Jack Osbourne and Katrina Weidman For a New Season of PORTALS TO HELL Apr. 9th, 2022, on Travel Channel and  discovery+.
There’s hell to pay, and Jack Osbourne and Katrina Weidman are on a mission to find out why. The intrepid paranormal investigators team up again for an all-new season of PORTALS TO HELL, as they’re led to haunted locales where sinister spirits display a vendetta against anyone in their presence. Season Three, premiering Saturday, April 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and streaming the same day on discovery+, will feature 13 hour-long episodes.
Tumblr media
There is no Casper or friendly ghosts here. The deeper the history the deeper the haunting. Exploring the shadowy corners of Detroit’s Eloise Psychiatric Hospital, the historic Savannah Theatre, Staten Island, New York’s Kreischer Mansion, Philadelphia’s Fort Mifflin and the infamous Missouri State Penitentiary, among others, Osbourne and Weidman confront disturbing activity and malevolent entities that have left those that crossed their path shaking in fear. Using their paranormal expertise, advanced scientific equipment and a network of specialists, including a team of psychic mediums, the duo search for evidence and answers as to who, or what, is wreaking such havoc on the living.
“This is a creepy AF new season, twisted and wildly unexpected,” said Osbourne. “The locations were bottled up with activity that hit us almost immediately. The vibes were dark and tense, and there were many times when I was seriously scared of what we might encounter.”
“These places had an intense energy you could feel the minute you walked in,” added Weidman. “Just being inside some of these buildings elicited an unexplainable physical discomfort. So many of the locations this season are just eerie and unnerving.”
In the season opener, Osbourne and Weidman travel to New Castle, Pennsylvania, home to Hill View Manor – a shuttered nursing home where former patients are rumored to live on after death. The sprawling complex has almost as many spirits as it does rooms. Constant reports of scratching, chronic dizziness and shadow apparitions have turned the building’s new owner, Carrie, from a paranormal skeptic into a full-blown believer. With her original plans to turn the property into condos no longer viable, she is hoping Osbourne and Weidman can figure out what exactly is going on within Hill View’s walls. But to get to the bottom of what’s feeding the manor’s dark forces, the duo will first have to face the Creeper – a malevolent shadow creature bent on scaring the living hell out of its victims.

HALESTORM's LZZY HALE To Host AXS TV's 'A Year In Music'
AXS TV's acclaimed rock and culture series "A Year In Music" returns for its third season, premiering Sunday, October 4 at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT. In addition to 12 all-new episodes covering the landmark moments that shaped the '80s, '90s and Aughts, the series will feature a new host, Lzzy Hale — the popular frontwoman of the groundbreaking Grammy-winning rock band HALESTORM — making her TV hosting debut.
"A Year In Music" provides a unique and informative exploration of some of music's most definitive years. Each episode puts the spotlight on a different era of music, viewing the year's hottest bands, biggest albums, surprising breakups and monumental breakthroughs through the lens of the political and social happenings of the time to provide a fascinating look at how they impacted and influenced each other.
Season three highlights include in-depth profiles detailing how the music world came together in 2001 following the terrorist attacks on September 11; the landmark music scene of 1998, which saw the release of the breakthrough album "The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill" and the rise of MTV's hit "TRL" series, which helped launch the careers of pop superstars such as Britney Spears, *NSYNC and Christina Aguilera; and the pop renaissance of 2008, which saw the emergence of current powerhouse performers such as Lady Gaga, Adele, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Beyoncé, and the election of Barack Obama; as well as the inspiring world anthems of 1986, fueled by hits such as "We Are The World" and "True Colors", and the Hands Across America movement; and the bitter East Coast vs. West Coast rap rivalries of 1996 which came to a head following the death of hip-hop trailblazer Tupac Shakur.
Prior to making her debut on AXS TV, Hale will sit down with SiriusXM on-air personality and Esquire editor-at-large Dave Holmes for an exclusive interview, airing as part of the online edition of the network's "At Home And Social" series on Friday, August 28 at 8 a.m. ET/5 a.m. PT. Filmed from the set of "A Year In Music", the candid conversation finds Hale opening up about her partnership with fellow rock songstress Amy Lee, sharing her essential pandemic playlist, dishing on her new herb garden and fishing prowess, and more. Fans can enjoy the interview on AXS TV's Facebook page and YouTube channel.
"Music is a true passion of mine, and I have always been intrigued by how it so perfectly reflects the social and historical happenings of the time in which it is created," Hale said. "Hosting 'A Year In Music' is a dream come true for me, as it allows me to both discuss and learn about music's impact on history and then share that knowledge with music lovers across the world. I am grateful to AXS TV for this incredible opportunity and I cannot wait for it to air!"
"'A Year In Music' presents insightful and in-depth profiles of the music and moments that shaped the world and we are thrilled to welcome Lzzy Hale as the host in its third season," said Sarah Weidman, head of original programming, development and multiplatform content, AXS TV. "Her love for music is unparalleled, and her vibrant and down-to-earth personality has earned her a loyal legion of fans — making her the perfect choice to guide viewers along on this unique journey. She is the epitome of rock music, and a fantastic addition to our network!"
When she's not performing to sold out crowds across the world with HALESTORM, Hale hosts her own YouTube series, aptly titled "Raise Your Horns", where she talks and jams with friends and fellow icons such as Alice Cooper, Corey Taylor, Amy Lee, Taylor Momsen and more.
"A Year In Music" is produced in-house by AXS TV, with Stephen Stormer serving as executive producer.

