since there's probably ( not really ) going to be a question about it : verona's neck-wound DID NOT come from her turns in war / on the field. it was inflicted by her mother who , once she discovered her daughter was cavorting with "the dark muses" , said the offense must be quelled by the source - through the voice ; in prym's own words , this was done to prevent verona from ever being able to speak another spell , another cantrip , another verse or hymn. an extreme case of punishment , yes , but for a some while , proved ... EFFECTIVE . in the time which followed , where verona healed and re-learned a means of communication , prym was often condescending unto her child , saying things like , "was it worth it , daughter ? to blemish your beauty and standing like this ... i hope you learned your lesson well." this , something verona - understandably - never forgave prym for ; this , too , a scorn and contempt which is sure to BOIL OVER in time.
when verona DID learn to communicate , she learned SIGNING FIRST , followed by the art of telepathy. telepathy is not very common , likely viewed as invasive by the majority ( & it very well is ! ) . to initiate her speaking to you directly , she will tap your temple , then her own , allowing the veils of the mind to thin and be lifted. her voice sinks into the mind like dark honey ; easing over one's thoughts and wandering the headspace like an uninvited geist.
PS: when verona and her father had a discussion about the whole ordeal ( as they tend to talk much more than she & her mother ) , verona asked her father if he would've forgive prym for doing something similar to him. and his reply , predictably , was , "i love her , i would forgive many of her sins." and verona again asked if he forgives her for doing such a thing to HER , as his daughter. and he said , "in earnest , no. i cannot look beyond this."

Food/Cooking Headcanon
Honestly when it comes to cooking, she's just as bad if not worse than Arsinoe. Should not be in a kitchen ever.
She tried to cook breakfast for her sisters once and accidently set the kitchen on fire while trying to make scrambled eggs. She also tried to make oatmeal for herself at one point, and managed to not only burn the oatmeal, but destroy the pot.
The only thing she actually do in the kitchen is make tea and after the scrambled egg and oatmeal incident that's all Katharine will let her do.

Let’s discuss more about Allyra’s death !
Prior to Allyra being deployed for service , Kaen proposed they perform a bonding rite. You may be thinking , ‘mav , isn’t that essentially just them mating ?’ and to that I say : no , no it’s certainly not. What this does is INTERTWINE THE THREADS of the two parties involved. Considering Kaen is already in part a mystic themself , they knew what this would likely mean. Bonding with someone , weaving your fate-lines together , is - unsurprisingly - a VERY SACRED rite reserved only for the gods and their chosen few ( note : it doesn’t have to be romantic in nature , some of the Lessers have bonded with beloved underlings to keep them safe ; to-date , Cernunnos has only performed the rite himself twice ) . Doing this offers an exchange of strength as well as weakness ; if Kaen is hurt , Allyra is hurt and vice-versa. Kaen doing this IMMEDIATELY BEFORE Allyra is sent to fight for their clan is … Immensely reckless , and further supports the idea that the two’s tryst was frowned upon by the Council. Kaen , however , quells Allyra’s disbelief by reminding her they’re doing it with GOOD INTENTIONS ( and assuredly they are , but the timing is horrible ) .
After performing the rite , after spending the night together , Allyra is sent off come dawn. Kaen would later say their biggest regret is NOT saying they loved her when she left and instead simply telling her good-bye ; be well ; come home to me. But , being a mystic , there’s a foreboding in them when they speak , when they watch her go with the others-- Something’s not well here and the threads are not as secure as they once were before. Kaen , unfortunately , ignores this and pushes it aside.
Per the rite , Kaen is awoken some several days later into the campaign , in immense pain. Immediately they seek Drachmah and they confess what they did. He is frankly displeased ( but not shocked ) . The elder soothsayer offers as much help as he can , attempting to keep them calm , but the pain is indescribable and tears through the godling’s abdomen , leaving a trail where Allyra’s been cut down. Kaen hears it - faintly , like a vision just out of reach - Allyra , in her remaining words saying she is “no longer afraid of death,” a feat Kaen themself claimed to be capable of and taught her through their time together.
Cernunnos is rightly upset when he discovers this. He tells Kaen that out of respect for Allyra’s family , they must be the one to stand for the gods and speak over the body through the funeral , as well as to bestow the boon onto the survivors. Kaen believes this is punishment , and they’re not entirely wrong.
Allyra’s family - a proud sort of fae-like avians , known for their rich heritage of battle - are exceptionally grateful for Kaen’s being there. In return , they present the godling with Allyra’s lance and although Kaen says they cannot accept such a token , the family insists.
After all is done , Kaen gives Allyra’s prized lance a place of reverence upon the wall in their room , crossed together with their first axe. Kaen , to this day , still sustains the wound ‘cross their stomach and left-side. Although much more subtle now , it never fails to upset them if brought up in conversation. Oftentimes , Kaen wonders if they made a very grave mistake bonding themself to Allyra ; if , beyond that , loving so deeply was a mistake- if the grief it sowed was worth it. Kaen has since then never permitted the Council to assign the another of the ranks to take Allyra’s place , believing rather firmly that no-one else was able to fill the role.

