I keep seeing this "Bucchigiri has an awful mc" discourse popping up whenever the anime is mentioned, and there's something that bothers about the way a lot of people are framing these discussions. People always point out the fact that Arajin is a dirtbag who ghosts his only friend to simp for a girl who is actively disinterested in him under the pretense that this is behavior the anime expects us to agree with and think is good, and will thus endear him to us as audience, but like... that's obviously not what Bucchigiri is trying to do??

like- this is a show where the protagonists main love interest is a girl that is so revolted by him that she has zero qualms manipulating him into joining an actual gang, a show where the main character almost shits his own pants before every single action scene, and lets not forget, a show where he neglects and mistreats his only friend so badly that said friend loses it and systematically beats the piss out of every other character on the show to work out his frustrations.

Does that sound like a show that "failed at making a likable protagonist", or does that sound like a show that is purposefully centered around a selfish and awful character?

One of the shows main narrative hooks is watching this terrible man stumble his way through what is an otherwise fairly serious shounen anime world. I think that's a pretty funny subversion of typical anime tropes, but even if you don't agree, to deny that it's what the show is going for is to just refuse to engage with it on any level, and that's the main issue with this type of critique.

You can dislike the show for not having a likable protagonist, but the show is not trying to have a likable protagonist. At that point you're not hating a show because it executes what it's trying to do poorly, you're hating a show because it's not something it never wanted to be in the first place.

There is nothing quite like encountering a Sterek fan who insists that the reason Derek's attempt to form a new Hale Pack in Season 2 failed is because Scott sabotaged it.

If only Scott wasn't so stubborn and selfish, Stiles would have been able to help Derek, the argument seems to go.

Oh i am so mad at Roger. They settled with Rick at least but are still going with Roger.

#supertramp #roger keeps pulling the I did all the work but i promise you his music wouldn't have been as popular without the collective effort of all o #these people #like John wrote all of his own parts and often also made an insane amount of suggestions mostly for the better of songs #now rick isn't involved but his piano solo makes school and he also basically wrote more of it than roger anyway #but like the lawyers arguments also bring rick down again which roger likes to do so much #as if roger is the only reason supertramp even exists and managed this #without rick the band wouldn't even have existed #roger helped with a huge part of it but don't be so damn arrogant man #stupid piece of shit #i was mad about roger and rick about this lawsuit before tbf but it's news they settled with rick but it just seems in character Roger #is not relenting while there's clear proof over the agreements the royalties were not a gift but something in contract #initially only Rick and Roger would get something and the rest would literally just get a barely liveable salary #imagine pouring everything into a band and being met in return with this absolute bullshit #and then dougie accused bob and John for continuing to tour with rick solely cuz of the money cuz he left supertramp cuz of his loyalty to #roger which is insanely hypocritical to me but whatever #just glad the three of them are now coming together to do this #i wonder if John will be asked about it now cuz there's an actual article about it #first it was only court documents

I seriously don't get what people want from Mileven.

Like, they say 'they don't have love between them' but they don't see what these two do for each other.

They say, 'they're not cheesy and romantic' and when the two kiss and hug (talking abt S3), they say 'they're not mature and so cheesy ew'.

And when the two get mature and try to solve the problems between them (I'm talking abt S4 here), they say, 'oh, they're constantly fighting, their relationship is so toxic!'

And not to mention that when the Mileven fight scene was uploaded on YT, people were saying, 'I was constantly screaming at Mike for not saying ILY.' 'Mike doesn't deserve Eleven.' 'Mike didn't say it to her because he doesn't love her.'

And when he finally says it, they are all like, 'OMG the monologue was so cringy and sappy wtf.' 'He was just saying it because she needed it.' 'Will encouraged him, that's why he said it.'

Literally every-fucking-thing they do, y'all are NEVER satisfied with it. Y'all find ANY reason to twist it and change the meaning into something else. At this point, these people are not watching what is actually happening in the scene; they're just sitting there, making conclusions of there own.

I think that when these two will get married, these people will be like, 'Mike married Eleven because he loved Will' 💀💀

Yea that post was uh.....it was something alright. I had a lot more thoughts but not enough time to write them all out so cliff notes version:

Aura regenerates, most people where annoyed they didn't wait for said aura to regenerate. Also Even more people question how they couldn't get Gamble Shroud even without aura because in volume 1 they're jumping and running up crumbling aura without using their semblances or weapons so suddenly not being able to feels really odd.

The people falling into the abyss where screaming as they and dead people cannot scream. Also all of RWBY's aura's where broken when they fell so uh that excuse really doesn't hold any water.

No one forgot it was Penny's sword, we just don't think their was as strong of an emotional tie between the sword and Penny as her original ones she had since the beginning

Most RWDE people angry about Adam are angry that the minority who was branded as a child was written to be a creepy ex terrorist because it was super racist

Blank and Yang did kill Adam, even if it is in self defense, he is dead and they killed him and most people once again are annoyed that they just do not seem to feel anything about taking a human life.

As I said I focused on the James part cuz well that's kind of my blogs thing but oh boy that post was a thing lolz and you where most certain not alone in your feelings.

i can't stand when you guys do the "woman in rock" thing im sorry learn basic music history and we can start recs otherwise it's just a loose collection of bands with no sonic/time/scene similarities completely divorced from context only grouped together because There Are Women (and they are almost exclusively frontwomen too) like it's just further alienating these bands/performers from the real tangible effect they had on music