Tashkent Metro, Uzbekistan
“Last summer, for the first time ever, Uzbekistan began allowing photography in its opulent metro, which has been described as one of the most ornate in the world.
“During Soviet times, if a city’s population topped one million, it would become eligible for its own metro. In 1977, Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, became the seventh Soviet city to have a metro built. Grand themes celebrating the history of Uzbekistan and the Soviet Union were brought to life, as art was commissioned and designers set to work. The stations reflected different themes, some with domed ceilings and painted tiles reminiscent of Uzbekistan's Silk Road mosques, while others were decorated with chandeliers and marble to give the appearance of European ballrooms. The result has been described by Lonely Planet as one of the most beautiful Soviet metro systems in the world.
“When the Metro was built, photography was banned in its stations because of its ancillary role as a nuclear bomb shelter. During Soviet times, fears of spying and a tight control on information meant photography was largely distrusted, especially around sensitive military infrastructure, including bomb shelters.” Read the full article by Taylor Weidman here

GOTHAM, Fox Network’s drama about the journey of young Bruce Wayne (played by David Mazouz) to becoming Batman, is in its fifth and final ten-episode season on Thursday nights. The series will culminate in an episode that shows Gotham City and its denizens ten years later, when Batman finally comes into his own, as do his enemies.
Most of the major cast and creatives do a Q&A panel for the Television Critics Association press tour, and then everybody starts hugging each other. From all evidence, it seems like they’ve all loved their time on the show, their characters and one another dearly.
Thus Donal Logue, who plays Gotham police detective Harvey Bullock, and Cory Michael Smith, who plays Edward Nygma, aka the Riddler, literally have their arms around each other’s backs for most of this conversation. Their characters might despise one another, but the actors are clearly fast comrades.
ASSIGNMENT X: Were you waiting for the day when you got to have that full ten years from now look as the Riddler?
CORY MICHAEL SMITH: The last episode? Yes. And I remember – our designer, John Glazer, he was so great about consulting with us, and saying if we had any ideas. They [the design department] pitched what they had been thinking, but asked if there were any alterations or thoughts that we had. These guys are so good. I was like, “You do you, and I will wear it the best that I can.” And they came up with just the most beautiful outfit. They’ve made the fabric so that it’s embossed with question marks, so that as you turn, you see different ones. The detail, and the passion, and the creativity, and the singular identity for this Riddler, and this show, I so appreciate and I could not be happier with the final look.
DONAL LOGUE: You look incredible.
SMITH: The one thing that I did get to pick out – I said, “I want a new pair of glasses.” And I got to help pick out the green glasses.
LOGUE: I wore the same thing five years, didn’t f**k with that. Harvey’s Harvey. So I didn’t have to do any of that s**t.
Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma / The Riddler in GOTHAM – Season | ©2018 Fox/Justin Stephens
AX: You’ve had quite a career during GOTHAM, outside of GOTHAM. On film, you were in CAROL, with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, you were the lead in 1985, you were in WONDERSTRUCK, and you just played Roger Chaffee in FIRST MAN. On stage, you played Lee Harvey Oswald in the New York City Center Encores production of Stephen Sondheim’s/John Weidman’s ASSASSINS. Are the people casting these productions GOTHAM fans, going, “Oh, my God, he’s incredible, get that guy,” or is that just happening independently of your work on the series?
LOGUE: That’s how talented Cory is.
SMITH: Thank you.
LOGUE: You remember the first season, when you were in the Frances McDormand [starrer, on HBO] OLIVE KITTRIDGE. I was watching OLIVE KITTRIDGE, I knew, I just instinctively, intuitively knew what Cory was capable of, just knowing him. But when I saw it, I was so transported. He’s just an actor of so much depth – what he can do, where he’s going to go, is going to be awesome to watch.
SMITH: Thank you. I’ve auditioned for the work, and the stuff that’s come to me I think has been because of being able to watch OLIVE KITTRIDGE and GOTHAM, and see two completely different people.
LOGUE: What’s so beautiful is – because [as an actor] you get stuck – you do a big, kind of comic-y, kind of clown-y kind of thing that we’re probably all capable of doing, but when you do that early on, then people go, “Okay, that’s what you do.” And Cory got to show, very early on, the different levels he was capable of, the different frequencies he can throw. He’s just such a beautiful performer. And people talk s**t about this, but in five years, we didn’t have a moment of trauma or static between anybody in this [GOTHAM] world.