Do you think Thomas and Minho are so close because of the trauma they have both been through?
What are some of your favorite Thominho headcanons?
I think it's definitely a reason why they are close, but I also believe they that trust each other fully and that is probably the main reason they are close to each other.
Like, yeah, they are the only ones who know what it's like at night in the Maze (and survived it), so they share that trauma. But during that night in the Maze, they learned to trust each other and saw that together, they can survive, and to me, that's what solidify their bond.
The rest of the story his basically that, Thomas getting betrayed and not knowing who to trust anymore, but there's always Minho. He knows he can always trust him. He gets betrayed (in a way) by everybody else, Teresa, Brenda (because she doesn't tell him how she is working with Ava), Newt (because yeah, manipulating a friend to kill us is a form of betrayal in my book), but never Minho. And that's probably why I shipped them as soon as I finished TDC. Their bond grows throughout the books and it's just so beautiful to see.
As for my favourite Thominho headcanons, again, I have so much, but this time, I'll go into relationship headcanons I have for Thominho:
Minho always wakes up before Thomas, so in the mornings, he likes to stare at him sleeping because Thomas looks so peaceful
Minho is the better cook of the two, but Thomas likes cooking more
They don't have a preferred position when they sleep, but they always have to be touching in some ways
They love beach dates more than anything else
When they are next to each other, they always have to be touching in some ways. A leg over the other's thigh, a hand resting on the other's arms, or them snuggling on the sand
They share clothes all the time. They basically don't remember what belonged to whom. This means Minho often wear more tight clothes, but Thomas is far from complaining.
They go on runs together

Rewatching AOR again, and I realized something about the exchange between SkekSo and SkekZok when they think SkekMal is dead and deserves a funeral rite, with SkekZok being embarrassed admitting there is no rite since none of them died since the beginning
Originally I saw it as "strange", SkekYi and SkekHak did die, it was as if they ignored them. So I interpreted it as them not counting them or even having forgotten about them (after all the movie shows they did forget about Aughra too)
Then we all saw the tableboard with all the Skeksis titles on which was "Spy Master" we all suspected to be SkekUng, and there were 2 other ones, the Merchant and the Steward. 18 in total. So we supposed those were SkekYi and SkekHak. Especially since apparently in the new canon from the novels SkekHak IS still alive so who knows, AOR being even different it wouldn't be far fetched they both would be. Unless those were for flashbacks or storytelling
But upon listening to it again, SkekZok says "no Skeksis has died since-" then pauses as if self censoring or scared, and finishes more nervously and vague "the beginning...". Now sounding like it's not that no one died from the start, but no one died SINCE the start but they had at this very moment. Which is making me think that Skeksis (so SkekYi and/or SkekHak) DID die at the beginning, but it was not talked to again out of fear of death, out of censorship, and that it was so early there was no rite and they just got rid of the bodies. Making more sense why SkekSo would ask for a rite supposing perhaps SkekZok had actually done some sort of rite instead of none, rather than assuming there was one planned in case one would die which is weird from a species who refuses to see Death as a possibility
Making me also think. Everybody at this moment thought comatose SkekMal was dead. "None" of them having died, it was logical they would not know an actual dead Skeksis fall into ashes since it was not the case of other species. But if indeed SkekYi and/or SkekHak died at the beginning they should know. Meaning either they forgot/self-censored and self-convinced to forget as a denial of their mortality, OR they did not fall into ashes. Meaning my headcanon that the Skeksis originally wouldn't fall into ashes when dying but do so now only because they are very ancient and years catch up all of sudden may be true after all !
And if TDC AOR Tactics' comment that SkekMal's mask looks like a Skeksis skull is to take seriously and canon, it could truly belong to obe of them like I HC it is

