It’s always a treat having Daniel over, they’re both such outdoorsy people. Sebastian’s Switzerland home the perfect spot in the woods, surrounded by mountains and the best available hikes.
It’s also a treat when this Daniel makes an appearance; even more outgoing, ever so present in the best way. He’s jogging along ahead of Seb, giggling when he calls out that Sebastian’s too slow. Gets stuck in an even bigger giggle fit when he calls him “Snail Seb”, very proud of himself for that one.
They make it back right after lunch, having been up early to catch the sunset. Daniel’s still bouncing despite the hike, but Sebastian can see the first cracks of fatigue show up.
He’s helping Daniel wash his hands, scrubbing the soap in between his fingers while Daniel leans back into his chest.
“Naptime, mhm?” Sebastian hums, pressing a kiss to the messy curls while he rinses their hands off.
“Nuh uh.” There’s a whine in Daniel’s tone immediately, shaking his head profusely, the same messy curls tickling Sebastian’s chin.
“Yuh uh.” Sebastian counters, flicking the tap off and reaching for a towel. “Little boys gotta rest.”
“Noooooo.” The pout Daniel’s portraying is some of his best work, blinking his best puppy eyes as he flops against the German’s chest. “Mama.”
“Daniel.” Sebastian smiles, wrapping his arms around the younger. “Are you not sleepy?”
“Am not.” Sebastian should resist the big brown eyes but he cannot, not today. So he relents. No nap.

It’s nearing dinner time and to his surprise Daniel has stayed awake, been on his best behavior too despite Sebastian preparing for a moody little.
He’s cooking now, Daniel’d been playing with some toy cars, running them along the lines of the striped carpet as if it were a racetrack. Except
It’s quiet. Too quiet, Daniel is not quiet. It usually means mischief, so Sebastian puts the knife down and makes his way to the living only to find Daniel fast asleep.
His face is mushed up against the carpet, arms tucked underneath him, a car possibly still in his hand.
He resists the urge to coo, grabs a pillow and gently fits it underneath Daniel’s face to prevent a carpet burn and snaps a picture.
He sends it to Lewis with the caption: “Mr. No nap.”

people online talk so much about hating babies and kids but in "the meatspace" people LOVE babies. hang out with a baby and you will see so many people staring at you with big smiles and waving at you and going "that baby is SO cute" and generally being pleasant unprompted. the lady at the vietnamese place just now gave us like three extra soup spoons because my niece loves those spoons but kept dropping them on the floor and the lady kept giving us more with a massive smile on her face. on our walk today a bunch of construction guys waved and grinned at her the whole time we walked by, and when we passed by an elementary school a little girl said "your baby's really sweet!" babies are not balls of irritation and hatred they are beacons of joy and kindness actually and they bring out the best in strangers. whenever im out with her we have multiple positive interactions with strangers who are so happy to see her. or maybe it's just that my baby niece is the cutest most wonderful baby in the world :]

you have GOT to remember when watching the new doctor who that the question is not is this good. doctor who is only ever actually 'good' once a season at most. THE ONLY QUESTION IS is it fun, camp, and has aliens. also remember the worst doctor who showrunner is always the current doctor who showrunner. now go watch the new episodes as god intended like you're ten years old and still remember how to experience joy and whimsy.