AX: Do you feel like Harvey might eventually become Hank Dolworth, the former police detective/private investigator you played in TERRIERS?
LOGUE: No, they were so different. It’s so bizarre. Like, why is it like that, Cory, right? I’m so strange. Everything I’ve done in probably the last fifteen years or something, I either knew who the guy was immediately, or I didn’t. Harvey is very different than Hank Dolworth, I would say. But Hank Dolworth – I was me. If you watch TERRIERS, that’s just me being me, and Harvey was Harvey.
AX: It was just, Hank had been a hard-bitten detective, and …
LOGUE: Well, they were both trapped in prisons of alcoholism and some weird sadness and some loneliness. You didn’t get to see Harvey’s behind the scenes. That’s an appropriate point.
SMITH: The Riddler did not get closer to me, I will say that, so … No, I have maybe gotten closer to the Riddler [laughs].
AX: Not asking for spoilers, but what has been your highlight on the show so far for your performance?
SMITH: Of all five years, of this season?
AX: All five years.
SMITH: Oh, that’s so tough.
LOGUE: I’d say my favorite moment – I had so many, but my favorite moment was on the pilot, when we drive Penguin [played by Robin Lord Taylor] to the pier and I tell Jim Gordon [played by Ben McKenzie], take this dude out, march him down there, and shoot him, save us a lot of hassle. It was there in the pilot [laughs]. It was there with Robin and Ben, and it was freezing, and it was beautiful. There are too many, but I would say, that was an awesome one.
SMITH: I think probably the – it’s not necessarily – it’s my favorite moment maybe in the arc when, at the end of Season 1, I’m protecting Kristen Kringle [played by Chelsea Spack], and I try to pick a fight with this cop who’s half a foot taller than me, and I stab him and then I just keep going. And it was a year of this guy, of [pre-Riddler] Ed, being so pent-up and so frustrated, and him being denied friendship and attention and no one taking him seriously, and it was the first time that I felt like he was letting go, and I was overwhelmed by the fear and the exhilaration. It was the moment I felt like, “I am part of this show now. This is someone who belongs on this show.”

Five Countries Hold 70% of World's Last Wildernesses, Map Reveals by Lisa Cox

Just five countries hold 70% of the world’s remaining untouched wilderness areas and urgent international action is needed to protect them, according to new research.
Researchers from the University of Queensland (UQ) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) have for the first time produced a global map that sets out which countries are responsible for nature that is devoid of heavy industrial activity.
It comes ahead of the conference of parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in Egypt in November where signatory nations are working towards a plan for the protection of biodiversity beyond 2020.
Conservationists are calling for a mandated target for wilderness conservation that will preserve the planet’s vulnerable ecosystems.
The UQ and WCS study, published in the journal Nature, identifies Australia, the US, Brazil, Russia and Canada as the five countries that hold the vast majority of the world’s remaining wilderness.
Tumblr media
Map of the world’s remaining wilderness. Green represents land wilderness, while blue represents ocean wilderness. Photograph: Nature
The data excludes untouched wilderness in Antarctica and on the high seas that is not contained within national borders.
The paper comes after the team of scientists produced data in 2016 that charted the planet’s remaining terrestrial wilderness and in 2018 examinedwhich parts of the world’s oceans remained free from the damaging impacts of human activity.
They found that more than 77% of land – excluding Antarctica – and 87% of oceans had been modified by human intervention.
“Two years ago we did the first analysis of wilderness on land,” lead author James Watson said.
“In this new analysis we’ve created a global map and intersected it with national borders to ask: who is responsible?”
The researchers say that the planet’s remaining wilderness can be protected “only if it is recognised within international policy frameworks”.
They’re calling for an international target that protects 100% of all remaining intact ecosystems.
“It’s achievable to have a target of 100%,” Watson said. “All nations need to do is stop industry from going into those places.”
He said the five countries responsible for most of the world’s remaining wilderness had to provide leadership and could act to protect these areas through legislation or by offering incentives to businesses that do not erode nature.
John Robinson, the executive vice-president for global conservation at WCS, said wilderness would only be secured globally “if these nations take a leadership role”.
“Already we have lost so much. We must grasp these opportunities to secure the wilderness before it disappears forever,” he said.

