Heyya! I saw a bunch of your old PQ artstyle stuff, and was wondering if you had any tips for learning how to mimic the artstyle? I've been struggling for a few months now, especially with the eyes, lmao.
I'm honestly not the best at explaining my process, but I'm willing to try to help!
My first piece of advice is to use simple shapes. It can be tempting to add bits of detail to the draing but a lot of the time you really don't need it.
You definetly want the lineart to look pretty clean with not much line weight variance.
Shading is surpsiginly very minimal. There's no need to overdo it with shading at all.
Remember to use lots of reference images. When I draw a character who hasn't appeared in Q, I'll get up images of Q characters and take aspects of them that I think would fit the character I'm drawing (Eye shape, face, outfit etc).
Despite having a very chibi aesthetic, the bodies are a little bit more human like than you'd expect. It's important to focus on the proportions of all the body parts in relation to the head. Reference images help a lot of it. Try drawing immedietly next to a full body reference on the same canvas and lining up the height of your drawing with the reference, if that makes sense.
Hopefully at least one of these pieces of advice helped!
I've admired @partycoffin's work for years but I'm just now at the point where I felt I could do these designs justice. Julie's design in particular is just so adorable, and finally drawing her was such a delight! I hope you enjoy, neighbors 💙
Vivzie has such an immensely unearned pretentiousness and bravado about her work given how she has one of the most unconfident art and character design styles I've ever seen make it to television. It's frenzied in it's addiction to making sure everyone is thin and covered in useless symbols and pinstripes. I didn't know it was this bad I was hoping the criticism I've seen online was at least a little cherry picked but these characters' visual chemistry bar is below ground.
It is impressive how awful these character designs are. I would struggle to do this on purpose
I had a wonderful opportunity to make some pixel art for this Welcome Home update!! Huge thanks to Clown for having me, I hope these brought at least 1% more joy to your peepers than the site already has 🙏
