cowgirl hat rule barbie who is on a first official date with you after becoming girlfriend girlfriend. barbie who's a little flustered at the start of the night, because now the hand holds and the lingering glances are because she's enamored with her girlfriend, not the girl she's been seeing.

and she really likes your outfit, especially the hat you wear. it fits your setting, a themed bar barbie practically begged the two of you to go to for your next date. she was so excited to get there, that she'd forgotten her own hat, and she felt rude asking to wear yours. but yours was so cute, and unique, and so you.

she needed a picture in it. so she asks. plain and simple.

"could i wear your hat?"

your smile tells her that you know something she doesn't. you're sly with it, confident, and it already makes her a little flushed. the way you're looking at her and the drinks in her system.

"sure you can, honey," you say, and her smile widens. "but you know the rule."

her smile doesn't falter as she tilts her head, eyebrows pushed together as she asks you, "what rule?"

you set your drink on the counter, just a soda as you'd offered to drive both of you back tonight. "the cowboy hat rule," your hand gestures to the hat on your head, "says that if you wanna wear the hat, you gotta kiss the cowgirl."

her cheeks deepen, she can sense it happening, one of those human feelings she'd been getting used to with the time. it's unpleasant sometimes, but it's nothing but pleasant here, with you.

"oh." is all she can manage to say, short and sweet. she can see your eyes softening, and she knows that you're close to backing off, so she musters up as much courage as she can and she takes a step closer to you and then her hand reaches up and lifts the hat off of your head, placing it down onto hers instead.

her face is so warm that she feels like she needs an ice cube to calm it down, but she decides she'll do that after she kisses you as she steps even closer to you and presses her lips to yours, a gentle touch at first that turns into firm pressure, her hands resting on your shoulders as yours slide around her lower back.

you deepen the arch in her back, tipping her backwards a little and the hat almost slides off her head, leaving barbie to take one hand off of you to hold it still. her lips move against yours, glosses mixing, and barbie decides that she loves these silly rules humans have, especially if it gets her in this position more often.

last night, i had a dream that you three were living in a house together and andi brought home this apple pie and suni took a bite of it and got possessed by something and logged onto this account and copy-pasted the entire acswy outline for the entire world to see. everyone saw it and it got a million notes and i remember just one part of the outline and that is that, the reason ch09 is the longest chapter because will turns into a paintbrush and mike turns into toy story worm and it’s haven’s worm fic and they spend the chapter trying to turn them back.