ok random twin headcanon time
so in dante's inferno, there's this one part of one of the inner circles of hell (6th? 7th? idk it's been a while) where there's a ton of snakes that can bite people and change their forms into animals, objects, etc. this part of hell is devoted to thieves. (insert obvious metaphor here)
now initially in tdc, there was going to be at least some influence from the divine comedy, as shown in concept art featuring the iconic 'abandon all hope ye who enter here' over the carnival gate. sadly, this did not make it into the final cut.
and twin in tdc is a snake-person, who can shapeshift and change forms, and who primarily deals with greedy sinners which would most likely include thieves...
so it's not far of a stretch at least in my view, that twin would have some kind of venom that, when injected into a sinner, could change their form as well...
this is all headcanon so don't take it too seriously, but it's a fun idea to work with imo. what do you guys think?

doing these for my tdc s/i, since ive been. Thinking tm lately!
1. what are the basics of your self insert? name, date of birth, height, etc.?
while his real name is known, he goes by lamb! he was born [ REDACTED ] and is around 5'4", he's very short to appear nonthreatening. he's blind in his left eye due to physical trauma inflicted on him as punishment before being banished to hell.
he was thrown out of heaven long ago, and no one really knows how long he's been a part of the carnival, only long enough that he and lucifer are generally on friendly terms, almost as though they've known each other a very long time. he used to be a model, but after being accused of attempting to seduce multiple male angels he was thrown out <|3
his power is mimicking other people's desires! everyone sees him differently, only those that can accept their desires can see him truly. the downside is that he doesn't know what/who hes mimicking. i based him off of the wolf in sheeps clothing fable, and he's representative of lust/envy and denial.
11. what kind of outfit(s) does your self insert wear?
he kind of just has one basic outfit, that of a mime! he wears black suspenders, dark pants, and a tattered, torn striped short sleeve shirt. his hair often changes styles and lengths, but he always has his makeup on, a very pale greasepaint with dark black around his eyes and streaked down his eyes/cheeks in a traditional mime-esque look!
12. how would the fandom view your character?
he'd be the headcanon baby. because he doesn't talk a lot and has a very obscured backstory, he'd definitely be the character that everyone gives their own little history for and personality to, especially in regards to what he did to be banished, and how he became blinded. even if i have a full little story for him, i imagine it wouldn't be mentioned much in the movie, so it'd be very up to interpretation ❤️🩹

I don’t think you guys understand - Dyn’lo is considered EXTREMELY WELL OFF in his society , to the point that his standing with the Nobles has allotted him many facets of power / prestige. With no other family ( aside from a sister who took his place as a mystic-familiar ) , the Great One essentially watched over him from his youth until now. At one point , recently , the Great One broached the topic of h i m potentially being considered as a suitor to her daughter. To which , this emotionally stunted brick wall simply snorted and replied , “Are you certain ?” That went over about as well as you might expect , with the Great One mentioning that he should rethink his stance before he disgraces or embarrasses himself again.