John McAfee, Antivirus Software Creator, Is Found Dead in Spanish Jail
Spanish court had ordered his extradition to the U.S., where he faced tax-related criminal charges
— By Bowdeya Tweh and Robert McMillan | June 23, 2021 | Wall Street Journal

John McAfee, the antivirus software pioneer who founded cybersecurity company McAfee, was found dead Wednesday in a jail cell in Spain, his attorney said.
A Spanish court earlier in the day ordered the extradition of Mr. McAfee, 75 years old, in connection with a federal criminal proceeding in Tennessee. Mr. McAfee had been detained in the country since October in connection with criminal charges filed in Tennessee by the Justice Department’s tax division.
The Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office also sought the extradition of Mr. McAfee in a separate criminal case.
“John was and will always be remembered as a fighter,” said Nishay K. Sanan, an attorney representing Mr. McAfee in U.S. criminal proceedings. “He tried to love this country but the U.S. Government made his existence impossible.”
Mr. Sanan said the court ruling Wednesday would be appealed in the next few days.
Spanish authorities will investigate the cause and circumstances of Mr. McAfee’s death, according to a government official. In December, a court rejected a request by Mr. McAfee that he be freed, saying he was a flight risk and that remaining in the jail near Barcelona didn’t pose a risk to his health.
Tumblr media

Mr. McAfee founded the company that still bears his name in 1987, but he sold his stake in the 1990s for more than $100 million.
“Although John McAfee founded the company, he has not been associated with our company in any capacity for over 25 years,” a McAfee Corp. spokeswoman said via email Wednesday. “That said, our thoughts go to his family and those close to him.”
In the mid-2000s, Mr. McAfee gave up the corporate world and spent millions of dollars building a series of airstrips in the southwestern U.S., where he indulged his passion for “aerotrekking,” or low-altitude flyover exploration of desert terrain
In recent years, he had focused on cryptocurrencies, which he promoted with an outlaw image and a reputation for brash pronouncements. In 2017, Mr. McAfee in a tweet predicted that bitcoin would be valued at $500,000 within three years, a prediction that failed to come to pass.
Tumblr media

Over the years, he had several run-ins with the law. While he lived in Belize, police sought to question him after his neighbor was found shot to death in 2012. He fled the country to Guatemala but was later deported to the U.S. after being found to have entered the country illegally. Mr. McAfee maintained his innocence on the matter.

Mr. McAfee earned millions promoting cryptocurrencies, charging speaking fees and providing consulting services, but failed to pay taxes on this income, federal prosecutors say. Authorities accused him of failing to file tax returns between 2014 and 2018 and avoiding taxes by naming other people as the owners of his assets in cryptocurrency accounts, real estate and even a yacht.
In March, federal prosecutors in New York charged Mr. McAfee with fraud saying he deceptively promoted cryptocurrencies via his Twitter account. Mr. McAfee and his associates made more than $2 million via a “pump-and-dump” scheme, where they promoted a dozen little-known cryptocurrencies on Twitter, then dumped the assets once their value had increased, prosecutors said.
In a statement posted on a website last year, Mr. McAfee said he hadn’t filed a tax return since 2010 and that he previously contacted the IRS about his plans. In a March tweet, Mr. McAfee said he was being used as a scapegoat in a broader U.S. crackdown against cryptocurrencies.

In one of his last public messages on Twitter, sent last week to his 1 million followers, Mr. McAfee claimed that his cryptocurrency assets had “dissolved” and the government had seized his remaining assets.
“My friends evaporated through fear of association,” the tweet said. “I have nothing. Yet, I regret nothing.”
Mr. Sanan said the court ruling Wednesday was going to be appealed in the next few days and that the New York extradition was still pending in a lower court in Spain.
Mr. McAfee founded the security company that still bears his name in 1987, but he sold his stake in the business in the 1990s and had not been involved in the company’s operations for decades.
