ai is famous for her marketing value, and while she’s not an outstanding player, she’s good to keep around to earn money. She eventually joins Team Eisei once her contract expires. She is known for her perfect coordination skill with Hiroto and wants to be near him as his support.

Kariya Masaki – 17 – Ghostblade – One Hunter’s Net Masaki was originally a member of Team Raimon, but after his contract was expired the team decided not to continue it. He was one the players the team was raising, but was outshined by the prodigy Kageyama Hikaru. While on the team he was threated like an air and he never got to play on the stage – no one even knew he exited. Masaki originally played as Assassin, but changed to Ghostblade following Hiroto’s suggestion. His pride was scattered when he lost horribly in the All Start Tournament’s Rookie Challenge and was comforted by Hiroto. After his contract was expired, he sought sheltering from Hiroto and Eisei. He was warmly welcomed to the team.

Saginuma Osamu – 30 – Warlock – Wormhole Formation Previous Captain of Team Royal. He retired from the Professional scene in the second season after horribly losing to trainee Kidou Yuuto in one of Team Royal’s training camps. Ever since, he’s been playing the game with the gang he has gathered. Hiroto stumbles upon Osamu in the Heavenly Domain when Osamu ambushes him and tries to steal Infinite Chance Umbrella. In the end, it’s Osamu who ends up dead and Hiroto manages to steal his Gungnir’s Hand. Hiroto invites Osamu to join the new team he’s creating and while Osamu refuses at first, he eventually accepts in his invite. After all, he loves INAZUMA very much and who wouldn’t want to try aim for the champion. Osamu is considered Old Man in the professional scene.

Suzuno Fuusuke – 18 – Summoner – Diamond Dust Fuusuke is a second-year mathematics student at University, despite being only 18. He’s new to INAZUMA, but is smart and has a knack for strategy. He wrote meticulous, yet restrictive guides on clearing dungeons because of his lack of experience in Glory. He stumbled upon Burning Torch while the latter was on the run and helped him to run away from his chasers. Burning Torch eventually bought him with him and laughed as his poor mechanics. Hiroto recognized his efforts and helped to create a training program for him to train his mechanics. Fuusuke is constantly being picked up by Haruya which irritates him. He had Haruya share a room.

Midorikawa Ryuuji – 20 – Cleric – Little Green Hands Ryuuji, was a member of Team Internationals’ 7th Branch Guild. Hiroto went of undercover mission to Team International’s guilds to seek out for a Cleric. He eventually noticed Ryuuji, a person who might have lacked in hand speed and team reaction, but was exceptional at seizing opportunities. When the team lost against last years champions despite having a full set of Silver Equipmen, Ryuuji felt down. When Hiroto was questioned if Midorikawa had the skills to be a pro, he affirmatively – his reason being that Ryuuji was from Eisei.

Atsuishi Shigeto – 21 – Ninja – Whithering Before meeting Hiroto and joining Eisei, Shigeto was known as infamous scrap picker in the Heavenly Domain. He is a lone wolf while committing the acts solo. Despite his infamy, he rarely talked to other people online or payed any attention to Pro League. This was shown when he had never heard of Lord Gran. Atsuishi Shigeto took the longest time to recruit and Hiroto had to kill him numerous of times, before the guy finally yielded in. He received the name God Killer after killing Fudou Akio and Fubuki Atsuya.

Aphrodi – 20 – Qi Master – Boundless Heaven Afuro Terumi, known as Aphrodi in the Pro League, is a former member of Team Zeus. He transferred to Eisei after the 9th season and became team’s vice-captain after 10th season. He is known as the “First Thief” and “First Qi Master” in the Pro Alliance. He is also one of the few people who plays with a character opposite to his gender. He joined Eisei upon hearing that they acquired Boundless Heaven, despite knowing the fact that the character is female. Much like everyone in Team Eisei, Aphrodi displays tremendous persistence. When he first arrived to Eisei, he spent 3 hours fighting with Hiroto. He has received nick names Golden Right Hand, and God Hand.

Others

Yagami Reina – 27 – Launcher – Chasing Trick Reina is the owner of Eisei Internet Café and the employer of Kiyama Hiroto and Hasuike An. She’s also a good friend of An. Reina dropped from school after High School and took after the Internet Café her late father owned. She’s a huge fan of INAZUMA and Excellent Cloud, especially their Launcher Touchi Ai. She choose to play as a Launcher because of Ai. Reina has very average skills though, and often has to ask for An to help her defeat opponents. After meeting Hiroto, Reina’s respect for Excellent Cloud scatters and she starts to despise the team. She and An suggest Hiroto creating a new team and Reina offers to become the Boss.

Touchi Shuuji – Deceased Touchi was good friend of Kiyama Hiroto and the older brother of Touchi Ai. He was an orphan and met Hiroto on an Internet Café and invited to play INAZUMA with him. The boys spend a lot of time exploring the world and created equipment. He is the creator of Infinite Chance Umbrella and the original owner of Icing Rain. He was supposed to join Excellent Cloud together with Hiroto, but died in a car accident before the season began.

Kiyama Tatsuya – 25 Kiyama Hiroto’s younger brother. It was him, who had originally planned on running away from home, but Hiroto stole his ID card and runaway. Hiroto also entered to Pro Alliance with in his brother’s ID so that he wouldn’t be found. After years they eventually found Hiroto. Tatsuya has appeared to ask Hiroto to return home. It seems that he still plans on running away from home. He and Hiroto come from a prosperous family.
